    =======================================================================
    CHAPTER 1 Ė THE MEAGER
    =======================================================================

    Hardest Battles to Easiest:

    Lenalia Plateau
    Zeklaus Desert
    Fort Zeakden
    Slums of Dorter
    Windmill Shed
    Thievesí Fort
    Sweegy Woods
    Gariland Magic City
    Mandalia Plains
    Orbonne Monastery

    Battle Guide:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    BATTLE #1: Orbonne Monastery
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
    Enemies: Knight, Chemist, Archer x3
Guests: Agrias Oaks, Gaff Gafgarion, Alicia, Lavian, Rad
    Difficulty: 1

This battle is weird because all you basically have to do is attack. You can
only move Ramza, all the others will move and attack themselves. Just be
careful not to die. Gafgarion will heal himself using his Night Sword absorb
spell, and Agrias uses another attack spell called Statis Sword. The other 3
knights (Alicia, Lavian, and Rad) might die, but they will not turn into a
crystal since they are help units. The knight Lezales will cause the most
damage, and will be hard to take out first, but persevere. Kill off the
archers, then the chemist, and finally the knight.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

One year ago... this battle happens.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    BATTLE #2: Gariland Magic City
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
    Enemies: Squire x4, Chemist
    Guests: Delita Hyral
    Difficulty: 2

If you basically know most of the Job system now, then this battle will be a
breeze. I didnít know much about tactics (this was my first tactics game) so
I had to beat this battle with ONLY Ramza and Delita! It was very hard.
Anyway, go right after the squire in front of you. Be careful of the chemist
since he will heal the wounded people. Two of your guys should go to the
right side and get rid of the squires there. Once you get rid of all the
squires, go after the chemist. He will continually try to heal himself but
will run out of potions. Attack him and you will beat the battle!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Equip the Mythril Knife on your Chemist and watch the death scene. Now go to
    Mandalia.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    BATTLE #3: Mandalia Plains
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat all enemies or Save Algus
Enemies: Thief, Squire x3, Red Panther
    Guests: Delita Hyral, Algus Sadalfas
    Difficulty: 1

If you choose the second option, you will have to save Algus. That means,
that if he dies, itís game over. It will be hard since Algus will want to
attack. Reset if he misses on his first try (thatís just rigged). You canít
control him as he will sometimes act crazy and get into a spot vulnerable to
most of the squires and thieves. 2 of your knights should go to the left,
hoping to take out the thief and the panther. Make sure no one in your party
turns into a crystal. If they do, just reset. Make sure to have a chemist
also, and have the others be squires (you donít have the right equipment for
a knight yet). Delita will go into an offensive position and always attack,
so get some potions ready for him.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Algus is a Limberry cadet thatís trying to save Marquis Elmdor, who was
kidnapped by the Death Corps. Algus now joins you as a guest. Go to Igros to
talk to Dycedarg. He will tell Ramza that he did a good job in Gariland and
Mandalia. He will then assign you, Delita and Algus to guard the castle. You
will meet Zalbag Beoulve, Alma, and Teta outside. After a long reunion,
Zalbag will send you to Dorter to look for a spy that never came back spying
    on the Death Corps.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    BATTLE #4: Sweegy Woods
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
Enemies: Bomb x2, Goblin, Red Panther x2, Black Goblin
    Guests: Delita Hyral, Algus Sadalfas
    Difficulty: 2

This oneís harder than before. Make sure to have at least 2 knights and an
archer for this battle. Kill the bombs with your crossbows or Charge Attacks
(remember, if someone is blocking your target, and you shoot with a
crossbow, youíll hit the blocker instead). The bombs will use explode, which
could kill you (up to 40HP damage) and combining that with the goblinís
attack, that might kill or injure a character badly. The good thing is that
bombs will die after exploding automatically, but you still donít want a
taste of it. After killing the bombs go and kill the Black Goblins, then the
panthers, and finally the goblins. Make sure to have some antidotes for the
    pantherís poison!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #5: Dorter Slums
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
Enemies: Knight, Archer x3, Wizard x2
    Guests: Delita Hyral, Algus Sadalfas
    Difficulty: 4

This is the first real battle in the game. It can be quite difficult too.
Algus and Delita will climb the building next to you swiftly to take out the
lone archer up there (if they are knights, they wonít go too far). The most
troubling thing about this battle are the wizards that cast spells like
fire. They will usually cast it on a unit (it takes them awhile to charge
the spell up), so itís best to move that unit near an enemy (preferably the
wizard) and they will hurt the enemy too, note that it does about 25HP
damage, and the knight can kill you with his 40HP damage attack. Make sure
to have a few Phoenix Downs. 5 of these enemies will be a threat, the archer
on the ground doesnít have a bow equipped, therefore he can only attack and
do about 5HP, heís the sixth guy, no threat, really. Take out the 2 wizards
immediately like I told you, then go after the knight, he has a whopping
87HP and a high evade rate. Itís best to surround him with your knights and
Ramza and kill him. Then go after the archers, and finally the fist archer.

    Evil Haunter:
First, forget about the archer above you on the building next to you. Heís a
huge threat, but Delita and Algus will deal with him, so donít send anyone
up there. Hopefully, the wizards will start charging Fire up on your
stronger units when you can still move them. Move them next to the wizards
to kill the wizard too (since the wizards do Unit targeting only). Hopefully
youíll be able to kill the wizards with one hit from the damaging blade of
Ramzaís sword. Have the chemist stay in the back and throw potions at
wounded units and have your wizard cast spells.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch Algus beat the crap out of the poor knight. The knight will tell them
that Wiegraf went to Zeklaus Desert looking for Gustav. Gustav planned the
kidnap of the Marquis, but Algus is still rough on the knight so he kicks
more crap out of him. Go to Zeklaus Desert.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #6: Cellar of Sand Mouse
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
Enemies: Knight x3, Monk x2, Archer
    Guests: Delita Hyral, Algus Sadalfas
    Difficulty: 4

This battle is the hardest one so far, mainly because of the crappy terrain.
The entrance to the house will be blocked by a dead Algus (yes, he will die
quickly, standing in the entrance, and the knights will block the entrance),
so itís best to put your archers and wizards on the second team. There are
no wizards here, thankfully, but the monks will be a problem. They have high
luck, and will continually spin around doing about 30HP up to 4 people. Kill
them first and enter the second entrance. Make sure NO ONE DIES ON THAT
ENTRANCE or you wonít be able to get in, if you donít have archers, or
wizards, then itís nearly impossible to win because the enemy archer will be
shooting at you from the other side and you canít get in (especially if
Delita and Algus die at the entrance, they will never turn into crystals,
and the knights will block the way). If you have a good mover, youíll be
able to get through. There are 3 knights here, much alike the one knight
from the previous battle. So try to use ranged attacks on them and try not
to get too close to them. Move your second team to the first team to join up
with them and kill the Monks ASAP. Never make gaps in your party formations
when youíre close to Monks, or a Spin Fist will occur. Remember that, IMO,
Monk is the best class ability-wise. The archer, for some reason, can see
through the small holes in the ruin and has high accuracy on your units
outside of the ruin. Donít rush him though, when you get the monks go for
him and the knights since the knights will exit through the left entrance
chasing down your guys, then getting weaker and running away. If you have a
wizard, and a Level 2 magic spell hopefully, youíll weaken the knights to
wussy state. After beating this battle, youíll be halfway through Chapter 1!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wiegraf will kill Gustav and agree to have you let him go in exchange for
the Marquis. After this, return to Igros Castle (stock up on Iron Swords).
There, Dyvedarg scolds Ramza for going to Zeklaus Desert, but Delita says it
was his idea. Larg comes in to tell them itís all okay. After they leave,
Larg is pissed at the fact that Gustav is dead. He was part of the plot to
    kidnap the Marquis.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #7: Thieves Fort
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Miluda
Enemies: Miluda Folles (Knight), Priest x2, Thief x3
    Guests: Delita Hyral, Algus Sadalfas
    Difficulty: 3

The battleís objective seems simple: Defeat Miluda. Itís not so simple.
Miluda has a whopping 130HP and is heavily guarded by thieves. The thieves
will try to steal from you, so kill them off first with ranged attacks. If
you try to hurt Miluda at the beginning of the battle, the priests will heal
her. I lost two of my best guys here (they fought for their life), but I
beat it. When Miluda starts going toward you, and the priests are down, go
right after her with your strongest knights and use your wizard and archer
wisely. Since sheís a knight, sheíll have a high evade rate. Use the dead
enemy unitsí crystals, as they will help you. Make sure to not have Miluda
    get them.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Teta will be kidnapped by Golagros as youíre fighting and you let Miluda
retreat. Return to Igros and watch the extremely funny Ramza/Delita/Algus
cutscene. You may not think itís funny, but címon, itís just a game. I
laughed so damn hard the third time I played through at the cutscene. It
shows Delita being mad as hell for Tetaís kidnapping, but Algus comes out
and insults Delita and his sister, and Delita releases his anger on Algus.
Algus insults Ramza and Delita again and then leaves. Hope for more later...
When going to Lenalia, donít worry about a random battle in Mandalia Plains,
a cutscene will take place as you pass the plains.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #8: Lenalia Plateau
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Miluda
Enemies: Miluda Folles (Knight), Wizard x2, Knight x2, Time Mage
    Guests: Delita Hyral
    Difficulty: 5

This battle is the hardest in Chapter 1. Miluda has 2 knights, 2 wizards,
and the most annoying new unit, the Time Mage. They are a pain, always
casting Slow on your party and casting Haste on them and Miluda. Delita will
go kill himself, while your archers should focus on the time mage. If you
happen to kill it, the wizards will start casting STRONG spells on you. Take
your best knights and go right after Miluda, MAKE SURE TO DO THIS AFTER
KILLING THE TIME MAGE. Also, make sure that those knights have the best
equipment available, because Miluda will hit 60+ HP! Kill the wizards with
your bows (I think thereís supposed to be a good 2-handed bow available
now), and if your knights fail to kill Miluda, use archers. The 2 knights
donít have a high MOVE rating, so itíll be a breeze to kill them with your
wizard. If they manage to get close to you, move Ramza or someone else there
and try killing them, or revive Delita (although heíll go into a frenzy).
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Although the normal ďgoing into battle triggerĒ does not take place in
Fovoham Plains, you still go into a battle, just a cutscene before it.
Wiegraf tells Golagros to retreat to Ft. Zeakden, but Golagros doesnít want
to, but he does it anyway.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #9: Windmill Shed
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Wiegraf
Enemies: Wiegraf Folles (White Knight), Monk x2, Knight, Chocobo
    Guests: Delita Hyral
    Difficulty: 3

Now itís time to fight the bad-ass of Chapter 1. The battle isnít so hard,
as itíll take 2 turns for Wiegraf to get to you. Delita will kill the monk,
but probably be killed by Wiegrafís powerful Crush Punch (it can do about
75HP of damage, or automatic death), the chocobo and the monk on the bottom
also wonít be a threat, as itíll take a while for them to work their way
down to you. And best of all, Boco the chocoboís attacks wonít hurt you a
lot. I suggest you pay more attention to Wiegraf than the enemies. All you
have to do is get Wiegrafís HP to less than 40, and heíll retreat, and
youíll beat the battle. Donít bunch up your characters, as Wiegraf has
Stasis Sword, which can hurt them if theyíre bunched. Focus everything on
Wiegraf and only Wiegraf until he dies. It seems Bolt magic works well on
him. My Bolt 2 took about 120HP away from him =).

    Evil Haunter:
Wiegraf is the true vagina. Unfortunately, his allies are as weak as your
grandmother. Boco and the monk will move toward you, and your wizard will
easily dispose of them with Bolt attacks. The other monk and knight should
be avoided, simply because Wiegraf is your target, and itís a waste of time
trying to kill the knight and the monk. So go for Wiegraf. Bolt attacks work
    good on him.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

At Zeakden, Zalbag orders Algus to kill Teta and he does so, having Golagros
lock himself up in the fort.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #10: Fort Zeakden
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Algus
Enemies: Algus Sadalfas (Knight), Knight x3, Wizard x2
    Guests: Delita Hyral
    Difficulty: 4

Wiegrafís knight uses Teta as a shield against Algus. But Algus kills
Delitaís sister with his new crossbow, and shoots Golagros. The knight will
attempt to crawl into the fort and blow up the whole place, and does. At
this point, youíll fight Algus. He has the Auto Potion ability which
sometimes heals 30HP to him automatically when you attack him. Delita will
go right after Algus, and you should do that too. He has about 135HP, and a
good way to kill him is use your wizardís fire attack. His forces, 5 knights
and 2 wizards, are a pain, so go after Algus and kill him quickly. The more
you wait, the more people will die, as 3 of his knights will go right after
a lone unit of yours and kill him. The 2 wizards behind him will cast
annoying spells. Algus himself will shoot you with his crossbow doing about
35HP. Your second team should include the weaker units since the barrier and
the fort surround them. Move them up and kill the 2 knights there, then try
to quickly move them to Algus. Overall, this is a tough battle, but if you
just go right after Algus, youíll kill him.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

After the battle, Delita stays in the fort as it blows up and Ramza runs.
Now, letís fast forward back to where the first battle occurred.

