Armor wise i use the custom armor parts from a download and purchased pieces from planets.

  2. Best weapon depends primarily on your class/play style (since different classes have access to different weapons).

As for Armor, the best Armor (in the PS3 version) is probably the Kestrel armor (with all the parts). Since each piece adds multiple bonuses (swap out pieces of it to match your play style if you need to).

  3. It depends on your class. Vanguards for example are great with shotguns and you're going to want to customize your armor with pieces that help shields and melee. And you'd want to research upgrades that benefit shields, melee, and damage resistance because of their risky, close quarter combat tactics. It all just depends on your class.

  4. It all depends on the class and your play style really.

Personally I like using the Mattock heavy rifle (DLC Download) but it runs out of ammo quickly. Armour wise I try to find a balance between defensive and offensive bonuses and find out which ones work well together.

  5. Personally I like the Cerberus armor package as it gives a combined (Three 10% groups) 30% in upgrades and plenty of mobility.
