Table of Contents: I. Introduction II. Translations III. Update History/Special Thanks ===================================================================== I. Introduction ===================================================================== This document provides the English translations of the dialogue from the ending cinematics in Sakura Taisen V ~Saraba, Itoshiki Hito yo~. Translations are provided for each of the six character-specific endings (i.e. the ending you would see if you picked the girl listed as your partner/heroine in chapter 7)as well as for the generic ending (Taiga's voiceovers while "Kiss Me Sweet" plays and a slide show of memorable images from the game are shown as credits roll). If you have not finished the game with a girl, you're discouraged from reading the section pertaining to her ending: though the dialogue will make little sense without the video, you can still spoil yourself. Yes, the above counts as the obligatory spoiler alert. ===================================================================== II. (or "Rally" if you prefer. Guess which name I like better. --ed.) <Shinjiro> Watch out! <Shinjiro> Are you okay, Gemini? <Shinjiro> A-ah! This is... <Gemini> U-um... (long pause) I love you, Shinjiro. <Shinjiro> Gemini... 2. Sagitta Weinberg: Background Theme: "Downtown Heart" Vocals: Minagawa Junko <Reporters in the background> There she is! <Particularly loud reporter> Here please! This is cool, this is cool! (referring to either the joyriding or the breeze. Or both. --ed.) <Shinjiro> You're so different! From the lawyer just a moment ago, that is. <Sagitta> Is that so? <Sagitta> That person then is me, just as this person now is me. <Sagitta> They're both me the way I want to be! (i.e. not facades. --ed.) <Shinjiro> T-that's right. They're both Sagitta-san, aren't they? <Sagitta> We're going to really fly tonight, so hold on tight, Shinjiro! <Shinjiro> Okay! <Sagitta> Good reply! <Sagitta> Then let's keep going like this -- as far as we can go. <Shinjiro> Let's fly! 3. A male outfit or a female outfit? <Subaru> Is something troubling you? <Shinjiro> Something IS troubling me! Because... <Shinjiro> (thinking) ...because even now, I still don't know if Subaru-san is a guy or a girl... <Subaru> In that case, just pick something you like. <Shinjiro> Eh? <Subaru> As long as it's a gift from Shinjiro, I will respond to it with pleasure. <Shinjiro> Subaru-san! <Shinjiro> T-then, in that case... <Shinjiro> How about this one? <Shinjiro> Mmm-hmm! Let's do this one! <Subaru> Understood. Subaru will wear that outfit... <Shinjiro> This one is great too! <Shinjiro> All right! Let's do this one! <Shinjiro> But now that I really think about it, it looks really weak on a guy... <Shinjiro> I don't want to give up either of these! What should I do?! <Subaru> Subaru is laughing. 4. (she's just about to say "dead." --ed.) <Shinjiro> Diana-san! Diana-san! Diana-san! <Diana> Calling! He's calling me! <Diana> It's okay for me to go. <Diana> To his side. <Diana> On my own two feet! <Shinjiro> Diana-san! <Shinjiro> Please be careful, Diana-san. <Diana> Eh? Ah! <Shinjiro> Aw, you shouldn't overdo it, you know. <Diana> Taiga-san, you sound like you're my father. <Shinjiro> Eh? Ah! In that case, I'll-- <Diana> I'm sorry I just said something strange. <Diana> Taiga-san, you're really concerned for me, aren't you? <Shinjiro> W-when you put it that way... <Diana> I can do anything. I can go anywhere. I can be whatever I want to be. <Diana> I finally feel like I've gotten up to stand on my own. <Shinjiro> That's because instead of giving up, you fought off your illness on your own. <Diana> No. It's because you were by my side to tell me. 6. ("zenryaku" literally means "the above omitted"; it's a standard way to start a letter in Japanese) <Shinjiro> Since I've come to New York, I've learned some important things. <Shinjiro> I've been taught many things by many people, and after all that's happened, I really do understand clearly now... <Shinjiro> ...why I fight, and why I am myself. *vocals begin* <Shinjiro> Hope will never betray you. <Shinjiro> You are never alone. <Shinjiro> Those are things Mother told me... <Shinjiro> ...and I feel like I understand them now. *vocals resume* <Shinjiro> Hold proudly to those you protect. <Shinjiro> Thank those whom you are protecting. <Shinjiro> The things you experience together... <Shinjiro> ...will become your true strength. <Shinjiro> Compared to the man I was a year ago... <Shinjiro> ...while I may not be there yet... (to become a "dekkai otoko"/great man, that is --ed.) <Shinjiro> ...I have learned to have faith in myself. *vocals resume* <Shinjiro> It seems that it will be a while longer before I return to Japan. <Shinjiro> I want to work hard here in New York a little longer. <Shinjiro> Here are the people I hold dear, after all. <Shinjiro> I'm still immature, but please believe in me! <Shinjiro> Someday, I will definitely show you the great man I've become! ===================================================================== III. Special thanks to Sega and RED Entertainment for making another great game in a great series, to all the seiyuu for fantastic performances (except you, Saitou Ayaka -- your loli voice is just way too annoying -_-), and to all my peeps here at the GameFAQs board (especially Rose4256 for telling me to put these translations in a doc like this) for being cool dudes. Rock on, dudes, rock on ^^.
