3. STORY-------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we last saw the cool bandicoot, he had left the evil Dr. Neo Cortex
outraged as his dreams of world domination were blown sky high, thanks to
Crash.

As we return...

We see huge pieces of Cortex's exploding space station hurtling towards Earth
with chunks of metal crashing into a tropical mountain...KABOOM!

And the story unfolds...

Now an even uglier enemy looms, free again! It's Uka Uka, Dr. Cortex's
sinister boss-that's right, Cortex has someone he reports to!

Meanwhile, on another part of the planet, we see Crash and Coco at home,
relaxing and playing happily. When suddenly, Aku Aku gets a very strange
feeling...

Cortex failed to retrieve the Crystals and Gems (the source of world energy and
the key to his diabolical plans) in the last show down against Crash Bandicoot
and has made Uka Uka very upset!

So, Uka Uka has recruited an old friend, Dr. N. Tropy to join them.

Dr. N. Tropy has created a time machine, the Time Twister, that allows them to
travel through time to find the Gems and Crystals in their original places.
Now it's up to Crash and Coco to beat Cortex's mutants to get to the Gems and
Crystals before Cortex and once again foil his evil plans. Oh yeah...Crash is
back and he's ready! With his trademark stride and famous prank-filled
gameplay, join Crash and his little sister Coco as they warp into a whole new
adventure!

5. ITEMS-------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

===========================================================================
CRYSTALS
===========================================================================

In each stage 1 to 25 is a Crystal. In most stages, all you have to do is walk
up and get it. In some stages, i.e. motorcycle and plane stages, you must
complete a certain task to acquire it.

===========================================================================
GEMS
===========================================================================

In each stage 1 to 32 is at least one gem. You get gems for doing one of four
things:

* Getting box completion (clear gems)
* Completing a Death Route (colored gems)
* Completing a Colored Gem Route (clear gems)
* Getting all 30 Gold relics (1 clear gem).

There are 45 gems in the entire game. Get them all to help towards your 105%
maximum score.

Note: In my gem strategies, when I refer to a count as in the "normal area",
that means all parts of the stage except the bonus stage (gem routes counting
as "normal area")

===========================================================================
RELICS
===========================================================================

In each stage 1 to 32 (except for 27 and 29) there is a time trial mode. The
object is to get to the end with the best time possible. These reward you with
one of three kinds of relics:

*Sapphire: Get through the stage without the Running Shoes and most time
boxes.

*Gold: Get through the stage with the Running Shoes and most time boxes.

*Platinum: Get through the stage with the Running Shoes, the straightest path,
and all the time boxes. Getting all 30 is a very challenging task, but it can
be done.

===========================================================================
BOXES
===========================================================================

I did a count, and I calculated there are 1,961 boxes in the entire game, and
you must smash every one of them at least once to get 105%.
There are many different types of boxes, including:

BREAKABLE BOXES (ones counted)

*Normal Boxes: Worth one to 10 fruit.
*Striped Boxes: Worth 10 fruit. Must jump on to get all of it.
*? Box: Worth one to 10 fruit or an extra life.
*Timer Box: Get whatever is showing. If you wait too long, they turn into
unbreakable steel.
*Crash Box: Worth one extra life.
*Aku Aku Box: Gives you protection from one hit. Get three for temporary
invincibility.
*TNT Box: Jump on, then you get three seconds to get out of there.
*C Box: Acts as a save point for each level.
*Arrow Box: Bounce on to get items in the air.
*Nitro Boxes: Touch and get blown to smithereens.

UNBREAKABLE BOXES (not counted)

*Steel Boxes:  Unusable.
*! Boxes: Changes something in the level.
*Green ! Boxes: Detonates all Nitro boxes in the level.
*Steel Arrow Box: Same as normal Arrow box.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. CHARACTERS--------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

===========================================================================
THE GOOD GUYS
===========================================================================

Crash Bandicoot: Generally, the hero of the whole series. He has handed Cortex
two losses in two games. In Crash 2 though, he was partners with Cortex for a
while.

Coco Bandicoot: Crash's little sister. First introduced in Crash 2, here she's
a playable character. All she does is ride a multitude of things.

Pura the Tiger: Coco's pet tiger. Pura helps Coco get across the Great Wall of
China.

Aku Aku: Crash and Coco's spirit friend. He helps the duo by hiding masks in
the stages that give them an extra hit point.

===========================================================================
THE BAD GUYS
===========================================================================

Dr. Neo Cortex: The villain of the Crash series. Here, Cortex is aided by a
surprise character...

Uka Uka: ...who just happens to be Cortex's boss and Aku Aku's brother. Uka
Uka was released bfrom his temple prison when the Cortex Vortex crahsed into
it. The final confrontation puts the two pairs of enemies in a
winner-takes-all match.

Tiny the Tiger: Any relation to Pura? No. This time, he has turned into an
ancient Roman gladiator. Just beware all of the lions.

Dinogdile: He's a crocodile/dingo who hides out in the ice ages with a flamer
gun big enough to melt the ice ages. Don't get him mad.

Dr. Nefarious (N.) Tropy: The inventor of the Time Twister machine is quite the
toughie. He likes to play with magnets and magnet beams.

Dr. N. Gin: What is that thing planted in his head? We probably don't want to
know what it is. To beat him, try deactivating his firepower.

