Version 1.2 (3-16-05)- Hey! A shoutout to all the European guys
that emailed me! You've been a major help with the PAL
glitches you submitted, especially you, Nova! I appreciate it!
Also, I've been working on a combo video showcasing some of
these glitches, and it will hopefully be hosted soon, so check
it out!
Glitches added:
Seth Teleporting glitch
Unblockable Power Geyser
(PAL) Leona's C Throw
(PAL) Japanese/English voices glitch
(PAL) Crystal Bit glitch
Removed the Ringout glitch because it's undoubtedly fake now,
since I couldn't do it with "Teleporting Seth". Removed
whole unconfirmed glitches section, actually, because rumors
are stupid and pointless
Version 1.1 (12-3-04)- Added the following glitches:
Iori Scum Gale glitch
"Grind Those Teeth!" glitch
Counter Hit Training mode glitch
Break combo limit glitch
Version 1.0 (12-23-04)- First versions. Several glitches added

1.0 Introduction
-------------------------------------------------------
Let's face it, Maximum Impact was programmed sloppily. VERY sloppily. The
fact that they put a combo limit in the game is a testament to the fact
that Noise Factory most obviously DID NOT test the game thoroughly at all.
Bah, it's not like it matters though. Besides, glitches built the
fighting game genre to what it is today for the better or the worse (aka
MORTAL KOMBAT. Lame infinites, bullcrap unblockables.. </minirant>).
glitches ADD enjoyment to a lot of games. I kinda miss the days like
that... but whatever..
This FAQ is a compiliation of all the glitches I or other people have
found in King of Fighters: Maximum Impact. Yep, there's enough that it
deserves it's own FAQ LOL.
There are currently eighteen glitches in this FAQ.
If you have a glitch you'd like to contribute to this FAQ, please email
me at Steelfangedsamurai@gmail.com with info. on what it is and how to
reproduce it (or a video of it with input and damage view on in training
mode of it happening if you don't know how it works)

1.2 Overview of glitch Info. Layout
______________________________________
All information of glitches will be in the following format:
NAME
What it does: ___________________________________
Who it affects: _________________________________
Contributor: ____________________________________
Confirmation: ___________________________________
How to do it:_____________________________________
Why it works:_____________________________________
Misc. Info: ______________________________________
Note that WHY IT WORKS IS COMPLETLY THEROY.
If it affects gameplay majorly there may be a analysis of how this
changes gameplay.
-------------------------------------------------------
2.0 Minor glitches
-------------------------------------------------------
Minor glitches are things that really don't affect gameplay, and if they do,
generally do not cause any serious difference. A prime example is a camera
glitch.
______________________________________
#1 Shinkuu Nage glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Makes it impossible to do the followup to Rock's Shinkuu Nage.
Who it affects: Rock
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: To do this glitch, all you have to do is just sidestep then
do a Shinkuu Nage. If you try and do the followup move it will not
come out.
Why it works: Unknown
______________________________________
#2 Alba's counter glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Makes it so you have to input commands right after
a successful counter backwards
Who it affects: Alba
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Whenever you connect a successful counter with Alba, for
a short period afterward you have to input motions for moves as if
you were facing the same direction pre-counter, even though you've
turned around.
Why it works: I'm guessing the game doesn't register you as turned
around until a second or two after recover from the counter.
______________________________________
#3 Rage Run Shift glitch
______________________________________
What it does: The camera wigs out and Rock changes sides with opponent,
but since the camera shifted is stll on the same side (as in for
motion inputs)
Who it affects: Rock
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Do a Rage Run Shift that will cross over as soon as they
recovery roll. Works best on small stages.
Why it works: Unknown
______________________________________
#4 Music during Pause glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Plays music even though the game is paused.
Who it affects: Everyone
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: If you pause the game RIGHT as the music is starting
(by that, I mean like THE FRAME) the music is starting, then it
will start up even though you have paused the game, where normally
no music is played. I've only been able to do this TWICE on the
Esaka stage during training mode. It's probable that this works in
other modes as well, but it's so hard to do so further testing is
difficult.
Why it works: Unknown
______________________________________
#5 AI Clark "echo" glitch
______________________________________
What it does: AI Clark says "GRIND THOSE TEETH!" twice when doing
b,f+P
Who it affects: No one
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: AI Clark will randomly do this.
