*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+
*+ Introduction *+
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is the newest installment in the franchise. The
game carries on the 3 vs 3 fighting style while adding a much fresher face
and a bevy of new ways to fight. Ultimate Marvel is a standalone game that
improves upon Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 in many ways while adding new characters,
modes, levels, and abilities. The story revolves around the invasion of
Galactus, and how the worlds of Marvel and Capcom banded together to thwart
his attack on both worlds.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+
*+ Controls *+
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+

These correspond to the default controls and are typical to most fighting games
in terms of movements I will include. Controls are listed for PS3.

Square - Weak attack, usually able to be spammed by many for a short while.

Triangle - Strong attack, deals moderate damage, can be used twice in the air.

Circle - Fierce attack, Deals the most damage in terms of regular hits.

X - Launcher / Special, this button alone is the launcher for every character
and is used in most charactrs unique abilities.

L1 - Partner 1, pressing the button uses that characters assist, holding will
perform a hard tag.

R1 - Partner 2, See Partner 1...duh :P

L2 - Crossover Combination, this is the button you will use for your Crossover
Combinations.

R2 - Hyper Combo, this is the button you will be using most of the time for
performing hyper combos.

Select - Taunt, most taunts are just for quirks but some even do damage.

Start - Pauses the game..heh

And just to say so, you can use either the D-Pad or the Left Analog stick for
movement. The right analog stick you say? Well...that's just for show.

*+ Getting Started +*
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

UMVC3 is obviously a fighting game, so I will go ahead and explain some of the
basics right here, some good information to know before we get started, and
some other stuff. Course you're probably just here for like movelists and stuff
so probably not even reading this...right?

Legend:
1 - Weak
2 - Strong
3 - Fierce
4 - Launcher / Special
u - Up
f - forward
d - Down
b - Back
QCF - Quarter Circle Forward
QCB - Quarter Circle Back
HCF - Half Circle Forward
HCB - Half Circle Back
DPF - Dragon Punch Motion Forward
DPB - Dragon Punch Motion Back
360 - Complete Circle Motion
XF - X-Factor
HT - Hard Tag
ST - Soft Tag
CC - Crossover Combination
SB - Snapback
HY - Hyper Combo
H&H - Heroes and Heralds
OTG - On the Ground
AB - Attack Button (1,2 or 3)

These are some features of UMVC3 that I will outline for you (Default Controls)

X - Factor: HY + 4, Character becomes stronger and faster,
length of X-Factor is determined by how many of your characters are KO'd
already.

Hard Tag: I refer to this by tagging in manually and not by an air tag and
whatnot

Soft Tag: I refer to this by tagging in during an air combo or anytime it would
generally be considered 100% safe. These are mostly done by 4 + Any direction
during an air combo. This can also be countered by the opponent doing the
same thing (ie. Same direction + X).

Crossover Combination: QCF + CC, Uses all currently living characters hyper
combos at once, depending on amount of hyper combo gauges.

Delayed Hypercombo - This is done by inputting the command for your next
partners Hyper Combo during the currect characters, it will interrupt the
currecnt to perform the new on and thusly tag that character in. This can only
be performed a maximum of 2 at a time (one for each character generally).

Snapback - QCF + P1 or P2, Upon contact this will forcibly tag in your foe's
corresponding character and temporarily make the character that was hit
untaggable.

Advancing Guard - R2 while blocking, This will push the opponent away giving
you some room to retaliate.

Crossover Counter - f + P1 or P2 while blocking, This will tag in your
respective partner while blocking and they will use thier assist upon coming in

Modes:
Offline Play - Arcade, Missions, Training.
Online Play - Ranked Match, Player Match, Lobby
Heroes and Heralds - A mode where you can play on or offline, I will go more in
depth in H&H section.
Gallery - View movies, bios, endings, voices, themes, and artwork
Options - C'mon guy...really?

