      This FAQ is about what each individual monster drops, and not how to get any
    particular item you're looking for.  If you like, use search/find (Ctrl+F) to
    see if the item you're looking for is dropped by any monsters, and pick the one
    monster you think it is easiest to get from.
      However, if you'd rather have a list of all the items, and the places you get
    them after, you'd be better to go to Albatross's site, where he translated some

      i.   Item Levels
    
      Monsters drop items.  We all know that.  But how do you know what items any
    given monster will drop?  It depends on a number of things, including Luck, the
    level of the monster, what kind of monster it is, and even whether you have a
    Polterbox with you.
    
      Every monster who drops items has eight different items it can drop, which
    includes the experience crystals and Lucre that can be dropped by enemies.
    However, some of these items can't be dropped until a monster reaches a certain
    base level.
    
      Item Level 1 through 4 are dropped at any level, while the other Item Levels
    require a certain monster base level.
    
      Item Level 5 requires the monster to have a base level of 16.
      Item Level 6 requires the monster to have a base level of 32.
      Item Level 7 requires the monster to have a base level of 48.
      Item Level 8 requires the monster to have a base level of 64.
    
      The first item that a monster can possibly drop has a 64/128 (50%) chance of
    being dropped.  The second item that a monster can drop has a 32/128 (25%)
    chance of being dropped.  The third item that a monster can drop will thus have
    a 16/128 (16.5%) chance of being dropped, and so on until the very last item
    that a monster can possibly drop, which simply gets the rest of the percentage
    chance.

      In order to get rarer drops easier, you can fight while with a Polterbox pet.
    The Polterbex has a unique Synchro ability called "Rare Item", which basically
    'nudges' the item chances down two levels.  This effectively guarantees you an
    item, since the first two Item Levels become unavailable - and these are almost
    always the experience crystals or Lucre.  In addition, rarer items can be found
    at lower levels, since the Rare Item Synchro counts the monster as having a
    higher Base Level than it should, for which items it can get.  Thus, the level
    requirements are as follows:
    
      Here is a chart for the drop chances for all Item Levels if you kill the
    enemy monster while you are in Synchro with a Polterbox.
    
      Item Level 1 through 6 are dropped at any level, while the other Item Levels
    require a certain monster base level.
    
      Item Level 7 requires the monster to have a base level of 16.
      Item Level 8 requires the monster to have a base level of 32.
    
      As you can see, you can get high Item Levels at very low levels, making the
    Polterbox one of the most sought-after pets in the entire game.

      There is one other way to get a different drop from enemies.  There is a very
    small chance that you will get a "Lucky Drop".  This Lucky Drop will occur
     (LUCK STAT / 255)% of the time.  When a Lucky Drop happens, the first two
    Item Levels will be skipped, and thus it will be the third Item Level to get
    the initial 64/128 (50%) chance.  This is very helpful for some Item Levels.
    However, getting a Lucky Drop with a Polterbox doesn't help at all - since the
    first two Item Levels are already skipped, nothing special happens.
      In addition, you can't really rely on a Lucky Drop to happen.  If you happen
    to maximize your Luck (to 85, with four +20 Luck equipments), you still only
    have a 1:3 chance of getting a Lucky Drop - the other 2:3 will be ordinary
    drops.  This generally gives you the same chances of getting items as with a
    Polterbox, except you have to fight one level group higher to have those
    chances!  Getting items using a Polterbox's Synchro is always far easier!
      This is just here for completeness' sake.  It does tip the scales slightly
    towards the rarer few items in each group.  While boosting Luck is helpful if
    you want some nicer items and are raising a non-Polterbox pet, you shouldn't
    try to raise your Luck when searching for a particular item.  Just grab your
    Polterbox and go for it there.

