I. Introduction
---------------

This Guide details 2 Supply Effects. Supply Condition and Difficulty Condition.
Item availably for each location can be effected by either or both. I
originally used the BradyGames Strategy Guide until I found it mostly
unreliable while testing for accuracy. Everything is from my own observations.

II. Testing Method (General)
----------------------------

My testing method was to save my game with all items collected then use enough
of them to get under the reported Supply Condition limit. I played the next
area to locate all the items and saved at the end of that area under a second
file. I then loaded my first file with all the items to see which ones in the
next area had been removed. I loaded the file again to find the exact limit. I
repeated this method with each difficulty listed. I also noted which items
were effected by the difficulty I was playing with. To test the item values I
emptied everything except Handgun Bullets to find the exact limit then on
successive file loads I kept one round of each ammo type and deducted varying
amounts of Handgun Bullets. I also performed similar tests on the Birthday
Present room C1 in the Alternate Brookhaven Hospital to ensure that information
was accurate.

One example is Hazel Street Station. The Strategy Guide reported the Supply
Condition to be less than 50. I entered with 40 Handgun Bullets plus 10 in the
gun. 2 boxes of Handgun Bullets were on the trash can. I then entered with 114
plus 10 in the gun and the 2 boxes of Handgun Bullets were missing. This didn't
indicate that the Supply Condition limit was exactly 50, if it varied depending
on difficulty, or weather the ammo in the gun was counted or not. It merely
confirmed that these items were effected and that if you are within the
reported Supply Condition limit they will appear.

In one attempt to test for these variables in easy I found that these 2 items
still appeared if I had 80 bullets but not 81. Both times I had no bullets in
the gun. When I had 80 Bullets plus 1 in the gun they were missing. The
conclusion being that the bullets in the gun are counted and that, at least
in easy, the Supply Condition is actually less than 81. 

In the Underground Passage, in easy, 2 boxes of Handgun Bullets appeared with
110 Handgun Bullets and were missing with 111. Appeared with 107 Handgun
Bullets and 1 Shotgun Shell but were missing with 108 Handgun Bullets and 1
Shotgun Shell. The conclusion is that 1 Shotgun Shell is equal to 3 Handgun
Bullets.

The Strategy Guide said Submachine Gun Bullets were 1/2 the value of Handgun
Bullets. In the Amusement Park 3 Handgun Bullets appeared with 160 Handgun
Bullets, 159 Handgun Bullets and 2 Submachine Gun Bullets, and 159 Handgun
Bullets and 3 Submachine Gun Bullets, but not with 159 Handgun Bullets and 4
Submachine Gun Bullets. So their value is actually 1/3.

III. Testing Method (Birthday Present)
--------------------------------------

In one file I had:
23 Health Drinks, 6 First Aid Kits, 7 Ampoules,
170 Hand Gun Bullets, 6 Shotgun Shells, and 96 Submachine Gun Bullets.

In another I had:
31 Health Drinks, 10 First Aid Kits, 6 Ampoules,
264 Hand Gun Bullets, 72 Shotgun Shells, and 96 Submachine Gun Bullets.

Stun Gun Batteries didn't appear to have a bearing on the supplies in the
Birthday Present room C1. With these numbers there were 2 Health Drinks.

These configurations added a First Aid Kit:
30 Health Drinks, 0 First Aid Kit, 0 Ampoules
22 Health Drinks, 1 First Aid Kit, 2 Ampoules
20 Health Drinks, 2 First Aid Kits, 2 Ampoules
19 Health Drinks, 1 First Aid Kit, 3 Ampoules
But not when I added an extra Health Drink.

The conclusion is that:
2 Health Drinks = 1 First Aid Kit and
3 Health Drinks = 1 Ampoule.

And that the supply limit for that item is equal to the value of 30 Health
Drinks.