7. WALKTHROUGH-------------------------------------------------------------

===========================================================================
WARP AREA 1
===========================================================================

LEVEL 1: TOAD VILLAGE
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 42
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 10
-1 Boxes: 6
-2 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 2

*Gems*

Clear Gem: Most stages have you going back and forth trying to get all of the
boxes. In Toad Village, this is not a problem. The normal stage's 35 boxes
are always visible and require no extensive searching. The only problem you
will have with getting all of these are the flashing boxes. Once you're within
a certain distance, they will flash faster and faster until they turn into
steel boxes. If one starts to speed up, drop everything you're doing to get
it. This same principle applies to all stages with these.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:03.00
*Gold: 57.50
*Platinum: 44.03

Most stages have complex steps required to get Gold and Platinum relics,
including starting your run at a specific moment so everything is in order.
The first stage you'll run into this problem is High Time (I think). There is
nothing to getting at least Gold on this stage. To tell the truth, I had
problems getting Platinum the first few times I tried. There are only 8 time
boxes here, plus no invincibility is available, so this one is pure luck and
skill

*Bonus Stage* (7 boxes)
An ASCII diagram will soon replace every bonus stage walkthrough. Here is one
of them.

*Time Trial Boxes*

-1 Boxes: 4
-2 Boxes: 2
-3 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem: This is also one of those stages that doesn't require extensive
searching (that will change very soon). You must keep that jet sub as long as
you can in each situation. Many boxes are hidden inside the coral. Only the
torpedoes can blow that stuff away. Besides that, just be weary of the aquatic
enemies, mines, and spinning electric wheels.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:46.00
*Gold: 1:17.90
*Platinum: 1:10.50

These swimming stages can be really easy if you can keep a few things in mind:
*All time boxes are useful and easily accessible (most of the time)
*You can't shoot a torpedo with the jet sub while in a dash.
*Try to go head-on with the wheels to get to the required passages quicker.
*Again, watch out for any enemies in your way.

Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 24
-1 Boxes: 17
-2 Boxes: 3
-3 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 2

*Gems*

Clear Gem: This can be the hardest Clear Gem to get in the first warp area. It
is very easy to just run by and and miss a box. Since you can't go backwards,
I recommend coming in with quite a few lives unless you want to keep doing it
over and over again. After a few tries, you can almost get all of them while
fast running.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire:  41.00
*Gold: 27.80
*Platinum: 18.10

This is probably the hardest stage in the first warp area (and one of the
hardest in the game) to get a Platinum relic on. In order to achieve this
feat, you'll be putting your Pura the Tiger skills to the test. You must hit
every time box and keep speed running the enitre stage. If it took you a while
to get all of the boxes, and you still don't know the layout well, try Level
10, then come back and it should be easier.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 4: BONE YARD
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 66
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: At the end of the second dinosaur chase, just above the goal.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 9
-1 Boxes: 3
-2 Boxes: 3
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: This is the first stage in the game that you can get two gems.
The Red Gem is not required if you want this one. 2/3 of the stage involves
racing a giant Triceratops through an area littered with Pteryodactyls,
barriers, and lava pits. All the boxes in these areas can be smashed by it,
and yes, they count, but you don't get any rewards (except time boxes). For
the rest of the area (the middle), just watch out for those scientists lurking
in the swampy water.

Clear Gem #2: To get this, you must have gotten the Red Gem from Level 12 (Deep
Trouble). About halfway through the stage, you will see a red gem platform.
Jump on it to travel to the next area. This area involves another dinosaur
chase. Hit the steel C box, then make a run for it. Unless you are very good
at dodging the lava and grass, come here with the Running Shoes.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:45.00
*Gold: 1:40.20
*Platinum: 1:21.00

As stated above, any time boxes broken by the dinosaur will count towards the
clock being frozen. Run like the wind and make sure not to make any very major
errors or you can kiss Platinum good bye. Remember, you can get invincibility.
 Use it to barrel your way through the middle 1/3 of this level.

*Bonus Stage* (14 boxes)
ASCII to the rescue! As all others, this is not to scale.

LEVEL 5: MAKIN' WAVES
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 37
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 21
-1 Boxes: 10
-2 Boxes: 6
-3 Boxes: 3
Aku Aku Boxes: 2

*Gems*

Clear Gem: First Coco rides a tiger, now she rides a jet ski. The jet ski
stages are normally the hardest stages (besides the plane areas) to get all the
items. With the 3-D effect, not available in the Great Wall stages, you can go
back in the stage to get any box you miss. They are all set up on a
straightforward line, so this won't be needed. Just follow that yellow area
and be careful of the cannonballs and bombs.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:08.00
*Gold: 58.23
*Platinum: 53.23

Because it's the first jet ski stage, it should be the easiest. You must hit
every time box and take the absolute shortest path (basic Platinum strategy).
Sapphire is easy, Gold is O.K., and Platinum can become mind-boggling. Lots of
luck is needed here.

===========================================================================
BOSS 1: TINY
===========================================================================

ENERGY = = =

If anyone has played Crash 2, you'll recognize this guy from being the boss of
the 3rd world. This time, instead of making him fall to his doom, you must
actually hit him. As easy as it may sound, it isn't.