      Experience crystals are worth BASE_LVL experience if BASE_LVL is 10 or less,
    and ( ( BASE_LVL - 10 ) / 2 + 10 ) experience otherwise.  So a BASE_LVL 19
    monster would give out 14 experience per crystal, while a BASE_LVL 99 monster
    would give you 54 experience per crystal.

      iii. Determining Monster Levels
    
      It is fairly easy to determine a monster's level.  There is a formula for it,
    as seen here.
    
    
         Monster Level = BASE_LVL * ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8
    
    
      However, this requires some explaining.  First, you have to determine what
    BASE_LVL is equal to.  This value depends on the Land Strength of the Land you
    are at.
    
      Land Strength is a number which is equal to the Distance from Home plus the
    artifact number you used to place that Land.  This might be complicated.
    
      Let's use an example.  You place Home.  Home always has Land Strength 1,
    because it is 0 spaces from Home (it IS Home), and it is the first AF that you
    place.  Thus, it has a Land Strength of 0 + 1 = 1.
    
      Now, you get the AF Colorblocks and place Domina next to Home.  Domina is now
    one space from Home, and it is the second AF that you've placed.  Thus, it has
    a Land Strength of 1 + 2 = 3.
    
      Let's say you go and get the AF Wheel.  You place Luon Highway next to Home
    and now you can figure out its Land Strength.  It is one space from Home, and
    it is the third AF you've placed.  The Land Strength is 1 + 3 = 4.
    
      Okay, now that we know how to calculate Land Strength, we need to find out
    how to get BASE_LVL from it.  It's really quite easy.  You simply look at this
    chart, find your Land Strength in the LAND_LVL column, and move across and read
    the BASE_LVL column.

      Let's take a look at the formula again.
    
    
         Monster Level = BASE_LVL * ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8
    
    
      There are two more things here you don't know about.  They're fairly easy.
    
      ELE_STRONG refers to the total number of Element Points you have in the Land
    that the monster in question is strong against.  You can find out what elements
    any monster is weak to by looking in the Monster Encyclopedia.
    
      ELE_WEAKEN refers to the total number of Element Points you have in the Land
    that the monster in question is weak against.
    
      For example, if a monster is weak against Aura and Shade, and your Land has
    3 Aura and 2 Shade, ELE_STRONG will be equal to 5.
    
      However, there is a condition.
    
    IF: ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8    <   4 / 8
    
     THEN: ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8 =   4 / 8
    
    AND
    
    IF: ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8    >  10 / 8
    
     THEN: ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8 =  10 / 8
    
      Basically, the multiplier will always be between 1/2 and 5/4.
    
      Here is the formula one last time:
    
    
         Monster Level = BASE_LVL * ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8
    
    
      It is time for an example.  Let's say you have placed the Luon Highway, and
    its Land Strength is 8.  That means, looking at the charts above, that our
    BASE_LVL is equal to 10.
      We are fighting a Chocobo, which are STRONG against Wisp and Jinn, and
    WEAKENed by Shade and Gnome.  Let's say that Luon Highway has 2 Jinn, 1 Gnome,
    and 3 Wisp.
    
     ( ELE_STRONG - ELE_WEAKEN + 8 ) / 8  =  ( 5 - 1 + 8 ) / 8  =  ( 12 / 8 )
    
      Since this is above ( 10 / 8 ), we make it ( 10 / 8 ).  So,
    
        Monster Level = 10 * ( 10 / 8 ) = 12.5
    
      Remember to round down, and we find that our Chocobo enemy is at Level 12!

      Nightmare Mode and No Future Mode notes:
    
      Higher difficulty modes make monsters a higher level, but it doesn't seem to
    be any particular level increase, does it?  Well, it's quite simple.  Both
    affect your LAND_LVL (in the charts above) for the purposes of determining the
    BASE_LVL of enemy monsters.
    
      Nightmare Mode: LAND_LVL raises by 20.
      No Future Mode: LAND_LVL is set to 63.
    
      Since LAND_LVL is 63, BASE_LVL is 99, making most monsters at level 99.  Only
    monsters with more weaknesses present in the Land's elements will be a lower
    level, up to a minumum of 49 (half of 99).
