Review by MastaJ

"Rayne, he's dead. No, he's dead. Don't worry about the other limbs!"

Wow, this game is amazing. BloodRayne is a sweet little game for the PS2, Gamecube, and XBox. My review focuses on the PS2 version, but I'm not sure if there are any real differences. This game is also definitely not for little kids. All the blood and gore could make even a teenager hurl (I didn't, though.) The M rating is even pushed a bit, too. Well then, let's jump on into the review!

Graphics: 9/10
The graphics truly amazed me here. Everything seems realistic. But the graphics also make this game push the M rating. There's some big jug factor in the beginning of the game. You can also hack people's limbs off, which is great fun. Blood and gore flies everywhere if you do stuff like that, though, so it's not for the faint of heart. The backgrounds are very realistic too. Rayne can interact with just about anything. Breaking lamps, slashing up alarms, and crushing desks are just a few of the things you can do. But sometimes the graphics get a bit too dark. It can be a bit hard to see a ways in front of you sometimes, especially in the first few levels. But it doesn't obscure anything much, though.

Sound: 7/10
The music in this game didn't really get to me. A lot of the time you can't hear it too well. It's basically just some little tunes here and there to try and scare you a bit. Nothing special.
The sound effects were good. The guns sound pretty real, and the enemies scream. It's always fun to laugh maniacally at your T.V. screen while firing off numerous clips, making your enemies scream in terror. The voices are done well, too. Rayne moans when she sucks peoples blood, and says little suggestive lines sometimes. They also use the....bum bum bummmmm.....''F'' word in this game. That pushes the M rating a bit, too.

Story: 4/10
Nothing special here. Rayne works for a secret organization, taking in missions and such. The game also takes place around World War 2, so you can kill Nazis. There's many different missions you have to take on. But, like most action games, the gameplay is a lot more important than the storyline.

Gameplay: 8/10
Ahhhh, the part that matters. The gameplay is great in this game. Rayne has blades on her arms, which you use to slash people up. You can also pick up guns, which you use to shoot people up. The diverse missions in this game spice things up a little, too. You do many things, such as destroying enemy nests, or killing Nazi officers. Rayne can also feed on people when her health is getting low. There's also special things you can do, such as use aura vision. It's like night vision in a way. You can see enemies more clearly and such. Then there's the mode you can enter once your happy little bar fills up. Time slows down, and your attacks are stronger. There's also an increased chance of cutting off people's limbs. Great gameplay here.

Replayability: 3/10
There really isn't too much you can do once you've beaten the game. You can make up little missions for yourself, such as never using a gun, but once you beat it, you probably won't play it again much.

Stats:
Graphics: 9
Sound: 7
Story: 4
Gameplay: 8
Replayability: 3
Overall: 8

That's it for BloodRayne's review, folks. Go ahead and play now.
