Review by SSJ Brandon

"Old School returns with a mew age twist."

Many gamers who have any recollection of the 80's most likely remembers the instant classic
Galaga. The game was so simple...But yet it had a special aura that to this day has yet to be
recaptured in a next generation video game...But it's Modern Day counterpart certainly tries to...

Gameplay:7/10
Now the gameplay is for the most part...Simple...Collect icons to repair your ship's damage...
Collect little merit badges to increase your ship's ability...And shoot every mother-loving thing
that moves...Simple right?Well...Yes...Sorta...One requirement for this game is extreme patience
and some real good thumbs...Cause you better be prepared to mash that x button like there's no
tommorow...And believe me...Your thumbs are gonna hurt...Really bad when your through playing.
Another requirment is that you really love to shoot thing...And i mean REALLY love to shoot things.
Cause the majority of the game has you doing just that. But on the other hand...You really have to
watch out...If your in the wrong place...At the wrong time...Your gonna get sucked up by the galaga
tractor beam ships...And this isnt so much of a problem in the overhead views and the side view
area's...But in the 3-d shooting levels...It's really annoying...About the views...
On one hand you have an old-school overhead view levels like the original galaga game...And you also
have side view levels. And finally you have levels with a 3-d behind the ship view reminiscent of starfox.

Sound:3/10
Oh god...Now this game is SERIOUSLY lacking in the sound department...
About the only memorable sound in the whole game is the new remixed version of the original
theme on the title screen...Besides your normal bleeps for the laser blast and the uninspired
enemy destroy sounds...You also have a bland constantly repeating song in the background
that does nothing to enhance the experiance of the game...Trust me on this...When your playing
this game...Keep your speakers off...And keep your cd player with a good cd on.

Graphics:7/10
Ok...Pretty good graphics for PS1...But the graphics get a little blocky every now and then...
The explosions are pretty so-so but they get the job done...I guess you cant expect seeing
a huge supernovic blast everytime an enemy is 86'ed...
Now the level designs get EXTREMELY repetitive...Each section of a level is nearly the same!
I mean...You'll be flying along...And be like...HEY!Didnt i see that rock structure three times already?!?!
Overall...The graphics...Are pretty average.

Replay Value:7/10
The game is very addictive...Ill give it that...But once you beat it...There really isnt much incentive
to play through it again...Unless your a score fanatic...
You'll be hooked...Hooked hopelessly...And because you cant save...Lose all your continues...
And it's back to Level 1...Even though i find that a little unforgiving...It's just another reason
to keep going back to play...But like i said...Beat it...And you probaly wont be going back...

Overall:7/10
Overall...I have to say i only reccomend this game to fans of the original...And to fans of shooting
games...Put simple...If you dont like shooting things...A LOT...Then you might want to pass on this one.
But if your a die-hard shooting bug who cant get enough of shooting aliens and other things of the such.
Then go for it!
