  Hi everybody !

  After having tried to make a guide for such fighting game like Evil
Zone, I have realized that to make guide for this genre is not very
hard. And I think those who play fighting games all can make a guide for
it. But Dead or Alive 2 is not like Evil Zone : Evil Zone is a fighting
game which is very simple that all characters have the same styles and
combinations. Only one FAQ is enough. But Dead or Alive 2 is traditional
fighting game where each character acts with their own style and skill.
Combinations of each one are completely different too. That's the reason
why this game needs guides for definite characters. A FAQ for all will
be confusing and unnecessary.

  About me, I guess I should continue and open my ability to try again
with Dead or Alive 2 : Hardcore, the tough guy Ein - Hayate, a major
character of Dead or Alive series. He is not my best favourite, but one
of those. He a bit sucks to play, but if you get used to him, it will
not be very hard.

 * WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STAGES FOR SINGLE AND TAG BATTLES ?
 - Stages for Single Battles can be various, whatever traps and floors
 don't matter.
 - Stages for Tag Battle don't have floors. Its design must be done
 somehow that the fighter can stand at a position and dash in to help
 the partner. All stages for Tag Battle have upper edges for the going-
 out fighter to wait for turns.

  I have decided to make this guide for the guy called Ein only in DOA2
Hardcore. Let's begin with his background.

  MARTIAL ART : Karate

  WEIGHT : 165 pounds

  OCCUPATION : Karate Instructor
  BACKGROUND : He was left to die in the esoteric Black Forest of
Germany. Even though he suffered amnesia, his deep desire to fight
stayed intact with his beaten body. He mastered Karate in a very short
period. He hopes to find answers to his life time search of self-
discovery through participation in the "Dead or Alive World Combat
Championship".

  *SPOILER* THE TRUTH ABOUT EIN
  Ein's real name is Hayate, aka Kasumi's lost brother. He has been lost
in the hunting in the Black Forest, leaving his sister. Kasumi has tried
to find him. But nothing about him had been found since then. Hayate
himself is a shinobi whose original martial art is also Ninjutsu, like
Kasumi, Ryu Hayabusa or Ayane. In DOA3, he seems to return to himself.

  *WHAT IS KARATE ?*

  Ein's martial art is Karate, which the fighters blow more than
throwing. According to my friends who are learning Karate, it's a heavy
blowing martial art that require much of fighters' practice and
strength. Of course, you must regularly practise to have strength :
Practise with your kick, punch and combos. But because it's a heavy
blowing martial art, girls rarely like this technique.

  (Hehehe... it's not true in game world. In DOA3, you'll have the
Germanian girl Hitomi who is a fighter of Karate. And if you have read
book series Detective Conan, you'll see Ran Mori is also a great Karate
girl.)

| These are the combos born from the basic attacks. They are made from |
| many single hits and cause big damage on the opponent. Beside, you   |
| must know how to combine with directional buttons, which can give    |
| birth to other different combos. Some of these skills are very useful|
| in battle. You can use them to make the opponent lose more HP, stop  |
| their sequence or even stun them to make chances. They might be the  |
| most attacks you can easily use to fight. So practice them as much as|

|  fighting : Throws. Throwing means capturing or blocking : You catch |
|  the opponent in your control, then cause damage on them. Throwing   |
|  damage is indefinite, depending on your hits and how long you can   |
|  block the opponent. Throw combos can make big damage: Your opponent |
|  is still captured and you can continue damage them, until the throw |
|  really comes to end. But it's a disadvantage that Ein doesn't have  |
|  any combo throws.                                                   |

| This is a combination between defense and offense. You protect       |
| yourself from being hit, damaging the opponent at the same time. This|
| defense is very useful, but hard to do. You must be correct to read  |

  You DOA2 long-time players all know in each character's Story Mode,
there'll be Absolute Characters and Random Characters.

  * Absolutes Characters are the enemies who relate to or have major
roles on the one you chose. You always meet them every time you play
Story Mode as Ein.
  * Random Characters are the others who appear to build up your
challenges. You can face them or not randomly.

