How do i get Iron and Silver ore to craft things?

I need to find iron and silver ore to craft on of franklins inventions, but i cant find iron or steel ore? how do i find them??

You need to complete homestead missions to upgrade/lvl up those specific jobs,and for ores you need norris(miner) to lvl up
