1. INTRODUCTION

This is an FAQ and walkthrough for the PS2 RPG Tales of Legendia. Tales
of Legendia is the latest game in Namco's Tales of Series, although it
is not made by Namco's Tales Studio division, making it somewhat different
from previous games such as Tales of Rebirth and Tales of Symphonia.
Tales of Legendia has been confirmed for a US release; as of yet no
official release date for the US has been set.

One of the new things that you get when you start the second portion of
the game (the Character Quests) is the Sorcery Scanner. This device lets
you, by pressing L2, check your immediate surroundings for hidden objects.
In this way you can get treasures that you wouldn't be able to get
otherwise. There aren't just treasures though - you can also run into
certain special hidden 'rare monsters' using the Scanner. There rare monsters
are often silly or funny monsters (like the Shrimp Tempura monster) and
sometimes they drop joke weapons or equipment as well. It costs nothing
to use the Scanner, so you should use the Scanner quite often to scan
suspicious-looking areas. Still, it takes time, and therefore I've made
up this checklist of all the Scanner locations in the game so that you
can follow it along as you go.

The only website authorized to post this FAQ is www.gamefaqs.com. If
you see this document elsewhere, not only are they posting without my
permission, but they likely do not have the most current version of
this FAQ. Emails to me asking questions already answered in the FAQ,
even if the answers are not in the version you are reading, will be
deleted without response.

2. CHECKLIST
This checklist is ordered in the manner in which you would come across
these places as you proceed in the game. It's meant to be the most
convenient organization for you to look at rather than separating the
rare monsters, rare treasures, and normal treasures into three separate
lists. So feel free to print it out and cross each entry off as you go
along.
No, you don't HAVE to get these in order. You can go back and get things
you missed, and you could actually get most of these as soon as you get
the Sorcery Scanner. This list is just for those of you who keep track
as you're going along (you will come across every spot EVENTUALLY, so
going as early as you can is somewhat redundant).

CHARACTER QUESTS - INTRODUCTION
------------------------------------------------------------

FALLINGWATER
o You'll receive a 'tutorial' of sorts as you enter Fallingwater, where
you'll automatically find (in a cutscene) the 'Bow Key' key item (that
opens the Bow Cottage at the tip of the Legacy) and the rare monster
'Rare Lizardman'.
o Rare Monster #1: Wonder Bread Lizard (near the area where you first
encountered Mimmy). He drops a Bat (weapon for Chloe, ATK +360, AIM+50).
o Elixir (under the tree near the save point).

3. EXTRA NOTES

RARE MONSTERS
Kaz, the man who lives in the house on the same screen as the save spot on
the west side of Werites, will give you hints as to the rare monster
locations. He says he's one of Aifread's crew and he has Aifread's notes
on the rare monsters. If you keep returning to him as the game progresses,
he'll decipher more and more hints as to the locations of the rare monsters.
However, you do not need to talk to him to find the monsters - he's only
there for the hints. Also, he does not tell you about EVERY rare monster.
If you find and defeat all of the rare monsters he tells you about (he
tells you about 8 of the 19 rare monsters) and return to him in Jay's quest
(after the last hint is available), he will give you Aifread's Hat, and
Moses will receive the title 'Pirate'.
If you defeat all of the rare monsters, Will receives the title 'Rare
Monster Master'.

RARE TREASURES
In the northwest part of Werites you'll find a large house with a red roof.
Inside you'll find Yuri, the daughter of a nobleman, and Kerel, a
treasure hunter. Yuri's father has forbidden Kerel from marrying Yuri,
unless he can find one of the legendary artifacts - the Blue Sephira.
When you talk to Yuri during the Character Quests, he'll notice that
you have the Sorcery Scanner. He'll give you hints on locations to check
for certain rare treasures. He tells you that you can keep anything that
isn't the Blue Sephira. Like the Rare Monsters, you don't ever need to
talk to him to actually get the Rare Treasures, though - he's just there
to give you hints, plus you see a special event when you do bring him
the Blue Sephira (in the end, you get to keep it anyway).