1ST HIT
After the small introduction, Tiny will pick up a pitchfork, and jump onto the
coliseum floor. After he jumps around five times, he'll get his pitchfork
stuck in the ground. That is your time to get in your hit. Go for it.

2ND HIT
After Tiny falls and breaks his pitchfork, he'll jump back up to his perch and
open the gates. If anyone remembers what happens when gates in a coliseum
open, lions come out. The best strategy is to not just spin them, but do a
combo of spinning and jumping. After that's over, he'll grab another
pitchfork, and jump back down. This time, he'll jump six times. When he gets
the pitchfork stuck in the ground, whack him again.

3RD HIT
You need to be observant to get by Tiny again. This time, the gates open, and
more lions come out. Use the same technique to defeat them. For his final
sequence, he'll pick another pitchfork and jumps seven times. Hit him and Tiny
is history, and you'll get the Powered Body-Slam.

LEVEL 6: GEE WIZ
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 100
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: At the end, in front of the Nitro wall blocking the exit.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 12
-1 Boxes: 6
-2 Boxes: 2
-3 Boxes: 1
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem: If Toad Village was a problem, you'll hate this stage. The frogs
and sword guys are back, plus there are now wizards with homing spark balls.
The 82 boxes in the normal area are as straightforward as Toad Village, except
there are plenty more here. You must hit the Nitro ! Box at the end to blow up
the wall in front of the goal.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:35.00
*Gold:  1:22.73
*Platinum:  1:05.90

There is a major lack of time boxes here as well. The one good thing is you
can get invincibility on this stage. Just be careful not to die because of
stupid reasons and it's almost impossible not to get at least a Gold.

*Bonus Stage* (18 boxes)
Just go right, hitting 13 boxes, until you reach the ! box. Destroy the box
under the outlines, then hit the ! box and the box that appears. Go up, hit
the next ! box, then get the last 3 boxes.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 7: HANG 'EM HIGH
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 96
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: Just in front of the last genie dude.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 12
-1 Boxes: 3
-2 Boxes: 4
-3 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem: Getting all 76 boxes in the normal area can be mighty tricky. The
hanging sections can be floating graves if you can't dodge the scorpions. In
two cases on this stage, there are boxes almost offscreen above some tarps.
Either get a really high jump or come back with the Double Jump after you
defeat Dingodile.

Yellow Gem: You can't get the Yellow Gem right now. Gather 10 relics, then go
into Level 27 (below).

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:24.00
*Gold: 52.63
*Platinum: 43.80

This is one of the shortest stages in the game, but it's as hard as any other
one. As in Gee Wiz, you can get three Aku Akus, allowing you to move quickly
through the second hanging area and to the stack of boxes with a Nitro on top.
Don't worry about either of the ! boxes at the end of the stage. Just focus on
getting to the end.

*Bonus Stage* (20 boxes)
Hit the first set of 3 boxes, then ignore the 4 in the air and hit the next 8.
Now, go back and get the 4 you passed up. Now go right, and bounce on the last
time box when it's showing TNT. This will hit the ! box, which will activate
the steel arrow box to get the last 4 boxes.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 8: HOG RIDE
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 13
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 5
-1 Boxes: 2
-2 Boxes: 2
-3 Boxes: 1

*Gems*

Clear Gem: In the motorcycle stages, the situation is the same as in the Great
Wall stages: You can't go backwards. This shouldn't be a problem, as the most
boxes there ever is on a motorcycle stage is 25 (Road Crash, Level 14). This
one has only 13, so you should get this on your first try.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire:  45.00
*Gold:  41.43
*Platinum:  35.03

Although this should be in the tricks section, I'll put it here. This is the
only mototrcycle stage that allows you to hold the first possible wheelie until
the last possible moment you can hold a wheelie. Translation: You can hold a
wheelie for the entire stage. Getting all of the time boxes while doing this
requires extensive practice, but it can be done within a few tries.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 9: TOMB TIME
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 95
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 16
-1 Boxes: 8
-2 Boxes: 3
-3 Boxes: 1
Aku Aku Boxes: 4

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: To get the 76 boxes within the normal area, you must have the
Purple Gem from Level 13 (High Time). Read #2 on how to get all the boxes.

Clear Gem #2: As stated before, you must have the Purple Gem. Work your way
through to the fork in the road. At this point, use a short Super Combo to
cross the pit on the left side. Enter the secret area, and go all the way up
to where the clear gem is. Make sure you have gotten all the boxes in this
area, then go back through the section to the fork. Now take the normal path
and get all the boxes to get the other one.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:42.00
*Gold: 1:10.00
*Platinum: 53.90

To be honest, this was the LAST stage that I got a Platinum relic on. It
bugged me for so long I made a cry for help to anyone who could help me. A
couple hours after that, I got this with a time of 53.00 and updated it the
very next day.

To get this, you must put all of your tomb level skills to the test. Whrn you
reach a switch, just run across it and KEEP RUNNING! You do have time to hit
the ! boxes, but you must time it perfectly. Sliding across the oily stuff
chops a good deal of time of. To get that -3 box near the end, use
invincibility and be perfect up to that point. It should wear off just as the
clock has been frozen for about 1-2 seconds.

