Final Fantasy IX
Question from natchooo
Excalibur II harder to get in EU version?
I was wondering... The EU version is running at 50Hz which makes the game slower, but - I guess - the clock runs as fast as it should, so same as NA and JP versions.
So it takes longer to finish the game in EU, hence does it make it harder to get Excalibur II, as you are supposed to make it to the near-end in less than 12 hours?
If i could I would modify this question but I do not see any edit button, so I answer to scottlane87 here:
I think a 60hz ps game runs at 30 images per second, while a 50hz one runs at 25 images per second.
So if this is right, in a 12h game, 1,296,000 images are displayed at 60hz, and if you do the opposite computing for 50hz, you get the same amount of images displayed in 14,4h.
My calculation might be wrong but I am sure the result is not negligible, especially when I got that sword in 11h24 in the NA version.
Accepted Answer
Yeah It's MUCH harder on the EU version
The game is 15% slower (or close to this) on the eu version
Its like you need to be 2 hours faster on the EU version to get Excalibur II
The EU people really got the short straw :(

.....A game running at 50hz is not gonna make a measurable time difference....certainly not within the hours prob makes a couple of seconds difference over the course of the whole game