Berserker Barrage: QCF, AB
Tornado Claw: DPF, AB
Berserker Slash: QCB, AB
Drill Claw: AB + 4 + Direction (In air)
Berserker Rage: AB repeatedly

Hyper Combos:
(1) Berserker Barrage: QCF, HY
(1) Fatal Claw: QCB, HY
(1) Berserker Charge: D, D, HY
(3) Weapon X: DPF, HY

Tips:
Fatal Claw is a nice finish to an air combo
Diving Kick will cause a ground bounce if opponent is in the air
Berserker Slash can cancel to Weapon X if you know what direction you're facing
Sliding Claw can OTG

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Tornado Claw / Upward / Fatal Claw
2. Berserker Slash / Forward / Berserker Barrage X
3. Berserker Barrage / Forward / Berserker Barrage X

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Berserker Slash has no invincibility
2. Added Berserker Rage
3. Can increase number of hits in Berserker Barrage X, Fatal Claw, and Weapon X
with rapid button mashing

Thoughts:
Nice an' Sharp alright! Wolverine is a beast, in a skilled players hands a
combo could go for a while, witht he right assists you can keep that combo up.
His assists are sub par though, but he does have a nice array of specials and
a semi decent amount of health.

Hulk [HLK]
DLC Costume Pack: Ancient Warrior Pack

Table:
Intelligence ||||||
Strength |||||||
Speed |||

Fighting Ability ||||

First Appearance: The Incredible Hulk #1 (1962)

Real name: Robert Bruce Banner

Movelist:
Incredible Punch: F + 2
Gamma Tornado: HCB, AB
Gamma Wave: B(charge), F + AB
Gamma Charge: QCF, AB (follow up with another AB)
Gamma Charge (Anti Air): DPF, AB (follow up with another AB)

Hyper Combos:
(1)Gamma Tsunami: QCF, HY
(1)Gamma Quake: DPF, HY
(1)Gamma Crush: QCB, HY

Tips:
Gamma Wave and Tsunami can OTG
Incredible Punch causes a wall bounce
If you're quick enough Gamma Quake can also OTG

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Gamma Wave / Front / Gamma Tsunami
2. Gamma Charge (Anti Air) / Up Forward / Gamma Quake
3. Gamma Charge / Front / Gamma Crush

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Added Incredible Punch
2. Gamma Charge has super armor
3. Second Gamma Charge 2 causes wall bounce
4. Less charge time for Gamma Wave

Thoughts:
Hulk is strongest there is! Is he ever though, Hulk deals a ton of damage and
can take a ton of damage, he's pretty much what you'd expect, kinda slow and
as far as I've seen not so great with combos, but everyone has the potential.
Hulk is definitely one you should pick if you're looking for a big strong tank.

Iron Man [IRN]
DLC Costume Pack: Original Costume Pack

Table:
Intelligence ||||||
Strength ||||||
Speed |||||
Stamina ||||||
Energy Projection ||||||
Fighting Ability |||

First Appearance: Tales of Suspense #39 (1963)

Real name: Anthony "Tony" Edward Stark

Movelist:
Focus Shot: (in air) 3 + direction
Unibeam: QCF, AB
Smart Bomb: DPF, AB
Repulsor Blast: QCB, AB (Follow up with another AB for Spread)
Flight: QCB, 4

Hyper Combos:
(1)Photon Cannon: QCF, HY
(1)Photon Cannon (Angle): DPF, HY
(3)Iron Avenger: QCB, HY

Tips:
Smart Bomb is a great OTG that can canel to any of his Hyper Combos.
The Angled Photon Cannon is great as a delayed Hyper Combo when others leave
the opponent higher.
Iron Man can cancel to flight during an Air Combo for more hits, but the timing
is tricky.
Repulsor Blast is great to pull them in and cancel to a Photon Cannon.

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. UniBeam / Forward / Proton Cannon
2. Repulsor Blast / Up / Angled Proton Cannon
3. Smart Bomb / Down / Proton Cannon

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Repulsor Spread changed to just pressing 3
2. No Double Jump
3. Can increase number of hits in Proton cannon and Iron Avenger with rapid
button mashing.

