"2 Words: Absolutly Incredible"
For those new to the Ratchet & Clank series, I just have to ask you. Where the heck have you been the past 2 years? But seriously, the 3rd installment of the series will really blow you away. What I consider the best of them yet, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal improves on nearly every asspect of Going Commando and the original. Take a look....
As always, the gameplay is awesome. The weapons are obviously the best part of it all. In this game, Insomniac decided to take an obsure approuch on the weapons this time around, and made some strange, not your-every day-gun, the Plasma Whip, Infector, and Rift Inducer for instance. This in fact really makes the weaponry a lot more fun. Also, the level of difficulty has been improved severely. Now instead of just easily walking through the levels like in GC,you have to fight off hoards of tough enimes.Sometimes you might even end up dying. And finally, the levels. The planets in this game are about the same as in Going Commando (this does not mean that they look alike in appearence), but this is in fact a good thing. And although Jak fanboys will not admit it, there is a lot of new stuff in the game.Alltogether this makes for the great Ratchet & Clank gameplay everyones grew to know and love.
Well the good news is is that the story in UYA is better then in GC. There is actually a true villan this time in Dr. Nefarious, and Ratchet actually has a personality this time around. You also have some allies this time besides a bumbbling Lombax girl. The only sad part about the story is that Infobots are missing. This turns out to be ok though since this is the funniest game in the series (which means its incredibly funny).
Square Enix fans will not be inpressed here, but everybody else will. For an animation at least, the graphics are superb. Te Characters are highly detailed and look really nice in the cinemas. The backrounds are beautiful, as usual, and nearly everything is breakable. The environments are also looking great, like the Florana Jungle for example. Insomniac was able to adress everything perfectly, as usual.
Offline- Not great.
If your really looking forward to the multiplayer in this game, I strongly suggest you have a network adapor to go with it. Offline multiplayer is sad with no real excitement and boring gameplay. Online mode though packs all the action you'll need. The Clan system works perfectly for this genre, and the modes are all awesome. These include Seige, Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag, all of which, are good. But dont get this for offline multiplayer. If you do, you will have made a poor descion. But trust me, online makes up for all of offlines crappyness.
It should be illegal to own a PS2 and not have this game.
