"A game for everyone"

Jak and Daxter is truly a great game for the whole family. From the makers of everyone's favorite Bandicoot (Naughty Dog) we get these two.

The story starts out as Jak and Daxter go exploring to the forbidden Misty Island when Daxter falls into a pool of Dark Eco, and is transformed into a weasel-like creature. It's your job as Jak to find a cure for your small friend.

Graphics 10/10
These are some of the best graphics I've seen for the PS2. The water is very well animated, the world is huge and filled with trees, rivers, snowfall, and lava. The characters that look like they came straight from a cartoon show. The worlds are filled with excellent detail, down to the very last pixel. Snow falls down, Lava gushes up from holes, and the lightning in the marshes is well done. There's even a Day/Night cycle that's interesting. Is you play long enough, the sun will fall and the moon will rise, sometimes different monsters will be out at night then in day.

Sound 10/10
From the splashing of water to the hooting of an unseen owl, the sound is crystal clear. The best part is the wonderfully done voice-overs. Daxter's character is extremely funny. You'll hang on to every word the rodent says. Even the angry old sage provides some humorous some funny lines.

Controls 9/10
The controls are very simple and the learning curve is very short. You'll soon be playing like a pro in a manner of seconds. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of moves, Jak has Crash Bandicoots variety of Spin kicks, jumps, and dash punches. But other than that, there's not much else.

Overall Fun 8/10
Jak and Daxter is a game that will keep you playing for hours. You'll want to hunt down every secret this game has to offer. With more than 5 worlds for explore, a bag full of monsters, and some neat vehicles, Jak and Daxter could be the next mascots for the PS2.

Replay: 7/10
There are tons of secrets in Jak and Daxter. Locating every single Orb and Power Cell will be a difficult task for any player, and exploring every world will keep you busy for quite a while.

Conclusion
In the end, Jak and Daxter is a great game for everyone in the family. It's not too hard, and not too easy. If you're a fan of Crash Bandicoot, you'll fall in love with Jak and Daxter in seconds. With all the places to go, and all the hours of hilarious dialogue, you'll be glued to the T.V. until you've beaten it and explored every inch of the huge world in Jak and Daxter. Enjoy.
