"Run sheep! Run!!"
Spyro the Dragon, a fun game if you enjoy exploration. It's fairly long, and contains plenty of treasure and the rescue of other dragons.
For those of you who care, here is the story. There are five dragon families, who lived on their five dragon worlds. Somewhere out in one of the worlds lived Gnasty Gnorc, an unpleasant smelly creature who despised the dragons. Above all else, he hated the jewels of the dragons, in which he could see the reflection of his face. He could have not looked at the jewels, but Gnorc doesn't work that way. Gnorc was eventually banished to a planet called Dragon junkyard. At once Gnorc renamed the planet Gnasty's World. While on that planet, Gnorc started practicing magic, trying to find a spell or two that would achieve his revenge on the dragons. Soon he found the spells he wanted. His first spell would trap all the dragons inside crystals, and his second spell was a potion that would transform the jewels into living Gnorc soldiers, willing to do his bidding. When Gnorc felt that he was ready, he launched his attack. All the dragons were crystallized. He turned all the jewels he could find into his soldiers. Well, most of them. He also hid many jewels. Once that was complete, he began transforming the dragon worlds into Gnorc worlds. Gnorc thought he had every dragon in a crystal, but he was wrong. Little Spyro had been playing hookey, and in doing so escaped the spell. So now Spyro is the only dragon capable of freeing the worlds, along with the help of his friend, the Sparx the Dragonfly. Spyro must travel to the five dragon worlds, and then Gnorc's world, freeing all the dragons, collecting all the treasure, and destroying anything that stands for Gnorc.
Here are some of the controls. To move or run, use the Directional Buttons or Left Analog Stick. To jump, press the X Button. The longer X is held down, the higher Spyro will jump. Control the direction in which Spyro jumps with the Directional Buttons or the Left Analog Stick. To flame, press the Circle Button. To charge, press the Square Button. Hold this down to keep charging. The Start Button will pause or resume the game. To find inventory, tap the Select Button. Now, while checking Inventory, press the Directional Buttons or Left Analog Stick either right or left to view everything collected. Here are the more advanced controls. Press the X button twice to glide. While Spyro is gliding, press the Triangle Button to drop down. To look around the screen, press the Triangle Button and the Directional Buttons or Left Analog Stick. To roll right or left, tap the R1 or L1 Buttons. To rotate the camera right or left, tap the R2 or L2 Buttons. Seem simple enough? Good. There are two different camera systems to choose from. Passive camera moves slowly. Active camera moves faster. For vibration, use a Dual Shock Analog Controller. This can be turned on and off.
Let's go on to what happens while the game is in progress. Sparx the Dragonfly follows Spyro around. Should Spyro be attacked by an enemy, Sparx will take the blast and will turn from his yellow color to blue, meaning he can take two more hits. Should he be hit again, Sparx will turn Green. After that, he's gone. If Spyro doesn't have Sparx around, one hit and Spyro is knocked out. If Sparx has low health, then find a small animal to destroy. Then the animal will release butterflies, which Sparx will consume. For every butterfly Sparx eats, he receives one point of health back. Of course, when he is still yellow, he just eats the butterflies, and, well, nothing happens. Anyway, let's get on with the bad guys. Some of them are equipped with shields, that resist flames. Spyro will have to charge them instead. But for a really large bad guy, flames are the only way to defeat them. Others can be defeated both ways, it's just common sense. Jewels are all over the levels. Defeat enemies to retrieve them, and find them locked in chests. They can also be found on the floor. Sparx helps in grabbing treasure. Sometimes a small thing in a blue cloak will appear. These guys are thieves that hold dragon eggs. Spyro must give chase to take back the eggs. When a dragon crystal is in sight, all Spyro has to do is walk up to it. The dragon will be freed. He'll tell Spyro a tip, and will be off. Sometimes Spyro will enter a Treasure Round, where he'll fly constantly collecting treasure in a fun secret level.
Off to the characters and the worlds. Spyro, obviously, is the main character. A clever dragon who enjoys having fun. Sparx is his dragonfly companion. The Artisans, of the Artisan world, are dragons who bring forth culture, songs, art and many other things. The Peace Keepers of the Peace Keeper world, are the strongest of all dragons. They call for order and a peaceful world. The Magic Crafters use magic to create artifacts. The Beast Makers bring all living creatures to life in their world. They create these animals from clay, roots and other minerals. Dream Weavers are active at night, and can travel into the dreams of other dragons, keeping away anything unpleasant. Gnasty Gnorc is the villain of this game, with an army of Gnorcs at his command.
Sound and graphics. Well, the sound of the characters was fine, and the music was a great thing for this game. The graphics were magnificent, and they never became boring.
So... all in all, this is a great game. I'd recommend purchasing this game instead of just renting it. It should be pretty cheap now.