*Bonus Stage* (19 boxes)
Jump on the 3 TNT boxes to destroy them, then break the next three boxes. Jump
onto one of the next 3 TNT's to blow up all three. In the next column, break
the two bottom boxes, then bounce off the top box to the 1-up box above the
steel boxes. Break the last two boxes and it's over.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 10: MIDNIGHT RUN
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 35
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 19
-1 Boxes: 7
-2 Boxes: 5
-3 Boxes: 5
Aku Aku Boxes: 2

*Gems*

Clear Gem: There may be less boxes in here then in Orient Express, but now you
have to use the fast running to get the flying boxes (the ones on balloons).
Plus, the enemies are more numerous and the challenge level goes flying up.
Just focus and pray you don't lose too many lives.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 53.00
*Gold: 38.23
*Platinum: 18.20

If you can get it on Orient Express, you can get it here. There is such a
margin for each relic it's not funny. But, you still need to perform the same
procedure as in Orient Express, which is hitting all time boxes and fast
running the whole area. You should get Platinum no problem, unless you die
near the end.

===========================================================================
BOSS 2: DINGODILE
===========================================================================

ENERGY = = =

Whose bright idea was it to place a guy with a giant flame thrower in an
ice-filled room? Note that you cannot get through the crystals until they are
"melted". What's different about this battle is you can run around in a 360
degree circle.

1ST HIT
After the intro, Dingodile will shoot a green ray up into the sky. Crystals
will come down, but they won't harm you. For the first attack, he will shoot
fireballs in the sky while spinning in a 360 degree circle. You'll see the
shadows for where they'll land, so get between the shadows to dodge them.
After that's all done, he'll begin shooting his flame ray, busting through the
crystals (finally!). When there's a big enough opening, go in and whack him.
After that, you'll get about 2 to 4 seconds to get along the rim of the stage
before his thrower blows up, chopping off 1 hit point.

2ND HIT
After the new set of crystals come down, he'll do the fireball routine while
spinning, then he'll do it again. After that, he'll do the flame ray thing
again. Again, spin around to avoid the rays until there's a sufficient opening
in the crystals, then whack him and retreat.

3RD HIT
The final series is the toughest of the three. This time, the fireballs will
come down in PAIRS. That gives you less than 1 3/4 Crash widths to get between
the shadows, so be accurate. After the fireballs, he'll do the flame ray thing
for the 3rd time. Wait for the crystals to clear out, then go in and give him
a death blow. But remember to get out, because it you get blown up even here,
you have to restart. The Double Jump will be the reward for winning this
battle.

WARP AREA 3
===========================================================================
===========================================================================
LEVEL 11: DINO MIGHT!
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 112
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: At the end of the yellow gem area.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 23
-1 Boxes: 12
-2 Boxes: 5
-3 Boxes: 4
Aku Aku Boxes: 2

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: To get all of the boxes in this level, you must first get 10
relics, then go to the platform in front of the Load/Save monitor and enter
Level 27 to get the Yellow Gem (below). If you have the Yellow Gem, go down to
#2.

Clear Gem #2: As stated above, you need the Yellow Gem from Level 27. From the
beginning, get all the boxes up to the side-scrolling section except the first
C box. Once you're up to the side-scrolling section, go back, hit that C box,
then jump onto the yellow gem platform. This area is about 1/2 to 3/4 the size
of the normal area. Work your way through the fish section, aross the
side-scrolling, and the dinosaur chase. At the end, jump over the yellow gem,
then perform a Super Combo (without the spin) to get over the wall and get some
1-ups. Go back over, jump on the gem, and complete the rest of the stage,
getting all boxes to get the other gem.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:34.00
*Gold: 1:25.76
*Platinum: 1:03.00

If you are hording up your Aku Akus during each trial, this stage is not a good
place to do so. You should use the Aku Akus to burst through the enemies and
get by quicker. As usuall, all time boxes and a straight path help out a lot
too.

*Bonus Stage (25 boxes)*
25 boxes. 24 Belly-Flop and 1 jump/spin. No more needs to be said.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 12: DEEP TROUBLE
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 83
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: In front of the hidden exit.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 15
-1 Boxes: 6
-2 Boxes: 3
-3 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 4

*Gems*

Clear Gem: To get all 83 boxes you must explore both parts of this level. See
the Red Gem part below to find out how to do this.

Red Gem: You'll come to a point in this stage where there will be a barrier of
steel boxes and a few normal boxes. There will be one outline. Follow the
normal course to the end, hit the ! box, then go back to the barrier. Activate
the new TNT box to make the barrier passable. Complete this hidden area and
you'll get two gems: the Red for getting through, and the Clear for having a
box count of 83/83.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:47.00
*Gold: 1:25.13
*Platinum: 1:18.36

This shouldn't take you too long. This was the third area I got a Platinum
relic on (Hot Coco and Eggipus Rex came before). Use the 4 Aku Akus to blast
through those pesky water twisters. Don't worry about the second path. There
is no need to take it. Also use the strategies listed for Level 2 as they
apply to both stages.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 13: HIGH TIME
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 85
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 10
-1 Boxes: 2
-2 Boxes: 3
-3 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem: Getting all the boxes on this stage is the easy task. Getting
through alive is the hard part. A new enemy to this stage is the cocktail
thrower. If you see a burnt spot below your feet, move away so you don't get
fried when he throws a cocktail. Otherwise, just watch out for the other
enemies.

