"A very fun game with an excitaing idea!"
Battle Stadium: D.O.N is simply an anime fan's dream come true for a game!(For the most part anyway.) Sure, this game has it's flaws and short-comings, but it doesn't take away the fun factor of the blend of character from their respective animes(DBZ, One Piece, Naruto). And of course, let us not forget the 4-player-capable multiplayer, which is loads of fun! The "Extras" in this game aren't the greatest things to spend time on to unlock(Do it anyway!), it is worth it for the "hidden" characters! Who wouldn't want to play as Trunks, Gaara, Cell, and the others?
Very nice 3-D characters, especially with the soon-to-be outdated hardware both the Gamecube and PS2 have now. The 2-D backgrounds work just fine too.
Excellent sound-effects, and great music soundtrack to boot! Doesn't sidetrack you like some fighting games do with obnoxious background noises, or ghastly character voice overs. Every character has his/her original voice from their respective anime show, which is really cool.
The only really flaw I see with the game. Needs tighter controls, easier character playabilty, better and more improved "Burst" system, more moves for the characters, and a battle system where someone gets "K.O'ed" for real. More characters would be nice as well of course. This is all something the developers can add onto to future Battle Stadium titles if they make any. (Which I heard they have plans on doing! ;-D)
If you love the idea of Rock Lee vs. Vegeta, Goku vs. Luffy, or any other type of anime match-up, then this game is for you! And ignore the bad critics with their comparisions with SSBM and other fighting games. This game wasn't MEANT to be a SSBM, DBZ Budakai, or anything else for that matter. Just get and play the game for what it is, an awesome anime smash-fest!