Thoughts:
Earth's Mightiest Heroes, nuff said. Iron Man can be deadly in the right hands,
most use his Unibeam assist with dashing or teleports to throw off the
direction you want to guard, but being that quick is tricky. He is great
mobility wise, but I don't see him as too excellent.

Captain America [CAP]
DLC Costume Pack: Original Costume Pack

Table:
Intelligence |||
Strength |||
Speed ||
Stamina |||
Energy Projection |
Fighting Ability ||||||

First Appearance: Captain America Comics #1 (1941)

Real name: Steven "Steve" Rogers

Movelist:
Middle Kick: 2, 2
Air Raid Kick: u, 3
Anti-Ground Kick: d, 3
Shield Slash: QCF, AB (Direction changes on button)
Stars and Stripes: DPF, AB
Charging Star: QCB, AB
Backflip: AB + 4

Hyper Combos:
(1)Hyper Charging Star: QCB, HY
(1)Hyper Stars and Stripes: DPF, HY
(3)Final Justice: QCF, HY

Tips:
Shield Slash can bounce the opponent to keep the combo going.
Weak Sharging star can be canceled to Hyper Charging Star.
Often time you can cancel to Final Justice when the opponent is on the return
hit of Shield Slash.
If you're going for a combo and the opponent is blocking, Backflip is a good
way to get out of a possible retaliation.

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Shield Slash / Forward / Hyper Charging Star
2. Stars and Stripes / Up / Hyper Stars and Stripes
3. Charging Star / Forward / Hyper Charging Star

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Low Shield Slash can OTG
2. Backflip has some invincibility
3. Can Double Jump
4. Can increase number of hits with Hyper Charging Star with rapid button
mashing.

Thoughts:
For Freedom! Stars and Stripes! Cap is great, maybe not the best but certainly
great. He can juggle pretty well with Shield slash, they even had to fix a
nasty infinite combo with it back in MVC3. He's got some decent health and
Final Justice deals a good chunk of damage, and with Shield Slash being an OTG
it makes him even better for follow ups after air combos.

Deadpool [DDP]
DLC Costume Pack: Evil Twin Pack

Table:
Intelligence ||
Strength |||
Speed ||
Stamina ||||
Energy Projection ||

First Appearance: New Mutants #98 (1990)

Real name: Wade Wilson

Movelist:
Mad Wheel: F+2
Trigger Happy: QCF, AB (Press AB again immediately for Ninja Gift)
Katana-Rama!: DPF, AB (Press AB again for Chimichangas!)
Quick Work: QCB, AB
Teleporter: HCB, AB (Teleporter will malfunction every third use)

Hyper Combos:
(1)Happy Happy Trigger: QCF, HY
(1)Cuttin' Time: QCB, HY
(3)4th Wall Crisis: DPF, HY (Counter)

Tips:
Fierce Katana-Rama plus Chimichangas is a great OTG that leaves the enemy open.
Your 3 canceled into a strong Quick Work, can leave them open for Cuttin' Time.
4th Wall Crisis requires you to be physically hit, the enemy can throw you, but
try to use it in retaliation to a physical Hyper Combo like Maximum Wesker.
Teleporter malfunctioning will hurt you a little.

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Quick Work / Forward / Happy Happy Trigger
2. Katana Rama! / Down / Happy Happy Trigger
3. Trigger Happy / Up Forward / Happy Happy Trigger

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Increase number of hits with Happy Happy Trigger by rapid button mashing.
2. Special attacks can be canceled into Teleport

Thoughts:
Boop boop bee boop! Deadpool is one of those you really hate, he is easily
spammed, but you do see some fantasticly skilled Deadpool players. His OTGs are
great and he even has an OTG as an assist. I'd be careful when you fight one,
it could go either way.

