"You think your school day is bad?"
Most people think that being the new transfer student is hard. Usually it is. But what happens when not only do you have to put up with the everyday hassles of school and being a normal 17 year-old student, but also having to commit suicide every night to help save the world? You get one awesome game.
The first time you summon your Persona, you yourself fell a surge of power. With a mere pull of your Evokers Trigger, you can face down the Shadows. The reason they exist is unknown, but what is known is that they cause a sickness among the non-Persona users, causing them to become apathetic, and come from the mysterious Tartarus Tower.
Tartarus appears during the Dark Hour, the hidden hour between 12am and 12:01am. When the clock strikes the Dark Hour, you new school turns into a tower monolith, the apparent source of the Shadow mince. You main mission is to scale the tower, but with each floor you climb, the mystery only deepens.
The battle system is the standard turn-base but nothing else would allow this game to reach its full potential. Every time you meet a new Shadow you can scan them, learning weakness's, and then change your Persona accordingly. If you are able to exploit the enemies weakness you can knock them down and attack yet again, and by knocking them all down you get to use the entire party for an All-Out Attack, deal an extreme amount of damage.
If you think the Shadows are bad, you friends will give you a run for you money. By establishing social links you can increase you Personas' power, however you say one thing wrong, your friend will become angered with you causing an adverse affect on you other self. And what you do during you off time can increase you Charm, Academics, or Courage all affecting how you interact with the people in school and about town.
But the best part of this world is it combination of 3D art and a anime overlay. As you walk the world it is in a beautiful 3D surrounding, but when you engage a cut scene it morphs into a beautiful look that makes you wonder if you yourself are part of this world. And during an All-Out Attack, the screen fills with a a cloud of dust with BAM! WHAM! and the assortment, that will have you chuckling under you breath.
If you own a Playstaion 2 or 3, there is no reason to not play this game.
Become one with your true self.
