    1. Introduction

    ===============================================================================

Hello, and welcome to my Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes move list and basic gameplay
guide - in fact, welcome to my first guide ever.

Here you will find a complete list of romanized names for all of the skills
in the game, some explanation of what they do, what properties they have and
what changes they suffer upon a level up. In the future, I plan on adding more
specific information such as range and cooldown, and also English translations
    for the skills' names.

For the time being, though, this guide won't offer strategies involving
the use and setup of these skills nor will suggest setups for the various
situations you might encounter during the course of the game.

For more specific information about the game you can check the excellent
guides already available in the FAQs section.

So sit back and enjoy. I had a great time working on this, and I really hope
it helps you on your journey to become the number one of Sengoku Jidai.

This is a work in progress, so please feel free to mail me with suggestions
    and the like.

And yes, my English is terrible.

    2. Gameplay Basics

    ===============================================================================

In the skill's descriptions I mention a lot a things, from buttons to specific
terms, so I'd better explain all of them now. If you're already familiar with
the game's controls and mechanics, please move on to the next section.

    ---------------------

    2a. Controls

For this guide, I'm using the basic buttons setup the game offers, which is:

    Square: Normal attacks
    Triangle: Special skills
    Circle: Basara Skills
    X: Jump

    R1: Defense/Parry/Reset camera
    R2: Reset camera
    L1: Change equipped skill
    L2: Sengoku Drive

    Start: Pause game
    Select: Taunt

Note that this can be changed in the options menu. Even if you don't
understand japanese, you can refer to The Giant Hoeruo's translation guide
    for directions.

    ---------------------

    2b. In-game mechanics and terms

Special Skill: The ones being explained in this guide. Used by default with
the triangle button. You can equip two of them for each stage.
    Has no activation cost.

Basara Skill: A special attack activated with the circle button. In order to
use it, you must fill the Basara gauge, the blue bar located below the Life
gauge. While the characters is performing his or her Basara Skill, he/she
becomes invincible. Activating your Basara Skill while in Sengoku Drive
results in a Extreme Basara Skill, that deals more damage.

They also have some particularities depending on the mode you're playing:
    - In Tournament, Conquest, Story and Free modes, the enemies can't block
but can (and will) dodge your Basara Attacks.
    - In Versus Mode, you can still receive damaging while performing a Basara
Attack, and most of them can be blocked or even parried.

Sengoku Drive (or Battle Drive): A special mode you can enter by pressing
the L2 button, which makes your character almost invincible and powers ups
all of his/her moves. For each 100 enemies you defeat, you gain a Sengoku
Drive level (the maximum being three levels). The higher the level, the
    longer your Drive will last.

Defense: Holding the R1 button makes your character guard. While guarding,
you avoid most of the enemies' attacks, except for bombs. If you take too many
hits while in this state, your defense crumbles and you'll be damaged
    normally.

Evasion: Moving the control stick while defending makes your character do an
evasive jump or roll. This can be made in any of the four directions.

Parry: By pressing the R1 button at the exact time an enemy attacks you,
you'll parry. When you do so, the screen will flash and the enemy will
bounce back, becoming completely vulnerable for a while. Enemies do not
parry your attacks. Note that you can also parry arrows, bullets and
other projectlie attacks, like Matsu's Taroumaru.

Taunt: Pressing the select button makes your character provoke nearby enemies,
and can actually piss them off: bosses will have their Drive gauge filled
faster (and will enter Sengoku Drive if possible) and normal soldier will
attack. The payoff is that, if you do a taunt near any enemy, your Basara
    gauge will fill as well.

    -----------------------

    2c. Elemental Properties

Since the first Sengoku Basara, some of the characters' weapons and skill has
elemental properties. Those grew in SB2, and now there are a total of six
possible elements with different effects. They are:

Fire: Keeps dealing damage to the target for a while, even after the hit
    has landed.

Ice: Freezes the targets, making them incapable of moving for some time.

Darkness: Absorbs life of a killed target, adding it to your own. Note that
the effect is activated only when you KILL the target, not every time
    you DAMAGE it.

Wind: Makes nearby enemies lose balance and attracts them towards you.

Electricity: Causes damage to the enemies that are near the one you've hit.

Light: Makes easier to crumble an enemy defensive stance.