    =======================================================================
CHAPTER 3 Ė THE MANIPULATOR AND THE SUBSERVENIENT
    =======================================================================

List of battles, from hardest to easiest:
    -Golgorand Execution Site
    -Lionel Gate
    -Inside Lionel Castle
    -Bariaus Hill
    -Zaland Fort City
    -Goug Machine City
    -Bariaus Valley
    -Dorter Trade City
    -Zigolis Swamp
    -Zirekile Falls
    -Araguay Woods

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #11: Dorter Trade City
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
    Enemies: Thief x2, Archer x2, Wizard x2
    Guests: Agrias Oaks, Gaff Gafgarion
    Difficulty: 3

You MIGHT lose some people here, but reset if you do. The wizards in the
back will be a pain, so try to move out of the way (they are too far away
from your archers and wizards). Gafgarion and Agrias will go to the front
straight off, eliminating everyone in their way. Kill the archers and the
thief too. I donít have much to say about this battle since it was pretty
easy (itís nearly impossible to have Gafgarion or Agrias die). I left most
of my units in the back where they start and had my ranged units go after
the enemy. The enemy AI here sucks, as they will constantly try to attack
you, with no running or anything. You can watch the show: Agrias and
Gafgarion vs. a bunch of hoodlums!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

After he battle youíll need to head to Bethla Garrison, following Vormav.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #12: Araguay Woods
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat all enemies or Save Boco, the Chocobo
    Enemies: Goblin x5, Black Goblin
    Guests: Agrias Oaks, Gaff Gafgarion
Difficulty: 1 or 2 (if you decide to save Chocobo)

If you do not choose ďI donít have time for thisĒ, then your goal is to not
let Boco die. Wiegraf abandoned it here! Itís easy both ways, and if you
choose to Save Boco, your brave points will go up. The AI, again, is
horrible. The Black Goblin will go after Boco in the top right corner and
attack him while Boco uses Choco Cure on himself, then he will attack.
Agrias and Gafgarion will move left and attack the goblins there. Itís a
very easy battle, just like one of the regulars. You will get Boco after
this, it will lay eggs, and sometime youíll get a Red Chocobo (they are SO
good, I got one in the middle of Chapter 2 and used it for the rest of the
    game in my battle team).
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you chose ďSave ChocoboĒ your Brave rises.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #13: Zirekile Falls
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Save Princess Ovelia
Enemies: Knight x5, Gaff Gafgarion (Dark Knight)
    Guests: Agrias Oaks, Delita Hyral
    Difficulty: 2

NOTE - Before going here un-equip ALL of Gafgarionís stuff and equip it on
your other units. It is a little trick that is good cause it will boosts
your HP and MP. Why did you need to do this? Oh, youíll see. Read below...

There are new guest units Ovelia and Delita here. Gafgarion will betray you
and cast his old spells on you absorbing your HP UNLESS YOU UNEQUIPPED ALL
HIS WEAPONS AND ARMOR. That way, heíll only have about 80HP and doing only
about 15HP with his punches. He canít cast anything without his weapon! Move
you archers and wizard up front and in 2 turns youíll be able to cast spells
and shoot the knights moving toward you. Ovelia will protect herself, thus
casting a super spell that will make her have Mbarrier, Barrier, Regen,
Haste, and Angel. Then sheíll move away. The battle is soooooo easy with
Delita since he does a lot of damage to the knights on the right side of the
falls. Remember, take care of Gafgarion first, when his HP goes below ľ of
    his HP, heíll retreat.

    Evil Haunter:
Watch out for the knightís Break attacks. They can break any of the equipped
items you got from unequipping Gaffy boy, so be careful!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

After this youíll talk to Delita, standing on the bridge. Geez, it could
break and theyíd fall, and thereíd be no hero! How stupid can they get? Your
Bethla route will change to Lionel after Delita tells you to go there. Too
bad you have to wait for Chapter 4 to go to the big-ass castle.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #14: Zaland Fort City
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Save Mustadio or Defeat all Enemies
    Enemies: Knight x2, Wizard x2, Archer x2
    Guests: Agrias Oaks, Mustadio Bunanza
    Difficulty: 5

Since you only have one guest, Agrias, itís time they added a new one. In
this battle, you need to protect a new guest, Mustadio, who will definitely
get himself in trouble. Why did Squaresoft come up with such crappy Guest
AI? Mustadio will always be vulnerable to the knights below him. The worst
thing about this battle is the wall in the middle, and ONE small entrance!
Remember Ratís Cellar? Donít let people die in that entrance, especially
Agrias! Make sure to have a chemist or priest or some sort of healer for
this battle, and while some of the knights will be coming on your side, you
can sneak in the city and rid the wizards and archers hanging around there
while Agrias and Mustadio will be taking care of the knights on the outside.
This is one of those TOUGH battles in the game; it took me 5 tries (cause
they kept on killing Mustadio). Donít relax, because the next battle is
harder... I just ruined your good mood. Go me.

    Evil Haunter:
I suggest you train up some monks for this battle. Chakra is a great skill,
and so is Wave Fist. Also, Counter and Hamedo work well.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mustadio will become a guest now. Bart Company is chasing him for something
that he wonít tell you about yet. His gun rules, and donít un-equip it yet.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #15: Bariaus Hill
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
    Enemies: Knight x2, Archer x2, Summoner x2
    Guests: Agrias Oaks, Mustadio Bunanza
    Difficulty: 6

This battle is very hard even though you have no one to protect. The two
Summoners at the corners of the bottoms will be a real pain, although they
wonít do anything for the first turn. They cast spells such as Shiva (60HP
damage), Moogle (heals about 40HP), and Ramuh (90HP damage). They donít have
so much HP, and Mustadio can take care of the one on the left (although he
will try to paralyze her with his Arm Aim). Send a character down the right
hill and get rid of that Summoner, or go with Mustadio, staying away from
him since the spells have wide effect range. If you have a wizard or archer,
try to kill of the summoners with them. The knights have strong attacks, and
even Agrias can die here. Make sure to have a strong healer handy. And have
a few knights. Another annoying thing are the archers here, which will
usually use Charge and pierce you with their arrows. So leave off you
    chemist in healing here.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

In Igros, Dycey is talking to Gafgarion. Looks like Wiegraf was right... Go
to Lionel (no battle there) and meet up with Cardinal Draclau. Mustadio
tells him to help him out but Draclau knows what Bart is chasing him for. He
shows the Zodiac Stone Scorpio to you and tells Mustadio that Mustadio is
hiding the stone Taurus in Goug Ė what Bart Company and their leader Rudvich
is after. Draclau then sends an army to Goug where Mustadioís father is
being held captive. Youíll follow and Agrias and Ovelia stay in Lionel.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #16: Zigolis Swamp
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
Enemies: Ghoul x2, Uribo, Skeleton x2, Morbol or Flotiball x1
    Guests: Mustadio Bunanza
    Difficulty: 2

This battle focuses more on monsters, such as the ghouls. If you step into
the swamp, at the end of the turn, youíll be poisoned. Use ranged units and
stay in the beginning till all the ghouls are killed. The ghouls will
teleport to you in attack you (they can move almost anywhere). Note that you
can kill them with a Phoenix Down, but in a few turns they will be revived.
After taking care of all the undead ghosts, (Mustadio will use Seal Evil),
take care of the remaining enemies which are easy to defeat. The con about
this battle is the annoying poison.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

When you get to Goug, youíll find that no battle has occurred. Just try to
leave and Bart Rudvichís meníll attack you and a stripped Mustadio will be
knocked out (and I donít mean stripped like Ďthatí, you gay pervert).

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #17: Goug Machine City Slums
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
    Enemies: Summoner x2, Thief x2, Archer x2
    Guests: Mustadio Bunanza
    Difficulty: 4

Mustadio will die quickly in this battle (50HP, no equipment) and itís best
not to waste a Phoenix Down to revive him. Get a chemist here and have
him/her stay in the back, throwing healing items to anyone who gets injured.
Take care of the 2 summoners QUICKLY before they cast any spells to heal.
The archers here are a big threat, so kill them quickly. Use another party
to get rid of the thieves before they steal or confuse you. Be sure to have
    an archer for this battle!

    Evil Haunter:
Why the hell does everyone think this oneís hard?
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mustadio joins your party as an active non-guest character. Whoo! Youíll
find out that the stone Musty gave to Bart was a fake and that you have the
real one, Taurus. Draclau commanded Rudvich to get Taurus from Mustadio
because he is power mad with the stone. Looks like he was behind all this,
and Agrias and Ovelia are in danger. Buy some guns for your chemists in
Goug. They have a 100% hit rate chance all the time, unless huge terrain
obstacles block your way. At Warjilis, youíll meet Delita, who has
communication available with Draclau, but he is also on your side. Try to
leave Warjilis and youíll see a cutscene where Draclau sends Gafgarion to
take care of you and kills Rudvich for failing to get the stone.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #18: Bariaus Valley
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Save Agrias
    Enemies: Knight x2, Wizard x2, Archer x2
    Guests: Agrias Oaks
    Difficulty: 3

The knights here have VERY HIGH evade, so itís best to bring some wizards
here. Agrias wonít die. Trust me. She will cast Steady and Stasis Swords on
the enemies, which does enough damage. On your 2nd team, you should have
Mustadio and a chemist equipped with a Romanda Gun. Use the chemistís range
to shoot the wizard and archer on that side. And Mustadio should do that
too. After killing the right enemy team, have Mustadio and the chemist
travel to the left and help Ramzaís party. Make sure to have an accessible
priest. The cure spells are good!

Note: Your second squad should always have healing items/spells. The archer
and the wizard can both team up to take out both of the units on that squad,
so I suggest you heal when your HP goes below 70.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Leave and Agrias joins your party now!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #19: Golgorand Execution Site
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat ALL enemies
Enemies: Gaff Gafgarion (Dark Knight) Knight x3, Archer x2, Time Mage x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 9

Remember Battle #19, because it will be the worst battle in the whole game.
Level up to level 30 before accessing it. The time mages are SO annoying, as
they have Stop, which CAN kill you by not making you move and letting the
knights get to you easily. Gafgarionís equipment is new, and heíll dish out
high damage and absorb it to him with his Night Sword. The battle is nearly
impossible, this I how I had my units:

Ramza (Knight) LV30- Move him to the knights and kill them.
Agrias (Holy Knight) LV31- She is in the 2nd Squad. Use her skills to get
rid of the Time Mages above.
Mustadio (Engineer) LV29- In the first squad, he should shoot the enemies.
Lavian (Knight) LV31- In the second squad, move her to the archers and
    Gafgarion.
Norris (Chemist) LV30- Use him to shoot with guns and heal units.

Still, the battle is EXTREMELY tough that requires a lot of level-upping
before. The knights can do over 100HP damage. And the annoying archers do
over 50HP. Make sure to have the best armor and weapon, and kill Gafgarion
second or third, that will make him retreat. Aims barely works on him, but
if they do, thatís good. Bunch up your characters around him and attack him.
I beat this damn battle with Ramza having 14HP left and one knight. If you
lose a unit here, RESET. Oh yeah, and be patient. Your 2nd squad is the goal
in killing the 2 time mages up top.

    Evil Haunter:
Put a knight and Agrias on your second squad while Ramza, Mustadio, and a
Wizard go on your first squad. These were my units. Try to have something
like this, or the units described in the old strategy above:

    Ramza (Squire)
    Guts
Punch Arts (need Chakra, Wave Fist, and Revive)
    Counter or Hamedo
    Martial Arts
    Move +1

    Mustadio (Engineer)
    Engineer
Item (have at least Potion and Phoenix Down) OR Battle Skill
    Any
    Any
    Move +1 or Jump +1

    Shields (Wizard)
Black Magic (have at least Bolt, Bolt2, and Bolt3. They work well on
Gafgarion, and my Bolt3 killed him in one hit!)
Item (with Hi-Potions and Phoenix Downs)
    Abandon or Blade Grasp
    Short Charge
    Move +1 or Teleport

    Robbins (Knight)
    Battle Skill (with Weapon Break)
Punch Arts (with Chakra, Wave Fist, and Revive)
    Blade Grasp
Attack Up or Weapon Guard or Defense Up
Move +2 or Move +3 or best: Ignore Height

    Agrias (Holy Knight)
    Holy Sword
    Item
    Any
    Defend
    Any

    ..And follow the upper strategy.

    ****TIP****
Put Battle Skill on Mustadio as secondary ability and Engineer or Chemist as
first, with a Romanda Gun equipped. Learn Weapon Break and/or Armor Break,
and fire 100% accuracy bullets that can destroy the enemyís equipment!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

A scene will follow where a mysterious knight named Vormav tells Ovelia that
she is not the real Princess and is a substitute for the prince Orinas. Go
to Lionel. You can go past it if you feel like gaining levels in places
    besides the dreaded Bariaus Valley.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #20: At the Gate of Lionel Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all enemies
Enemies: Gaff Gafgarion (Dark Knight), Knight x3, Summoner, Archer x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 8

This battle is tough because itís very a small map. Ramza and Gafgarion will
duel it inside the gate, while all your characters will be in the scrunched
up area on the outside. Bring a Summoner here, and cast GOLEM quickly. Ramza
should quickly move to the switch near the gate and the gate will
automatically open. Agrias and another knight should take out the remaining
knights, but quickly get rid of the enemy Summoner, or heíll cast some
powerful spells on you. The archers have Steal Heart and Steal Weapon/Armor
so take note of that. Mustadio should move toward the gate and shoot
Gafgarion with Arm Aim, so he wouldnít use Night Sword to absorb your HPs.
Overall, the battle DOES require some level upping, but itís not as hard as
Golgorand Execution Site. Also, get Mustadio or any other gunners to go
through the gate and up the hill to the ramparts. From here shoot down the
    enemies easily!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #21: Inside Lionel Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Queklain
    Enemies: Queklain (Impure King)
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 5

The battle is one of the hardest yet, even though you outnumber the enemy.
Queklain casts Nightmare, which either puts your characters to sleep or
Death Sentence. This, for some reason, makes the battle very fast paced.
Queklain is by himself, but has the high ground, attack, magic, and speed
advantages. Be sure to spread out your characters before the battle or
youíll suffer from his spell. And if anyone turns into a crystal in this,
just reset, because thereís chances that will happen. Mustadio should move
away and shoot. Arm or Leg Aims never worked here, nor Seal Evil. Have a
Summoner cast spells like Titan or Golem. If you donít have a Summoner,
which you probably donít, get a Monk with Earth Slash/Wave Fist. Also, bring
an archer or Ninja with two swords if you manage to get a Ninja with Two
Swords (too early, I presume?). If you have one of those, youíll be able to
kill Queklain in a few shots. Queklain has a hefty 476HP, but canít attack
(just Nightmare), in fact, I think he is able to attack, but he never
    attacked me.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

A cutscene will follow where Delita goes to Zeltennia to talk to Goltana.
Delita has saved Ovelia from being attacked by the Hokuten, and Gelwan, one
of Goltanaís officers, whom Delita kills in the scene, held the plan. It
appears that the Hokuten were behind the kidnapping, but have Queen Ruvelia
and Prince Orinas on their side. The Nanten knights march into war against
the Hokuten knights. The Nanten knights are led by Ovelia and the Hokuten is
led by little widdle Orinas... but they probably arenít really ďleadingĒ the
    army.

