I. GAME CONTROLS
=================

If you really want to unleash the full potential of your team, then you must
first know how to control and manipulate them in a way which will surprise
the opposing team. And to help you with this enormous task, I will list down
the necessary controls for you to master.

key:
<,>,^,v = directional buttons
0 = circle
X = cross
[] = square
/_\ = triangle
L1 = left shoulder button 1
L2 = left shoulder button 2
R1 = right shoulder button 1
R2 = right shoulder button 2

----------------------------------
II.A.OFFENSIVE PLAYER WITH THE BALL
----------------------------------

<,>,^,v = move player
0 = shoot ball/ attempt free throw
Tap 0 = pump fake
X = Pass ball
X + < or > or ^ or v = pass ball in a specific direction
0 then X = Jump pass
L1 + L2 = Alley - oop (personal favorite :D)
/_\ = Special dribble
[] = Pivot to protect the ball
hold [] = back down dribble/ post-up
R1 = speed burst (as the name implies, makes you faster)
R2 = Screen (closest man to you will screen you)
L1 + < or > or ^ or v = On-The-Fly calling(more about this later on)
L2 + < or > or ^ or v or R2 = Total control passing(more on this too, later)
Start button = pause the game (when you need to pee,eat, shower..etc)

-------------------------------------
II.B.OFFENSIVE PLAYER WITHOUT THE BALL
-------------------------------------

<,>,^,v = move player

R1 = speed burst
R2 = box-out(clear out)
L1 + < or > or ^ or v = On-The-Fly calling
L2 + < or > or ^ or v or R2 = Total control switching
Start button = pause the game

-----------------------
II.C. CPU Player Control
-----------------------

0 = Force CPU player to shoot
X = Force CPU player to pass

Yep, that's right they aint got no choice but to obey you ;)

=================================
III. THE WORKS (playing the game)
=================================

-----------------------------
III.A. TOTAL CONTROL SWITCHING
-----------------------------

Now what is this total control switching you ask? Basically this allows you
to switch control of a player to any of your teammates. On defense, you can
do this everytime, meaning you can switch to a player who's guarding the
opposing player who's about to shoot etc. But then, when you are on offense,
this could only be done IF the player your currently controlling DOESN'T have
the ball.

---------------------------
III.B. TOTAL CONTROL PASSING
---------------------------

As the name inplies, this feature allows you to take total control on when,
where and to whom you want to pass the ball. All you got to do is hold the L2
button and voila, passing icons will be shown above each player's head. To
pass the ball, just press the icon button corresponding to the one on your
teammates head. But, if for some reason, you just dont like having total
control passing, you can still control the pass' direction by pressing X and
the directional button of your choice.

-----------------------------
III.C. ON-THE-FLY PLAY CALLING
-----------------------------

With this thing on your arsenal, total court domination is very possible. By
using this, you can make a bunch of different "play calls" as the game pro-
gresses. What you do is Hold the L1 button to bring up the play-calling screen
(this works on both defense and offense by the way).

On offense, you got a choice of plays to set and run, based on your choice.
So let's say you chose the play "pick n roll". By so doing, your teammates
will position themselves for you to execute the said play. Very, very nifty if
I say so myself.

On defense, it's basically the same thing, the only difference is that you
are using the defensive game plan of your team.

And also, you can set your offensive gameplan and your defensive capabilities
and also the defensive match-ups using the team strategy option from the pause
menu. By doing this, you will be a world-champ material in no time.

------------------------
III.D. CPU PLAYER CONTROL
------------------------

When you are in a multi-player game or when you are using the Player lock
function(more later), when the ball is in the hands of a CPU controlled player
you can force that player to pass the ball or shoot it, depending on your
preference.

-----------------
III.E. HOW TO SHOOT
-----------------

This is one of the most important skill if you want your team to be of
championship-caliber. You need to know how to shoot properly. There are three
types of shooting skills you need to master and these are.

Normal Gameplay shooting
------------------------

This is just basically the time you shoot during the course of the game where
in your team is on the offensive side.

Touch Shooting
--------------
Same thing as normal gameplay shooting, but the difference is that with touch
shooting, you will be using a shot meter to help or should I say guide you
with the shooting touches of your team members. When your player shoots the
ball, a shot meter will appear on the screen. To be able to get the best
possible chance of sinking the shot, hold 0 to start the shot, then release
when the gauge of the meter reaches the green region. With timing and practice
you will be able to make one shot after another without too much hassles. So
good luck with that.

***One more information that you need to remember about touch shooting.If the
green region didn't appear when you attempt a shot, that means your player is
out of it's range, meaning he isn't really the "go-to-guy" on that particular
range/shot skill level.

Free Throw Shooting
-------------------

Yep. This thing is also important too. As the game progresses, your opponents
will sometimes hit your players hard, resulting in a foul. And if that happens
in a certain number of times, they will be in penalty and every succeding time
they "foul", one of your players will eventually have to take this shots.

