"Snake Eater returns in the best upgrade in the Metal Gear Series"
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, released in 2004, was one of the best games in the Metal Gear Series. So now they created an upgraded version of Snake Eater called Subsistence. This 2 disc game (3 if you bought the limited edition) includes many extras that Snake Eater did not have.
Disc 1 is the same Snake Eater game but with the new 3rd Person view camera along with Demo Theater that allows you to watch all the cut scenes in the game. The new 3rd Person View Camera gives you a good view of your surroundings with is very useful.
Disc 2 includes new features not in Snake Eater such as Online Multi-player Mode, Duel Mode, the Snake vs Monkey mini game with new stages, Secret Theater, and the two original MSX2 Metal Gear games, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
If you got Disc 3 in the limited edition, you will get a 3.5 hour Snake Eater movies with new cut scenes. Disc 3 also includes the first official Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailer.
The gameplay is awesome! Metal Gear Solid 3 is easy to jump to because of its survival based gameplay such as camouflage and eating. The new third person view camera helps make it easier to get a good view of your surroundings so it could help find enemies. Since the two MSX2 Metal Gear games are on a old system, the gameplay isn't as good as Metal Gear Solid 3 but the gameplay is still good because of its birds eye view of the enemy. The Metal Gear Solid 3 gameplay is used in the online multi-player mode which is excellent.
The graphics in Metal Gear Solid 3 is excellent! The graphics make a TV look so clear! As for the original MSX2 Metal Gear games, the graphics aren't that good. The graphics are still impressive.
The games sound is excellent! You can here the soundtrack very nicely and the music sounds nice! They sound much better there the soundtrack from Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 2 combined!
The controls are excellent in this game! It is easy to get used of all the controls such as shooting or using the third person view camera. However, if you have played different shooter games, the controls might take a while to get used to it. The controls are still easy to get used to even if you played other shooter games.
This game is worth buying and keeping. It only costs 30 dollars (40 if you get the limited edition). This game is a definite collectors item because it ties the story of Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 2, this game is the best game in the Metal Gear Saga, and provides the most complete game package of any Metal Gear release to date. This is a definite must buy collectors item. However, if you don't like this game, then you should hold out until Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which will come out in 2007 on the Play Station 3 console.