    CHAPTER 3 Ė THE VALIANT
    =======================================================================
List from Hardest Battles to Easiest-

A discussion will take place in Bethla Garrison about the Zeltennia/Limberry
war and drought. Blansh will argue with Orlandu and Goltana sides with him
because he doesnít want peace with the Hokuten. Meanwhile, Ramza sets off to
    Lesalia to speak with Zalbag.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #22: Goland Coal City
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Save Olan
Enemies: Mediator, Thief x3, Chemist x2
    Guests: Olan Durai
    Difficulty: 3

Olan does Galaxy Stop, which does negative statuses to enemies like Donít
Move, Donít Act, and Stop. It does this to every entire enemy; itís also
cool looking, but misses a lot to the enemies. Bring a Chemist and help out
Olan. Use your other guys to take out the thieves, or they will use Steal
Heart on your characters, which makes the enemy AI control them. After
taking care of them take out the remaining enemies, and including the
Mediator (which is easy). Make sure not to let Olan die, or you will lose.
Try knocking the Mediator off the building using Counter Tackle. Itís so
    freakiní funny.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Olan doesnít give you his identity as of yet, so heíll thank you and leaves
you. At Lesalia, Ramza tells Zalbag that Dycedarg may be part of the plot of
the war, bult Zalbag has to disagree with that and bash Ramza. A knight
tells Zalbag that Orlandu broke through Doguola and he leaves. Buy stuff at
Lesalia then try to leave. Youíll meet Alma and Ramza will tell her that
Delita and Dycedarg as probably dangerous. Zalmo, a Heresy Examiner, shows
up and attacks Ramza and Alma.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #23: Lesalia Back Exit
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Zalmo
Enemies: Zalmo Lusnada (Holy Priest), Knight x3, Monk x2
    Guests: Alma Beoulve
    Difficulty: 4

Alma will use that same spell that Ovelia used in Zirekile Falls on Ramza.
Then she will cast it on herself and run. Your best bet is to bring only
ranged units here and have them take out the annoying High Evade knights
before they get close. The monks arenít a problem, and Zalmo will be getting
close to you (he can heal, and will for every move he does). After he moves
a little closer, get your knights out quickly and get to him, then kill him.
Itís not a tough task (He has about 207HP), so get moving! This will be your
last easy battle in Chapter 3. I thought that this wouldíve been a much
better and more fun battle if it were a ĎDefeat All Enemiesí one instead.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ramza has been branded a heretic and wonders about the zodiac stones. Alma
knows where one is hidden and Ramza asks her but she says to take her with
him. Itís in Orbonne. Now head to Orbonne and be sure to un-equip all of
Almaís stuff before you enter it (including the Barrette accessory).

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #24: Underground Book Storage Second Floor
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Lancer x3, Chemist, Time Mage x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 6

    *NOTE*
Before going here, Un-equip all of Almaís stuff like the Barrette and give
it to Agrias. Itíll boost her statuses.

The battle is tough. There are Lancers here, and they will jump on you. Kind
of a self-explanatory sentence there, huh? If you move out of the way before
they land (if you have a turn after they go up), then they will miss. The
thing you should be careful of most is the Chemist, cause they will heal the
Lancers. The Lancerís jab from behind will cause upwards 120HP, so you
should have a good defense. Bring a ranged unit like a Ninja to throw stuff
at the chemist, and let your knights whack the life out of the lancers. Then
youíll be able to take the remaining forces out. The Time Mages arenít too
bright, either. If you have a Black Mage with Bolt 4, then cast it on the
middle level where the Lancers and Chemist bunch themselves up. Reset if the
    Time Mages have Summoner spells.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #25: Underground Book Storage Third Floor
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Izlude
Enemies: Izlude Tingel (Knight Blade), Knight x2, Summoner, Archer x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 5

There is a trick to beating this battle. Go after Izlude quickly and hope to
end the level before all the knights and archers get to you. Izlude is a
Lancer, so he can jump on you, from afar too. ALL your units should quickly
go after him. Donít pay attention on killing the knights, cause they have
high evade and thatíll just make it worse. Donít even get close to the lone
Summoner that looks like he wants to die, he turns out to be quite powerful
by himself ;). Bring a gunner like Mustadio here to take care of Izlude.
Izlude himself will concentrate on the offensive side, and heíll get close
to you. Treat him like you would a normal Lancer. He has about 320HP.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #26: Underground Book Storage First Floor
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Wiegraf
Enemies: Wiegraf Folles (White Knight), Knight x2, Wizard, Archer x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 4

This guy is still alive? Damn... mustíve been bored doing jack in Chapter 2.
Oh yeah, I forgot, he went to the St. Murond Temple. No wonder he dumped
Boco over at Araguay. Thatís a good thing, since if he were a Black Chocobo
then you wouldnít have him. Whoa, Iím getting way too carried away here with
emotional Man and Chocobo stories. ANYWAYS, AHEM, the key to beating him is
to hide your Summoners in the corners and wait for him to come, and then
cast spells on him while heíll try to take out one or two of your people
with his Lightning Stab. After casting his spell, go after him with your
best knights and archers and kill him. Donít kill anyone else, as itíll just
waste time. He has about 400HP, so beware. Heíll retreat when heís in
    Critical state.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

After receving the Germonik Scriptures, Ramza will see Alma being kidnapped
by Izlude. Wiegraf, wounded from the last battle, mutters his last words as
the Zodiac Stone Aries flies out of his hands and speaks to him. Wiegraf
takes it and gets revived into the powerful Warlock Velius. He will then
teleport away. Leave and go to Dorter, where Ramza meets an Exotic Wizard
who wants him to go to Riovanes Castle with the Germonik Scriptures in
exchange for Alma. Try to leave Dorter and you will see a cutscene with
Delita talking to the ďfakeĒ Ovelia telling her heíll help her make Ivalice
a better place, or something like that. I forgot. Re-stock at Lesalia and go
    north to Grog Hill.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #27: Grog Hill
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Squire x2, Archer, Thief, Chemist x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 5

The battle looks easy, but itís not. The squires will definitely tear out
some damage, while the thieves can be a pain also. But the worst comes from
the chemists, who not only revive dead units, but shoot you with guns that
causes about 90HP damage. First and foremost, go after the thief near you
and kill her before she uses Steal Heart. Then climb the steps and defeat
the squires, which will take some work. If the chemists revive somebody,
kill him/her immediately before the other chemist uses an X-Potion on
him/her. Once you get rid of the squires and thief, have two or three units
stay and puppy guard the dead enemies in case they get revived, while your
other crew should go after the chemists hoping to kill them. Keep in mind
that the chemist CAN revive the other chemist, making the battle tougher. If
things go awry and the chemists revive too much units, then just reset.
After the battle, Olan will come and talk to you, whereas you will continue
    your journey to Riovanes Castle.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Meet Olan again with some Nantens. Heíll tell you that heís Orlanduís Son in
Law and will tell you about the scriptures and how the book can stop the
High Priest. Ramza canít give it to him yet, though, so Olan promises Ramza
to risk his life for him, and leaves. At Yardow, thereís a brother/sister
dispute with Rafa and Malak, and Malak, the Exotic Wizard you met in Dorter,
calls for some ninjas and summoners, starting the battle attacking Rafa.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #28: Yardow Fort City
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Save Rafa
Enemies: Malak Galthana (Hell Knight), Ninja x3, Summoner x2
    Guests: Rafa Galthana
    Difficulty: 7

This battle is harder than it looks. Rafa is an idiot and will cast her
spell once, then run. I found this battle easy by bringing two experienced
Red Chocobos and flying over to Malak, then attacking him. Two Choco Meteors
will make him retreat, so do that. The ninjas will start making their way
toward you, and they will take up to 170HP damage with their Shurikens. Kill
them quickly and then fly your chocobos over and greet the Summoners with
Choco Meteor before they cast anything bad. Use X-Potions in this battle by
bringing a Chemist and having him move around healing anyone whoís hurt.
Make sure your best Red Chocobo doesnít die, if he/she does, reset. Make
sure to bring your own Summoner. Otherwise, leave Rafa alone as she retreats
(sometimes she dies on the first turn) and move your units up to the wall.
Get someone with Ignore Height to jump over and immediately get the
summoner, but do this when thereís no ninja around. Having Malak around can
be a good thing, though. His Musk Rod does Innocent on you. With this, you
have 0 Faith and are completely invulnerable to the Summonersí spells for
the battle. Donít worry about dead units on top of the arch, Phoenix Downs
have unlimited height range so you can use it on them, but I think you can
do it only when you are standing on a wall, otherwise no. I donít know
though. Since I donít, donít try doing this or youíll be pissed (no pun
intended). Just let the Ninjas come to you and let your attacks out on them,
    use decoys too.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Rafa will tell you about Barinten of Riovanes and how he burned Rafa and
Malakís village. But Malak thinks Barinten saved them instead, but doesnít
know the truth. Rafa will join up as a guest for the rest of your trip to
Riovanes. Malak comes in the storage using a frog and tells both Rafa and
Ramza to hurry up to Riovanes.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #29: Yuguo Woods
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Ghoul, Gust, Revnant, Time Mage, Wizard x2
    Guests: Rafa Galthana
    Difficulty: 3

Another undead battle, but pretty easy. All you do is use Mustadioís Seal
Evil and there you go! Phoenix Downs work like an instant killing machine on
the units since theyíre all undead. The time mages are annoying, but the
wizards arenít. Keep in mind that they will be revived in 3 turns, instead
of dying, so be careful. Attack as normal. Note: Revnants are not undead, so
    kill them not using PDís.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Enter Riovanes and youíll see a cutscene with Vormav and Wiegraf meeting
Barinten inside Riovanes office. Barinten brags about the castle way too
much, donít you think? Izlude will enter and tell Vormav that he failed, and
watch the un-forgettable moment as Vormav smacks out Izlude. Then Vormav
attacks Barinten because he wonít tell them about the Germonik Scriptures.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #30: At the Gate of Riovanes Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Malak Galthana (Hell Knight), Knight x3, Archer x3
    Guests: Rafa Galthana
    Difficulty: 4

Thereís nothing really new here. Malak is here, but every other enemy is
someone youíve fought before many times. The archers can be a threat cause
they sit on the top and shoot you doing lots of damage. Place Agrias on the
2nd Squad along with a Wizard and have them slaughter the knights around
them. Note that there is a knight in the small waterway that you wonít be
able to see. He has feather boots and sometimes has Geomancy spells. On the
first squad you should have Ramza and a Knight. Also have a Chemist on the
second squad. Move Ramza and your knight and kill the gate guard, who is the
strongest knight here. Weaken Malak a little as Rafa is practically useless
here. When Malak retreats, Rafa will too. Now have Ramza and your knight
climb to the top and kill the archers. Then have your second squad get to
the top after beating the knights there.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Alma, still trapped in a cell in Riovanes, tries to escape, and a knight,
extremely wounded, comes in and tells Alma to escape because thereís a
monster in Riovanes Castle (Velius). She does so. Ramza gets in to meet
Wiegraf and dead Riovanes Knights, and both start a duel.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #31: Within Riovanes Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat Wiegraf, then defeat Velius
Enemies: Wiegraf Folles (White Knight), Velius (Warlock), Archaic Demon x3
    Guests: None
Difficulty: 1 or 8 (if you do it the normal way)

There are two ways to beat this battle, one way thatís very, very easy to
kill him but takes too long, and the other normal way which makes the battle
possibly the hardest in the game. You will start the battle with only Ramza
and Wiegraf on the top, in a one-on-one duel. Make sure to have Sprint Shoes
equipped on Ramza so heíll get the first turn. Run away to the corner and
cast Yell on yourself. Then, keep running away from Wiegraf and casting
Yell. When you reach 50 speed, you get about 6-7 turns before itís Wiegrafís
turn. Now cast Accumulate on yourself while running away from Wiegraf until
you get to 50. Then wait till you get your first out of 6 or 7 turns and
attack Wiegraf. A good idea is to have Auto Potion equipped just in case
Wiegraf casts Lightning Stab on you and you wonít have to waste a turn
healing with an X-Potion. Attack Wiegraf with 50 Yell and Accumulate and you
should do about 500HP. Wiegraf will transform into Velius and Ultima Demons
appear next to him. Your party also appears behind you. Now just attack
Velius twice and you will beat him (since you do over 600 damage to him due
to Accumulate) if you miss you still have 5 or 6 turns before itís his turn.
If you die this way, then I wonder how you got this far.

