"A movie theme in an arcade game"
The topic pretty much sums up what you're getting into. This game is NOT a real movie and is NOT a Goldeneye clone or a Perfect dark. This game is an arcade style game much like star wars arcade with a sense of realism and action.
Basically you are James Bond 007 and you start off going on a mission to capture a agent held hostage (being the first level) and then you go on an array of missions and through many scenes which make this game feel very movie like.
Some missions are similar to Goldeneye where you're running around shooting things and using gadgets while some other levels your driving a BMW through the port docks.
Graphics: A solid 10/10 here! Everything is crisp and clean and this is where it looks like time splitters had some kind of involvement. The way the bullets fly out and the way the enemies approach you makes you wonder if this game would be time splitters 1.5? HAH!
Music: 8/10 It's decent and original and very movie like but can get annoying at times. If you end up shooting up an explosion and the enemy flies all over the screen the background music turns into the bond theme for 5 seconds and goes right back. Mainly when there's a change of pace in the game and it seams like you did something really good.
Sound: 10/10 Guns blasting, people screaming, cars crashing, explosions all over the place. Total anarchy with the sounds. Very movie like yet again and you won't be disappointed with surround sound.
Control: 9/10 Yes the control is somewhat decent and is mainly a mix-up of the psx version of the world is not enough meets spy hunter ps2. Very slick and smooth control yet the second weapon selection is annoying hitting select for the other function of a gun.
Originality: 10/10 This game is different from most of the bond games since you can fly through most parts and it's more action packed. The multiplayer mode is also like Medal of Honor or say Quake 3 yet it has Perfect Dark weapons and classic Goldeneye guns.
This game shows most of the ps2's power and potential. Most people see this game as Time Splitters meets Goldeneye and I couldn't agree more. It's a very solid game and I highly recommend it to anyone who has ever played Perfect Dark or Time Splitters since it's highly addictive.
It may not be as competitive as Goldeneye but then again Goldeneye is a totally different game and as you can see it hasn't been duplicated other then Perfect Dark.
If your hesitant about buying this game rent it for a day and you'll change your mind. I did and now I own it.