Elemental properties of weapons and skills are shown trough icons placed next
to their names. They're fairly easy to recognize.

    -----------------------

    2d. The Priming System

In SB2 Heroes, Capcom adding the priming system, something that was already
available (albeit in a different form) in Devil Kings.

Basically, hitting an enemy with a priming skill makes them takes an
additional hit for the remainder of the priming state. You know an enemy
has been primed by looking at his life bar - yellow, in opposition to the
normal white. The priming state only lasts a few seconds, so you need
to try and hit primed enemies as much as you can.

Priming skills have their names written with yellow borders. Here in this
guide, they are signalized with a "(P)".

    ===============================================================================

    3. Character's Moves List

    ===============================================================================

    Keys for reading the list:

    NAME OF THE CHARACTER

    Romanized name of the skill
    Description: What the skill does
On Level Up: That changes the skill suffer when it (not the character) levels
    up.
If there are no changes, it will be signed with a "--"

    (P) = Priming Skills
    (F) = Fire
    (I) = Ice
    (D) = Darkness
    (W) = Wind
    (E) = Electricity
    (L) = Light

    3.1 MAEDA KEIJI

    Koi Tsudzuri

Description: Keiji swirls his sword around himself, hitting and juggling
enemies around him. Finishes with a hit forward, launching the foes. You
can keep mashing the triangle button for added hits.
On Level Up: The number of possible hits rise.

    Oshi no Itte (P)

Description: A heavy forward attack that break shields and launch enemies
far away. If you keep holding the triangle button, he will jump after
the enemies in the air, and you continue hitting them with normal attacks
On Level Up: The number of hits rise.

    Ukiyo no Koi (P)

Description: Keiji launches nearby enemies in the air. If you hold the
triangle button, he will jump after them and start pounding with his sword.
On Level Up: The number of possible hits rise.

    Hitomebore

Description: Keiji fuses the holding edge of his sword with its sheath,
and then delivers a huge blow forwards.
    On Level Up: --

    Koi no Kakehiki (P)

Description: A series of hits that connect with each other. In other
to continue the skill, you have to press the triangle button at the right
time - when the flower symbol appears at the low part of the screen. You
can cancel any part of Keiji's normal combo string (or his taunt or basara
skill) into this skill, and it will change depending on when you do the
cancel. Only some of the hits will prime.
    On Level Up: --

    Koi no Arashi

Description: Keiji charges up and shoots a cyclone that will lift enemies and
keep hitting them. If you hold the triangle button before shooting, the cyclone
    will hit more times.
On Level Up: You can keep charging for longer and make the skill more powerful.

    Yumegokochi

Description: Keiji starts sleeping, which charges his Basara gauge. While doing
this, you can control his little monkey to protect yourself. Getting hit
    cancels the skill.
    On Level Up:

BASARA: "Kokkara ga honban!" ("Now it gets serious!") (W)
Keiji does a powerful sword combo, then combines his huge sword with its
sheath to deliver multiple circular hits.

Obs.: Some people say that there's a bug that can make Keiji's Basara Skill
last for any time you want. Each time you do a taunt, it would add one hit
to the skill. If you do this for some time...

    ======================

    3.2 DATE MASAMUNE

    CRAZY STORM

Description: Masamune continuously hit enemies around him with four swords.

    the enemies forward.

    DEATH FANG (P)

Description: Launch enemies in the air using three swords. If you hold
triangle, Masamune will jump after them and continue hitting.
    On Level Up: --

    JET-X

Description: Masamune hits continuously with both hands and all six swords.
You can mash the triangle button for more blows.
On Level Up: The number of possible hits rises.

Description: Masamune runs forward, doing an electric strike with his swords.
It actually hits two times, and launches the enemies away on the second one.
On Level Up: The skill will hit more times.

    PHANTOM DIVE

forward and delivers one additional blow. Sends enemies flying away.
    On Level Up: --

Description: Masamune enters Rokusouryu state (six swords, no defense,
no evasion) for a short period of time. If enemies are nearby when he pulls
the swords, they are primed. You can also prime enemies by using the
triangle button attack while in the special state.
    On Level Up: --

Obs.: You'll enter Rokusouryu state automatically after the end of his
Basara skills. It only lasts for a while, though.

