Would you like to hear one?" - Ask. - No, thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ############## Introduction ############## Thank you for reading my guide. This guide is to help players who want to hear all the tales told by the Minstrel in the game but not sure what to do. It is possible to hear all the tales told by the Minstrel in the same playthrough. However, if you want to get them all in one game, you should be at least on your third playthrough, because the tale "Schirach's Shiny Ring" required at least three playthroughs to hear, and the tale "Mirsa and Aldora (1) & (2)" required at least two. Moreover, some of the tales required you to finish a specific step during a quest in the game, which can be hard for players new to the game. If you are having difficulties on fulfulling the requirments, please refer to Eleinia's FAQ/Walkthrough for more information. All tales listed below and most of the requirements information here were originally obtained from Ramtieger's Game System FAQ, Section RS100. Based on that and my experience on the game, it is my intent to specify them so they become more detail. All tales are listed in the order they will appear in the game's quest notes: * Yucomb's Statues * Eugen and the Shield * Heroes of Gods at War * A Tale of Death * Giants and Auldburg * Shirach's Shiny Ring * Thieves of the Kingdom * Julius and the Library * The Fate of the Keep * Marks of Bravery * A Devilish Deal * Road to Repentence * Upright Gecklings * Strom and a Kjar Maiden * The Opal and the Pirate * Lords of the Elements * Mirsa and Aldora (1) & (2) * Island on the Inner Sea * The Legendary Lake * A Tale of the Butcher * The Zealots of Saruin * Eugen and the Dragon * Three Gods of Evil Each tale is presented in the following format: ================ Name of the tale ================ Towns: - Towns you can hear the tale from the Minstrel. They dreat that someday they would crawl up from the sea and visit the land. Yucomb grudgingly granted their wish, and allowed his beloved daughters to visit the dry realm above. He bade them return to the sea ere the sunset, and his three daughters so promised. Everything was new on the land, and before they knew it, dusk was upon them. They fulfilled their promise and returned to the sea, but the next day they pleaded to go again. And so each day the three daughters ventured above, and before nightfall went back to the safety of the sea without fail. They spent many days exploring this new world without incident. But on the tenth day, they came upon three brothers fishing. The fishermen became friends with the daughters, and they enjoyed each other's company. Suddenly, one of the daughters looked back. And to her horror, she saw the sun dipping beneath the horizon. So the three daughters departed in great haste. But they were too late. As soon as the last light of the sun melted away, their legs returned to their true shapes. The brothers were not far behind, and to their surprise, they saw the daughters with great tailfins flowing. The daughters, overcome with shame, cried out to Yucomb. "O Father, please turn us into stone!" Yucomb heard the plea of his beloved daughters and granted their wish. All three of them were suddenly transformed into tiny statues. The brothers picked up the statues and cried out in anguish. In their sorrow, they returned the statues to Yocomb's realm beneath the sea. Afterward, the brothers were blessed with full nets, and they lived the rest of their lives in happiness. _______________________________________________________________________________ Here in Northpoint they say that when an object is caught in your nets, you should return it to the sea and pray to Yucomb for a good catch. <<< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeMBr5mTfAo >>> ==================== Eugen and the Shield ==================== Towns: - Mirsaburg - Weiserheim Requirements: - Hear the tale "Three Gods of Evil" from the Minstrel. They both set out to stop Saruin once and for all together. But the night before the battle, Misa told him: "One must remain behind in order to build the world anew after Saruin's fall. And you are a much better leader than I." Eugen became angry and sullen. He refused. But in the end, Mirsa and his comrades convinced him that it was best that he stay behind. Eugen solemnly offered his shield to Mirsa, and said to him: "In my place, may this shield protect you from harm." After the climactic battle between Mirsa and Saruin, Eugen visited the place where they had fought, but found only his shield and Mirsa's belongings remaining. Eugen brought back Mirsa's last possessions. Inspired by Mirsa's bravery, he founded the Knights Dominion. _______________________________________________________________________________ You know, Baron Eugen, First Lord of Eugenstadt Castle, founded the Knights Dominion. <<< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0VCK446Ahk >>> ===================== Heroes of Gods at War ===================== Towns: - Any town Requirements: - Reach ER 20 or above and have 200 or more favor with Elore. He had to triumph in many battles and slowly earn people's trust long before anyone thought of him as a hero. Then the gods finally chose him to face Saruin once and for all. They invited him to a place on the Steppes of Galessa called the Sun's Altar. The altar led to the land where the trials of Elore were awaiting him. Mirsa completed the trials splendidly and, thereafter known as the Silver Warrior, boldly went forth to face Saruin in battle. Mirsa and his comrades heroically fought Saruin and banished him from this world. But their strength was utterly spent. Elore guided their spirits to the heavens. And Mirsa the Silver Warrior and his four comrades became stars shining in the nights. _______________________________________________________________________________ I've heard about a place called the Sun's Altar out on the Steppes of Galessa. <<< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoAKs-9jCEs >>> =============== A Tale of Death =============== Towns: - Any town Requirements: - Reach ER 20 or above, have less than 200 favor with Elore and have 200 or more favor with either Death, Saruin, or Shirach. But after a time, these gods of old began to quarrel, and the giants fought each other in the name of one god or another. And when the wars of the gods at long last ceased, only a few giants still lived. People say that the remaining giants still dwell in a place hidden deep in the Khalam Mountains. _______________________________________________________________________________ East of the village of Uso there lie the ruins of a castle far too big to have been built by men. <<< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-Lc2UqFLe0 >>> ===================== Schirach's Shiny Ring ===================== Town: - Any