"Like taking nuclear candy from a robot baby...forcefully."
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, the third in a series of great games. This series has advanced and improved the platformer genre more and more with each release. Each game with it's clever humor and fast pace. This review will rate each category ( Graphics, Gameplay, etc. ) on a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest, one being the lowest.
To avoid spoilers, I'm just gonna say that this game manages to do the whole "Bad guy with a vengeance out to destroy the world" bit like it's brand new. The humor keeps it fresh, with hilarious scenes that never get old. It's interesting, funny, and keeps you addicted to the very end. Definitely deserving of a nine on the scale.
The best part about the whole game is the way it redefines and improves the genre. "Strafe, Shoot, duck for cover" doesn't apply only to shooters. The constant addition of new weapons and gadgets opens multiple ways to get through a level. See an enemy sitting on a ledge? Hmm...Snipe him with your Flux Rifle, or run in with your Nitro Launcher to cause mass destruction? This game adds multiplayer to the series, both online and offline, to cause hours of fun with friends. Ten out of Ten.
The music in this series has always stood out to me. It's different, catchy, and keeps the pace of the level. The explosions and numerous gun sounds are all varied and appropriate. The sound in this game is very atmospheric. Nine out of Ten.
This game is a little shorter than the other two, but that's to be expected when they pack a multiplayer game in. It can be completed in about 13 hours, but there's still numerous extras and bonuses to keep you busy. Eight out of Ten.
Titanium Bolts, Statues, Skill Points, Skins, Challenge mode, are all included to keep you coming back after you've beaten the single player game. Working for one hundred percent in this game is no cake walk, with all the hidden items and mini games. This can easily take up to six more hours, if you take your time. Ten out of Ten.
This game is well worth the forty dollars. An absolute must have for any PS2 gamer. This game is also compatible with the Playstation 2 Network Adaptor for online play. This brings the challenge to a whole new level, now that you are facing the minds of other human beings. ~Dashmage