I then made the drug value in the larger file equal to that of the smaller file
with 26 Health Drinks, 6 First Aid Kits, and 6 Ampoules. Adding 3 Health Drinks
for the missing Ampoule. After depleting the ammo I found that the 2 Health
Drinks were replaced by 2 boxes of Handgun Bullets when I had 225 Handgun
Bullets but not when I had 220 plus 5 in the gun. The conclusion is that the
bullets in the gun aren't counted by the Birthday Present room. With none in
the gun and 224 Hand Gun Bullets the 2 boxes of Handgun Bullets appeared but
with 225 Hand Gun Bullets the 2 Health Drinks appeared. The conclusion is that
26 Health Drinks, 6 First Aid Kits, and 6 Ampoules are equal to 224 Hand Gun
Bullets. This was enough to figure out the Item Values.

Not counting ammo loaded into guns,
these configurations added a box of Handgun Bullets:
120 Handgun Bullets, 0 Shotgun Shells, 0 Submachine Gun Bullets
12 Handgun Bullets, 6 Shotgun Shells, 96 Submachine Gun Bullets
24 Handgun Bullets, 0 Shotgun Shells, 96 Submachine Gun Bullets
44 Handgun Bullets, 6 Shotgun Shells, 64 Submachine Gun Bullets
But not when I added an extra Handgun Bullet in Supplies.

The conclusion is that
1 Handgun Bullet = 1 Submachine Gun Bullet and
2 Handgun Bullets = 1 Shotgun Shell
And that the supply limit for that item is equal to the value of 120 Handgun
Bullets.

For the Nurses I started with 30 Health Drinks and 160 Handgun Bullets. I then
depleted Handgun Bullets to reduce the number of nurses. Finally there was 1
Nurse with 29 Health Drinks and 4 Handgun Bullets but none with 29 Health
Drinks and 3 Handgun Bullets. Confirming that:
4 Handgun Bullets = 1 Health Drink.

IV. Using this Guide
--------------------

This Guide is arranged in sections by area and can be searched that way. I've
also labeled each location with a number and reused those in my efforts to
revise StarFighters76's maps as a more organized way to describe items using
the legend. For areas with Supply Conditions I've included a values key. For
each item that has a value, multiply that value by how many of that item you
are carrying. The combined total will determine what items appear in that area.
I've also listed the items that always appear and included a description of
their location without numbering them.

To explain the supply table:

### - the 3 digit number for that location.
Note: Action difficulty unless otherwise noted.
location | Describes where the items are.
Beginner | Beginner mode on Easy difficulty.
Easy     | Easy difficulty.
Beginner | Beginner mode on Normal difficulty.
Normal   | Normal difficulty.
Hard     | Hard Difficulty.
Extreme  | Extreme 1 difficulty, unlocked in the game after completing Hard.
SC       | Supply Condition that makes the item available in the difficulty
           listed above it.

The numbers are 3 digits to avoid confusion in the Table of Contents.
For example, Shopping Center (return) has location 11 and not 11 locations.
Also the 0 makes the numbers more distinctive when searching.
If you search for 12 preceded by a 0 you won't get the previous references to
120 Handgun Bullets like you would if you just searched for 12.

I stopped after Extreme 1 action because there were only one or two differences
from Hard and by this point anyone using this guide should have a sufficient
understanding of how the Supply Effects work.

To my knowledge these areas don't contain items subject to Supply Conditions:

Brookhaven Hospital (return)

About Brookhaven Hospital. I normally put items in order of what will be the
quickest way to pick them up as you go through the area. Once you get the
Stairwell Key you may want to get the Submachine Gun in the basement next.
However if you want to see everything in the game and read all of Stanley's
diary memos it's necessary to go to the 3rd Floor store room before taking the
photo of the shelf in the basement. I arranged the order with this in mind. If
you're trying for a higher rank and want to save time go to the basement after
getting the Stairwell Key.

There are also 4 notes on puzzle solutions for the different riddle modes.
In a small notation next to the items for the bookstore the door code on Hard
is always the same.
In Brookhaven Hospital the 2nd floor door codes for each difficulty are always
the same.
In a small notation next to the Cremated Key the lock combination on Hard is
always the same.
In the Church the order to place the Tarot Cards for each difficulty are always
the same.

VI. Results
If you keep your supplies high and exceed the Supply Conditions less items will
be available while playing.
If you keep your supplies low and deplete them often more items become
available while playing.