Purple Gem: This is the first of three stages in the game with a death route in
them. Get to those points in the stages without dying and you can take the
platform to a route leading to a colored gem. The Bazooka is recommended here,
as in all of the death routes. Get to the end and you will be rewarded with
the Purple Gem.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 2:04.00
*Gold: 1:04.10
*Platinum: 56.96

If you had a choice to delete any stage in this game, this would probably be it
(Mad Bombers is second). To even get Gold you must have near-ultimate
perfection. The time to take off is just before the second flame goes out.
Time all correctly, and it will be laid out perfectly for you. Hitting all
time boxes and getting invincibility are also involved with getting a good
time.

*Bonus Stage (19 boxes)*
Use the Double Jump to go over the steel box column and get the first 8 boxes.
In the next column, break the two normal boxes, then Double Jump on top of the
reinforced boxes and do a Belly Flop. Slide and Double Jump to get the ? box
above the 6 others, then just use any method to clean up shop.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 14: ROAD CRASH
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 25
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 25
-1 Boxes: 21
-2 Boxes: 4

*Gems*

Clear Gem: This is not very hard at all. Take it slow and you should have no
problem getting this. Note the location of every box, as this will affect your
fate in Time Trial.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:25.00
*Gold: 1:20.70
*Platinum: 1:17.10

As mentioned before, know the location of every box, as all 25 of them assume
the role of being time boxes. Yep, all 25. IMO, this is actually not very
hard to do. Holding wheelies becomes a problem, but you'll tough it out. This
goes on my list of the 15 hardest stages to get a Platinum Relic.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 15: DOUBLE HEADER
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 91
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: At the end.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 12
-1 Boxes: 4
-2 Boxes: 3
-3 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem: There are no secrets to getting all boxes on this or any other
medieval stage. All you need to do is stay on path and make sure to not let
the giants push you around.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:27.00
*Gold: 1:21.16
*Platinum: 59.73

This can be a really easy stage if you keep one thing in mind: You can run
along the edges of this stage, on the border ledges. It may even save you some
time. Jumping around the giants is also good, but make sure not to end up in a
pit. Get invincibility and blah blah blah to get this.

*Bonus Stage (30 boxes)*
Get the 4 above the first arrow box, then destroy it. Break one of the boxes
in the next stack and Double Jump on the arrow and use it to bounce for 3
boxes, then destroy the rest of the stack. Double Jump over the TNT stack and
don't destroy that or the arrow. Go right and hit the ! box and three other
boxes, then go back and get the new boxes above the arrow, then clean up there.
 Double Jump on the final arrow and get those boxes, then get rid of the arrow
stack to end up at 30/30 boxes.

===========================================================================
BOSS 3: N. TROPY
===========================================================================

ENERGY = = =

This is the first boss that's actually hard to beat. Actually, he's almost the
hardest one to beat.

1ST HIT
After the intro, he'll create a platform in front of the one you're on. His
first attack is he'll shoot a homing missile. Just jump over it. After that,
he'll throw three magnetic blasts at you. Dodge them, then he'll create a
series of stepping stones to him. Jump across them, then whack him.

2ND HIT
Now he'll go to the other side, and create another, yet smaller, platform.
This time, he'll shoot two missiles. Jump the first one, and Double Jump the
second one. After that, he'll shoot four blasts at you. Jump across the
stepping stones when they appear, and hit him again.

3RD HIT
He'll go back to the other side, and create an even smaller platform. This
time, he'll shoot THREE missiles. Jump the first one, Double Jump the second
one, and duck the third one. After he shoots five magnetic blasts at you, he'll
create the stepping stones. Hit him and he'll cough up the Continuous Spin
ability.

LEVEL 16: SPHYNXINATOR
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 105

Nitro ! Box: Between the last door and the goal.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 24
-1 Boxes: 12
-2 Boxes: 6
-3 Boxes: 3
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: Ever wondered why you've gone forward through the stage getting
all the boxes and only end up with 101? Ever tried going backwards from the
start? You may find the last 4 boxes, then the rest of this level is nothing
but jumping, spinning, and dodging a great number of dangers.

Clear Gem #2: This gem requires you to get the Blue Gem from Level 20 (Tomb
Wader). After the three walls of boxes with six per wall, you'll see the blue
gem platform. Jump on it. In this area, there are two steel C boxes,
switches, the potted monkeys, and oil, oil, OIL! Keep sliding and dodge
everything to get your reward, a clear gem.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:42.00
*Gold: 1:22.63
*Platinum: 56.70

Remember those 4 boxes behind the starting point? Come here with the Bazooka,
and go to them, but keep them intact. Shoot the clock, then what happens to
two of those boxes? They're -3 boxes. Hit them, then make a large run for it
through the stage. Take advantage of invincibility near the end to burst
through the doors and potted monkeys to claim your prize.

*Bonus Stage (28 boxes)*
Jump on one of the TNT boxes to destroy the first 6. For the next part, bounce
off the top TNT to get the high box, then proceed right. Jump over the two TNT
boxes only if you want that extra life. Otherwise, activate them. Once all
those are gone, go near the end and break one of the two normal boxes so the
TNT is activated. When the reinforced box is alone, use the Belly Flop to
break it.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 17: BYE BYE BLIMPS
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 11

balloon or break the box to get these.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:09.00
*Gold: 58.40
*Platinum: 51.50

Getting all 7 blimps in less than 51 1/2 seconds can be a real pain. There are
no time boxes or special faster speeds to take. How do you get it? Developing
your own solution is the best way. There are quite a few possible paths to
take to get it. Just make sure not to end up with the last blimp around 10
seconds away from you.