    HELL DRAGON (E)

Description: An energy bolt that flies a great distance. If you hold triangle,
you can charge it to make it more powerful.
    On Level Up: --

    BASARA: (E)
Masamune does a sword slashing sequence, pulling one blade at a time until
all six are unsheathed. The last blow send nearby enemies flying away, and
you get a "free" Rokusouryu state for a few seconds after it ends.

    ========================

    3.3 KATAKURA KOJUROU

    Gedandzuki (E)

Description: Kojurou sticks one katana to the ground, dealing electric damage
and immobilizing enemies. After that, he swings the other on a circle
    and sends them flying away.
On Level Up: Skill action radius increases; hits more times.

    Sengetsu (E)

Description: Similar to Masamune's Magnum Step, but you can charge it by
    holding the triangle button.
On Level Up: From LV2 on, you can charge the skill, making it stronger.
On LV MAX, you can press the triangle button one more time to deliver another
    blow.

    Gekkou (P)

Description: Kojurou cuts upward, making enemies fly and priming them.
If you keep pressing the triangle button, Kujurou will jump after the enemies,
but if you hit triangle a second time instead, he sill cut downwards and pin
    enemies back to the ground.
    On Level Up: --

    Midare Izayoi

Description: Similar to Masamune's Crazy Storm. Kojurou will hit nearby
enemies multiple times and send them flying away with the last blow. You
can keep mashing the triangle button to make the skill hit more times.
On Level Up: The number of possible hits rises.

    Oboro Zangetsu

Description: Kojurou starts meditating. If you press triangle again, he will
teleport to the back of the enemies that are in front of you and deal great
damage. If you wait for Kojuro to sheathe his sword and sit completely, the
blow will kill almost any enemy instantly. It does not, though, cause any
decent damage to armored giants. While meditating, the Basara gauge will
    fill up gradually.
    On Level Up: --

    Narukami (E)

Description: Similar to Masamune's Hell Dragon. Shoots a lightning bolt
    towards the enemies.
On Level Up: You can press the triangle button more times for added hits.

    Mudzuki Gokusatsu (P)

Description: Enters Gokusatsu state for a 15 seconds. Like Masamune's
Rokusouryu, Gokusatsu makes Kojurou stronger and changes his main
combo string, but makes him incapable of blocking or dodging. Note that
only the "flash" that happens when you activate this skill counts as a
    prime attack.
    On Level Up: --

Obs.: You can still enter Gokusatsu state "normally" by holding the square
button. The difference is, while using the proper skill makes him go mad
instantly, you will have to keep holding square for a while before the skill
activates. There are three possible charging levels that will make him stay
in this state during, 5, 10 and 15 seconds. It is worth noting that you can
hold the square button while doing almost anything, incluing the Basara
    Skill animation.

    BASARA: (E)
Kojuro does a short range sword combo and finished with a big electric blow
that sends enemies flying away. It can be a little tricky with the handling
though, since in the middle of it it seems like he is "dancing" or hitting
the targets trough his sides. Anyway, I don't find it too good damage wise.

draewon, from the GameFAQs boards, says: "even though its pretty weak, its
pretty lenghty for a basara attack, which is the best way to charge his
gokusatsu in the heat of battle,i think you can get a full charge if you
press the square button a while before you start the basara,i maybe that's
why capcom made his basara so difficult to hit".

    So there.

    ==========================

    3.4 SANADA YUKIMURA

    Senryo Hanabi (F)

Description: Yukimura gives two blows with his spears, than deliver one more
blazing hits, sending enemies flying away. You can hold the triangle button to
charge the power of this last hit.
On Level Up: Charging time shortens.

    Rekka

Description: Yukimura rapidly strikes forward with both spears, and sends
enemies away with the last blow. You can keep mashing the triangle button for
    added hits.
On Level Up: Number of possible hits increase.

    Daisharin (P)

Description: Yukimura does a small jump, spinning both spears. This launches
nearby enemies into the air. If you keep pressing the triangle button, he
    will jump after the enemies.
    On Level Up: --

    Kouen (F) (P)

Description: Yukimura charges and delivers a blazing punch, and delivers
two more blows. You can charge the move to make it more powerful.
On Level Up: Increase the number of hits.

