I) Astaroth
=====================================================================
Astaroth is your typical slow-but-powerful character (hey, you need at
least one in every fighting game, come on). Although his history isn't
incredibly interesting, the fact that he's a god makes you wonder why he
can be easily beaten.

--------------------------------------------------------------
A) Character Profile
--------------------------------------------------------------

Age: Recently Ressurected, but 7 years since then
Birthplace: Heretical order Fygul Cestemus/ The Grand Shrine of Palgaea
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 287 lbs
Birth Date: September 3
Blood Type: None
Weapon: Giant Ax
Weapon Name: Kulutues
Discipline: Gyulkus

Family:
Servants of Ares, the god of war

After reviving, Astaroth set out again to locate the
whereabouts of Soul Edge in order to offer it before
Ares, the god of destruction and war.

The leader of the evil cult and Astaroth's creator, the
grand priest Kunpaetku, realized that his servant was
not acting as instructed and cast a controlling curse
  on Astaroth from the temple.

But with the fragments of the cursed sword and the
power of Ker, the agent of death, Astaroth resisted
  the curse.

To Astaroth, the cult was now nothing more than an
obstacle in his path. The monster returned to the
temple of his birth and became a whirlwind of
  destruction.

Pursued into the deepest part of the temple by
Astaroth, the grand priest escaped at the last moment,
  leaving behind these words:

"You failure! You may have been modeled after a
human, but in the end, you're nothing more than a doll!"

Astaroth could not believe what he heard. At those
words, Astaroth began searching through the crumbling
temple and eventually learned that he had been
created in the image of someone known as the 'white
  gaint.'

After utterly destroying the structure, Astaroth
thought to himself. His model, this 'white giant,' must
surely be the most powerful soul in the world. He
would offer up that soul as a sacrifice to the cursed
  sword.

His giant form began to move. He had chosen his next
  objective.

Astaroth himself did not realize the hidden desire
within him to destroy the white giant so that he could
become complete--a unique being with no model.

D) Attack Chains
--------------------------------------------------------------
Wanna have some horrible fun with your miniature sized opponents? Well,
this section should help. Below is a collection of the most brutal combos
Astaroth has to offer (that I've found).

TAKE NOTE: All this is done using a normal weapon

dd+B (l), q+r B+G (100)

l+K K, rl B+G, q+r B+G (151)

B+r K, l+A+B (106)

l+(B), d+l+A+G, r+K, rl (A+G) (198)

rr+(K), against airborne A+G (115)

rr+A B, against airborne A+G (115)

ll+(B), d+l+B+G, r+K, rl (A+G) (236)

B (B), q+r B+K, q+r B+G (264)

with Soul Edge: rr+A B, against airborne q+r+B+G, l+(A+B) (247)

=====================================================================
II) Tales of Souls
=====================================================================
This is a very useful section of the guide, showing the bends and turns
in Astaroth's amazingly cruddy path arrangement. Astaroth gave me the
most trouble out of any character by way of finding the conditions to
some of the spin offs. There's one I couldn't even find at all, but since
it is a trivial battle I think you can do without it.

BBB) Frequently Asked Questions
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Why can the computer block gauranteed hits?

A: Because they're lame... that's it.

Q: Is it just me or does it seem like the computer will block whatever
move you've ever used up to his point?

A: Unfortunately yes, the computer will adapt to your fighting style,
especially if you use the same moves over and over again.

Q: Why does it feel like sometimes enemies, like Tira, are harder to kill in
the beginning of the game than at the end, like Abyss?

A: Because the game gives the computer a random handicap on its difficulty,
your first enemy could be set on Easy and the next on Extremely Hard.