-1 Boxes: 16
-2 Boxes: 19
-3 Boxes: 9
Aku Aku Boxes: 2

*Gem*

Clear Gem: Getting the 56 boxes along the normal path is easy. Unfortunately,
you need to search a little harder here. When you come to a sequence after the
second C box with three jumps very close together, turn right and go around the
ship there. You'll find the last 5 you need to get this gem.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:42.00
*Gold: 1:25.66
*Platinum: 1:05.23

I've heard from other FAQs that the best way to get Gold and Platinum are to
get the 5 boxes (all -3 boxes) explained above. I'll say this from my personal
experience going for it is that you actually lose some time trying to get these
boxes. The trick is to stay on course, take the fastest path, and hit every
time box EXCEPT those five.

===========================================================================

Clear Gem #1: To get all 133 boxes on Future Frenzy, gather 20 relics, then
access Level 29 (below).

Clear Gem #2: To get this gem, gather 20 relics, then access Level 29 (below).

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 2:01.00
*Gold: 1:34.00
*Platinum: 1:19.66

This can be considered one of the largest margins to get Platinum in the game.
With the multiple ways to slash time here, you should get Platinum on your
first trial with the Running Shoes. For the first area, just jump around all
of the lasers and remember the -3 box behind the first Nitro. When you access
the side-scrolling part, it is very important to get invincibility and just
make a wild run for it. Use up your last 2 Aku Akus in the final stretch to
the goal and this should be no problem.

*Bonus Stage (19 boxes)*
Use the moves on the signs and this is no problem.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 20: TOMB WADER

#: 88
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: At the end.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 11
-1 Boxes: 6
-2 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem: Odds are you will pass by every box in the normal area. They are
set up this way because the level itself is very, very hard to complete.

Blue Gem: If the normal area is very, very hard, this is very, very difficult.
When you hit the second C box, you'll see it right there. What's different
about thus death path is it's the only one without a steel C box, so you must
get through it in one try or you have to restart it (the death path, not the
stage itself). If you are lucky enough to complete it, the Blue Gem will be
sitting right at the end, a few steps away from an exit to this insane area.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 2:44.00
*Gold: 1:45.00
*Platinum: 1:24.00

This is one of those stages under the "Timing is Everything" category. Time it
correctly, and you'll get a Platinum. Time it incorrectly, and you can still
get Platinum, but it's very hard. Here's the trick to beating the water: Start
your run as soon as that bug guarding the tomb is on the far right side. If
you get it right, this stage can be very easy to complete.

*Bonus Stage (25 boxes)*
Figure it out.  It's easy.

===========================================================================
BOSS 5: N. GIN
===========================================================================

ENERGY
1st Phase = = = = =
2nd Phase = = = = = = =

This is a two part boss, so I will do the description by phase. Note: You can
only shoot a certain part if the part is yellow, with one exception.

PHASE 1
N. Gin's armor shell has five parts:
*The missile launchers on his left and right shoulders
*The two machine guns on his arms
*The yellow orb in the middle

The quickest way to defeat N. Gin is to take out the machine guns first. If
you shoot quickly and accurately enough, you will take it down without it
shooting. After that, take down the missile launchers and the yellow orb. The
whole time, you'll probably be shooting down the missiles from the launchers
and orb.

PHASE 2
After defeating N. Gin's armor shell, he will retreat in his ship and go to a
more powerful ship. Since you'll probably need more power, Pura the Tiger will
give you a good boost in your firepower. Here is an ASCII diagram of N. Gin's
giant ship.
         __   __   __   __
        |4_|_|5_|_|6_|_|7_|
    __ /                   \ __
   |2_|                     |3_|
       \___________________/
               |_1_|

1: Shoots out a yellow energy block that will do a lot of damage, but can be
destroyed.
2-3: Shoots out a purple orb that will do 6% damage, and can't be destroyed.
4-7: Missile launchers, like the ones from Phase 1.

The numbers tell the best order to take them out. Note: The bottom target (1)
can be taken out without the yellow showing. If you defeat N. Gin here, you'll
get the Fruit Bazooka.

-1 Boxes: 11
-2 Boxes: 5
-3 Boxes: 2
Aku Aku Boxes: 4

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: To get all 70 boxes outside the bonus stage, you must have the
Green Gem from Level 23 (Flaming Passion). If you do, see #2. (That rhyme was
not intended to be a rhyme).

Clear Gem #2: As stated before, you must have the Green Gem to complete this.
Go through the stage the normal way, but don't hit either:
*the first arrow box,
*the first C box, or
*the TNT box above the steel bridge on the side-scrolling section.
Go to the Green Gem route, get the gem, then take the gem back to the stage.
It will drop you off near the first arrow box. Get the new box above it, then
hit the arrow box. Now proceed through the stage as usual, getting all boxes.
Use the TNT box above the steel bridge to get the two boxes below it .

