Does single player limit me to playing as 1 of 2 characters, or can I play as all the characters eventually?

I read in multiplayer, you can play as many different characters. Can I play as any of these characters in single player mode?

You have to play as the corresponding character in the campaign mode the first time you go through the level. After you've beaten the level once, though, you can replay it with any character you want (that you've unlocked).