Why it works: Unknown
______________________________________
#6 Counter hit training mode glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Makes the "counter" property stay after disabled
Who it affects: No one
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Turn counter on in the training mode menu. Exit the
menu. Later, turn it back off. You can still do a counter hit
even though it's disabled for a short period of time
Why it works: Unknown
______________________________________
#7 BOOM! Unblockable Power Geyser!
______________________________________
What it does: Makes Terry's second hit of Triple Geyser unblockable!
Who it affects: Terry
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Do the back+HP,HP stylish art, then do a delayed
cancel into triple geyser. If done correctly the enemy can
block the first power geyser (yet the hit counter still remains
there!), and the other two hit, for a four-hit combo o_O
Why it works: After finding out about all these glitches, there seems
to be a repeating pattern that KoFMI has troubles with frame
specific things. Power geyser comes out really fast. So, maybe
like the throw glitch, because the move comes out so fast, this
glitch makes it so it seems like the combo hasn't ended even
though it has, just like it thinks blockstun hasn't begun with
the throw glitch. If that's the case, this may work with other
moves. Hope that wasn't confusing...
-------------------------------------------------------
3.0 Major glitches
-------------------------------------------------------
Major glitches are glitches that change the gameplay seriously, in a
little way or a big way. Not camera glitches (unless it's serious enough),
but things that will cause extra damage and allow things that are not
normally possible to do.
______________________________________
#1 Chain Drive Fireball glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Chain Drive connects even though the glasses didn't.
Who it affects: K'
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: From a distance where you'll recover before the fireball
reaches the enemy, do a Trigger to Second Shoot. As soon as you
recover do a Chain Drive. When the fireball hits the opponent the
Chain Drive will connect, even though the glasses did not.
Why it works: Chain Drive is obviously set to make K' rush forward
when ANY fireball hits, not just his glasses.
Fairly useless, as as that range NO ONE is going to get hit by the
fireball...
______________________________________
#2 Lien Laser glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Lien's Laser move (qcb+Any button) gains an extra hit
for increased damage
Who it affects: Lien
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Knock the opponent into the laser with a move at the
correct timing.
Why it works: I think it may have to do something with it hitting
OTG AND non-OTG or something like that.
Misc. Info: Damage seems to fluctuate with the laser with this.
Doing the Rush super to knock into the laser will sometimes do
around 80%!!!!!
This glitch makes Lien's unblockable setups even more ridiculous if
that's even possible... It can do ludicrous damage for NO bar. Even
K' at least has to have some execution to do his combos, but Lien
is just easy-mode all the way.
______________________________________
#3 "Ultimate Tick" glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Allows characters with command throws to throw during
blockstun
Who it affects: All characters with command throws besides Maxima
Discovered by: Beast of Fire on SRK in this thread:
http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67851
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Use a cancellabe move. As SOON as it hits cancel
immediately into the character's command throw
Why it works: Since it appears that ALL command throws come out
in 0-1 frames in this game, and you do it right as they block
I'm led to believe the cancel is at the same time as it
registers that the opponent is in blockstun, and the throw
has already registered that it's a hit since it comes out.
This makes blocking an even riskier proposition against people
with command throws in the game, adding another layer of
mindgames to grapplers and such. Don't block in this game kids,
it's bad for your health.
______________________________________
#4 Reverse knockback glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Knockbacks the opponent TOWARD you instead of
away.
Who it affects: Everyone
Discovered by: MrWhiteFolks (?) (He was the first one I saw
using this glitch)
Confirmation: Combo video by MrWhiteFolks at this site:
http://www.pimp-productions.com/
How to do it: Hit an opponent with a move at the right place
and they will fly in the wrong direction when hit. Seems
to be different depending on the move. I'll look into
this more later
Why it works: Crappy hit detection
Obviously allows combos not normally possible. Pretty cool.
______________________________________
#5 Crystal Bit glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Athena's Crystal Bit DOA Thrashing sticks to
her, VASTLY increasing the damage she does in combos.
