Introduction

This is a FAQ and move list for Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. If you have any questions or comments, contact me through the email address listed on my contributor information page.

Terminology

TS- Time Skip

PTS- Pre Time Skip

WS: RS- Wind Style: Rasen Shuriken

TNR- The Nine Tailed Rasengan

KCM- Kyubi Chakra Mode

CTS- Chidori True Spear

UJ- Ultimate Jutsu (also known as Ougi)

Throw/Grab- Guard button + M

Combo Cancel- chakra load + jump button, produces a lightning-like move

Tips

Watch the sub gauge- This cannot be emphasized enough. It's not wise to rush in and attack while having no subs should the enemy substitute and trap the character in an infinite combo. It recovers over time and is loosely based off of the amount of damage taken.

Combo Cancel- If a combo is about to end and the enemy has an empty sub gauge, combo cancel to continue the combo. This can also be used to quickly escape should the enemy use a Jutsu. Be cautious, as this consumes Chakra.

Dash Cancel- Use this to prevent getting caught if the enemy is preparing a Jutsu

Keep chakra up- It is ideal to keep chakra levels at least at the level needed to perform an Ougi. Do not charge it excessively though. Bad times to charge would be while close to the enemy or while the enemy is vulnerable.

Use tilts/throws to interrupt combos while blocking melee- Some tilts and throws are fast enough to interrupt combos even while blocking.

Story

The difficulty of each battle in this mode is INDEPENDENT of that set VS Mode.

Tale of Young Naruto Uzumaki

NOTE: Naruto's Demon Wind Bomb Variant is only playable in this mode. The same applies for Orchimaru's Blade Dance Variant.

VS Kakashi (Lightning Blade: Twin Lightning Shiver)

Support

COM level: 4

The COM is at a very low level during this battle, so there isn't much to worry about. Just take Kakashi out as quickly as possible. If he starts running, just call on Sasuke for support or use the Demon Wind Bomb.

VS Haku (masked)

There's not much to worry about here. The attack plan is pretty much the same as last battle. Because of the low difficulty, rush down play is pretty safe.

VS Zabuza

This is a surprisingly easily battle given the difficulty. Zabuza tends to keep his distance here as well as sub more. Ranged items had varying degrees of effectiveness. Make good use of the combo cancel and keep an eye on the chakra gauge.

VS Neji

Rush down play is still a fairly safe option, just be ready to combo cancel when Neji subs. Be sure to use Demon Wind Bomb should he distance himself. His health does NOT need to be in the orange to awaken. DO NOT let this happen. Should it happen, drain his sub gauge or if it is drained, just keep beating him. If your sub gauge is empty, then keep distance and wait for it to recover. While awakened, Rotation is the least favorable Jutsu to be caught in.

VS Orochimaru (Blade Dance)

This may prove to be a challenge for some players. Orochimaru's slithering like attack is much faster than the Third's Ultimate Jutsu, so try to catch him by surprise. Combo cancels and subs will be used very frequently. If the need arises, awaken to finish the battle quickly.

VS Gaara (Sand Burial)

Not really much to say here. Gaara's grab can easily trap rush down players so be wary. If the battle is finished quickly enough, the change in attack strength doesn't matter much. This will matter should Gaara awaken. Use Demon Wind Bomb to keep up with him when he distances himself to land a few extra hits.

VS Itachi (Tsukuyomi) and Kisame

Take note: Itachi's crow clone Jutsu can go through Jutsu (even ultimates) as well as interrupt combos. Kisame's Shark bomb Jutsu has pretty good tracking and is pretty tough on the guard. Itachi's ultimate in this battle hits at close range so be wary. There are two supports available here, so use them as needed. He can't awaken which is a really good thing. He also chakra (back) dashes frequently, so take caution while attacking.

VS Itachi (Tsukuyomi)

The increase in attack is very noticeable. Keep watch over both sub gauges. When Itachi's is empty try to either get him in a long combo or go for an ultimate. Landing and ultimate can be tricky due to the crow move, but persevere. Try to avoid getting hit by his ultimate because the match is pretty much his afterward. He also moves around a lot so landing combos can be tricky. At least he can't awaken, so that's one less thing to worry about.

VS Kabuto

The only really issue here is Kabuto's Jutsu. It hits on the run so be wary. His attacks do significantly more damage due to the battle conditions. Just play with a little more caution and this battle will end quickly. Should he awaken with a nearly full sub bar, it is best to stay far away until it wears off.