  Here I just want to notice you a few about Ein's Absolute characters :

  2ND STAGE : RYU HAYABUSA
  Ryu Hayabusa is a very close friend of Ein-Hayate. He promised Hayate
to protect Kasumi, as her brother was supposed to be dead. At the
beginning of battle, Ryu has nearly recognized Ein to be Hayate, but Ein
didn't know Ryu and defeated him. After the battle, some strange memory
suddenly returns to Ein's mind.

  4TH STAGE : HELENA DOUGLAS
  Hm... I really can't understand what Helena means. Maybe she knows
about the incident that happened to Ein-Hayate. But now she just wants
to FIGHT !!!

  5TH STAGE : AYANE
  Ayane is Kasumi's half sister. Ayane joins the tournament in order to
defeat Kasumi, but in fact she admires Hayate who is currently Ein. Like
Ryu Hayabusa, she recognizes Ein at first, but he couldn't. Maybe Ayane
is also a small part in Ein's mind to help him get back himself.

  6TH STAGE : KASUMI
  Now it's time for family reunity. Kasumi has recognized Ein as her
brother Hayate, but Ein still doubts. After the fight, it seems that all
of Hayate's memory is got back, he holds Kasumi in his arms.

  7TH STAGE : TENGU
  Of course, your final boss and no need to say. You can't get out of
tournament without beating up this chubby guy.

  These strategies include all modes and all difficulties of Ein. They
can be used for Tag Team or Team Battle, when you are in single state.
Remember, try to use the WALLS and ELECTRIFIED WALLS as your friends,
and don't let them kill you.

| GENERAL STRATEGY   \

|  Ein is better at hit sequences than throwing or holding. So then    |
|  you should remember some of his strong skills to get in battles. I  |
|  recommend you some useful but easy skills to execute like Renpujin, |
|  Shien, Shorin and Tsukigeri. If you can bear harder skills, use     |
|  Renken and the next ones which are similar to it.                   |
|  Your enemies can be stunned when you inflict an unique strong hit   |
|  or a sudden hit. About Ein, Tsubauchi can stun your enemy in a      |
|  limited time.                                                       |
|  Once your enemy is stunned, your next step is using a strong hit to |
|  cause a Hi Counter. Sequences are always the best. But if you don't |
|  remember any sequence, or you don't want to be Counter Holded by    |
|  the enemy, so a single hit will be safer. For Ein, he has Azuma and |
|  Fujin which are very strong single punches, mainly in Hi Counter    |
|  state.                                                              |
|  Those are what I want to tell you about using Ein. They are also my |
|  own experience. In process, you can create some own ways for        |

  She is the best character, but also the strongest rival of all - most
terrible nightmare of all nightmares. She is extremely fast, loves to
play the E.Fujin or some other similar skills, then finished with the
Genmu. She deserves to be the name "Tengu Woman" as people call her. At
first, keep the Defend button and always move around to dodgeand defend
her hits. Then choose a chance to beat her, when she doesn't defend. But
if you realize that she is in defend state while you are attacking, STOP
beating ASAP, or you may get a Hi Counter Hold. As Ayane is a physically
hitting character, you can trust into your holds to conquer her. Hold
her once she beats you. The only problem is that to determine her
direction. But if you try, you'll be able to do that. Change your attack
directions continually is always a point, if you are a crazy attacker.

  This big guy doesn't have many combos, but his hits are pretty strong
and hard to conquer. You don't have to worry much about him. But
remember to hold when you can read his attacks. He's pretty slow, and as
the agressive Ein, I think you can catch a chance to throw Bass anyway.
A strong throw will be more effective. The most dangerous hit of Bass
(or Tina) is the Combo Throws. They are long which cause an extremely
big damage. Once you are blocked by him, remember to press the Throw
button continually. Sometimes Ein can dash out of the throw, and you
continue the battle til the end.

my experience, I can hold his punch more easily with holding the others.

regular attacks are not good at her, as she can sit (Bokuho) to avoid
your hits. But also be careful with low attacks. Helena extremely loves
holding and she is the queen of Hi Counter Hold. The only way for this
suck Pi Qua Quan is getting rare chances. Helena can't always sit. When
she stands up is a good chance. But also be careful with her Kansui or
Hanba, which are hardly to hold. Helena often attacks in sudden, that's
a disadvantage for you. Try to use as many as chances to beat and hold
her.