town Requirements: - You must be at least on your third playthrough. Schirach decided that she had enough of fighting, so she relented, but with some conditions. Elore agreed to her demands, and placed the diamond ring upon her finger. And when its power of light met her power of shadow, they extinguished each other, and her dark magic faded. _______________________________________________________________________________ They say that after Schirach lost her powers, she became a mortal woman and drifted aimlessly. <<< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73KZQuWYpJ0 >>> ====================== Thieves of the Kingdom ====================== Towns: - South Estamir Requirements: - Receive the request from the leader of the Assassins' Guild during the quest "The Assassins' Guild". Some say his name was Eoti, while others say it was Nula. One night, he stole the Amethyst of Visions from the palace. Through the power of the Fatestone, his guild of thieves grew so powerful that they ruled Estamir's underworld. But the kingdom grew weak, and soon fell to the might of Kjaraht. _______________________________________________________________________________ It's a clever tale that connects the kingdom, a Fatestone, and the thieves' Guild. <<< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deQHV-o6FGw >>> ====================== Julius and the Library ====================== Towns: - Melvir Requirements: - Reach ER 9 or above. A magnificent palace was built at the capital of Melvir, but the Empire's rule was in disarray. Those in office rules as they pleased, and the people were unhappy. That was when a man named Julius Iuvanus came to Melvir. He would later become the first chancellor of the Empire. Julius Iuvanus reformed the laws of the Empire, and, to eliminate corruption, made sure its official obeyed them. He dedicated his eighty years of life to the law. One morning, after writing an edict to protect abandoned children, he passed away. But another of Julius's accomplishments was not discovered until soon after his death. Found in his residence was a vast collection of ancient books gathered from all over the world. Many had been thought lost during the battles with Saruin. And so the Imperial Library was constructed to house the great collection. Thanks to Julius Iuvanus and his gifts of laws and knowledge, much progess came to the Empire. _______________________________________________________________________________ I wonder what sort of man Julius was... <<< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBhmek0q0RE >>> ==================== The Fate of the Keep ==================== Towns: - Altours - Loban Requirements: - Talk to Prince Neidhart in Crystal Palace with Albert in your party. But during the feast, an army of wicked creatures attacked and caught the revelers by surprise. The monstrous horde stormed the keep, and the soldiers fought desperately. Rudolf, the lord of the Isthmus, led many charges and soaked his blade in the blood countless enemies. But, arrows spent and blades broken, the defenders of the keep fell to the invaders. Alas, Lord Rudolf and his entire garrison met their deaths in battle that night. Yet his two children were never found. Their centurion, Rosa Reimann, kept the emperor safe from harm for many years. Upon reaching the age of thirty, she retired from the legion. Once, the emperor spied on her as she changed out of her uniform. Unlike the beautiful skin of the other maidens, hers was marred by uncountable scars both deep and shallow from many battles, truly a badge of courage. The emperor was overcome with shame, for he then realized how bravely this woman had fought to protect him. He decided to grant Rosa a fief of her own. And to his surprise, she chose the Crystal Lake, which was outside the empire's borders. The emperor was moved by her selflessness so much that he decided to bestow upon her a Fatestone: the Aquamarine. _______________________________________________________________________________ And so it is said that the Aquamarine came into the possession of the Rosalian royal family. Only then will I know you truly are who you calim to be." The devil spent only one night to construct the castle. The king was amazed, but he was also pleased to obtain another castle. The king spoke: "you truly are the devil, but I wish for nothing more. Begone!" But the devil replied, "you are a wise king indeed. The castle is now yours." To atone for his crimes, he set out to build great roads across every continent so that travelers could walk in safety. And so it is said that in the days before the battle against Saruin, the world had many roads. The man began his work by laying a road brick by brick out of Northpoint. Over the next twenty long years, he laid bricks each day until his last. And by then his project had inspired a great throng of followers to gather and help him. His road stretched all the way from Northpoint to Estamir, and then far beyond Estamir out to the frontier. Then she cast herself into the water. Soon a great serpent leapt out and said, "Your wish is granted. Here may you be safe." One of them was the warrior maiden Aldora. Aldora had endured a difficult childhood and found it hard to make friends. But Mirsa treated her kindly. She tried with all her might to be of help to Mirsa. And soon Aldora became aware that she possessed a remarkable gift: the gift of magic. Unfortunately for her, she was already considered too old to receive a proper schooling in the magical arts. So, without the proper training to control her powers, she was always slowing down Mirsa. Of their entire group, only Mirsa was still kind to her. On the eve of Mirsa's final confrontation with Saruin, he ordered Aldora to stay behind with Baron Eugen. Eugen was furious that Mirsa treated him in the same manner as Aldora. Aldora pleaded to go with Mirsa, but the others told her she would only hinder their efforts in battle. Baron Eugen obeyed Mirsa's bidding, but Aldora could not force herself to stay behind. She followed Mirsa and his comrades. Each time Mirsa spotted her, he told her to leave. But every time Aldora turned back, soon thereafter she returned to follow them again. Suddenly the enemy attacked from the front and the rear, and Mirsa's company fought furiously. One of Mirsa's warriors advised, "Let us ask Aldora to guard the rear." Mirsa refused. He knew what destiny awaited Aldora should she fight. The warrior argued, "But you are charged with defeating Saruin. We need her help." So Mirsa was forced to relent. Aldora was overjoyed to finally be of use to Mirsa. He reluctantly gave her this last gift and then set out. They never saw each other again. Aldora fought valiantly for Mirsa so that he would be able to win his final battle with Saruin. But alas, the flame of Aldora's life did not burn for very long.