Thatís the very easy way. If you donít do that, then youíre bound to have
    lots of trouble.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Alma goes in the office where Barinten talked to Vormav and the Temple
Knights. Izlude, bloody and leaning against the wall, tells Alma that Ramza
was right about Lucavi and gives her the holy stone, then dies. Vormav comes
in after that and the holy stone starts responding. Instead of killing her,
Vormav takes her away. On the roof, Rafa is about to kill Barinten, whoís
armed with a gun, for what he did to her. Malak comes and tells Rafa to
stop, and blocks her from getting shot by Barinten. Malak gets shot instead,
and Barinten laughs. Behind Barinten, a couple of sluts appear, grab
Barinten (Donít stop reading. Iím not THAT perverted. Keep reading and
youíll know Iím not) and throw him off the roof. Elmdor appears, and heís
the leader of the Limberry assassins. You thought heíd pay Ramza back for
help in Chapter 1? Nope, heís revived into Lucavi, so heíll attack you with
    the assassin sluts.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #32: Roof of Riovanes Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Save Rafa (Defeat one enemy)
Enemies: Mesdoram Elmdor (Arc Knight), Celia (Assassin), Lede (Assassin)
    Guests: Rafa Galthana
    Difficulty: 8

If you thought Velius was easy, then you should see this. This battle is so
hard that it will take you a lot of tries to beat it. Rafa has only about
185 HP, and thatís a problem, because Elmdor can do over 100 HP damage with
his Muramasa to a big panel and his assassins Celia and Lede can cast
Ultima. Equip Sprint Shoes on Ramza so he gets the first move, and move him
over to Celia and attack. If you miss, flip your TV Screen off and reset.
Rafa will move closer and attack Lede. Elmdor will probably now use his
spell on Ramza and Rafa and the assassins might either kill Ramza or cast
Ultima. Their attacks are unavoidable too. Move a chemist up to the surface
and throw an X-Potion to Rafa to heal her, and then use your back force to
get behind the assassins. You probably wonít be able to reach them now
though, but use Agriasís Holy Explosion if you can. Keep Rafa above 100HP.
Urgh. I wish I could control Rafa, that way I could win. This battle took me
17 tries to beat (seriously). Itís 90% luck, and this battle will usually
take you more than one or two tries.

    IMPORTANT NOTE:
Iím not going to be bother reading the thing above, but your back units here
are really the units that are closer to Elmdor and Rafa, so put whatever
units you want to flank out the enemy in the front during the battle
    preparations.

    ALSO:
Let me just tell you that, unless youíre level 55+, there is no chance in
hell you can beat this battle without Sprint Shoes or anything that will
    increase your speed. Ta-ta!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Rafa will talk to the unconscious Malak, and the stone she has starts
responding. Ramza will think the stone is letting out the power to turn
Malak into Lucavi, but it isnít. It revives Malak instead. Ramza then goes
into the room with the dead Izlude to look for Alma, but she is nowhere to
    be found.

Ramza, Malak, and Rafa will talk about where to go next. Ramza knows of T.G
Cid AKA Orlandu, and wants to meet Delita in Zeltennia, so that will be your
next destination. Meanwhile in Zeltennia, Olan comes in to talk about
Orlandu about a big battle with the Nanten and Hokuten, which will occur in
Bethla Garrison. Orlandu shows Olan the Holy Stone that he has and tells him
that the Nanten will soon find out that he has it, and the real war will
    begin.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #33: Doguola Pass
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Knight, Lancer x2, Wizard x2, Archer
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 5

Thereís nothing new here but Nanten Knights. The Lancers are not hard to
kill but the wizards may pose a problem. Although Ramza has a new outfit, he
is still the same (Is that his underwear?) Move him to the top and try to
kill the wizard with Ramza (itís much easier now since your swords could
probably drop a wizardís health down 3/4s). Use Bolt 4 on the guys on the
bottom part and hope for them to die. Itís not that hard, but watch out for
Jumps. Actually, the Lancers are too dumb and you could probably move out of
the way since they donít know when their attack succeeds... one of the
Lancers kept throwing stones at me and not attacking me or jumping even if
    he couldíve.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #34: Bervenia Free City
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Meliadoul
Enemies: Meliadoul Tingel (Divine Knight), Ninja, Archer x2, Summoner x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 7

If you thought female warriors are nothing much, you should see this battle.
Everyone here is female and they will do LOTS of damage. Thankfully, you
only need to defeat Melia. The two Summoners may pose a problem, so Flare
them and spread out your units. Once you get to Meliadoul, gang up on her
and attack her. Getting her to Critical state makes her retreat, ending the
battle in victory. Arm Aim the Ninja because she is quick and can do quite
the damage. Meliadoul has abilities that will kill your equipment, such as
Icewolf Bite and Shellbust Stab, but you may also consider stealing Chantage
    from her.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #35: Finath River
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Any Class Chocobo x5 and 1 Uribo randomly, otherwise Chocobo
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 6

Chocobos are at their best here. Since they pop up random, I suggest you
reset if thereís way too much Black or Red Chocobos. Have Yellow and Black
Chocobos, with at most 1 Red and an Uribo. Uribos die quickly, and donít do
too much damage either, so donít worry about them. The Red Chocoboís Choco
Meteor never EVER misses, and does quite a lot of damage. The Black Chocobo
uses Choco Ball, which doesnít have too good of accuracy but does a lot of
damage. The Black Chocobos donít do too much damage though. The Yellow
Chocobos can use Choco Cure, which is much like another version of Chakra,
so be careful. The biggest threat in this battle is the river itself, as
there are many 2-depth panels where you cannot use the act command, so try
    to have Floating Boots equipped.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

In a church near Zeltennia, Delita comes in to talk to Ramza. He tells him
that his intentions in Zeltennia are to kill Goltana, and that during the
battle at Bethla Garrison, Larg and Goltana will both be killed, including
the leaders Ė Nantenís Orlandu and Hokutenís Dycedarg and Zalbag, by
someone. Outside, Zalmoís group surrounds the church to get him. Delita will
be a guest in this battle.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #36: Church Outside of Town
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Zalmo
Enemies: Zalmo Lusnada (Holy Priest), Knight x3, Oracle x2
    Guests: Delita Hyral
    Difficulty: 2

Delita is like Agrias except with stronger attack power. Heíll act himself
and just move to the back and kill the knights. Now, get Ignore
Height for this and Jump ALL THE WAY up to the top and attack Zalmo. Heíll
try to Cure 3 himself, but if you have a Wizard down there, Flare him or do
a weaker spell. You can probably beat this without even moving to the back,
since you can target Zalmo from down there, just donít let the Oracles get
    to you.

Zalmo: Hahahaha!!! You canít get me! Iím all the way up here!
Lancer: Oh yeah? Ignore Height! *Jumps up*
    Zalmo: ...Damn.

Why doesnít everyone think this battle is so easy, anyway?
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Delita will call Balmafula. She is an assassin sent by the high priest to
help (or ďspyĒ) on Delita. Ramza will now go to Bethla Garrison through Bed
Desert instead of Zirekile Falls to rescue Orlandu and try to stop the
battle. The catch Ė Delita, Olan, Goltana, Larg, Zalbag, and Dycedarg are
also going to Bethla. That might be a BIG battle, I tell you. Now youíll
need to head to Bed Desert, south of Bervenia. Make sure to stock up on
equipment in Zeltennia too. Also, if you feel like doing propositions
without going on green spaces, talk to the barkeep and read the ďCursed
Island, NelveskaĒ rumor. This will open up a route north to Nelveska Temple.
This is unimportant for now, but later when youíre finishing up the Cloud
Subquest youíll go here, but right now thereís nothing to see there, so do
your propositions and go back and forth Zeltennia and Nelveska.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #37: Bed Desert
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Balk
Enemies: Balk Fenzol (Engineer), Knight x2, Archer x2, Wizard
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 6

The enemies have the high ground, but there isnít much height involved in
this map, so donít worry about Jump differences and the like. Balk will
poison all of your party at the beginning, but I suggest on concentrating on
defeating him rather than healing. The archers will mount themselves on the
platforms and fire at you, and the Wizard will get close and Bolt 3 you.
Send someone like Mustadio to the middle right platform and use Arm Aim on
the Wizard. The knights arenít a big problem; so donít worry about them
either. Balk will do probably the most damage. His Blaze Gun will cast Ice 3
on the party member it fires on. I suggest to just concentrating most of
your attacks on him instead of trying to defeat everyone else, since thatís
what the main objective is. Move your units towards the building entrance
and attack him, donít worry too much about dead units either.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Balk was a Temple Knight who spread Mosfungus on the Hokuten Camp.
Meanwhile, at Bethla, Orlandu will be arrested for being involved with the
Zodiac Stones by Goltana. It appears that that annoying High Priest informed
Goltana that Orlandu is hiding a Zodiac Stone, so Orlandu was arrested and
sent to the Granary to be executed the next day. Delita is now serving as
the Knight Captain instead of Orlandu, because Delita wants to kill Goltana
after the battle. You now have a choice of going to either the South or
    North Walls of Bethla Garrison.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #38A: South Wall
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Ninja, Thief, Knight x3, Archer x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 4

Send a couple of good Jumping units on the ramparts on the left and right to
take care of thief, ninja, and archers. The archers can be a pain in the
ass, especially the one on the right rampart. Since there are no magic
casters, send 2 or 3 units to deal with the knights as the other units beat
up the mounted units. If the Ninja makes his way to the bottom, concentrate
all your attacks on him because he can do some serious damage with his Two
Swords ability. The thief has high evade but you shouldnít worry about him
and kill him later. The archers need to be taken care of quickly before they
defeat your forces on the bottom, so go after them after defeating the
Ninja. The knights are weaklings, so take care of them last, after the
    thief.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #38B: North Wall
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Summoner, Lancer x2, Monk, Archer x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 5

This battle is harder than its correspondent, so I suggest you avoid this
one and take South Wall. This is mainly because of the Summoner and Lancers.
The Monk is right next to you, so you can take him out easily by sending 2
units there (he might have Chakra, so be ready!). Kill the Summoner from
afar and then go for the Lancers. If you have Time Magic, haste yourself so
most of the Jumps will go out of your Speed and miss. Blade Grasp also works
well. The archers will position themselves on the top rampart and shoot you
down, but as long as you have nice spells like Flare you can cast it on them
all the way from the bottom, or you can just use Ignore Height to get up
    there.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

At the Hokuten Camp, the knights have all been deceased due to the Mosfungus
poison. Zalbag enters the scene to find the last knight dying, and Dycedarg
comes in, seemingly wounded from the poison. They find Larg on the rampart,
but Dycedarg stabs him with a dagger and kills him. He then tells Zalbag
that someone was sent to kill Larg and to put the dagger into a Nantenís
    hands.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #39: At Bethla Garrisonís Sluice
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Open the Water Gate
    Enemies: Knight x4, Wizard x2, Archer x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 7

This battle is LONG. Itís also pretty fun, and the objective can be a little
confusing. Still, itís extremely tricky to open it without killing all the
enemies, so youíll need to defeat them. Put your more offensive team on the
First Squad, because youíll face 2 knights and a hasty wizard on that side.
On the other side, youíll need to scale the dam up to the wizard who will
tear out your skins with Bolt 3. I suggest you put one offensive and one
defensive character on that side because the wizard is one annoying f**k.
The two archers arenít too powerful, but because the enemy has the high
ground, theyíll be pretty annoying and add extra damage after the
treacherous Bolt attacks the wizards do. Finally, the two knights standing
on the Watergate will do nothing but defend. Donít worry about them, but
donít go near them either when attacking other enemies. They can make a move
sometimes, but itís usually when youíve taken care of the other enemies.
Donít bunch up your characters, and have Maintenance equipped on the more
offensive ones. After killing everyone, kill the two knights guarding the
switches and wait till they turn into a crystal. At this point, if youíve
defeated everyone, you can do ANYTHING you want without worries. There will
be no enemies on the battlefield and the only thing left to do is to pull
the switches. However, I suggest you strut around and use spells like Yell,
Cheer Up, and others on characters and make everyone gain a couple of
levels. After youíre done, move Ramza to the first switch and then the
second one. The Watergate will open and blow out anyone standing at the
bottom. Donít worry about that, though.