    Suzakushou

Description: Yukimura does a series of forward jumps, hitting the ground
with both spears. Each time you press the triangle button with the right
    timing, he does another jump.
On Level Up: Increase the number of possible jumps.

    Gurenkyaku

Description: Yukimura hits the ground with his spears. If you press the
triangle button continuously, he will grab them and start spin-kicking
he nearby enemies. If you press the square button, he will do a fierce
    somersault kick.
On Level Up: Skill power rises.

    Kaenguruma (F)

Description: Yukimura will start spinning with his spears, damaging nearby
enemies. He starts slow, but the "dance" will speed up with time. If you keep
hitting the triangle button with the right riming (at each of Yukimura's spins)
    the move will continue.
On Level Up: The number of possible spins rises.

BASARA: "Moeyo, waga tamashii!" ("Burn, my spirit!") (F)
Yukimura does a burning spear combo, also short-ranged, that damages every
one around him. The last blow send enemies flying away.

    ===========================

    3.5 TAKEDA SHINGEN

    Hayakikoto Kaze no Gotoku (P)

Description: Shingen will do a spin, creating a tornado and launching nearby
enemies in the air. You can hold the triangle button to make the move last
longer, and is possible to move freely during the spin.
On Level Up: Charging time shortens; adds more hits.

    Shizukaranaru Hayashi no Goktoku

Description: While you're holding the triangle button, Shingen's life gauge
will deplete gradually while your Basara gauge fills.
On Level Up: Life to Basara exchange rate rises.

    Shinryakusuru Hi no Gotoku (F)

Description: Similar to Yukimura's Kouen, but in this case Shingen only deals
the flaming blow, not the entire combo.
    On Level Up: --

    Ugokazarugoto Yama no Gotoku

Description: Shingen hits the ground with his axe, making rock columns rise
continuously from the ground, going forward. This skill cannot be blocked,
and you can charge the triangle button for added range. Enemies will be
    launched in the air.
    On Level Up: --

    Ugokukoto Kaminari no Furuuga Gotoku

Description: A lightning strikes Shingen's side, rising a huge boulder.
He then strikes with his axe, launching it forward.
    On Level Up: --

    Shirigatakikoto Kage no Gotoku

Description: Shingen poses like a bull and then rushes towards enemies,
trampling them. You can keep the triangle button pressed for extra running
    distance.
On Level Up: You can charge the skill for more time, making it more powerful.

BASARA: "Kemono no hoeru ga gotoku!" ("Like a roar of a wild beast!") (F)
Shingen roars, making several meteorites fall from the sky and damage any
enemies in his field of vision. Note that the falling places of the rocks
are completely random, and the initial roar damages nearby foes.
While the meteorites fall you can control Shingen freely.
Using this with his Basara Gauge-refilling skill (Shizukanaru...) makes
this almost unfair, even at stages where Tadakatsu awaits for you.

    ===========================

    3.6 SARUTOBI SASUKE

    Kagetsui no Jutsu

Description: Sasuke launches his weapon forward, then rapidly follows it
    towards the hit enemy.
On Level Up: Number of hits rises.

    Hikiyori no Jutsu (P)

Description: Sasuke launches his weapon, moving it horizontally and then
pulling it back. Hit enemies will be pulled as well.
    On Level Up: --

    Eisen no Jutsu (D) (P)

Description: Sasuke dives underground, moves forward, and then jumps back.
The attack will launch enemies in the air. If you hold the triangle button
    he'll jump after the enemies.
    On Level Up: --

Obs.: You can cancel his skill into his "flying" move by pressing the
jump button while in the air.

    Kumogakure no Jutsu

Description: Sasuke uses a smoke bomb and becomes invisible to enemies.
If there are enemies looking at you the moment you use the skill they will
be blinded and lose sight of you. Does not affect bosses, and will cause
    little damage to enemies nearby.
    On Level Up: --

    Utsusemi no Jutsu (D)

Description: If you hit triangle the moment a enemies land a hit on you,
Sasuke will disappear, reappear on air and deliver a descending strike.
Note that you can Utsusemi from almost any move, except while jumping
or during his Basara Skill. It will deliver one hit to normal soldiers
and from 2 to 3 on machines and some giants.
    On Level Up: --