only way is to cast all of your best skills. Always be careful when she
defends. Stop beating at that time and try to throw. But sometimes
Kasumi is fast enough to touch you when you're just slower for a second.
When being hit, defend ASAP and choose a moment to counter by holding.
Kasumi's directions are pretty various and changeable, you should have
some times practicing with her first before getting in real Modes, if
you want to unlock secrets. My last words : Do your best and be careful.

can't always defend, at when she hits you may be good, if you get used

just try to deceive him into wall or eletricity. This is pretty
desperate for you, but that's the best way for you now. I have defeated
him several times by this way when my HP is just a small point. Like
Jann Lee, your little mistake may spoil everything.

rely on the air and hard to hold. But Ryu himself is not a dangerous
rival. He doesn't often hold, he attacks more than throwing or holding.
So then it's not worried too much for you to play physical hits with
him. Just perform your usual attacks, but of course, defend yourself as
well. Ryu doesn't execute throwing and holding much, but that DOES NOT
mean he never uses them, especially his flying Izuna can cause a great
damage and there's no way to avoid once you are caught.

  If you have taken control of Tengu, you'll know that he has nothing

becomes extremely annoying. Tengu loves throwing, especially holding
very much. First, he moves around you for a while. Then he can play a
sudden throw or some sequences. The biggest problem is that HE HOLDS
VERY CORRECTLY. He can catch you rightly at your first hit without being
hit. To defeat this tough boss, you should defend at first. Sometimes he
must also raises himself. He often plays a somesault kick. If you are
fast enough, kick him at that time. Your kick will stop his somesault,
then play your next sequence. If not, just defend until he finishes the
somesault kick. It's also a good choice for you to corner him to wall.
But be careful with his throwing. You must be very fast when deciding to
throw, because your little being slower can make you lose the moment,
and then Tengu will be the thrower, not you. When you corner him to
wall, just try to beat as usual until you wipe his HP. Of course he
cannot let you do that easily. But the wall will be your supporter now.
Kaei throw next to wall will be very useful now. If you can do it in Hi
Counter, it may finish your battle up.

Once you are caught, press Throw button to avoid as soon as possible.
Ein is a character of sequences, so Tina is not your rival. Just choose
the moment when she is out of defense, and play next to next.

remember to keep a safe distance. Zack's sequences can make you go mad
and lose your temper easily.

  B.  EIN'S SURVIVAL MODE
*******************************************

  Well, playing Ein in Survival Mode is a little suck. Ein is not good
at throwing, so you mainly trust into his fists. The first five
opponents might be so easy, and I think you can defeat them with all
your favourite skills. But the next ones will be really your nightmares.
They act like expert fighters in Normal Mode or Hard Mode. You can be
easilt held without being told a word. So now fists are not enough. Get
your defense to be your main supporter. Defend and move around until you
feel really safe. Then cast your attacks when the opponent doesn't
prompt to read you. When the opponents defend, stop beating and try to
throw as soon as possible. Pay attention to their position if they
crouch or stand. If you can, cast your most fatal attacks or throw at
them. If you are beaten, try to hold immediately. Your hold might finish
the battle quickly if you are in Danger Reach.

  Anyway, always remember NOT to let yourself become the victim of being
hit by Danger Reach. It can wipe your HP very fast.

  9.   E I N ' S  T A G  T E A M  M O D E

  Tag Team is really new and interesting in DOA series. You fight with a
partner to create greater sequences and double attacks. Ein is also a
good teg member. To tell you clearly about this, I want to explain about
this section. I divide into three types of Tag Teams :

  EIN'S COMPLETE TAG TEAM : Ein can use his Kagura with his partner and
so can his partner with his/her main tag team attack
(Forward,Forward,F+P+K).

  EIN'S HALF-COMPLETE TAG TEAM : Either Ein or his partner can use
his/her main tag team attack.

  EIN'S NON-COMPLETE TAG TEAM : Neither of them can combine with each
other, besides using "partners make attacks".

  Let me give the most frequent example : Ein <> Ayane. In this mode,
you must fight five stages to get through this challenge. These are the
strategies for them.