    NOTE:
I have not figured out how to step into the four-depth panels on the
northern side of this map without using Floating Shoes or a Gameshark. If
you know how, please tell me!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ramza and Olan come in the granary to save Orlandu, who seems to be okay.
You can now have Orlandu join your party as a non-guest member. He is easily
the most powerful character in the game, and can ruin the whole game for you
by making it extremely easy. Iíve never declined his join offer, so I donít
know what happens. Meanwhile, Goltana orders Delita to deploy all Nanten
units beside the sluice, but Delita reveals his plan and murders Goltana.
Then, Balmafula and a ďfakeĒ Orlandu come in. Delita kills the ďfakeĒ
Orlandu look-alike to make it look like Orlandu killed Goltana and died in
the process, then leaves. Ramza now heads to Limberry in search of Alma.
There is no battle at Zarghidas. You meet up with Aeris of FFVII fame. Buy a
flower from her and go on.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #40: Germinas Peak
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Ninja, Thief x2, Archer x3
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 7

Using Orlandu is a cheap way to win this battle, and practically any other
battle after this one. I suggest you continue playing the game the ďnormalĒ
way, without using the powerhouse. This battle can be quite difficult. The
Ninja is the main target here, he will immediately move down to your first
squad and either attack or throw a Partisan/Yagyu Darkness at your party
members. Your second squad should join your first one by going behind the
smaller mountain to avoid the line of arrows being fired by the archers. The
Thieves arenít much, as long as you donít have female units in your party.
If you do, they will use Steal Heart. Also, if you have any rare equipment
on, un-equip it. The thieves can steal it. I also suggest you bring someone
with Ignore Height into this battle and have them jump up on the peak and
kill the archer that takes control of it after the Ninja leaves. Mostly,
this battle is about taking control of the side you start on and the side
the enemy starts on, so donít send a lone unit into enemy range, and kill
    everyone nearest to you first.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #41: Poeskas Lake
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Summoner, Archer x2, Revnant x2, Oracle
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 3

No matter who you have in your party, as long as they have Phoenix Down
learned, this battle is a piece of cake (no pun intended). First, send a
unit right next to the lake bridge where the Summoner is standing and use a
Phoenix Down on her. Since Phoenix Downs have unlimited height range, you
can use it on her though youíre about 8 height levels below. After killing
her, use Phoenix Downs on the Revnants (note that even though theyíre not
supposed to be undead, Phoenix Downs work fine on them). Finally, go up to
the land area and kill the Archers and Oracles with the
    dead-little-fish-that-does-a-whopping-amount-of-damage-to-undead-Phoenix-Down.
The archers have Ultimus Bows, so bring a thief here to try and steal it.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Dycedarg is talking to Temple Knight Rofel in the Igros Castle
office. Rofel gives him information on Mosfungus poison and how it can
affect others once it got out of Balbanesís poisoned body. Dycedarg denies
that he killed Balbanes, but Rofel knows. He gives Dycedarh the Holy Stone
    Capricorn. Meanwhile, Zalbag overhears.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #42: At the Gate of Limberry Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Celia or Lede
Enemies: Celia (Assassin), Lede (Assassin), Apanda x5
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 4

Of course, thereís always a gate battle. The mission objective lied to you Ė
it says to defeat all enemies, but defeating either Celia or Lede (or
lowering their HP down to Critical) will victorize this battle. Ramzaís
position up close makes him a certain target for the Bio-casting Apandas and
Celia or Ledeís Shadow Stitch. If heís still moving, have him immediately
charge to the closest Assassin and attack her. Bring a wizard or Summoner
here too, as they can do considerate damage with spells from far away with
their magic. As long as you only try to target one Assassin, youíll be able
to easily go through this battle. Avoid the Apandas, they will cast Bio
spells, but the more dangerous status anomalies will come rarely. Beware of
the olí Stop Bracelet coming from either Assassin; it kills with one hit,
100% hit rate. If youíre still having trouble with the Assassins, equip
Angel Rings to prevent Stop Bracelet. Also, be sure to make Ramza a Squire
here, because he can learn Ultima when the Assassins cast it on him. That
is, if he survives. You can do this in the next battle, too, but Iíd rather
hump a beehive than try and get it in the next one.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Inside of Capitol Limberry, Vormav tells Elmdor to watch out for Ramza, and
gives him the Holy Stone. Celia and Lede come in and tell Elmdor that Ramza
got in. Vormav retreats back to the church as the other three go on to face
    Ramza.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #43: Inside of Limberry Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Elmdor
Enemies: Mesdoram Elmdor (Arc Knight), Celia (Assassin/Ultima Demon), Lede
    (Assassin/Ultima Demon)
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 10

This, in real fact, honestly, is the hardest battle in the game. Big
surprise, huh? You outnumber the enemies on the field, but they outrank you
in every way possible. Elmdor has a whole lot of HP (around 560) and attacks
like Blood Suck and Muramasa. To top it all off, he has the legendary Blade
Grasp ability always equipped. This makes it extraordinary hard to kill him
with regular attacks, so youíll need to rely on Magic or Holy Sword attacks
and the like. Celia and Lede both have Shadow Stitch, Stop Bracelet, and
Ultima. Plus, if you get their HP down all the way, they transform into
Ultima Demons. Now, I suggest you equip ALL of your units with either Angel
Rings or 108 Gems. Your female units, however, should be equipped with
Barrettes, Chantage, Cachusha or Ribbon. You should definitely have a
Barrette with you (un-equip Almaís when going to Orbonne in Chapter 3). 108
Gems protects you from Elmdorís Blood Suck, while Angel Rings protect you
from the Assassinís Stop Bracelet. However, that still does little good to
you. Celia or Lede will use Ultima or Shadow Stitch if theyíre equipped with
Angel Rings, and Elmdor will use the powerful Muramasa. Blood Suck isnít
THAT dangerous, as it makes the affected unit usually attack enemy targets,
but with Elmdorís Blade Grasp, life wonít be easy for them. Donít bunch up
your units either. Do NOT move a character in range of the assassins and
Elmdor on your first turn, itís tempting to do so to do damage on them, but
itís really not a good idea. Instead, move him/her to the side area away
from the main party. Let Elmdor teleport to you and wait for the assassins,
then go full force on Elmdor. Blade Grasp doesnít evade Magic, so do a Flare
or Bolt 4 on Elmdor. While youíre doing this, send a decoy or two to the
Assassins, so they can waste their time with them while Elmdor deals with
you. Using magic is the key to winning this battle, since Knights, Archers,
and many other units (hell, even units with Guns equipped) will do mostly no
effect on Elmdor. Make sure youíre also prepared, remove Ignore Height and
replace it with stuff such as Teleport or Move +3 since Ignore Height has
little standings here. If you get freaking tired of Elmdorís Blade Grasp,
put Red Chocobos in here and/or Ninjas with two swords. I think a way to get
him down to half is by getting two Red Chocobos cast Choco Meteor on him,
and then having a Ninja attack twice (second hit is always hits, avoids
Blade Grasp), and then finishing him off with magic. Iím not sure if he can
evade Choco Meteor, though. Be patient, as it will usually take you more
than one try to beat this battle, even with Orlandu. Now you know why Iíd
rather hump a beehive than try to learn Ultima from the Assassins/Ultima
Demons in this battle. Oh, and Elmdor carries Genji equipment, so if you
have a thief, you may want to try and steal all of it. However, Iíd rather
hump two beehives than attempt that.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #44: Underground Cemetery of Limberry Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Zalera
Enemies: Zalera (Angel of Death), Knight x2, Skeleton, Bone Snatch, Living
    Bone
    Guests: Meliadoul Tingel (Divine Knight)
    Difficulty: 5

Well, as always, Lucavi appears. Now, donít fret. This battle is much easier
than the previous one (I wonder what happened to the Assassins, I never
touched them in the previous battle). Anywho, Zalera will use Nightmare a
lot. This affects a small area and causes different kinds of status effects,
but mainly Sleep and Death Sentence. On the first turn, Meliadoul will barge
in and see the Lucavi, then join in as a guest. It may seem that sheís doing
very little good, but sheís actually luring the Skeletons away from you. The
knights are zombies with nothing equipped, but still have the Break
techniques all ready to use. If they get annoying, get rid of them with
Phoenix Downs, but I recommend that you only concentrate on Zalera, as he
will bring you down with more Nightmares. Gang up on him and strike. If you
want, you can easily kill every enemy here (except for Zalera) with a
Phoenix Down, but itís a waste of time. No more humping beehives for me.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Meliadoul finds out the truth behind Izludeís killing and that Vormav, her
father, is using even the High Priest to get the Holy Stones and open the
lost city Murond, where he can revive the Bloody Angel. Meliadoul gives
Ramza her Holy Stone Pisces and tells Ramza that one of the stones was given
to Lord Dycedarg, Ramzaís older brother. She joins you and you set off to
    Igros.

As you leave Limberry, you see a scene in Zeltennia, where Delita has become
the Chieftain. Olan, who knows about the assassination of Goltana and who
did it, escapes for the guards that Delita ordered to capture him. Olan is
about to tell Ovelia who really killed Goltana, but Delita barges in. He
tells Ovelia to go to her room and then says that Olan works for him and he
canít do. He also reveals that heís using the world for Ovelia. Balmafula
draws a dagger against him but he pushes her back.

At the local cemetery in Igros, Zalbag takes a lone chemist to Balbanesí
tombstone. He picks up a flower and it turns out to be Mosfungus. The
chemist runs off with the money Zalbag gave him and now Zalbag knows who
killed Balbanes Ė Dycedarg. Once you get to Igros, you notice Zalbagís
chocobo standing near the gate. No gate battle this time, but inside, Zalbag
attacks Dycedarg and you help him.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #45: Igros Castle
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Dycedarg and Adramelk
Enemies: Dycedarg Beoulve (Lune Knight), Knight x5, Adramelk (Ghost of Fury)
    Guests: Zalbag Beoulve (Arc Knight)
    Difficulty: 6

The objective, once again, lies to you. Well, not really. They made a typo
ďDefeat Dycedargís Elder BrotherĒ. To make it seem even sadder, some people
think Zalbag is Dycedargís older brother so they try to kill him. Anyway,
this battle will be much like the one in Riovanes Castle with Wiegraf. You
start off in a pretty crappy position, and itís not worth the effort to try
and scale the ďmountainĒ up to Dycedarg. Bring ranged users and magicians
here and attack Dycedarg from your location, while moving them forward under
the bridge. Donít waste time with the Knights; theyíll disappear once you
take care of Dycedarg. Zalbag will usually get ganged up on knights, but
donít worry too much about him. Donít scrunch up your units either, because
Dyce can use Lightning Stab. Zalbag usually dies, and itís not too much to
worry about, but if you really love him, toss him an X-Potion or Phoenix
Down. Donít throw anything at Dycedarg either, because he has Catch. After
killing Dyce, heíll turn into Adramelk. Now, if you have your units bunched
up, immediately get them as far away from each other as possible. Adramelk
has a powerful many-panels attack that will petrify your characters
literally, and it mostly works. Get a couple of units up there on the
bridge. If you have Ignore Height, this shouldnít be a problem. He can also
cast Odin and Leviathan on a wide area. Adramelk is slow, but powerful.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #46: St. Murond Temple
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
Enemies: Priest, Summoner, Geomancer x2, Mediator x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 6

Geomancers are new here, if you havenít seen them in random battles before.
You should be familiar with Geomancy, though, since many knights had it. The
Summoner thatís near you behind the Priest will be a problem Ė as long as
you keep your units together. Without Orlandu, youíll definitely need
someone with Ignore Height here; otherwise the Summoner will toy around with
you. Get someone up there and attack the Summoner, and move your other units
towards the side to attack the incoming Geomancers. Make sure, however, that
you have status-anomaly-healing items with you, as Geomancy can Ė sometimes
Ė cause some not-so-welcoming status effects on your characters. If you
donít have Ignore Height, then Flare the Summoner or cast a powerful spell
on him. He is an immediate target and needs to be defeated quickly. Even if
you lower his HP down to Critical, the Priest will heal him. About the
priest, by the way, send a good move unit toward him and continuously attack
him, since for some reason he moves down near the Geomancers and casts
healing spells. Make sure the unit has good defense, or the Geomancers will
come and the Priest will heal himself. The priest can also use Raise and
Raise 2, which are killer moves (b. If he does it on the Summoner, kill the
Summoner quickly. Just follow the Priests around and keep on attacking him.
The second squad will take on two Mediators, who arenít that powerful.
Theyíll attack with guns, and sometimes use Talk skills. Iíve heard rumors
that they can invite your units to their party and your units will never
come back, but Iíve never experienced this. Otherwise, thereís nothing else
to say about this one, just remember to take out the Summoner as quickly as
possible, because he can make your life hell.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #47: St. Murond Temple Hall
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat Vormav (or anyone else)
Enemies: Vormav Tingel (Divine Knight), Rofel Wodring (Divine Knight),
    Kletian Drowa (Sorcerer)
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 2

After Vormav tricks you into giving him the Germonik Scriptures, he attacks.
This battle isnít as hard as it looks, and getting ANY enemy down to
Critical status will result in victory. Although Kletian is the weakest
target here, it is Rofel who moves right to you, along with Vormav, and
attacks. Make sure you have Concentrate on most of your units equipped,
because both Rofel and Vormav can break your equipment with the same attacks
that Meliadoul has. Also, if you have units that move first, before Vormav
and Rofel, then donít move them at all, and donít attack either. Vormav will
usually move to you first, then Rofel. Rofel is closer and weaker, and you
can take him and reduce him to Critical before itís their turn. Just let out
everything you have on him. Meliadoulís attacks, Agriasís, regular attacks,
and/or magic. Kletian will move later and can do Dark Holy and that kinds of
magic on you, but no worries should come.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #48: St. Murond Temple Chapel
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Zalbag
Enemies: Zalbag Beoulve (Arc Knight), Ultima Demon, Archaic Demon x2
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 7