    Kageate no Jutsu

Description: Sasuke launches a spinning shadow that goes forward and hit
    several times.
    On Level Up: --

    Bunshin no Jutsu

Description: Sasuke creates two shadow clones. Each one count as another
Sasuke, so it will be like you're attacking three times simultaneously.
If you're hit, the clones disappear.
    On Level Up: --

BASARA: "Aite ga warukatta na!" ("You've picked the wrong opponent!")
    (D)

Sasuke creates four shadows that surround him, and then all 5 start to
spin, damaging everyone near. Enemies cought in the center of the skill
will receive more damage, and you can move the whole group of Sasukes
freely during this Basara. Position him well for insane ammounts of
    damage.

    pressing the triangle button again.
    On Level Up: --

Obs.: You cannot use your Basara Skill during Osarachikara. If you're without
your hammer because of Itsuki's Personal Item and activate Basara, she will

    drop money.
    On Level Up: --

    BASARA: "ZA-BEEEEEEEEAM!"
Zabii pulls out a big laser cannon, fire a couple of shots, and then
throws it away. You can change your aim with the directional stick, and
the final throwing part deals damage too.

I really don't know how to use this properly.

draewon, from the GameFAQ boards, says: "simple solution,do not aim at all
when the basara is activated, aim before that, and all 3 hits will connect,
this is one of the most powerful basara in the game, with the sengoku
drive active you can kill pretty much anything onscreen except for maybe
lv3 tadakatsu on komaki nagakute(the final throwing part also hurts a lot
if you manage to hit someone with it),no comment about VS mode yet since
i rarely play as zabii at vs mode,he has awful dueling ability with his
skills(which is pretty slow aside from the bazooka)"

    3.24 AZAI NAGAMASA

    Kizan - Juumonji (L)

You can't activate both upgrades at the same time.
On Level Up: The power-up effects lasts longer.

Obs.: Nagamasa's Personal Item gives him Sousou's sword bonus "for free", but
the effect lasts for only three minutes. While in Tournament Mode, this timer
    resets at every round.

    Mugon - Sokusatsu (L)

Description: Nagamasa does a series of four continuous slashes. To make him
do them all, you have to press the triangle button with the right timing.
You have half a second between each hit.
    On Level Up: --

Obs.: Most people say the timing before tha fourth and last hit is a little
longer than the others. I think they're all the same myself but yeah, the
timing is fairly simple to figure out anyway.

BASARA: "Kagayake, waga tsurugi!" ("Shine, my sword!") (L)
Nagamasa does a sword combo. After several hits, he draws an 'X' of light
in front of him and shoots it forward, damaging everyone on its way.

    them close.

    Umeke Shi no Hana (D)

Description: Similar to Nobunaga's "Shini Itaru Yamai". Nearby enemies
will have their life drained (but yours will keep depleting with time), and
they'll also be frightened, but in order to affect the bigger ones, you
have to hit them a little first.
You can't block, can taunt, and you can't cancel the skill - it only ends
with time, if you die, or if you activate her Basara Skill.
You'll walk slowly and won't be able to block or dodge while the skill is on.
    On Level Up: --

BASARA: "Yurushite ne" ("Please forgive me") (D)
Ichi falls to the ground, stunning nearby enemies.
She then does a naginata combo, and then her "dark tentacles" start hitting
the enemies, pushing them forward. Make sure you have some space in front
of you before activating this skill, or else this last part just won't do
much damage (as there won't be space for the arms to hit).

Obs.: It is worth noting that the effectiveness of "Hirake Ne no Kuni",
"Kitare Ne no Yami", "Umeke shi no Hana" and the Basara Skill depends
on how much life Oichi has left. The nearest she is to death, the
    stronger these attacks will be.

    ==============================

    3.26 HONGANJI KENNYO

    Yakudousuru Taikinmaku

this skill while running, you'll land more hits from the jump momentum, but
will have to wait for Kennyo to get up again. If done while standing still
he will do a jump backwards, eliminating the cooldown.
The kick will send enemies flying away.
    On Level Up: --

    Tokusen Kinnikutama (E) (P)
Description: Honnganji eats a special pill and enters a state where his
attacks will be stronger, his defense will weaken, and he'll move a
little faster. Attacking with the triangle button while in this state will

the moment of the ingestion of the pill primes enemies.
On Level Up: Special state duration gets longer.

