About Kanji?

I'm still not clear on this. It doesn't really matter...but I am still curious. Is he hom*sexual, straight, bi? Or is it something that you just kinda have to speculate on? He had a crush on Naoto when he thought she was a guy and obviously since his shadow said he liked guys...I think maybe he is bi? He said it isn't a matter of guys or girls...so that means he can go either way?

I'd label him as bi. As the game says, he was rejected by girls because of the stuff he likes to do and then he gets the crush on Naoto even when he thought she was a guy. Like he says, it's not a matter of guys or girls, it's a matter of non-rejection I think.

Personally I'd say he was straight, because we don't have any proof otherwise. His shadow was talking about guys because Kanji had a crush on Naoto, and since he thought Naoto was a guy he was doubting his sexuality, and thats what lead to his Shadow. But other than that I don't remember him liking any other guys. However he does often react to girls, like when he got a nosebleed in the camping trip.

Eh, well, he's not completely hom*sexual, if he is at all. At most, I'd call him bi, though if it makes you feel better there's no real evidence to suggest that he goes for guys. It seems to me that each character's shadow shows them the most suppressed question in each individual's mind; Kanji probably REALLY didn't want to consider the possibility that he could be attracted to other males. Then again, since he's in such emotional (and hormonal) turmoil in this stage in his life, it is a distinct possibility that he actually is. Therefore, until I'm given concrete evidence one way or the other, I've been, and will, label him as "Questioning to Bisexual".

That might have been longer than necessary. I apologize.

You know I was thinking the same thing the first time I played this game. When I saw Kanji's shadow event I started to think if is this guy was Quack Quack. In the game shadows show the repressed feeling of the person. In other words, shows you what you want to denied of yourself. When I saw Naoto I thought it was a boy but then It results to be a girl. So this game has bisexual and a marimacha. Then, again he has feelings toward Naoto but I still think he likes both sides. And Naoto doesn't really act like a girl so I believed this two characters are twisted.

I think he's straight but he had gender identity issues. He was worried he was not-straight because he was uncomfortable around girls and liked to sew and do crafts. When Yosuke teases him about it later in the game he repeatedly says he's not "that way."

My answer is exactly the same as the posters' above. I am sure he's straight. He liked Naoto when he thought she was a guy. Getting insulted by girls was the fundamental problem he faced. He hated people bad-mouthed him just because of his "strange" hobbies, sewing and stuffs. As his Shadow said before, he prefer men much more because they're nicer than women. But ya know what? That doesn't make a man is h***sexual. I mean I admit girls are so whiny (including myself lol) and boys are better because they sure understand what Kanji meant. I had learnt something valuable during his arc...

Kanji tatsumi....my fave character in this game due to his unique personality and his voice (US Version).
In my opinion, Kanji didn't like girls because they are noisy right? and in my experience, guy with personality like Kanji don't like near girl who talk much. He is the type who prefer quiet girl but do more than talky girl but do less (just judging from my experience ^_^)
So, the point is he still like girl, but due to his own suggestion that every girl are noisy and bother him, so he prefer guys that NOT noisy (naoto which he though male and the MC fit that personality)
So, Kenji like Naoto even when he though she is a man is because Naoto fit as person that Kanji like and maybe (JUST MAYBE) because he sense that womanly side of Naoto. Even if some girl cover herself as a man, she still radiating that womanly aura of her. That makes Kanji questioning himself for liking a man.....and there goes the rest with midnight channel....
For some reference, those who like j-dorama should watch Hanazakari Kimi no tachi e to fully understand Kanji situation...

Hehehe, sorry for all that nonsense. Well, that is my opinion. Nothing wrong right??

There's one point in the game - I think the first time you visit Teddie with him, maybe later on - where Yukiko slaps him and he has a heart appear over his head.

Personally, I think Kanji is straight - he's just confused when he thinks Naoto is a guy and because he's more comfortable around guys and because he has hobbies that are associated with women.

He's straight, he wouldn't get a nosebleed out of seeing yukiko and chie in a swim suit, would bis or hom*s get that?

To all of you using the nosebleed as evidence...

He got that after the player and Yosuke fell in the water, and he got to see them in their wet bathing suits. If it was girl-related, it would've happened RIGHT AFTER he saw the girls in their swimwear.