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 2:05.00
*Gold: 1:25.60
*Platinum: 1:02.13

Ever wondered how to get by those giant mechs? Get around them the same way
you get by the lasers: jump around them. What's unique about this area is you
can get invincibility TWICE. You can get it once in the side-scrolling area
and again on the final stretch. To get Platinum, make every effort to get
invincibiltiy both times and to get all time boxes.

*Bonus Stage (17 boxes)*
Take out everything with the Bazooka. It's really easy.

*Boxes*
#: 20
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 11
-1 Boxes: 8
-2 Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear: As in every motorcycle stage, take it slow to get all of the boxes,
which in this case is 20. Right near the end though, you must combine a
wheelie pad with a ramp to get a box over a small pit.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:36.00
*Gold: 1:31.30
*Platinum: 1:21.80

If you cannot take the time to learn the course layout or how to keep really
long wheelies, have fun here. Truly, this is the hardest stage to keep a
wheelie on (Area 51? is a so very close 2nd). Learn how to hold them and have
good luck and this shouldn't be much of a problem.

===========================================================================

*Time Trial Boxes*

-1 Boxes: 2
-2 Boxes: 2
-3 Boxes: 1

*Gems*

Clear Gem: Getting all of the boxes here is easy and doesn't require a lot of
extensive searching. Just use the Bazooka on every enemy and this is so easy.

Green Gem: You'll find the death route a few feet past the fiery upwards climb.
 As with the others, use the Bazooka to clear a path and hit the C box. You
will get the Green Gem, then will be returned to the normal area.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:43.00
*Gold: 1:13.10
*Platinum: 59.40

This is one of those stages that you wish you knew when to start, but you have
to use your own judgment to get this right. This can be one of the hardest
stages to get a Platinum relic on.

*Bonus Stage (28 boxes)*
You can beat it. I have Bug Lite's bonus area to talk about.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 24: MAD BOMBERS

*Platinum: 1:38.16

I'll say this short and simple: If anyone thinks Platinum is impossible,
reconsider. All this stage takes is practice, pinpoint accuracy, and a lot of
barrel spins. Never, EVER hit the X button, as it will slow you down. Within
a few trials you will be able to obliterate the Platinum time.

===========================================================================

Aku Aku Boxes: 4

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: There are only 80 boxes here outside the bonus stage. That's 2/3
of the boxes. Not very many. Just keep your eyes open, as this can be a
spooky stage if you run out of light.

Clear Gem #2: To get this gem you must have all five colored gems. Jump on the
blue gem to be transported to this area. Here is a list of mini-challenges you
need to complete.
1st Area: A long area littered with poison darts.
2nd Area: A series of arrows popping out of the floor and plenty of Nitro
boxes.
3rd Area: A series of falling blocks and moving platforms.
4th Area: A series of the mummy guys in the spiked half-coffins.
5th Area: Get the gem, then jump onto the falling block, then to the exit.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:49.00
*Gold: 1:34.86
*Platinum: 1:14.90

Despite the factor of limited lighting, this is probably one of the easiest
stages to get relics on. As in Flaming Passion, you need to use your judgment
to get by the 2 sets of closing doors. Near halfway through, you can get
invincibility from the stack of three Aku Akus. Luck out and this is easy.

*Bonus Stage (40 boxes)*
The ultimate in hard Bonus Stages! To make it easier to get through, I decided
to do an ASCII diagram for this bonus stage. Although all the boxes are shown,
it might not be to scale.

ENERGY = = =

If the game is played out the regular way, you will battle Cortex twice in the
game. (See Tricks section to find out how to only beat him once.) Each battle
is exactly the same, except the first time you get the Running Shoes, the
second time you get nothing.

1ST HIT
Each hit, the masks's attack are different. For this first part, they will
shoot straight lasers between them. To put this plain and simple, JUMP THE
LASER! You'll have to do this while Cortex shoots his missiles. After he
shoots the missiles, he'll throw out five mines, then drop his shield. Go up,
and whack him to drop him to the ground. Now quickly spin him and try to knock
him into the opened vent. It gets harder each time. Whenever the vent is
open, all attacks cease, except yours.

2ND HIT
This time, the masks will get entangled and spin around in a figure 8 pattern
around the room. The attacks just keep getting harder to attack. Again, dodge
the missiles, then whack him when he drops his shield, while being careful not
to step on a mine. This time it is harder to knock Cortex into the vent.

3RD HIT
Now, the masks get really mad and attempt to blow each other, and you, to
smithereens. Simply enough, keep them on the left side, then get out of there,
because the blast will cover almost 1/4 of the whole room. You'll need to
dodge the missile and mine attacks one more time before you can whack him.
This time, it's REALLY hard to get him in the vent. If you can get him in
again, he's gone.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 26: SKI CRAZED (requires 5 relics)
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 100
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: In the air in the final stretch of stage.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 68
-1 Boxes: 26
-2 Boxes: 30
-3 Boxes: 9
Aku Aku Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem: This is a very long stage to complete, with the 100 boxes being
spread out throughout the course. All it takes is a little exploration to get
this.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:16.00
*Gold: 50.50
*Platinum: 33.30

This stage has the most time boxes, with 68. It's so amazing how you can keep
the clock totally frozen for half of the stage. Use the 3 Aku Akus to blast
through the bombs blocking your path.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 27: HANG 'EM HIGH (requires 10 relics)
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: See Level 7
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: Behind you a few feet when you reenter Level 7.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: See Level 7

*Gems*

Clear Gem: See Level 7

Yellow Gem: The yellow gem will be at the end of this short area. There is a
sequence that involves you bouncing over a series of gradually rising Nitro
boxes. Just time your jumps correctly and you'll make it.