  KASUMI <> RYU      | This is also a great couple. Kasumi has fast and

                     | battlefield with his air performances. I think
                     | that killing Hayabusa is pretty easier than with
                     | Kasumi. But anyway, you must defeat all of them.
                     | Combine the single strategies of Kasumi and Ryu.
                     | It's better for you to kill one of them before
                     | they can execute tag team attack. You'll be taken
                     | a mess of punches if you let both of them alive
                     | for a while.
                     | Have Ein attack first, then use Ayane when
                     | necessary. When you call your partner, try to do
                     | the tag team attack that you can summon your
                     | partner and damage the enemy at the same time.

  TINA <> BASS       | This is a terrible family couple. Tina and Bass

                     | punches and kicks, so use them quickly to stop
                     | either Tina or Bass to summon their partner. Then
                     | continue your next favourite hits. Just use Ayane
                     | when necessary. Like Ein, Ayane is VERY good at
                     | her martial art and you can trust her fatal skill
                     | to defeat this couple.

  GEN FU <> HELENA   | A "Bokuho" couple. I think it's better to kill

                     | pretty short but skilful. It's hard for you to
                     | reach him, but try to use low attacks with him
                     | hold as much as you can. Then defeat Helena
                     | later. Try to save Ayane until Ein is out.
                     | Ayane's fast speed is the opposite of Helena's
                     | balance. The E.Fujin and the finishing Genmu can
                     | be useful now.

LEI-FANG <> JANN LEE | This is really a deadly couple. Lei is very

                     | which one need be knocked first. But if you can,
                     | defeat Lei-Fang first of all. Her graceful hits
                     | will annoy you like crazy, but at least she is
                     | easier to beat then Jann Lee. Use the single
                     | strategy with her, then come to Jann Lee. As
                     | usual, save Ayane til the end of battle. Ein is
                     | pretty suitable with Lei-Fang, and Ayane can be
                     | used against Jann Lee.

                     | And Zack, he can prevent you with his quick
                     | attacks. Maybe Zack is more needed. Ein is not
                     | very good at them, so throwing or holding is
                     | your best choice now. Try to cause as much as
                     | damage you can, until Ein is out. Then try to
                     | control Ayane to handle the rest. Ayane's fast
                     | and fatal skills may be better than Ein's hits. I
                     | confirm this is a hard battle, you must be very
                     | careful.

 1. Kasumi is my best favourite - most using character. Her skills are
Mugen Tenshin Ninjutsu. She is fast and graceful. Kasumi can execute
smooth and beautiful sequences which cause big damage on any opponents.
She is easy to control, and her attacks are terrific. Besides, Kasumi
herself is honest and gentle. She is sefless with the enemies and she
rarely seems to be arrogant about his great skills and fame. Kasumi is a
perfect character of all.

 2. Ayane is my most using character, NOT my favourite. Yes, she
deserves to be the "Woman Tengu" as people call her, to imply her fatal
and deadly attacks. But Ayane is not the most perfect. She seems like a
villain more than a real heroine. I feel she is more terrible than even
Tengu. Just because the jealous thought of her half sister Kasumi's
fame, Ayane pursues her and then treats her in ruthlessness. If there's
no answer about the reason why Ayane wanted to kill Helena, I'll
consider Ayane to be my most hated character. The death of Helena's
mother is also a reason taking Helena to evil. Cruel Ayane !!!

 3. The third place is for two men : Ein-Hayate and Ryu Hayabusa. These
two men are very close friends. I feel that both of them have good sense
and concern to each other. Ryu Hayabusa has tried to protect Hayate's
sister when he had gone. And Ein-Hayate, he tries all his effort to get
back himself as soon as possible. At this time, maybe I can't understand
much about Ein. But Ryu is a nice guy, so I think he should have a nice
fellow. In battle, Hayabusa is remarkable at his air hits, and Ein-
Hayate is tough at his heavy Karate touches. But maybe he would be more
skilful with his original Ninjutsu in DOA3. I hope to play that game,
that I can find out more about my favourite characters.

                 | - Battle systems are various and terrific. Combos and
                 | skills are different and awesome at each character.
                 | - There is variety of modes which are useful for
                 | players to enjoy the game with all excitement.
                 | - Gameplay is very high. There are a lot of secrets
                 |  hidden in the game.
                 | - Difficulties are appreciate for all players. Not so
                 | easy but no so hard.