Doctor Doom [DDM]
DLC Costume Pack: New Age of Heroes Pack

Table:
Intelligence ||||||
Strength ||||

Flight: QCB+4

Hyper Combos:
(1)Photon Array: QCB, HY (usable in air)
(1)Sphere Flame: DPF, HY
(3)Doom's Time: ACF, HY

Tips:
Sphere Flame is devastating if you get them with every hit and the explosion.
In a corner Molecular Shield can cancel to a Doom's Time.
Doom's standing Fierce is an OTG.
Photon Array in the air is a great finish to an air combo.

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Plasma Beam / Forward / Photon Array
2. Hidden Missiles / Up & down / Photon Array
3. Molecular Shield / Forward / Sphere Flame

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Can increase number of hits in Doom's Time and Photon Array with rapid
button mashing.

Thoughts:
You are beneath me, and it shows! Doom is crazy. There are fantastic Doom
players out there that simply dominate. He has the potential for super long
combos and combined with X-Factor it's practically a 100%, doo also has
really great assists for closing in or confusing guards. I've seen many many
Pro players with Doom on thier team.

Elastic Punch: F+3(D+F+3 for up angle)

Hyper Combos:
(1)Skrull Torch: ACF, HY
(1)Inferno: ACB, HY
(3)Death Penalty: DPF, HY

Tips:
Meteor Smash will cancel into an Inferno.
Weak Tenderizer can OTG and cancel into a Skrull Torch if you haven't used your
ground bounce.
Death Penalty can OTG
Fatal buster will cause a wall bounce
Super-Skrull's throw will also leave the enemy open for a Meteor Smash

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Stone Smite / Forward / Inferno
2. Orbital Grudge / Forward / Inferno
3. Tenderizer / Up forward / Skrull Torch

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Can increase number of hits on Inferno with rapid button mashing
2. Death Penalty automatically puts you on the opponent
3. Meteor Smash can be used in the air

Thoughts:
He loves you! INFERNOOOOOO! Super-Skrull, well I enjoy him, but I don't see
many online, I don't think I've seen an amazing Super-Skrull, be he definitely
has the potential. His assists are Meh, but everything else is there, maybe I
just haven't looks hard enough for a good Skrull player.

Thor [THR]
DLC Costume Pack: Original Costume Pack

Table:
Intelligence ||
Strength |||||||
Speed |||||||

First Appearance: Journey Into Mystery #83 (1962)

Real name: Thor Odinson

Movelist:
Mighty Spark: ACF, AB
Mighty Smash: DPF, AB
Mighty Strike: ACB, AB (Chargabe and useable in air)
Mighty Hurricane: HCB, AB
Mighty Speech: D, D, 3(hold)
Flight: QCB+ 4

Hyper Combos:
(1)Mighty Thunder: DPF, HY
(1)Mighty Tornado: ACF, HY
(1)Mighty Punish: HCB, HY

Tips:
A Weak Mighty Spark can cancel into a Mighty Tornado in an air combo.
Thor's Crouching Strong is great anti air.
Mighty Thunder can OTG.
The hit to Mighty Smash can OTG, but the timing is tricky to keep it going.
Try to use Mighty Speech while under the cover of your assists.

Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Mighty Spark / Forward / Mighty Thunder
2. Mighty Smash / Up forward / Mighty Tornado
3. Mighty Strike / Up / Mighty Tornado

UMVC3 Changes:
1. Less time to charge 3 Mighty Smash
2. Less time to charge Mighty Strike
3. Can increase number of hits with Mighty Tornado with rapid button mashing