VS Kimimaro

Best advice: end this battle quickly because it will get bad if Kimimaro awakens. Take advantage of the recovery after he uses his Jutsu. It should be fairly easy to trap him in an ultimate. His ultimate has decent tracking, so it's best to block it.

VS Sasuke (PTS: Blue Outfit)

This battle is more annoying than anything due to the heightened defense. There's really nothing to watch out for in particular here. Just think before attacking. If this battle is drawn out, Sasuke can get a little spammy with Chidori.

VS Sasuke (PTS: Blue Outfit, awakened)

Curse Mark State 2 Sasuke can get spammy with the Chidori Lament which is an instant guard break. The battle can even turn into a ranged battle due to both of their ranged attacks. Sasuke's Phoenix Flower Jutsu is pretty easy to dodge. Try to get his sub gauge low before going in for combos since combo cancelling has various levels of effectiveness.

Tale of Zabuza Momochi and Haku

VS Kakashi (Lightning Blade: Twin Lightning Shiver)

If anything Kakashi is more mobile. Rush down play here is pretty safe, though it can get trying when Kakashi guards, causing a bounce off effect. He can't awaken so there isn't much to worry about as far as the increase in attack power goes.

VS Sasuke (PTS: Blue Outfit) and Naruto

With Haku's speed, it doesn't take much to simply play rush down and end the battle quickly. Watch out for Naruto's Demon Wind Bomb, as it can deplete the sub gauge for those who aren't careful. Sasuke may or may not use Fire Ball Jutsu often, so stay aware.

VS Naruto

Even with the COM level and the attack increase, Haku still has a speed advantage over Naruto. The attack bonus doesn't mean anything if he can't land a hit. Hit him hard with combos (being sure to combo cancel) and the battle should end quickly.

VS Kakashi (Lightning Blade: Twin Lightning Shiver)

Kakashi's speed advantage in this battle may be a bit frustrating. He can't awaken, so that's good. The attack increase may bring the health bar to awakened level, don't hesitate to use it.

Tale of Naruto Uzumaki

VS Kakashi (Kamui)

With Sakura's support, this battle will hardly seem like a challenge. Even though Kakashi can awaken, that won't be too much of a problem.

VS Itachi (Totsuka Blade)

Itachi's fast combos may be an issue and can deplete the sub gauge for those who aren't careful. Itachi's crow clone Jutsu can interrupt combos and such, but he can be tracked using an ultimate or Rasengan.

VS Deidara

Deidara likes to keep his distance, close that gap and get in close where he is helpless. Rasengan and the ultimate are good for tracking should he run. Watch out for his grab which can catch players off guard.

VS Orochimaru

Naruto's using his four tailed state here, so there are one of two options. First, there's rush down. Secondly, there's the Jutsu chakra gun volley.

VS Sasuke (CTS)

With the supports given here, there is a close range one and a mid-long range one. Either work on the team gauge with support use and go in for a ultimate or just approach the fight as if the supports aren't there.

VS Kakuzu

Do not let Kakuzu awaken. When he does, his Jutsu has amazing tracking. His shuriken are composed of elemental attacks which should be dodged. His ultimate and throw is sort of a grab type move, so be careful when rushing in.

VS Tobi

In his normal form, the only thing that is worrisome are the mine like Jutsu, grab and ultimate he uses. These can catch players unaware but are not a big deal once a pattern is found. If he awakens, just pray his sub bar is empty and try to go in for combos. If not then, stay at a distance ready to dodge his Fire Ball Jutsu and rely heavily on supports and shuriken until it wears off.

VS Pain

Pain's Almighty Push can be a huge headache so be ready to guard. Sage Naruto's ultimate is thrown and has pretty good reach. With a cautioned style, this battle won't take much, especially considering Naruto's six tailed awakening. Think of four tails, but on a larger scale.

VS Tobi (Awakened)

The COM level is a lie although it could be worse. Awakening isn't available for help. There an attack boost in addition to that given for the fight. Hopeless? Not completely. Watch out for Tobi's tilt and grab which he gets spammy with. Stay distant and only go in for combos when he has one or on subs. His dash is unbelievably quick. This may take a few tries to win.

