"Finally, a good platformer"
The Spyro Series has been acclaimed as one of the greatest 3D platformers on the psx. Maybe even better than Crash. Well, the first Spyro was so-so, the second one was great, and Spyro 3 is the best platformer of the series, and on the psx.
Once again, Spyro moves pretty smooth, with just a little bit of trouble. He will also react to your commands right away, and follow your fingers perfectly. The main gripe is that sometimes he won't react right away, resulting in some cheap deaths. And, sometimes, after you die, he will come back and start walking in a circle, and he won't follow your commands until you switch off analog.
This game has variety galore. Instead of getting the orbs, there are 150 eggs to get, and there is a super bonus world at the end. The tasks can be anywhere from shooting down dragons to going skateboarding on one of the 3 courses, and from Tank Driving to destroying fortresses. There are also more characters to take control of, including Bentley the Yeti, Sgt. John Byrd, and even Sparx. See what I mean? Variety Galore!
Well, I would give it less, but hey, it is for a kids game, ain't it? The story is: Every 12 years, the Year Of The Dragon fest comes, and all the Dragon Eggs come to life. But, an evil sorceress and her apprentice have stolen all of them, and it's up to spyro and hunter to stop them! Pretty good, for a kids game.
Replay Value: 9/10
After the battle, you will want to keep playing to get to the secret bonus worlds! You have to get each and every gem and egg, including the ones moneybags has, to get in. When doing this, you will have one last chance to defeat the sorceress again! With this to go on, there is plenty to replay for!
How can this game NOT be fun? It has variety galore, as I mentioned before, and everyone will like it! Another thing is that they are so damn addictive!
These are some of the finest you can find on the playstation! There are of course the occaisional jaggies, but that can be expected. Othe than those, there are virtually NO flaws in the graphics, unlike the infamous Spyro 2 tricks where you could fly out of the Summer Forest Homeworld and swim outside of the pool in Breeze Harbor.
Finally. A decent psx 3D platformer that everyone will like.
