How to play (with explanations of all menus)

This wiki is mainly oriented to help those who bought the japanese game, but do not hesitate to use it if you have other versions of the game, as it have useful information.

Controls (Original Config).

Start: Pause, in game. Cancel any videos. If pressed once you´ll see on the down-right side of the screen a message: Press start to Cancel. Press it again to cancel the video. If you don´t press it again the message will fade.

Select: Take off your Cloth. Grants you +300% Cosmo recovery, -50% Attack, and -25% Defense. You´ll lose the little life regeneration per time that all Character has. Only Fenix Ikki can summon it again, pressing Select. He has no limit, so he can take off and wear it again as many times as he wants.

One Unlockable character can take off the cloth too:

SPOILER! Highlight to View

Deathmask Cancer obtains: +300% Cosmo recovery, -130% Attack, and Defense -50%. No life regeneration per time.

Left Stick: Move.

Square: Weak attack.

Triangle: Strong Attack. Can be charged. When is maxed it will auto attack even if does not hit an enemy.

X: Jump. In menus, Decide.

Circle: Special Attack 1. Example: Pegasus Ryūsei Ken (Pegasus Meteor Fist). In Menus, Go Back.

L1: Guard. (When pressed just before an enemy attack connect, you enter in Real Seventh Sense.)

L1+ Left Stick: Dodge. (When done correctly just before an enemy attack connect, you enter in Real Seventh Sense.)

R1: Special Attack 2. Example: Pegasus Suisei Ken (Pegasus Comet Fist).

L2: Seventh Sense (enemies move slower). Attack +50%, Defense +25%.

R2: Cosmo Burst (Charge cosmo standing still). Shinoten (Revive your partner in Tag mode, you have to be still over your partner and press the button.) Cosmo gauge auto-refills at a slow rate per second.

Gives you a very short temporary buff on Attack +300%, and +400% Cosmo regain rate. They drop rapidly. But grows to the maximum fast. These buffs can be added to other buffs. But do not stack with R2+ Left Stick buff.

R1+Circle: Special Attack 3. Example: Pegasus Rolling Crush.

R2 + other buttons (Consumes a little of Cosmo Energy).

Left Stick: Fast Move (Burst Dash). Will burn enemies as you move, so you can move to avoid danger freely, but you can be hitted.

Attack +100% (until you stop pressing R2.) This buff can be added to other buffs. But do not stack with R2 + standing still buff. This buff grows as fast as it drop when you stop pressing R2 + Left stick.

Square: Strong Forward Charge. (Try using it when any 7th sense is active, change camera angles and it´s very strong.)

Triangle: Strong Uppercut. (Try using it when any 7th sense is active, change camera angles and it´s very strong.)

X: Long Jump (Burst Jump).

L1: Guard Burst, an explosion of cosmo. It not consumes only cosmo, consumes life as well. But nearby enemies will fly away.

R2 + any Special Attack: Big Bang Attack (only in Boss fights, and if you have Big Bang Energy, a white light on the left of you life and cosmo gauges). If you dont have Big Bang energy those attacks will become Burst Special Attacks, wich consume more cosmo but are stronger. (Try to use them, without Big Bang Energy, when 7th sense is active, change camera angles and it´s very strong.)

Differences Between 7th Sense and Real 7th Sense.

7th Sense is active when L2 is pressed. It consumes cosmo and end when one section of your Cosmo gauge is empty. Keep in mind that the consumption is always the same amount, so if you have two sections and a half, it will end on one section and a half. It´s active for a long time.

Real 7th sense is done when parrying or dodging correctly using L1, and L1 + any direction. It last only for a short time, but it does not consume cosmo. Can be done with every attack, Special Attack included.

In both cases you obtain Attack +50%, Defense +25%. Using a special Attack will shorten a lot the 7th sense state. Using R2+ other button techniques will shorten 7th sense usage time. This does not affect Real 7th sense duration as it´s short and does not consume cosmo.

About Essences and how to obtain Big Bang Energy:

Red Essence: Attack Up for a time. (Big or little.)

Little Blue Essences: Refill your cosmo.

Big Blue Essences: Refill your cosmo and increase for a time your cosmo regain rate.

Yellow Essences: Defense Up for a time. (Big or little.)

Green Essences: Regain Life. (Big or little.)

Purple Essences: Refill your Big Bang Energy. A white light will be lit on the left of your life and cosmo bars.

White Lights: Gallery items.

