To put it simply there won't be any new consoles, handheld or other wise, for at LEAST another 5-6 years from ANY of the big 3 companies, if at all.

The current generation has proved hugely expensive and caused the closure and merger of dozens of publishers and developers due to the large number of high profile flops e.g. Killzone 2, Mirrors Edge, Dead Space e.t.c, the list just goes on and on.
