FAQs VII. Contact Me VIII. Credits, Copyright I. VERSION HISTORY ============================================================================== 1.0- First version. 2.0- I fixed a few of the bugs. Apparently this glitch is even more complicated than I thought. 3.0- I've broken it down by adding another sub section, and I'm still fixing the requirements for how to activate it. Sadly, I'm still working on side effects. 4.0- Yet another update on how to activate. I've added a FAQ section to the guide, and I FINALLY HAVE SOME SIDE EFFECTS. 5.0- I've figured out what editions can play it, and I've worked all the bugs I can 6.0-more side effects 7.0- added that you do not need to fight ifrit, and I added the 'official' copyright. 8.0- European version IS NOT compatible 9.0- new email FINAL- last minute stuff II. OVERVIEW ============================================================================== The glitch that I refer to as the 'new game+' glitch is something that is a fairly new discovery. It is only accessible in the International versions, and it seems that if you have any version but the Japan or Indonesian one, it WILL NOT work. This means that European versions can't do it. This new glitch allows for you to finish the game, and to go back to the halfway point and do it again with your current stats, very similar to the New Game+ option that Square used in Chrono Trigger. III. GETTING THERE ============================================================================== As I said, this is only accessible by using the International version, and only the Japan and Indonesian ones work. International is evident because it includes Dark Aeons. It involves beating a dark aeon with over 1 million HP, so I would recommend that you're relatively strong, but it has been done in NSG, so there are no actual requirements. Once you have the airship, travel back to Bikanel Island, and travel back to Al Bhed home. You will meet an Al Bhed woman, and she will summon Dark Ifrit. You DO NOT have to fight Dark Ifrit, but since the summoner is in your path, I will write the strategy. <taken from the boss FAQ by FFXmania> Dark Ifrit: HP 1400000 MP 999 Location: Entrance of "Home". Talk to the Al Bhed lady. This angry looking guy is quite easy. You may need auto-phoenix on all three members armor(but not necessary). Ifrit will do 99999 damage with a regular attack which can be halve by casting protect. I think there no point doing so. Just let him kill you & revive your members to avoid unnecessary trouble. Having one members with auto-phoenix is enough. Have all your members quick hit Ifrit. You can try ultima but its a waste of turns to me. Now keep quick hitting Ifrit & cast hastega if you haven't got auto haste yet. Once Ifrit OD gauge is full, change Yuna in for Anima to block hell fire. If Anima OD gauge is full, I suggest Oblivion him for bonus damage although it may not do much damage to him due to high defense. Now just repeat this process, you should beat him. one thing is his defense is high so it might take a while. I don't think you have a high chance of getting Ribbon armor from him. He tend to drop armors with fireproof a lot more than Ribbon armor. Now, I'm sure there are people who are either weaker, or simply trying to do this in NSG, so I'll give that strategy as well. I am going to assume that you are familiar with mixes, and can make the mixes I describe without giving you the components. I'm also assuming that you know how to level up aeons, and have leveled up Anima just a bit. Start the battle with Trio of 9999, and use all the Overdrives that you can. Lulu's ice fury, Blitz ace, and attack reels will all hit for 9999 per hit, and that helps a good deal. Use Anima's Oblivion to at LEAST halve his HP, and probably do more. Use all the gems that you can against this guy (except flame gems), since they'll hit several times, and hit for 9999 each time. Make sure and get a turn in before Ifrit fills his OD gauge, and summon one of your aeons as a sacrificial lamb. A chocobo wing will prove very useful as well. Other than that, I leave it up to you and the NSG skills that you've learned so far. IV. ACTIVATING THE GLITCH =============================================================================== WELL, now you've beaten Dark Ifrit. Talk to the Al Bhed on the left, and get as close to him as possible while they're talking. As they speak, start tapping the O button, and you can continue walking! I've also been informed that sometimes you must leave and reenter Bikanel Island once you defeat Dark Ifrit, and sometimes you don't. That differs from game to game. IT DOES NOT WORK ON THE US VERSION. I've tried, and so have numerous other people. Sorry for all you US players, but it ain't happening. <NOTE from Jax1299> "For one you can't do the glitch automatically if you press the Circle button while the Al Bheds are talking, you have to do it almost immediately before and during their conversation. You have to press in the direction opposite of where the Al Bheds face or you will be pushed backwards, enough so that during their second conversation you slip through and go forward back to Home. Both Al Bheds should still be talking..." <further NOTE from SkinCladAlien> "my English is not that good but I hope I can explain clearly: walk towards the left guy(he must be dead ahead of you) while keep hitting circle, then when tidus stop walking, move the stick to a bit left to left-up position while still hitting circle like mad. if successful you will get pass on the second sentence, if not, try again" Al Bhed home is one of the places in the game that you're not meant to travel back to, and this is where the glitch kicks in. The cut scenes that you saw when you first came to Al Bhed home are shown again, and it's like you've never been to Al Bhed home before. The difference is that you have Yuna, and you still have your stuff from before, like items. The game basically erases the fact that you've been anywhere before Al Bhed home, and the storyline replays, with better characters! Finally, you can 1-hit Flux! V. SIDE EFFECTS =============================================================================== Unfortunately, there are some side effects. It is strongly recommended that you create a backup file before using this glitch. <Sfaok sent in the following:> "there is one particularly nasty side-effect that can stop you dead. Theres a chance that when you enter the Via Purifico with Yuna, the opening gate might be closed thus trapping Yuna on the wrong side of the gate and preventing further progress. My theory is that during my first time through the game, I turned Yuna back towards the entrance of the Via Purifico, thus triggering the gate coming down and preventing me from leaving. Unfortunately, the game remembered this and because Yuna starts before the gate, I was trapped with no way of opening the gate." <rawdeal no 5 sent in the following:> don't summon any Aeon during the fight with Evrae as then Yuna will just keeping running and the game will HANG. <river phoenix sent in the following> weirdest glitch for me is the part in the Purifico area where Tidus/Wakka/Rikku has to fight Evrae (undead), He WAS NOT there. I.e. there was no battle. Just swim 'till the end. Yuna also progresses in the maze without her guardians around. Ie. No Auron, Kimahri, Lulu cutscenes. The Teleport pad puzzle has also been solved. VI. FAQS ============================================================================== Q. I have the European version. Will the glitch work on my system? A. No. If you do not have Indonesian or Japanese, it WILL NOT work. Q. Does the Monster Arena reset? A. No. You will still have every creature unlocked that you did before Q. Do you keep the Celestial Weapons? A. Yes. The chests remain open, so you cannot get them again. Q. Do you keep all of your key items? A. Yes. Again, the ones in chests are already opened. Q. Can you reopen any chests? A. All of the chests that you opened before will remain opened, so you can't get duplicates. Q. Will you fight Dark Bahamut in front of Yunalesca? A. No, the dark aeons will not reappear until you reacquire the airship. VI.