You can build up Big Bang Energy if you obtain a purple orb during a bosss fight, if you hit enough a boss, dodge/parry enough boss attacks, if you´re hitted by the boss enough, or if when you´re in Continue Screen, you see important characters as Athena. Athena gives you Big Bang energy and 7th sense state. Some characters give Attack, Defense or Cosmo regain boost for a time, but no Big Bang energy. It varies from character to character. Some of the continue screen characters can be seen only with a specific character.

Important Notes.

This game has auto-save be careful to not turn off your PS3 while saving.

Life and Cosmo gauges regerates per second by a little amount. During a Stairs Stage (a normal one), you´lll go from section to section defeating enemies. You have to beat them all, or make them flee, and you´ll hear a sound, then you can continue to the next section. if you find sub-bosses in a normal stage you´ll need to beat them, until they´re beaten, they will call reinforcements when they need it. In Temple Stages (boss fights), you´ll have the whole stage to battle.

Some Special Attacks can be stronger if you keep pressing the button until it´s fully charged (Seiya´s R1: Pegasus Suisei Ken). Other can be stronger if you press the button multiple times (Seiya´s Circle Pegasus Ryūsei Ken). With Hyōga´s Aurora Thunder Attack you can press R1 up to 3 times to hit more times. Others are easy to spam like Ikki´s Special Attacks. Other attacks are stronger if you keep pressing the button until the Special Attack ends. Some Special Attacks can change directions midways. There are chacters that their Special Attacks can be used in various ways at the same time. Some Special Attacks can be done in mid-air. Try this things with every character´s Special Attacks. In the command list those ways to make stronger a Special Attack are written.

All your characters status is shared in all modes. So you can start Story mode, do a couple of stages, do missions with characters and the next time you pick them to play story mode, they will be as stonger as you left them when you ended your last mission.

When you have orange menus a lot of them are like: Do want to do it again? (Up: Yes. Down: No). When defeated and have no continues.

Or are you sure? (Up: Yes. Down: No) When exiting some menus and in other minor situations.

Or, what do you want to do? (Up: Continue to next Chapter. Down: Go to Main Menu).

When you end a stage and end with the subsequent improvement.

Yes or Continue to next chapter are highlighted, it´s the upward option. The downwards option are, No or Go to Main Menu.

Main Menu and sub-menus

1.0 Story Mode.

If it´s your first time you´ll jump to difficulty select, and will be asked if you´ll use Type A (NORMAL) or Easy Controls. The highlighted one, is Type A (NORMAL), it´s downward. Upwards it´s the Easy Mode (has auto attack pressing square button, auto guard, And auto 7th sense when low life). You can change controls later in Main Menu -> Options -> Controller Settings. Or in game with Pause Menu -> Options -> Controller Settings. (See 5.1)

If it´s your first time you´ll be forced to do the tutorial, until you beat the story mode once.

Every time you start 12 Zodiac Temples, Mu of Aries Temple will ask you, Pegasus Seiya, if you want to skip the tutorial. (Up: Yes. Down: No. Highlighted.)

If it´s not your first time, you´ll see Story Select, Continue and Stage Select.

1.0.1 The Tutorial.

During the tutorial you will not have the cloth so you´ll have stats boosts, +300% Cosmo recovery, -50% Attack, and -25% Defense. You´ll recover life at the end of the tutorial.

You will see the left stick, but you do not need to move if you don´t want to. Next objectives are the attack buttons. When the next message is showed you´ll see a controller on the screen, some seconds later, when you see the second message, attack the enemies with square, triangle and a charged triangle. Next is the life gauge, followed by special Attacks: Circle, R1, and R1+Circle. You´ll see a buttton and next, a couple of second later you´ll see the second message, then press the buttons and will see a success message. Following is the Cosmo gauge explanation, when you´re asked to charge cosmo (as when moving you´re not forced to do it). Then you´ll be asked to press R2 + triangle. You´ll need to guard (L1), and it will be followed by Guard Burst (L1 + R2). At last they will talk about the Start button and that with it you can see a Battle Help and Command List every time you need it. You´ll start next stage with a repaired cloth (in a normal state).

But if you go back before you choose a difficulty in Story Mode or a stage in Story Mode´s stage select, or a character is selected in Sigle Challenge in Mission Mode, or the second character is selected in Tag Challenge in Mission Mode, you´ll not erase your save related to the stage or mission you´re playing.