Who it affects: Athena
Discovered by: Unknown
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Unknown
Why it works: Unknown
I have no clue how to reproduce this EXTREMELY powerful
glitch. Right now it appears to be once in a blue moon, but
if someone were to figure out how to get her to do it
consistently, Athena would be bumped up to a definite top
tier in this game. I've had it happen twice to me, once
the first time I played Story Mode with Athena, and the
second when I was trying to do it. I mashed buttons after
doing the hcbx2 super and it worked... But I tried again
and it didn't. Go figure.
Note: If you own the PAL version, there's info. on how to
do it consistently in 50Hz mode in the PAL section.
______________________________________
#6 Iori Scum Gale glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Makes Scum Gale utterly worthless
Who it affects: Iori
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Use Scum Gale and attack. Wow it goes through
the enemy. It's still possible to use, but it's not worth
it to bother.
Why it works: The programmers more than likely erroneously
kept the character being thrown in the throw state
(characters are invincible while throwing/being thrown).
______________________________________
#7 Break combo limit glitch
______________________________________
What it does: Allows you to do combos after the screen
flashes pink
Who it affects: Maxima only?
Discovered by: Buktooth
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: If you do Maxima's Dangerous Arch into feint,
then combo it over and over using his infinite, you can
get past the combo limit.
Why it works: Well, that whole move is wonky. I guess it's
because it picks them back up so they don't have a
chance to lie down and recover. If that's the case this
might work with Clark's pickup move?
______________________________________
#8 "Teleporting Seth"
______________________________________
What it does: Teleport thru ur opponent LOLOL!
Who it affects: Seth
Discovered by: Kouga
Confirmation: Kouga
How to do it: Do C Rising Sun when really close to an opponent at
the same time they do an attack. I did this using the training
dummy of Kyo set to attack, and doing Rising Sun at the right
timing. It seems the easiest with Kyo.
Why it works: Obviously this is another crappy hitbox detection
glitch that probably works on other moves. Seth's rising sun
moves him forward. Kyo's standing B probably moves him forward
temporarily too. What happens when both push against each other
at the same time?! Well, that's the theroy anyways.
-------------------------------------------------------
4.0 PAL glitches
-------------------------------------------------------
It appears that Ignition Entertainment was rather sloppy when it came
to adding the Hz feature and the VA toggle to the KoFMI port over in
PAL regions. The 50Hz mode more glitches than 60Hz mode. Of course,
you could put it on 60Hz mode if you don't want to deal with them, but
it's not worth it since they're not that bad. Well, except easy-mode
crystal bit glitch lol.
Note that I do not own the PAL version. I'm going on people's word.
Multiple people have emailed me similar stories of the glitches that
match up, but I can't confirm them myself.
Special thanks to Nova for pointing out the Hz toggle feature causes
some of the alterations in gameplay, and thanks to all the people who
emailed me about the glitches!
______________________________________
#1 PAL Leona's C Throw
______________________________________
What it does: Leona's stab doesn't work :-(
Who it affects: Leona
Discovered by: Nova
Confirmation: Yagami-sama
How to do it: In 50Hz mode, Leona's C throw makes them flop down
to the ground and take no damage, as opposed to launching them
all the way across the screen.
Why it works: Knowing the difference between 50Hz and 60Hz games on
PAL television, this is probably a timing error.
______________________________________
#2 PAL Crystal Bit
______________________________________
What it does: See other Crystal Bit glitch
Who it affects: Athena
Discovered by: Nova
Confirmation: Yagami-sama, Krusan
How to do it: Unlike the NTSC version, where you have to mash kinda
to get it to come out, all you have to do is just TAP the button
when doing the Crystal Bit instead of holding it down. MUCH
easier! In fact, it's so easy now, you can just do it over and
over to get more than one. In training mode, you can just keep
doing it with the unlimited bar until you have as many as you
want around you. So many so, that you can apparently crash the
game.
Why it works: Another timing glitch?
______________________________________
#3 English voices even when set to Japanese
______________________________________
What it does: Makes the voices be English even when set to Japanese
Who it affects: Alba
Discovered by: Nova
Confirmation: None yet
How to do it: Whenever you load a save from the memory card the
voices will ALWAYS speak English no matter what language
setting. To fix this all you have to do is switch the language
toggle back and forth if it's set to Japanese when loaded.
Why it works: ???