Before entering, make sure you have at least 3 108 Gems accessories. This
way, youíll be immune to the zombified Zalbagís Blood Suck. Stay in your
position and wait for Zalbag to arrive. Once he does, move onto him. The
catch is, however, that you must not do any weak attacks on him. He has
Speed Save, which increases his Speed by 1 each time you touch him, so only
use strong attacks on him. He IS undead, by donít Phoenix Downs wonít work
on him. The Archaic and Ultima Demons will wear you down with some
semi-strong spells, but avoid them and aim at Zalbag only. With 108 Gems
equipped he shouldnít be able to use his signature Blood Suck move on you.
Just break his equipment and use spells like Flare, while keeping your units
in the back and avoiding the Demons. If he doesnít die before he moves
again, heíll usually retreat in the back and his Move-HP Up will heal him
all the way back to the top Ė so try to immediately kill him.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: Before going forward to Orbonne Monastery, make sure you have enough
accessories. I would choose some status-immunity accessories as well as some
bracers and shoes. Also, make sure you have spare weapons and armor, Ďcuz
    youíll need it.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #49: Underground Book Storage 4th Floor
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat all Enemies
    Enemies: Knight x3, Archer x2, Monk x1
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 2

This battle should be nothing new to you. Youíve seen these enemies
everywhere before, and they arenít that strong either. As an added bonus,
you have the high ground (not counting the three knights on the bridge to
your side). Start by Bolt 4-ing the archers and monks below you, or you can
simply kill the knights near you... although itíll take them a while to get
to you anyway. Still, watch out for their Geomancy. If youíre using Orlandu,
you should be done with this battle by the time you finish reading this
    strategy.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #50: Underground Book Storage 5th Floor
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Objective: Defeat Rofel
Enemies: Rofel Wodring (Divine Knight), Summoner x2, Wizard x2, Time Mage x1
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 6

This battle is a test of patience... usually, people will want to get
through this battle very, very quickly (and with the help of Orlandu :p).
Anyway, you can either start off by whamming the hell off of Rofel, or Rofel
can start whamming the hell out of you. If you plan on killing him quickly,
youíre going to have to take serious amounts of damage. Rofel will
immediately move towards you and cast some Break spells on you. Like I said,
have spare amounts of weapons and armor so you can re-equip after this
fight. Now that Rofelís moved close to you, you can gang up on him and beat
his sorry ass down. Watch out for the Summoners if you do gang up on him,
they can cause a heavy amount of damage with one dose of their Ramuh summons
(sometimes Titan and Leviathan). Having Orlandu in this fight makes it a tad
    easier.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Battle #51: Murond Death City
    Objective: Defeat Kletian
Enemies: Kletian Drowa (Sorcerer), Samurais, Ninjas, Time Mages
    Guests: None
    Difficulty: 3

Hmmm... Why does the Time Mage use Jump a lot? And why does he do less than
25 damage? Thatís right, youíll experience both Time Magesí Lancer Mad
Skillz, well, not really ďmadĒ. They rarely use their Time Magic, too! The
Samurais and Ninjas arenít a problem either as long as you donít get too
close to them. Kletian himself can be disposed of before he gets the chance
to act. His position is closest to your first squad, so put your better
units (and Black Mage) there. Kletian will sustain large amounts of magic
damage, and you can easily finish him off with a couple of sword attacks.
With Orlandu having Excalibur + Haste, I managed to kill him with my first
unit (Orlandu) in one hit. Quickest win ever? I think so!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three more battles, and Iíll post them up soon.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    BOSSES
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Miluda
    HP: ~120
    Class: Knight
    Sex: Female
    Location: Thieves Fort, Ch.1
    Difficulty: Easy

Miluda, Wiegrafís sister, classifies as a knight in command of the Death
Corps. Her guard is much better than some of the other knights around the
area, and she has more HP than anyone else thus far.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Miluda
    HP: ~135
    Class: Knight
    Sex: Female
    Location: Lenalia Plateau, Ch.1
    Difficulty: Medium

Increased stats make her harder this time. Plus, sheís back by two wizards
    and a time mage.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Wiegraf
    HP: ~150
    Class: White Knight
    Sex: Male
    Location: Windmill Shed, Ch.1
    Difficulty: Medium

Wiegrafís abilities exceed anything else youíve seen in Chapter 1. Crush
Punch, as well as Stasis Sword, will do tremendous amounts of damage to you.
You only need to lower him down to Critical state, and he likes to get in
the front offense of his party firsthand.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Algus
    HP: ~140
    Class: Knight
    Sex: Male
    Location: Ft. Zeakden, Ch.1
    Difficulty: Hard

Youíll need to watch out for his Auto-Potion, so donít use weak attacks
against him, or youíll just be healing him. He has a crossbow equipped, for
some unknown reason. I remember the same thing with Leonard in Coritani
Castle in Tactics Ogre... Algus isnít the main threat here, though, his
    backup knights are. Watch out!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Gafgarion
    HP: ~80 - ~210
    Class: Any
    Sex: Male
    Location: Zirekile Falls, Ch.2
    Difficulty: Easy

I donít think youíll need an explanation for this guy. Un-equip all of his
stuff before Zirekile Falls (damn traitor) and make him either a Wizard or
Chemist and remove all of his abilities. Heíll flee when his health is
    Critical.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Gafgarion
    HP: ~210
    Class: Dark Knight
    Sex: Male
    Location: Golgorand Execution Site, Ch.2
    Difficulty: Hard

Itís been long since the last boss, so Gafgarion agrees to make up for it.
This time, heís much harder. His units will tear holes in your body, while
heíll drain your HP. Lure him away from your parties and Arm Aim him. Bolt
spells also work well, and I suggest a massive Bolt 2 or 3 spell on him.
    Heíll retreat when Critical.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Gafgarion
    HP: ~210
    Class: Dark Knight
    Sex: Male
Location: At the Gate of Lionel Castle, Ch.2
    Difficulty: Hard

This will be the last time you fight Gafgarion, but not the hardest. It
looks like Ramza is fighting him alone, as the others are dunking it out
with the enemies behind the gate. Have Punch Art and Guts, and Chakra
yourself as well as Yell at yourself. Keep doing this until you get Double
Turns, and then just beat him up. Or you can simply open the gate by
    stepping next to the switch.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Queklain
    HP: ~500
    Class: Impure King
    Sex: Male
Location: Inside of Lionel Castle, Ch.2
    Difficulty: Medium

Spread out your units to avoid Nightmare, and then wobble him down with guns
(donít use Aim Skill), magic, and regular attacks. Make sure, at all times,
that you have a wizard here. My bolt spells did around 160-200 damage on
him. Donít even try to cure Death Sentence, as thereís no way and itís a
waste of time. Queklain seems to like escaping to the back and casting Bio
as well, so make sure you have some Petrify/Sleep protection.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Zalmo
    HP: ~210
    Class: Holy Priest
    Sex: Male
Location: Back Gate of Lesalia Castle, Ch.3
    Difficulty: Medium

You can get rid of Zalmo faster than you need to with Ramza and far-ranged
characters. Actually, if youíre going only for Zalmo, your army is pretty
much worthless. Alma will cast Mbarrier on Ramza, boosting his stats and
making him practically invincible, so go immediately for Ramza. Donít attack
anyone else, as he will Raise and heal him or her. He likes to move into
offense for some reason. Odd AI. Zalmo will retreat when at Critical.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Izlude
    HP: ~340
    Class: Knight Blade
    Sex: Male
Location: Undg. Book Storage 3rd Floor
    Difficulty: Hard

Izlude is a bastard. First of all, he has the biggest Lancer advantage, and
can Jump and hit your units all the way from his starting location. Second,
his archers and knights will keep you away from him. Third, heís one fast
hooker. This means that most good spells, such as Bolt, wonít work on him
since heíll probably escape the area. Advice: go for him only. Every other
unit has strong defenses and evade. Heíll retreat when Critical.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Wiegraf
    HP: ~360
    Class: White Knight
    Sex: Male
Location: Undg. Book Storage 1st Floor
    Difficulty: Medium

First and foremost: Do not TOUCH any of Wiegrafís sluts. Donít think about
them, donít look at them, just pretend they arenít there, no matter what
they do to you. Besides, theyíre probably lesbians. Anyways, Wiegraf just
tramples his way to your side and starts Lightning Stabbing you. Just cast
your best spells and do anything you can on him. ANYTHING. Donít worry if
you die, donít heal, nothing like that. Heíll retreat when Critical.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Malak
    HP: ~190
    Class: Hell Knight
    Sex: Male
    Location: Yardow Fort City
    Difficulty: Easy

Malak is a wuss, but the battle itself is hard. Malak actually will help you
more than actually face you. His Gokuu Rod has a chance of casting Innocent
on the target, so if he attacks you and this will happen, your Faith goes
down to 0. This can be very helpful Ė especially if he does this on your
more weapon-relying characters, as the spells of the two enemy summoners on
the battlefield will do nigh none damage on those characters. Leave Malak
be, and kill him when heís in the way. He retreats when Critical.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Malak
    HP: ~200
    Class: Hell Knight
    Sex: Male
Location: At the Gate of Riovanes Castle
    Difficulty: Easy

Heís same as above, except when you lower him down to Critical, heíll
retreat along with Rafa, so if you still need Rafaís help (why?) then avoid
him. Otherwise, heís just a wooden shield to the more powerful knights and
    archers on the battlefield.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Wiegraf, and Velius
    HP: ~360, ~920
    Class: White Knight, Warlock
    Sex: Male
    Location: Within Riovanes Castle
    Difficulty: Easy or Hard

Ok, donít freak out. Ramza fights him alone, but there is a way to defeat
him, as well as the next boss Velius (deemed to be the hardest in the game,
these two will attack you with absolutely no breaks in between). Refer to
    this:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Elmdor, Celia, and Lede
    HP: ~340, ~270, ~260
    Class: Arc Knight, Assassins
    Sex: Male, Female, Female
    Location: Roof of Riovanes Castle
    Difficulty: Hard

Iím not even going to go over this... this whole battle is composed only of
these three, so refer to the Battle Guide for the strategy I have.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Meliadoul
    HP: ~400
    Class: Divine Knight
    Sex: Female
    Location: Bervenia
    Difficulty: Hard

Hmph. I hate her. I hate this battle. Meliadoul is a pain in the ass, and
her whole team is no exception. Once again, she is the main target. Trying
to kill the archers at the top instead of her is like committing suicide.
Meliadoulís sword skills will damage one character, as well as break a piece
of equipment with 100% chances. ARGH!!! Keep Concentrate on, and if you have
high Brave, get a thief with Steal Accessory to jack Meliadoulís Chantage.
Gang up on her and the Ninja (Meliadoul usually retreats towards the
Summoner or the Ninja). She will retreat when critical.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Zalmo
    HP: ~300
    Class: Holy Priest
    Sex: Male
    Location: Church Outside of Zeltennia
    Difficulty: Easy

If you have a lancer with Ignore Height, send him up there. Zalmo wonít
damage you a lot, but he can heal himself. If youíre faster than him, your
Lancer should be able to take him down in two hits, but if runs toward his
Oracles and cures himself, get your Lancer back down and follow the LONG
route up to the top of the church.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Balk
    HP: ~360
    Class: Engineer
    Sex: Male
    Location: Bed Desert
    Difficulty: Medium

It is Balk himself that will cause most of the problems in this battle. He
first tricks you with Poison, and then he starts beating down your
characters with his Blast Gun (?) which usually does a whopping 200+ damage
to one character. Also, did I mention that Balk is as fast as hell? In this
battle, concentrate more on Range rather than right-in-the-face offensive,
since Balk likes to position himself on one of the higher towers and shoot
you down from there. I recommend Bolt spells.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Celia and Lede
    HP: ~360, ~380
    Class: Assassins
    Sex: Female, Female
Location: At the Gate of Limberry Castle
    Difficulty: Easy

Although it says ĎDefeat all enemiesí, Celia and Lede are your main
priorities, and you have to defeat one of them to finish this battle,
actually. Just go kamikaze on one of them, send Ramza up to one of them,
then send your other units in the building and get rid of Celia, whoís
farther away (she has bad magic defense and bad defense, but higher HP).
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Elmdor, Celia, and Lede
    HP: ~550, ~365, ~385
    Class: Arc Knight, Assassins
    Sex: Male, Female, Female
    Location: Inside of Limberry Castle
    Difficulty: Very Hard

If you want a strategy, scroll up and find the battle where you fight these
guys (Battle #43). They are the only three on the battlefield, so thereís no
    use writing another strategy =D

    STORY GUIDE
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This Story guide proceeds through the main events in the game. It may
contain lots of spoilers, so read at your owns risk!

    =======================================================================
    Orbonne Attack:
    =======================================================================
An Elite Knight of Zeltennia, Lezales, and his troops, make their way down
the terrain of Ivalice and to Dorter Trade City, the southern-most city in
Lesalia, and then down to Orbonne Monastery, where they plan to kidnap
Princess Ovelia. In Orbonne, the priest Simon and Agrias are waiting for
Ovelia to end her prayers. Ramza, Rad, and Gafgarion come in. They are
mercenaries on this mission. Agrias scolds Gafgarion and suddenly a knight
comes in and tells Agrias that they are under attack by Lezales. Agrias and
her knights run outside but Gafgarion and Ramza and Rad follow. After
beating the Elite Knights, they find the princess kidnapped by Delita, an
old friend of Ramzaís. Delita seems to have a plan, but he runs off. Ramza
tells his story to Agrias and Gafgarion.

    =======================================================================
    Cadets:
    =======================================================================
The Marquis Elmdor is coming to Gariland Magic City. The cadets of Gariland
academy are there. The war has just ended in anyone who didnít have a home
joined up with Death Corps, an organization that robs people of money and
especially nobles. Death Corps despise Beoulves the most. Ramza is a Beoulve
and Beoulves are the most noble family in Gallione. Suddenly, in the cadet
academy, Ramza and Delita, who are also cadets, find out that Gariland is
under attack by Death Corps. The cadets rush off and beat the thieves. After
beating them, Ramza and the cadets decide to go to Igros Castle, the Beoulve
noble place and the main castle of Gallione.

