2) Who is Sima Yi?

Taken from the DW3 Character Database:
"A Wei vassal. He was promoted after Cao Cao recognized his talent and
ability. In the battle with Shu, he refused to be lured out by Zhuge
Liang, putting his heart and soul into a strong defensive effort, which
resulted in victory. After serving four generations of the Cao family,
he won a battle with Cao Shuang to seize control of the Wei Empire,
laying the foundation for what would eventually become the Jin Dynasty."

LordKarasuman's notes: Sima Yi's style name is Zhongda. Sima Yi did win
a battle with Cao Shuang to seize control of Wei, but before he died he
gave back that control to Cao. Later, his son Sima Zhao retook control
and started the Jin Dynasty. It is said that Sima Yi only won against
Zhuge Liang because he had a lot more resources he could use than Zhuge.
-----------------------------------------------------------
3) Why would you use this character?

Sima Yi is like Zhuge Liang in the fact that Sima Yi is very weak at the
beginning, but if you keep at it and build him up as well as get his
fourth weapon, he can become really good. Sima Yi is very challenging,
and the way he I think he should be played is very risky. Sima is for
those who want very challenging but fun characters.
-----------------------------------------------------------

5) Moves and 4th Weapon Description

Moves Key:
S - Square
T - Triangle
Regular Attack - S's

Regular Attack: 2/3's of Zhongda's regular attack is focused directly in
front of him. The remaining 1/3's, or the fourth and fifth S, makes him
spin around, which attacks in a very short 360 degree radius.

Jump Attack: Zhongda thrusts his fan forward in a downward angle.

Mounted Attack/Musou: Zhongda thrusts his fan into an almost 180 degrees
attack in front of him - continuously on the Musou version.

Dash Attack: Zhongda's fan splits in two and he semi-floats forward at a
very fast speed with those two fans horizontally in front of him
attacking.

T: Zhongda's fan spins around him.

ST: Zhongda's first launcher. First the fan lays itself flat on the
ground, then lifts up the enemy.

SST: Zhongda throws a laser at the enemy with his fan. Stun attack.

SSST: Zhongda's fan splits in two and forms a frontal-V-wave in front of
him, then returns and merges back again.

SSSST: Zhongda's second launcher. Exactly like the first launcher.

SSSSST: Zhongda throws four lasers -- one forward, one left, one right,
and one forward again.

Musou: Zhongda fires multiple, simultaneous lasers left right left
right. The Musou finishes with a lot of lasers at the end from left to
forward to right. Very easy to combo a lot of hits.

4th Weapon Information:
Elements are a special ability a weapon may be equipped with. They cause
some extra damage on certain combos. They are Fire, Lightning, and
Death. 4th weapons have very high increase to character stats.

4th Weapon: Dark Feather
Element - Lightning
Basic Attack +28
Bow Attack +50
Mounted Attack +55
Reach +29
Musou Charge +26

At Wu Zhang Plains, defeat Zhang Bao. 20 minutes (from the start, not
from when you defeated Zhang Bao) into the game and a supply team will
show up near Zhang Bao's starting point. Defeat him, and it will show
the special item discovered message. Go to where it tells you to go.

There is a popular trick to acquiring fourth weapons. Choose the person
you want to get the fourth weapon in one of the player slots. Select a
maxed out, powerful character in the other slot. Then, fulfill the
requirements needed to get the fourth weapon with the maxed out
character, and get the weapon. After that, complete the level.

6) Overview and Character Strategy

Sima is a very good character, and his 4th weapon gives him flexibility.
Allow me to say a few things about him, though. His T is nothing
special. His ST is slow as hell. His SST is very basic. His SSST cannot
defend his back in most situations. His SSSST, like his ST, is very
slow. His SSSSST is very hard to use, not good for 1 on 1 and not too
effective for crowds as it, like his SSST, cannot defend his back.

That being said, it seems like Sima isn't worth playing. All his moves
don't seem that good. However, let me say something about his SSST. It
cannot defend his back, but it definetly puts up a good show on his
front. His SSST has lightning, which means that when soldiers come
crashing down, the lightning-shock-effect along with knockback can
seriously hurt a crowd. This is especially true for incoming soldier
groups. In short, his SSST can wreak havoc. His dash is pretty good, it
can help to get away from a crowd every seventh step you take. Sima also
has really good Bow attack, which is helpful in killing bosses. Sima's
mounted attack is the best in the game, where he attacks a full 180
degrees to his front. Sima also happens to have an excellent Musou.

However good his SSST is, he's still what I like to call a Musou-focused
character -- as in he uses his Musou and Musou-charge for all his needs
in the battlefield. Sima is perfectly suited to this. He has an awesome
laser Musou which can combo for a lot, and his fourth weapon happens to
have the key to a Musou-focused character, Musou-charge. I play Sima as
a guerrilla character, a hit-and-run person. With low-life, circle enemy
soldiers and make sure they don't hit you. Wait for the Musou to charge,
then go for an enemy officer and unleash it. With low-life or Way of The
Musou, fire will do great damage.

You can try giving Sima the Huang's Bow and Flame Arrow item, and he can
really take off a chunk of the enemy's life. Another thing to try out
would be to give him some extra mounted attack, mounted defense, and the
Golden Harness and try to pass a level solely on a horse. With that
extra mounted attack it just might work.

Sima is a good all-around character in my eyes.

Recommended Equipment:
Shell Armor
Tortoise Amulet
Peacock Urn
Red Hare Saddle
Buckler

7) Stage Strategy

He Fei Castle: This stage is a bit tricky for Sima. The attack plan
should go like this:

1 - Go for Zhen Ji. He's fairly simple to beat as he is a faceless
officer.
2 - Defeat Lu Xun. He's a bit hard, and you'll need to attract as little
troops as you can and keep a far distance from archers. Musou Lu Xun
whenever your Musou is full. When you don't have much life left, circle
the troops so they don't hit you, and get in when your Musou fills up
and Musou Lu Xun. Keep at it and kill him. Save if you think you might
get killed, so that in the case that you do, you can reload.
3 - Defeat Lu Meng / Taishi Ci. Do as before.
4 - Defeat Sun Shang Xiang / Zhou Yu the same way. If you lead Sun Shang
Xiang / Zhou Yu away from the archers and behind the walls, it'll be
easier to take him out.
5 - At about this time your reinforcements should appear and the gates
should open. They'll hold off Sun Quan / Ce / Jian for a while. Kill Gan
Ning.
6 - Run for Sun Quan / Ce / Jian's gate captain, the one he starts near.
Once he's gone no more reinforcements will come. Now diminish Sun Quan /
Ce / Jian's forces and kill him. This takes a while, so make sure you
have a lot of time. Don't rush.

Wu Zhang Plains: This is simple. Help Sima Zhao defeat Zhang Fei. Move
to Ma Dai, lead him from his camp and into your forces, and kill him.
Move to Yan Yan, lead him from his camp, and kill him. Go help Zhang He
kill Guan Xing and Wang Ping. Lead Guan Xing away from his forces and
kill him. Do the same with Wang Ping. Remember to dodge the arrows. Now,
run for Zhuge Liang / Liu Bei. Ignore Jiang Wei and the ambush troops
which have a lot of archers. Kill Zhuge Liang / Liu Bei. This is easy to
do because Zhuge / Liu does not have a lot of troops cluttered around
him, unlike if you were playing on Shu side and attacking Sima Yi.

8) Stage Flowchart

First: Guan Du
Second: Chang Ban
Third: Chi Bi

Final: Wu Zhang Plains