*Time Trial*
See Level 7.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 28: AREA 51? (requires 15 relics)
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 24
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 16
-1 Boxes: 13
-2 Boxes: 3

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: Getting all 24 boxes on this stage is quite a challenge. All you
have for lights are your headlights and the UFO's. As other stages, take it
slow and you'll make it. It will take a few minutes to get all 24, so try not
to mess up.

Clear Gem #2: To get this gem, you must end the course in 1st place. Hold each
wheelie until your thumb hurts and this is a piece of cake. You should be
first for almost half of this stage.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:53.00
*Gold: 1:49.83
*Platinum: 1:44.50

Use the same strategy as getting 1st place, plus get all 16 time boxes. You
should be able to get at least a Gold relic here.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 29: FUTURE FRENZY (requires 20 relics)
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: See Level 19
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: At the end of Level 19.

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: See Level 19

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: See Clear #2

Clear Gem #2: Complete this area to get one gem, then go into Level 19. From
there, go back to the beginning of the stage to get all the boxes you missed,
then go forward in the area to get the rest of them. If your box total at the
end is 133/133, you'll get the other gem.

*Time Trial*
See Level 19.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 30: RINGS OF POWER (requires 25 relics)
===========================================================================

*Boxes*
#: 33
Nitro Boxes: Yes
Nitro ! Box: N/A (shoot the Nitros down)

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 0

*Gems*

Clear Gem #1: Get all 33 boxes. Use the same strategy as in the other two
plane stages.

Clear Gem #2: You need to place in 1st. Spin through as many rings as you can
and this is easy.

*Time Trial*
*Sapphire: 1:20.00
*Gold: 1:01.46
*Platinum: 51.73

To get the best time, you must spin through all 30 rings. Note: You only need
to hit the side of the ring for it to count.

TOP SECRET LEVELS
===========================================================================
===========================================================================
LEVEL 31: HOT COCO
===========================================================================

 Don't forget the Nitro ! Box.

*Time Trial*

then jam it right back.

===========================================================================
LEVEL 32: EGGIPUS REX

dinosaur chase. In that chase, let the second Pteryodactyl carry you away to
this area.

*Boxes*
#: 0
Nitro Boxes: No

*Time Trial Boxes*
#: 0

*Gems*

Clear Gem: Just make it to the end.

*Time Trial*
*Platinum: Automatic
*Developer's Time: 41.10

Very simple. Just watch out for the steam jets and the Pteryodactyls and you
can get the easiest Platinum in the game.

===========================================================================
BOSS 6?: N. CORTEX
===========================================================================

After gathering all of the Gold Relics, you will battle Cortex again. It's
exactly the same as before.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. CODES/TRICKS------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

===========================================================================
BEAT CORTEX ONLY ONCE!!!!!
===========================================================================

Here's an interesting trick. Gather all 25 crystals, then go into battle with
Cortex. As soon as you can, pause and select Warp Room. Levels 21 to 25 will
reappear. Now go through, and gather 25 crystals, 44 gems, and 30 relics
(103%). Now go back and battle Cortex. It will be the 2nd battle! You will
still get the Running Shoes at the end, but you won't need to battle him again.

===========================================================================
THE SUPER COMBO
===========================================================================

Reading Game Informer, I came across a Crash Bandicoot: Warped trick guide. In
it was the following move (I put it in my own words):

1. In order to do this, you must have the Double Jump from Dingodile and the
Continuous Spin from N. Tropy.

2. First, run and slide.

3. While pressing forward, perform a Double Jump.

4. At the top of the second jump, while still pressing forward, perform a
Continuous Spin to glide great distances.

It's that easy!!

===========================================================================
THE 45TH GEM
===========================================================================

The 45th Gem is actually really easy to acquire. The trick is you must get all
30 relics Gold or better. The bad part: All you get for getting all 30
Platinum relics is your own satisfaction (I had to learn that the hard way!).

===========================================================================
ALL GOLD WITHOUT RUNNING SHOES
===========================================================================

To do this, try using a series or slide jumps instead of normal running. This
saves enough time to even get it on High Time and Tomb Wader!

===========================================================================
SPYRO THE DRAGON DEMO
===========================================================================

To unlock the hidden demo of Spyro the Dragon, press up, up, down, down, left,
right, left, right, and [] at the New/Load Game screen.

===========================================================================
PREHISTORIC CRASH SIGHTINGS
===========================================================================

What did Crash look like when he was a prehistoric beast? To find out, get a
completion percentage of at least 100% (not 105% as I had thought before), then
go to one of these places:

TOAD VILLAGE: Near the last C box, look on the right side of the level into one
of the front yards of one of the houses. You'll see it.

MAKIN' WAVES: About halfway through the stage, you'll see him on the beach of
an island about halfway through. He's better to see here then in Toad Village.

If I find any more, I'll post it here. If you find one, send it to me. If I
find it using your directions, I'll put it here with credit to who found it.
Look at the bottom of this FAQ for my e-mail address. Seriously, I think there
are only two in the game, but there could be three.
