"Crikey! This game be a floppy!"
So...Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, huh? Interesting idea that starts off rather well. But quickly turns into an idea with no actual substance and very little entertainment. This game just isn't quite as fun as you may expect. It gets very repetitive after a short time and you are left with nothing after you beat it. If your curious why
well read my review!
The story is extremely simple and is the same pace the entire way. There are a couple surprises but, quite frankly, they're not shocking or in any way exhilarating in the least. The basic plot is that you are an Australian Tasmanian Tiger named Ty, who wears a red ascot around his neck, and carries twin boomerangs. And you are in search of 5 stolen talismans that will open the portal in which you're family is trapped in. Or in laments terms, let's go through tons of different locations doing the same stuff over and over!
Fortunately the graphics don't bring down the game. The graphics are just wonderful and are well animated. They're well polished and designed nicely. And all the environments are colorful and creative, you really do feel like your down by the bayou. Though you will notice that Ty looks kind of different, up-close.
The gameplay formula is pretty basic. You hit stuff with boomerangs, you rescue things, race things, ect. to get these things called "Thunder Eggs". It may seem pretty easy and simple. But don't be fooled. Getting the required amount of these thunder eggs is no easy task. A lot of gamers get frustrated with this game because of how such a simple task is such a pain in the neck. Sucking out all the fun that this game is already lacking.
The sound is alright. Each character speaks in strong Australian accents, that aren't too overdone. There's a crikey! here and there that arent too bothersome. The dialogue is childish but that's what'd you'd expect from a game like this. Sounds effects sound just fine, it was nice to see that they at least took the time to create different sound effects for each boomerang.
I know this is a short review. But nothing much else to say about the game other than the fact that its just not, fun. Which is what a game should be right? It's rather boring, kiddy, and a forced attempt at entertainment. A cluttered project to say the least.
Rent or Buy
Obviously you can tell I'm not too fond of the game but in my opinion it just failed in what it was trying to be. If you were to rent it, you would do so when you were really bored and had nothing to do. But you would probably still get tired of it easily. So my verdict, just take a pass on this.
