"Don't be fooled, there's a masterpeice under it all"
Finally, a new Gauntlet for the fans to play. What's this? It's different? Someone call the cops and get the fan boys away!
The graphics are overall improved. The animations run smoothly, and no slowdowns at all. The graphical system is very close to that of Jade Empire. With all the enemies on the screen, it does get quiet hard to see though.
The story is basic. A story of betrayal and mistaken thoughts. The four classes (Warrior,Wizard,Elf,Valkyrie) were betrayed by the king, because the king's council members spoke bad of them. This leads onto the Seven Sorrows
Well, the game has very decent music. The game play sound is pretty much the noises of screaming and metal clashing together. The game does come fit with a "voice over" announcer who announcer's current events (Example: Red Wizard is about to die.) They also included classic Gauntlet music and sound effects.
Game play 9/10
Where the game mainly shines. Instead of that boring hold down the fast button system, they use an actual game play engine. Each class has different combo's,and spells which you can purchase at the end of each level. For example, the Wizard can cast a large nova, and a meteor type spell. Each class starts with one spell, and the other three can be bought! The game lasts about 5-6 hours on normal, and that's not saying enough. A friend and I beat the game on normal, and now we're going back through it on the impossible difficulty, which is actually quiet impossible! The game's enemies attack you in large groups and the A.I is always on their toes!
No score here simply because there isn't anything to unlock, sadly.
The game is fantastically fun. It's worth a buy if your new to the series or daring to play something new. If your a hardcore fan boy of the old Gauntlet, you might be upset. The game is a blast in multiplayer, as it was built for. Single player is alright, but it's a lot more fun having buddies to kill things beside you!