    =======================================================================
Algus, Dycedarg, Zalbag, and the Sisters:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Interrogating the Knight:
    =======================================================================
Watch Algus beat the crap outta the poor knight. The knight will tell them
that Wiegraf went to Zeklaus Desert looking for Gustav. Gustav planned the
kidnap of the Marquis, but Algus is still rough on the knight so he kicks
more crap out of him. Go to Zeklaus Desert.

    =======================================================================
    Wiegraf and Gustav:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Igros Castle Kidnapping:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Windmill Shed:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Ft. Zeakden:
    =======================================================================
At Zeakden, Zalbag orders Algus to kill Teta and he does so, having Golagros
lock himself up in the fort. After the battle, Delita stays in the fort as
it blows up and Ramza runs. Now, letís fast forward back to where the first
    battle occurred.

    =======================================================================
    Delita Reunion:
    =======================================================================
After saving Ovelia at Zirekile Falls, youíll talk to Delita, standing on
the bridge. Geez, it could break and theyíd fall, and thereíd be no hero!
How stupid can they get? Your Bethla route will change to Lionel after
Delita tells you to go there. Too bad you have to wait for Chapter 4 to go
    to the big-ass castle.

    =======================================================================
    Mustadio:
    =======================================================================
Mustadio will become a guest now. Bart Company is chasing him for something
that he wonít tell you about yet. His gun rules, but donít un-equip it yet,
    though.

    =======================================================================
    Dycedargís Plot:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Rudvich, Delita, and Draclau:
    =======================================================================
When you get to Goug, youíll find that no battle has occurred. Just try to
leave and Bart Rudvichís meníll attack you and a stripped Mustadio will be
knocked out (and I donít mean stripped like Ďthatí, you gay pervert).

    =======================================================================
    The Substitute:
    =======================================================================
A scene will follow where a mysterious knight named Vormav tells Ovelia that
she is not the real Princess and is a substitute for the prince Orinas. Go
to Lionel. You can go past it if you feel like gaining levels in places
    besides the dreaded Bariaus Valley.

    =======================================================================
    The Plot:
    =======================================================================
The Nanten knights march into war against
the Hokuten. Nanten is led by Ovelia and the Hokuten is led by little widdle
Orinas... but they probably arenít really ďleadingĒ the army.

A discussion will take place in Bethla Garrison about the Zeltennia/Limberry
war and drought. Blansh will argue with Orlandu and Goltana sides with him
because he doesnít want peace with the Hokuten. Ramza sets off to Lesalia to
    speak with Zalbag.

    =======================================================================
    Olan Meeting; Lesalia:
    =======================================================================
Olan doesnít give you his identity as of yet, so heíll thank you and leaves
you. At Lesalia, Ramza tells Zalbag that Dycedarg may be part of the plot of
the war, but Zalbag has to disagree with that and bash Ramza. A knight tells
Zalbag that Orlandu broke through Doguola and he leaves. Buy stuff at
Lesalia then try to leave. Youíll meet Alma and Ramza will tell her that
Delita and Dycedarg as probably dangerous. Zalmo, a Heresy Examiner, shows
up and attacks Ramza and Alma. Ramza has been branded a heretic and wonders
about the zodiac stones. Alma knows where one is hidden and Ramza asks her
but she says to take her with him. Itís in Orbonne.

    =======================================================================
    Velius Watch; New Quest:
    =======================================================================
Get the Germonik Scriptures and Ramza will see Alma being kidnapped by
Izlude. Wiegraf, wounded from the last battle, mutters his last words as the
Zodiac Stone Aries flies out of his hands and speaks to him. Wiegraf takes
it and gets revived into the powerful Warlock Velius. He will then teleport
away from the area. Leave and go to Dorter, where Ramza meets an Exotic
Wizard who wants him to go to Riovanes Castle with the Germonik Scriptures
in exchange for Alma. Try to leave Dorter and you will see a cutscene with
Delita talking to the ďfakeĒ Ovelia telling her heíll help her make Ivalice
a better place, or something like that. I forgot. Re-stock at Lesalia and go
    north to Grog Hill.

    =======================================================================
    Reunion with Olan:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Divine Rafa:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Riovanes Castle:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Back to Life:
    =======================================================================
Ramza
knows of T.G Cid AKA Orlandu, and wants to meet Delita in Zeltennia, so that
will be your next destination. Meanwhile in Zeltennia, Olan comes in to talk
about Orlandu about a big battle with the Nanten and Hokuten which will
occur in Bethla Garrison. Orlandu shows Olan the Holy Stone that he has and
tells him that the Nanten will soon find out that he has it, and the real
    war will begin.

    =======================================================================
    Delita Reunion 3:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Meeting at the Church:
    =======================================================================
Delita will call Balmafula. She is an assassin sent by the high priest to
help (or ďspyĒ) on Delita. Ramza will now go to Bethla Garrison through Bed
Desert instead of Zirekile Falls to rescue Orlandu and try to stop the
battle. The catch Ė Delita, Balfamula, Olan, Goltana, Larg, Zalbag, and
Dycedarg are also going to Bethla. BIG battle, I tell you. Now head to Bed
Desert, south of Bervenia. Make sure to stock up on equipment in Zeltennia
too. Also, if you feel like doing propositions without going on green
spaces, talk to the barkeep and read the ďCursed Island, NelveskaĒ rumor.
This will open up a route north to Nelveska Temple. This is unimportant for
now, but later when youíre finishing up the Cloud Subquest youíll go here,
but right now thereís nothing to see there, so do your propositions and go
back and forth Zeltennia and Nelveska.

    =======================================================================
    Orlanduís Arrest:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Largís Death:
    =======================================================================
He then tells Zalbag
that someone was sent to kill Larg and to put the dagger into a Nantenís
    hands.

    =======================================================================
    Goltanaís Death:
    =======================================================================

    =======================================================================
    Rofel and Dycedarg:
    =======================================================================
Meanwhile, Dycedarg is talking to Temple Knight Rofel in Igros office. Rofel
gives him information on Mosfungus poison and how it can affect others once
it got out of Balbanesís poisoned body. Dycedarg denies that he killed
Balbanes, but Rofel knows. He gives Dycedarh the Holy Stone Capricorn.
    Meanwhile, Zalbag overhears.

    =======================================================================
    Vormav and Elmdor:
    =======================================================================
Inside of Capitol Limberry, Vormav tells Elmdor to watch out for Ramza, and
gives him the Holy Stone. Celia and Lede come in and tell Elmdor that Ramza
got in. Vormav retreats back to the church as the other three go on to face
    Ramza.

    =======================================================================
    The Mysteries are solved:
    =======================================================================

    RANDOM BATTLES
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Random battles are a big part of FFT. They will let you gain levels outside
of the story. People tend to think that all the time, though they can be
used to uncover many other things.

Random battles occur on the green dots on the world map. Each time you pass
one or go to one, thereís about a 40-50% chance of going into a random
battle. These battles are just like story battles, except of course without
the story. Your capacity of units is always 5, and you can only have 1
squad. No guests will help you in random battles.

The enemies in random battles will also appear randomly. Theyíre all
different and their stats are equivalent to yours Ė theyíll gain levels as
you do and become stronger. Surely you didnít think youíd always fight Level
1 enemies, did you? There can be at minimum 1 enemy on the battlefield, and
    at maximum 12 (?)

You should never worry about random battles TOO much. They are not even
close to the story battles, and when you get into one youíll be able to
usually beat it. That is, until Chapter 4. In Chapter 4, ďrareĒ battles will
occasionally pop up in places. This can be ranging from Guest characters on
the field to 9 Ninjas many levels ahead of you. And yes, random battles do
sometimes have guests being attacked in them.

Below is a list of the random battle locations, as well as the rare random
battles that can appear to be. I also included battlefield descriptions.
Rare battles will take place only in Chapter 4, so keep that in mind.

    =======================================================================
    MANDALIA PLAINS
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Dragons
Map: A plain with some rocks around it. The terrain is, ironically, not too
plain, but you wonít have a bad time here and gaining levels should be nice.
West- Igros. East- Gariland. South- Murond Holy Place.
Rare Enemy Group: Green Dragon x3, Red Dragon
    Guests: Blue Dragon x4

Not too hard... just let the Green Dragons do most of the work and watch.
Come in if the other side is winning.

    =======================================================================
    SWEEGY WOODS
    =======================================================================
Rare Battle: Magic Users and Archers
Map: A couple of trees surround a river flowing in the middle. The islands
in the river serve as enemy mounting positions, so take them first. West-
    Gariland. East- Dorter Trade City.
    Rare Enemy Group: Summoner/Oracle, Knight/Geomancer, Wizard/Time Mage,
    Archer x2
    Guests: None

They may be a couple of levels above you, but if you run into a Summoner and
Wizard, reset and try getting in with an Oracle/Time Mage.

    =======================================================================
    ZEKLAUS DESERT
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Bull Demon
Map: A huge desert with a couple of terrain blocks in it. There is no
height-dangerous terrain, however, so this could be a great one to build up
some levels. Many Bull Demons and Juravisí pop up, too. North- Goland.
South- Dorter Trade City. West- Bervenia Volcano.
    Rare Enemy Group: Minitaurus
    Guests: Knight

The Minitaurus has about 700-900HP, and the Knight has about 300-500, so
youíll need to help him out.

    =======================================================================
    LENALIA PLATEAU
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Calculators
Map: There are some terrain tweaks here, with water near the beginning and
cliffs in the middle. It looks much like a central path with hills
surrounding it. The center is enemy fodder, while the west edge is an ideal
hiding place from the main battlefield. South- Gariland. North- Fovoham
    Plains.
    Rare Enemy Group: Calculator x5
    Guests: None

This could be tough. Immediately go for the Calculators, but donít bunch up.
Even if you donít, they can calculate ALL spells, so you wonít have easiness
    here.

    =======================================================================
    FOVOHAM PLAINS
    =======================================================================
Rare Battle: Basic Classes and Magic Users
Map: I donít fight here much, and you probably havenít either. This one is
actually Windmill Shed in Story Battles. I remember a cliff here, and I got
into a rare battle too! South- Lenalia Plateau. East- Riovanes Castle. West-
    Ft. Zeakden
Rare Enemy Group: Knight/Archer x2, Time Mage x2, Wizard
    Guests: None

Save the Time Mages for last and take out the wizard first. Itís better that
the archer generics are actually knights, because they wonít be able to have
ranged attacks. They do specialize in many Battle Skills, though.

    =======================================================================
    ARAGUAY WOODS
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Ninjas
Map: I hate this one. I hate all forest battles, in fact. The little hills
at the end donít serve much, and the holes donít come even close to being
hiding spots. The trees donít do much but block your way, too. West- Dorter
    Trade City. East- Zirekile Falls.
    Rare Enemy Group: Ninja x6
    Guests: None

The Ninjas here are usually 8-12 levels ahead of you, and they are no
pushovers. If you get in any way of their range theyíll gang up on you and
beat you down with swords and throwing weapons. If you are high levels
(80s/90s), then the Ninjas can throw some extremely hard-to-get weapons at
you. Prime Example: Chaos Blade. You want that, donít you, babe? Have Catch
    equipped.

    =======================================================================
    ZIREKILE FALLS
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Magic Users
Map: A big waterfall is in the middle and a suspended bridge lets you cross
in the middle lets you cross to the other side, while you can also cross via
water at the bottom and the top. Anything that lets you easily cross water
(you can stand on the waterfall cliffs) is a must here, since youíll fight
lots of water/flying type enemies here. Then again, donít fight here unless
youíre coming from Zaland. West- Araguay Woods. East- Bethla Garrison
    Rare Enemy Group: Knight/Summoner/Time Mage, Summoner/Time Mage/Oracle,
    Wizard/Summoner
    Guests: None

This oneís easy as long as the knight is present in place of the Summoner or
Time Mage. If there is no Wizard, itís even easier. Just watch out for any
    type of Summons spells.

    =======================================================================
    BARIAUS HILL
    =======================================================================Rare
    Battle: Super Monsters.
Map: Thereís a hill in the middle, while two low paths follow on the sides.
The only way to get up to the top of the hill from the low pathsí bottom is
to have Ignore Height. Itís a great place to battle and poach. South-
    Lionel. North- Zaland Fort City.
Rare Enemy Group: Hydra, Hyudra, Tiamat*, Behemoth, Dark Behemoth, King
Behemoth, Red Dragon, Green Dragon, Blue Dragon, Red Chocobo
    Guests: Yellow Chocobo/Black Chocobo/Hydra, Hydra/King Behemoth
*This one showed up when the King Behemoth guest was there. I donít know if
heís there for sure, but it might be a glitch.

This is the hardest rare battle and possibly one of the hardest in the game.
The guests wonít help much, but the enemies will. Theyíll help themselves
kill you. Itís much harder than Lost Sacred Precincts.

    =======================================================================
    ZIGOLIS SWAMP
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Fighters.
Map: There is land on the side while a fallen log and a poison-ridden swamp
lay in the middle. The swamp is poisonous and will poison you when you step
in it (at the end of the turn). This means that fighting here is a pure
waste of time and thereís really nothing else to see here either. West- Goug
    Machine City. East- Lionel.
    Rare Enemy Group: Samurai/Archer, Archer/Lancer, Squire/Monk, Knight x2
    Guests: None

I actually got into this one, but no further information is known (I rushed
through it and it didnít take long).