VS Sasuke (Susanoo)

The real problem here is Sasuke's running. He will stay mobile most of the match which makes landing combos really difficult. Watch for his Jutsu and ultimate. Should he awaken, keep distant and stay on the move.

Tale of Gaara

VS Sasuke (PTS: Black Outfit)

Sasuke's got speed, but Gaara;s Jutsu and grab easily interrupts his rush down style. Awakening can be used here so if the health bar gets low enough, feel free to do so. The attack increase doesn't mean much when Gaara's battle items raise his defense so that it's null and void.

VS Naruto (PTS)

Naruto gets spammy with his tilt which may cause some annoyance. When he's not paying attention, use Sand Burial on him.

VS Deidara

This battle pretty much feels like dealing with an inexperienced Deidara spammer. Just stay mobile, get in close and punish. When he chakra back dashes, use Sand Tsunami to hit him.

VS Sasuke (Susanoo)

The worse thing to happen is to have Sasuke awaken. His fast combos, tilt and recovery time make this battle bad enough. What's worse is that Gaara faces him alone. Avoid his Jutsu and stay mobile because his ultimate hits wherever the character is standing.

Tale of Kakashi Hatake

VS Obito

Obito and Kakashi are pretty even in terms of speed so it's pretty much a game of who can land the first hit and empty the other's sub gauge. Also, there is an item called a Frenzy Pill that Obito has. Wait until he uses it, and then attack him for massive damage. He won't recoil to hits in combos though which is best for the combo cancel. If he uses his Jutsu, just dodge around it.

VS Minato (Jonin)

Minato has really fast combos and his ninja move and chakra dash can be trying to keep up with. Just get the battle over with as soon as possible and there will be little to worry about.

VS Naruto (PTS) and Sasuke

Naruto will get spammy with his tilt, so be ready to guard or avoid it. Either dodge or block Sasuke's Fire Ball Jutsu as the knock back from that is also affected by the attack increase. Needless to say, rush down is NOT a safe tactic. Try to catch him off guard. Don't be surprised if it's hard to land an ultimate, as most of Naruto's attacks are faster than the startup for it. Do whatever is needed to win.

VS Naruto (TS: TNR) and Sakura

Due to the amount of the attack increase and Naruto's superior speed, the best advice here is to do whatever it takes to win. Sakura's Jutsu hits from close range so be careful. The worst thing to be caught in is any full combo, so make sure there's always a sub available. Awakening has various levels of effectiveness, so use it wisely here.

Tale of Jiraiya

VS Naruto (PTS)

The only thing that will make this battle hard is Naruto's speed advantage. He tends to use his tilt move a bit so try to catch him in an ultimate before he can recover. The Demon Wind Bomb gives him a way to follow and continue combos. He can't awaken, so the plus 20 attack doesn't mean much in the end.

VS Naruto (TS: TNR)

Naruto plays in a more rush own type style. Block and he'll bounce off. The speed advantage is even greater than the last battle so stay alert. Catching him in an ultimate will be a little harder than before, but completely possible.

VS Konan

The attack increase means everything here. It's bad to get trapped in a combo and even worse to get trapped in her ultimate. Should she awaken, stay as far away as possible and DO NOT guard against her Jutsu, either take it or dodge it. It's best to get this battle done as quickly as possible.

VS Pain

It is a Very good thing that the fight is done in an awakened state. Ultimates can't hit awakened characters. Just avoid his Almighty Push while tearing at his health bar and the battle will end quickly.

Tale of Sasuke Uchiha

VS Naruto (TS: TNR), Sakura and Sai

It's fortunate that Sasuke's combos are faster than Naruto's. Naruto has a balance type support here, so she'll take an ultimate once the gauge reaches the support drive level. Sai's support is mid-range and has so-so tracking, but stay on the move.

VS Orochimaru

There isn't much to this battle. Orochimaru's dash and ninja move can make him difficult to grab or hit.

VS Deidara and Tobi

Don't let Deidara awaken when his health gets low enough. At the point the only options are running and relying on Fire Ball Jutsu. Watch out for Tobis support which can reach from across the field. Some of the bombs are also delayed. Deidara is a ranged character, so get in close and there shouldn't be any real issues.

VS Itachi (Totsuka Blade)

Itachi's Crow Clone Jutsu will be frustrating at times since it can stop Fire Ball Jutsu. Itachi can't awaken so there isn't much to worry about once his health fall on the orange bar.