    BASARA: (L)
Kennyo launches waves of money to the left, to the right, and then makes an
explosion of coins. Each one of those causes damage to enemies around him.

Obs.: Kennyo's taunt move makes him dig the ground. You can find little sums
of money in random spots of the stage that way.
Obs 2.: Kenno's PI makes him invincible while drinking the Kinnikutama and/or
    recoverning from the dropkick.
    ==============================

    3.27 HOUJO UJIMASA

    Houjoke Hyouketsu Ougi (I) (P)
Description: Ujimasa spins his spear over his head, delivering multiple hits,
and then hits the ground, raising columns of ice. After a while, he pulls
the spear, hitting nearby enemies again. If used while Saikoukyuu is
activated, the time needed for Ujimasa to pull the spear back gets smaller.
On Level Up: The number of ice columns that rise from the ground increases.

BASARA: "Gosenzosama! Hum? Nanja?" ("Honorable Ancestors! Hum? What the?")
Big, ghostly heads of Ujimasa's ancestors starts haunting him and do damage
to everyone around. He'll keep crawling around, so you can take the damage
    with you wherever you go.

Obs.: Ujimasa's PI will make Saikoukyuu last WAY longer. It's almost
    mandatory.

    multiple times.
On Level Up: Number of hits increases; skills lasts longer.

    Kou (W)

foe is on the ground, Fuuma will grab his neck, spin him around and toss
him forward. If he is on air, it turns into a combo that damage only one
enemy. Can also be used to attack airborne enemies.
On Level Up: Skill gets stronger.

    Sen

Description: Fuuma throws a big shuriken forwards.
On Level Up: LV 2 makes it possible to control the movements of the
shuriken with the D-Pad while holding the triangle button. On LV MAX, the
    shuriken gets bigger.

    BASARA: "..."
Kotaro does a couple of hand signs, and then proceed to a fast sword and
kicks combo. In the end of it, he'll pull two huge shurikens (like the ones
you get from the last level of "Sen") and throw them forwards. You can
control the direction of the whole process.

As well pointed in the GameFAQs boards: weakest. freaking. Basara.
Seriously, the big shurikens at the end of it cannot even defeat grunts
    in extreme difficulty.

    =============================

    3.29 IMAGAWA YOSHIMOTO

    Kimagure Ukisen (P)

A mirror ball will drop from the ceiling and, well, Yoshimoto will start
dancing, dealing damage to everyone around him. After the dance, the globe
will stop spinning, sparks will fall to the ground (causing more damage
and attracting nearby enemies), and the ball will fall and explode,
    causing further damage.

    =============================

    3.30 MIYAMOTO MUSASHI

    Nitenichiryu Hissatsu Fukurodataki

times. In the end, he launches himself forwards. Mashing the triangle

    Nitenichiryu Oku no Te

the direction of the stones with the directional button. Mashing the
triangle button makes him throw more stones.
On Level Up: The number of rocks Musashi throws increase.

    BASARA:
Musashi throws sand forward, stunning enemies around. He then pulls
a huge bat from inside his pants and delivers a very damaging blow
that will send targets flying away - the bat will break. For the
finishing grace, he'll throw the rest of the club forward, hitting
at long range and causing insanely high damage.

Really, I think the last part is the most damaging one.

You can control the direction in any of those steps.

Obs.: Musashi's taunt move (a.k.a the spit) is the only way he can
prime enemies besides the moment you activate Sengoku Drive.

And yeah, I know my English is terrible. Don't even bother mailing me about
this, I'll just delete your message. If someone wishes to rewrite the guide
with proper English, though, I'll be more than happy.

    I'd like to thank:
    Capcom, for making this game
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, for liking the Basara series more than Devil May Cry
Myself, for finally writing a guide for a game I love
My girlfriend Agnes, for playing Conquest mode with me (very well) and helping
    to level up the characters.
GameFAQs board members The Giant Hoeruo, DDT213 and draewon for their support.
draewon (again) and Cooledge for great help with skills descrptions.
    Murasaki1800 for romanization corrections
Klarc for explaining Zabii's last skill
OboroTennosuke, for providing great translations for many things in the game.
Thanks for playing and buy the goddamn original game.