A player will attempt a shot at the foul line, or commonly known as "stripe".
This time, you don't have a shot meter but a goal where 2 basketball will be
moving in the center of it. The objective is stop these basketballs close
enough, if not right smack in the middle of the goal. And if you are success-
ful, you will make the free throw shot. If not, then you need practice.

***The speed of the movement of the balls(no pun intended) is based on the
players ability to shoot free throws. If he "suck", the movement of the ball
is faster. But if he is good at shooting free throws, the slower it will be.
Translation: The better the ability, the slower the movement will be through
the accuracy region(goal).

------------------
III.F. USER RECORDS
------------------

User records allow you, the boss, to keep track of the stats for each game
your team played. You can create up to ten user names(plenty enough) that can
be assigned at the team select screen. When you have accumulated player and
team statistics, view the user stats associated with each player at the com
pletion of your games.

***EDIT USERS

-Press <,>,^,v to select a user number
-Press X to edit a name
-Press < or > to highlight a letter, then press ^ or V to choose a different
letter.
-Press X after you finished editing.
-Continue process if you wish, you can create up to 10
-If you want to delete a user name, select the name and press 0.Press either
^ or V to select YES, then X to confirm the delete.
-Press /_\ when you are finished.

-------------------------
III.G. HOW TO SELECT TEAMS
-------------------------

ROSTERS
-------

For each game, you have the option to play with the 2003-2004 season's roster
or use a current roster which you altered by trading or releasing players,
signing free agents, adding created player, or holding a draft,whatever you
think is best and/or suits your needs.

To make a roster selection, press < or > to choose a roster. From this screen,
press [] to move the rosters menu to make additional changes to any league
roster.

PLAYER LOCK
-----------

Using the player lock function allows you to lock onto one player, making him
the only player you will control the whole game. Example, if you wanna use
Vince Carter of the Toronto Raptors for the whole game, rather than always
controlling the player with the ball, set your controller to lock on to his
player position. After selecting a team for your controller, press [] to cycle
through and choose a player lock position. If you dont want this, select "NO
LOCK" and you will always be in control of the player with the ball.

USER LOGIN
----------

This is where the edit users comes into play. After selecting a team for your
controller, press 0 to cycle through your available user names and assign one
for your team.

IV.MODES
========

---------------
IV.A.EXHIBITION
---------------

Exhibitons games are one format for matching up any two teams you want from
the NBA. Unlike season games, results of this games are not recorded, and is
therefore important because you can use this to practice your skills as a
master NBA tactician :D.

-----------
IV.B.SEASON
-----------

Seasons are multiple game formats that cna be setup to include 28,56 or 82
games. At the end of the season, if your team qualifies, you'll enter the
playoffs(yay!) and compete for the NBA chanmpinoship(sweet). During a season
reports and statisctics are complied to give you an in-depth info about your
players and as a whole team.

--------------
IV.C PLAY-OFFS
--------------

The playoffs consists of the eastern and western conference brackets, just
like the real deal. Each one is made up of top eight teams from each confe-
rence.Your goal is to win this so you can go and grab that championship
trophy!

============
V.GAME RULES
============

The following are some of the key options and rules that you can use to custom
-ize your game. Feel free to bend this anyway you want ;)

--------------
V.A.DIFFICULTY
--------------

this will determine the player's offensive and defensive capabilities.

-----------
V.B.FATIGUE
-----------

Just like in real life, players get tired as they play. But unlike real life,
you have the power to not let the players feel this. turn this option OFF and
voila, your players will keep on playing and remain fresh all throughout.

----------------
V.C.CLOSE SCORES
----------------

The CPU can force the games to be close by enabling teams to go on a scoring
run. The irony is if you lost by allowing this option, but it makes it more
challenging. Use at your own risk.

----------------
V.D.FOULS CALLED
----------------

You can set the frequency of the referees making foul calls during the game.
Set it to Low and the calls are limited, but if you crank it up on high,
referees will have a nice time blowing their whistles. You can also set it to
none so you can foul infinitely, even if you do it deliberately ;)

-------------
V.E. FOUL OUT
-------------

If its set to a certain number, that's the number of fouls a player can commit
before eing thrown out of the game or what is called foul-out. turn it off
and you can foul indefiniely without getting fouled-out.

---------------
V.F. BACK COURT
---------------

This occurs when a player brings the ball back over the center court after
it has been crossed. Turn this off so you can do this without commiting a
turn-over.

------------------
V.G. OUT OF BOUNDS
------------------

Once the ball is in play and your player step out of the court's bound, you
will be called for an infraction.

----------------
V.H. 3 SEC CLOCK
----------------

Offensive players are only allowed to be in the key for a total of three
seconds only.

----------------
V.I. 5 SEC CLOCK
----------------

The ball must be inbounded within five seconds to avoid a turn-over.

---------------
V.J.8 SEC CLOCK
---------------

The ball must get past midcourt within eight seconds of being inbounded to
avoid a turnover(again :D)

---------------
V.K. SHOT CLOCK
---------------

Each team has 24 seconds to make a shot and make contact with the rim. If the
team is unable to do so, it will be a turn-over.