VS Itachi (awakened)

Be thankful the COM is at a Very low level here. Be VERY thankful. It's really easy to get complacent considering the low level, but Itachi's combos still hit hard. Amaterasu has amazing tracking so stay on the move and don't attempt to guard it.

VS Killer Bee

As expected with higher difficulty, Killer Bee moves around and subs more. Amaterasu has really good tracking, so try to catch Bee off guard. When his health gets low enough, it may or may not be a bad idea to let him awaken. If he has no subs, just get the first hit because he's just a big target. If he has a full gauge, stay mobile until it wears off.

VS Raikage and Gaara

Raikages combos aren't terribly fast but he has a pretty good recovery time. Gaara's Sand Tsunami can hit from long range, so be careful of that. If there are no subs in the sub gauge, do not awaken. At that point, Sasuke will be a big target. Also do not let Raikage awaken, that's where the attack increase given for the battle will be seen.

VS Mizukage and Tsuchikage

The real worry is the support. Tsuchikage's attack can really throw off inexperienced rush down game. Watch out for Mizukage's ultimate which hits at close range.

VS Danzo

Danzo likes to stay mobile, so it will be frustrating to track him down. For his awakening, he gets an attack boost and his sub becomes Izanagi. Speaking of Izanagi, his ultimate, it hits at mid-range and can be confused for his regular Jutsu, so dodge or block. And if the sub gauge is full, feel free to awaken against him.

VS Naruto (TS: KCM)

Good news: Naruto can't awaken, so don't worry about KCM domination. It's easy to catch Naruto in an ultimate when he uses his tilt.

Tale of Itachi Uchiha

VS Kakashi (Lightning Blade), Asuma and Kurenai

Catching Kakashi in the ultimate can be tricky, seeing as it hits at close range. While going in for combos watch out for Asuma's Fire Style: Burning Ash. There is a small delay between the smoke being put onto the field and it being ignited. Kurenai's support attack will only catch the unaware off guard. She leaves a clone that is transparent. Also, Kakashi can awaken, so be wary of that. During that state, you can rely on Kisame to keep him at a distance or drain his subs.

VS Sasuke (PTS: Black Outfit)

Sasuke's attacks come out pretty fast, so be careful about the sub gauge. Itachi's Crow Clone Jutsu can be used to interrupt combos and dodge ultimates. Itachi's ultimate , though it hits at close range, has a surprisingly quick startup.

VS Naruto (TS: TNR) and Kakashi

Kakashi's support isn't much to worry about, just stay out of his range. Naruto's Rasengan can catch Itachi even after a combo cancel. The real thing to worry about here is the team gauge when it is all charged up for the use of a team ultimate.

VS Sasuke (TS: Kirin)

COM level: 9

Sasuke's long combos combined with the attack increase can nearly deplete the green heath bar in one go, so be wise with subs. Try to catch him when he has no subs or Very few. Combo cancelling has Varying degrees of effectiveness. It's hard to catch him in an ultimate, due to his repeated use of chakra back dash.

VS Sasuke (TS: Kirin)

There is Very little to worry about here. Just stay on Sasuke's tail and batter him with the awakening's powerful combos. If he does get some distance, use Amaterasu to track him down. The cool thing about this Jutsu is that there can be up to three on the field at once.

Tale of Minato Namikaze

VS Young Kakashi and Obito

With the COM being at the level of average difficulty, as well as the speed advantage Minato has, this battle shouldn't take much effort. Watch out for Obitos Fire Ball Jutsu whenever Kakashi calls on him.

VS Jiraiya

Battles with rush down style characters are mostly made easier with Minato's superior speed. Be careful though, it is fairly easy to accidentally get caught in Jiraiya's ultimate, which is where the attack increase really makes a difference.

VS The Third Hokage

Don't underestimate the Third Hokage's combos. They can be brutal on the health bar when the sub gauge is depleted, especially Senior Monkey (the combo in which Enma attacks alongside him). End this before he awakens to have an easy victory.

VS Masked Man

Masked Manwhat can be said? Try to avoid his Jutsu, although it does have a small vulnerability at the end that can be exploited to easily land an ultimate. Minato's ultimate this time around has a little more range to it, so it won't be needed to get super close to Masked Man. It'll also do well to avoid his combos since he does have that attack increase.

Tale of Madara Uchiha
