Review by Rickthetamer
"One of the best Spyro games yet, but it lacks something."
One of the only things this game is bad at . . . controls. They are fairly understandable, but the camera angles just get you down. To turn the camera the way you want it you have to go out of your way and . . . oh, forget it.
Sound and Music: 9/10
Wow. The music in the game is mostly great. There are some odd parts where they throw in some sound effects and percussion, but most of it works out for the best. There is great music, especially in some levels where they just make it SO creative! The voice actors are great. Bianca, and some of the minor characters like Bentley's little brother, have great V.A.'s. This is one of the best parts of the game.
Is it worth it?: 8.5/10
You betcha. The great variety of controls is awesome, you can play as different characters with great capabilities. You don't buy the game expecting to be able to shoot a laser gun, swing a club, release rockets, or stomp rhynocs with size 36E feet, but hey, you get it anyway.
Annoyance Factor: Low to Middling
There are some challenges that are just too frustrating, some jumps that you just can't leap, and a few times you just can't' get it. But you get over it pretty fast. The camera angle comes into play again right here, making scenes where you need to act fast a pain in the tail. The bosses are a bit of a pain. The first one is a cinch (How do you spell that word?), but after that, they get cheap moves and you get wimpy tools.
Final Grade: 8/10
Not the best thing since sliced bread, but great for any young player or experienced fan. There are a bunch of levels, around three worlds. The cutscenes with the characters are great. The bad guy is a bit disapointing, but you get to fight her in a fun way. Watching Moneybags get beat up all the time is always funny, and there's just an ingenuity that you have to love. It's pretty hard to get 100% (even I can't get more than 95%), but I encourage everyone to try. Who thought of that Matrix scene with Gretel? Just amazingly fun.
Bottom Line: Try it or buy it. Just play it.
