Question from EyesOfTheEmo
Proper set up for a [Job:Sage]?
im trying to turn one of my characters into preaty much a sage [uses all types of magic White,Time,Arcane,Black,Green,Summon] what would be good gambits and equipment for that set-up if anyone knows. (more of a late game job challenge heh, but i went through the whole game using brute force and i wanted to try using a solely-magic user so help would be greatly apreciated
First, make penelo your sage because she has the largest base MP pool.
Get the strongest mystic armor you can get your hands on. black mask and white mask help with absorbtion.. Get rod of faith because it gives you constant faith which is NEEDED for good magic casting. You need a sage ring or whatever ring that cuts MP in half.
Hopefully you have the upper augments which deal with magicks like magick lore for m.pow and channeling which saves MP
2) Charge less than 20% MP. (I found that 20% works just as well as 10%)
3) Curaja, late game it should do 9999 anyway.
4) Dispel, this is only used for bosses or hunts or rare game. Waste of MP on regular enemies
6) Protectga,... shellga not so much
7) Bubble ally
8) Berserk the dude with a combo item
8) Your choice.

Equipment is easy, just use the highest level Mystic Armour that you can, along with the highest level staff possible. Make sure in addition that you have ALL magic purchased and licensed. Quickenings (for the extra MP) and basically all of the augments are also recommended, for MP restore and less MP usage.
From a gambit standpoint, it's a bit harder to come up with a one-size-fits-all approach for a magic caster, since each enemy has different strengths/immunities and weaknesses. There are a few things you should definitely do, however:
---Put Arise first, followed by Curaja (or renew, but I find renew to be a waste). Healing should be the sage's #1 priority.
---Stay away from gambiting attacks that use a lot of MP or have a long animation. It's better to do those spells manually.
---A MP<10% --> charge gambit is always helpful.
---Non-elemental magic attacks are probably a good idea; manually cast different spells as the need arises.
---The magic user could be the person you rely on for Protectga/Shellga/Hastega buffs, but that's up to you.
Hope this helps!