    =======================================================================
    BARIAUS VALLEY
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Different Monsters
Map: This is literally the best area to gain levels at in Chapter 2, but
thatís because itís the ONLY level you can gain levels in when youíre stuck
at Golgorand. Damn it. Anyhow, thereís a river in the middle and an island
with a cliff on the south side in the middle of it, while both other sides
have land and few hills. Itís not that bad of a map, but youíll need to be
crossing the river a lot, while getting into fights with Pisco Demons and
Goblins. East- Warjilis. West- Lionel. South- Golgorand Execution Site.
Rare Enemy Group: Yellow Chocobo/Ahriman, Black Chocobo/Plague, Red
    Chocobo/Morbol, Ochu/Tiamat, Morbol/Tiamat
    Guests: None

If you get into this one, but donít see any Tiamats, pull off a reset. The
only reason you need to get to the rare battle is to invite Tiamats to your
party. One of the strongest non-NPC join units in the game.

    =======================================================================
    GROG HILL
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Monks
Map: A flat boardwalk separates the two sides of this map. The other parts
of the map are the small and non-dangerous hills that you can easily jump
onto to get higher on the map. Thatís pretty much it. West- Yardow Fort
City. East- Doguola Pass. South- Lesalia.
    Rare Enemy Group: Monk x11
    Guests: None

The monks may have low HP and defense, but they exceed in everything else.
This battle is a pain in the ass, and yes, Iíve actually tried it and barely
beat it. Theyíre all lined up in a row at the top of the hill.

    =======================================================================
    YUGUO WOODS
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Samurais
Map: If youíre planning to gain some levels before going on to Riovanes
Castle in Chapter 3, this is your opportunity. The map is pretty much plain,
thereís an undead tree in the middle of the map, and no, you cannot get up
to the top, so just avoid it. Everything else is rather plain, but make sure
to bring lots of Phoenix Downs. West- Riovanes Castle. East- Yardow Fort
    City.
    Rare Enemy Group: Samurai x7
    Guests: None

Can be quite difficult. I didnít find it as difficult as the Ninja battle in
    Araguay Woods though.

    =======================================================================
    DOGUOLA PASS
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Humans and Monsters
Map: If youíve played Tactics Ogre, you might notice that this map resembles
Lanbees Hill. It does, actually, as I can see. I never battle in this map,
itís kinda rough in the terrain section, and I seem to get into trouble with
the enemies, too. Oh well, see for yourself. West- Grog Hill. West- Grog
    Hill. East- Bervenia Free City.
Rare Enemy Group: Archer, Black Chocobo, Monk/Time Mage x3
    Guests: None

Not too hard either. Make sure you donít have all Monks or all Time Mages,
otherwise it could turn out into bloodshed.

    =======================================================================
    FINATH RIVER
    =======================================================================
Rare Battle: Pisco Demon and Behemoths
Map: I donít like this map as much as others. Thereís a Hugh Jass river
flowing in the middle, with a couple of islands in the middle, and the enemy
usually has the advantage (such as Walk on Water, Feather Boots, or simply
high ground). Most of the river is in the deepness level of 2, so it may
take awhile to cross the river without some sort of advantage over it. East-
    Zeltennia. West- Bervenia Free City.
Rare Enemy Group: Pisco Demon, Behemoth x5
    Guests: Goblin, Bull Demon x5

Just watch the fight. Behemoths may be stronger than Bull Demons, but due to
the fact that youíre present, you can help out the guests and win easily.
    You donít need to.

    =======================================================================
    BED DESERT
    =======================================================================
Rare Battle: Magic Users or Fighters
Map: This map is cool. It looks cool and plays cool. Itís mostly flat,
except for ďinsideĒ the ruins. If you start off inside, you can jump up and
position your long-range characters on the higher platforms, while the enemy
will make their way up to you. The sand just slows you down, and thereís no
reason why youíll need to spend your time on it unless youíre battling
someone. North- Bervenia Free City. South- Bethla Garrison.
    Rare Enemy Group: Knight/Archer, Summoner/Geomancer, Knight/Summoner,
    Archer/Geomancer x2
    Guests: None

No need for explanation here. Itís not too hard.

    =======================================================================
    GERMINAS PEAK
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Gunners
Map: This is one of the roughest maps in the game. The terrain is a bitch,
and the enemies you fight are no exception either. Thereís a big peak in the
middle, which is the center of all long-ranged users. Get someone up there.
Like I said in my story guide, the battles here are all about taking sides.
Keep that in mind, although it probably wonít help. North- Zarghidas Trade
    City. South- Poeskas Lake.
Rare Enemy Group: Chemist x3, Mediator x2
    Guests: None

This oneís a little messy. The enemies have the Stone/Blaze Guns equipped,
and theyíre petrified. Weird, huh? It can be a little tough, but if you have
Blade Grasp on your units, then thereís nothing to worry about. Hide behind
the peaks too, because thatís one of the only other defenses against guns
    besides Blade Grasp.

    =======================================================================
    POESKAS LAKE
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Behemoths
Map: The Lake is frozen, so you can walk on it anytime. The ďlandĒ area will
remind you of Bed Desert, with a plank sticking out onto the far right of
the lake. This map can be a little frustrating to navigate, especially when
you start off at the lake, since you have to climb up to the land. Thereís
nothing else to see here, either. South- Limberry. North- Germinas Peak.
Rare Enemy Group: Behemoth x3, Dark Behemoth x3, King Behemoth, Wizard
    Guests: None

This is one of the harder ones here. The behemoths arenít a huge threat, but
the Dark and King Behemoths are. The wizard also seems to have strong
    defense, attack, and evade.

    =======================================================================
    BERVENIA VOLCANO (Optional)
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: Chocobos and Ghosts
Map: There is no reason to go to this map. No reason at all (except for
maybe getting the Materia Blade for Cloud, but thatís it). You canít cross
lava unless you have Float on or have Walk on Lava equipped, which is
useless, since itís only helpful in this battle. If you donít have those
youíll be stuck on the island (the volcano is on the top left of the map).
Starting off at that end will give you an advantage of being able to get the
Materia Blade, but youíll need Jump +3 or Ignore Height. This map opens up
at the beginning of Chapter 4, serving as a shortcut to Zeklaus and Dorter.
South- Zeklaus Desert. North- Riovanes Castle.
Rare Enemy Group: Yellow Chocobo, Black Chocobo, Red Chocobo, Ghoul, Ghust
    Guests: None

Thereís nothing at all to see here. Move along.

    =======================================================================
    DOLBODAR SWAMP (Optional)
    =======================================================================
    Rare Battle: ?
Map: This is one of the most flat-out maps in the game. There are no hills,
no trees; basically you will find swampy areas and flat land. Itís much
reminiscent of Zodo Marsh and Bordo Lakeside from Tactics Ogre. Iím serious,
people. Yep, itís that flat. But then again, Iíve only fought here once.
This map opens up after you defeat Zalera at Limberry Castle, serving as a
shortcut to Bethla Garrison and Dorter. West- Bethla Garrison. East-
    Limberry Castle.
    Rare Enemy Group: ?
    Guests: ?

Havenít fought a rare battle here yet.
    =======================================================================

Below are some important things you might want to know:

    =======================================================================
    INVITE

The Mediatorís invite is quite a useful move, but it may be more useful than
you think. The 2 only ways to get the harder-to-get jobs in the game is to
get it the normal and hard way, or just invite them. Simple. Invite them
when you see them on a random battle, or even a plot battle. Learn many Talk
Skills from Mediators and set them as secondary abilities, then use them to
invite the enemies. This works well when you talk about Ninjas and
Calculators. Go to the rare Lenalia Plateau battle for Calculators and some
story battles have Ninjas in them. Invite has a low chance of invitation,
but it's worth it. The characters aren't generic, though, so if you're doing
the generic character contest up there, you can't use them. However, these
characters tend to have better stats since they're usually a couple of
levels higher than you and have better equipment.
    =======================================================================
    COUNTERATTACKING

Counterattacking... ah. Tactics Ogre had counterattacking everywhere, and it
reduced the length of some battles. FFT, however, does not have this. In
fact, there are only three abilities that will let you ďcounterattackĒ:

Counter Tackle: 180JP, learn from Squire. This is a weak Dash-type attacking
which does low damage and has a chance of pushing the target back one
square. Can be pretty useful. Almost every monster has this.

Counter: 300JP, learn from Monk. This attack is a basic counter from your
weapon, ala Tactics Ogreís auto-counter system. Itís quite useful for taking
out enemies such as knights and monks.

Hamedo: 1200JP, learn from Monk. This isnít really a counterattack, but itís
close. This will activate the character to attack the target that wants to
attack him/her. For example, if a knight wants to attack Ramza and Ramza has
Hamedo on, Ramza will attack the knight first. Plus, the target will NOT
attack after Hamedo is activated. This doesnít work on monsters.

So what are the chances of these counters to activate? Your Brave Level
decides it all. If you have 70 Brave, you have a 70% chance of
countering/Hamedo-ing the target. This means that all of the above abilities
are only useful to your more offensive teams.

Iíve heard on the FFT board that you can Hamedo a Jump attack from Notti. I
believe him, but I havenít verified this as of yet.
    =======================================================================
    HUMANS IN RANDOM BATTLES

As I said in the Invite section above, non-generic characters that are found
in random battles have better stats and equipment, because of the fact that
they're relatively higher levels than you. In Chapter 3, you can steal some
Rune Blades from some of the knights (I got one in Mandalia) or better yet,
invite the enemy with the good equipment and high levels. This usually works
when you're around level 40, however. The equipment is worth it though.
    =======================================================================
    CHOCOBOS

Chocobos are probably the most common monsters in the game, since almost
every random battle map has them. These chicken-birds can be wusses or
powerhouses, or just plain annoying. Yellow Chocobos are smart enough to use
Choco Cure on themselves to heal up, and will usually do it in groups of
other wounded monsters. Black Chocobos have low HP and other statuses, but
tremendous attack and magic power. Their Choco Ball can do 250+ HP on you in
Chapter 4! Red Chocobos are the best overall; their Choco Meteor has a 100%
chance of hitting ANYTHING. They have better statuses, too. A good way to
get Chocobos without Mediators is to save Boco the Chocobo in Araguay Woods
(Battle #12) in Chapter 2. If you keep him in your party, he will hatch many
eggs that can later turn out to be Black and Red Chocobos. When I played
through this game the first time, I kept two Red Chocobos in my party all
the time after the battle in the Slums of Goug (Battle #17). I advise you,
though, not to do that. Itís not a bad idea, but it doesnít make the game
easier in any way. Besides, I really sucked on my first time playing this
    game.
    =======================================================================
    KNIGHT SWORDS

There is no way to buy Knight Swords. You have to acquire, and the only
Chapter you can do this at is Chapter 4. You can steal, poach, or find them.
Or, you can un-equip Orlandu and Meliadoulís initially equipped Knight
Swords and put it on other units. More in the Weapons Section...
    =======================================================================
    TELEPORT

This skill allows you to increase your move range by a lot. You can move
almost anywhere on the map with this. However, if you try to move farther
than your regular move stat, you will tend to fail. Every square after that
decreases your success by 10%. For example:

       xxx
      xmmm
    xmmmm
    xmmmmc
    xmmmm
      xmmm
       xxx

Letís say ďCĒ represents the character with teleport, ďMĒ represents his/her
move range, and ďXĒ represents his extended range with Teleport. Anytime you
try to go to the X in the example, you have a 90% chance of getting there.
The next X nets you an 80% chance, and so forth.
    =======================================================================
    FALL DAMAGE

Your jump level calculates fall Damage. Like this:

    Fall Damage = ({[Distance Ė Jump] * 0.1} * Max HP)

    So, for example:

    Top = 16 (height level)
    Distance = 10 (bottom is 6)
Jump = 4 (characterís Jump Level is 4)
    Max HP = 156/156

    ({[10 Ė 4] * 0.1} * 156)
    (0.6 * 156)
    93.6 = Fall Damage

The fall would shave off 93-94 HP off of that character.

I am certain that formula is wrong, though.
    =======================================================================
    LANCER JUMP TIME

Lancer land down at the target at a random time. To calculate which time,
just look at the formula below:

    50/Lancer Speed rounded.

Any extra speed-increasing SPELLS wonít do anything, while speed-increasing
equipment (such as Sprint Shoes) will.
    =======================================================================
    WEATHER

The statistics below are probably incorrect, but bear with me. These occur
    in the outside only:

    Blue Background (Afternoon): No Change
Blue Background with Green Side (Grassy Areas): No Change
Blue Background with Yellow Side (Barren Areas): Maybe Fire?
    Light Gray Background: Wind Advantage?
Dark Gray Background (Night): Wind Advantage?
    Sprinkles: Water Advantage?
    Rainy Afternoon: Water Advantage?
Dark Gray Background with Rain: Water Advantage?
    Thunderstorms (any): Bolt Spells Advantage
    Sunset: No Change
    =======================================================================
    MATH SPELLS

Best spells to use along with Math: Fire, Fire 2, Fire 3, Bolt, Bolt 2, Bolt
3, Ice, Ice 2, Ice 3, Esuna, Cure 3, Demi, Doubt Faith, Raise, Regen,
Mbarrier, Innocent, Shell, Protect, Donít Act, Donít Move, Float, Haste,
    Slow, Yell, Cheer Up

    But thatís just my opinion.
    =======================================================================
    GROG HILL

An easy way to beat the story battle here is to move Mustadio up front and
attack. Keep resetting until the enemies bunch themselves up, then use Bolt
4 on them to kill them all or leave one or two standing with low HP.
