"Start of an addicting series"
To start off this is a game by square enix or at the time square soft. The main storyline is that you are a boy who gets taken from his home and is set into a journey to save all the known realms. At the same time you are supposed to be finding and/or rescuing his friends. So now comes the review.
To start off I have to say it was a fairly challenging game. The bosses were challenging but not to the point off making you not want to play. Also the gameplay is beautiful as far as simplicity is concerned. For veteran gamers it requires just enough attention to master the timing of your abilities but in the same light for those who are not as savvy to gaming it is an easy to grasp battle concept.
The bosses are also part of the "just right" category. For starters the weak points aren't obvious so it takes some time to get the hang of boss battles. at the same time once you find the rythym it becomes quite easy to dodge attacks and do damage. Extra bosses are particularly difficult and require a lot of strategy to win.
Your party members vary depending on where you are as do your enemies. With that your strategy has to change from place to place making it some times difficult to find enemy weaknesses. some are vulnerable to physical attack while others are weak against magic. Finding these weaknesses might be the biggest turn-off as far as desire to continue.
To be absolutely fair the turn-offs are mostly to do with strategizing. Non-experienced gamers might find it difficult to beat bosses and some stronger enemies. Another issue I have found is both a good thing and a bad thing. The lack of maps are an inconvenience but for the most part you can remember where you have been and where you haven't. Also there is the fact that you can't just buy weapons for the main character and every party member based on a specific movie doesn't have extra weapons. This makes it difficult to fight certain enemies if you don't have the correct weapon.
The music is derived from the various movies that the worlds are based off. The soundtrack is impressive but the music is repetitive and, while playing, is even annoying.
I would recommend this game for anyone who wants easy gameplay, fairly challenging bosses, and in depth story lines.