Thoughts:
By Odin's Beard! Thor is too slow for me, while he does pack a punch and have
a pretty nice health pool, he just isn't mobile enough for me. His throw does
set up a nice air combo though.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She-Hulk [SHK]
DLC Costume Pack: Brawler Pack
Table:
Intelligence |||
Strength |||||||
Speed |||
Stamina ||||||
Energy Projection |
Fighting Ability ||||
First Appearance: The Savage She-Hulk #1 (1980)
Real name: Jennifer "Jen" Walters
Movelist:
Greeting Punch: F+3
Senton: D+3(in air)
Heavy Strike: QCF, AB
Sommersault Kick: DPF, AB
Runner's Start: D, D, 4
Chariot: F after Runner's Start. Follow ups: Torpedo 1, Clothesline 2,
Sommersault Kick 3.
Catapult: B After Runner's Start. Follow ups: Shooting Star1, Flying Drop Kick
2, Diving Senton 3.
Savage Swing: B+3
Hyper Combos:
(1)Taking out the Trash: DPF, HY
(1)Emerald Cannon: ACF, HY Follow up: QCF, 4 / QCF, 4 for Impulse and Disaster
(3)Road Rage: QCB, HY
Tips:
Torpedo is an OTG and can cancel into Emerald Cannon.
Torpedo can also cancel into another Runner's Start and then into a 4 for
another air combo, but timing is tight.
A Fierce Heavy Strike will leave them dazed and open.
Savage Swing leaves you badly open if you miss.
If you do Runner's Start and don't press forward, after a while She-Hulk will
run forward with super armor.
Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Torpedo / Front down / Emerald Cannon
2. Clothesline / Front / Emerald Cannon
3. Somersault Kick / Forward up / Emerald Cannon
UMVC3 Changes:
1. Slide distance is shorter
2. Added Savage Swing
3. With no commands input, Runners Start obtains super armor
4. Clotheslining an opponent in the air causes wall bounce
5. Can increase number of hits in Taking out the Trash by rotating analog stick
Thoughts:
She-Hulk SMASH! Heh, Imagine. Dang I do Love She-Hulk, she's very powerful,
with great health and the ability to move across the stage quickly. However
it get's tricky when you're facing a projectile heavy person as she needs to
always be close. I find her to be fantastic and even have seen her on some pro
teams.
Spider-Man [SDR]
DLC Costume Pack: Evil Twin Pack
Table:
Web Glide: AB+4
Web Throw: HCB, AB
Hyper Combos:
(1)Maximum Spider: QCF, HY
(1)Crawler Assault: DPF, HY
(1)Ultimate Web Throw: HCB, HY (Anti air only)
Tips:
The Spider Sting followup causes a ground bounce to continue the combo.
A mid-air web swing can cancel into a Maximum Spider.
Web Glide is great for covering the gap quickly.
Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Web Ball / Forward / Crawler Assault
2. Web Swing / Forward / Crawler Assault
3. Spider Sting / Up / Crawler Assault
UMVC3 Changes:
1. Web Glide can OTG
2. Can increase number of hits in Crawler assault by rapid button mashing
3. Can do air Web Swing from ground Web Swing
4. Can increase number of hits in Web Throw by rotating analog stick
Thoughts:
Maximum Spider! Having fun? Spider-man is ok. I don't really prefer him, he
seems a bit slower than previous incarnations and I disapprove of the Ultimate
Web Throw being onyl Anti Air. His assists are a little meh too.
X-23 [X23]
DLC Costume Pack: Femme Fatale Pack
Table:
Intelligence ||
Talon Attack: (In air) QCF, AB
Mirage Feint: ACB, AB
Hyper Combos:
(1)Rage Trigger: QCF, HY
(1)Weapon X Prime: DPF, HY
(3)Silent Kill: QCB, HY
Tips:
Ankle Slicer can OTG into a Rage Trigger.
Mirage Feint with Fierce can be very useful to combo if you can get the timing
right.
Talon Attack can also be used to cover a distance.
Remember in Silent Kill, you can't see yourself either.
Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Neck Slice / Forward / Rage Trigger
2. Ankle Slice / Forward / Rage Trigger
3. Crescent Scythe / Up / Rage Trigger
UMVC3 Changes:
1. Can increase number of hits in Rage Trigger with rapid button mashing.
Thoughts:
What would Wolvie do? X-23 is actually not a lot like Wolverine. She's much
faster and pretty damn good at keeping a combo up. She's got a useful OTG that
can cancel into a Hyper Combo and event he potential for a string of combos
with Mirage Feint. I'm not sure why she's not used more.
Flight: QCB, 4
Hyper Combos:
(1)Hyper Psionic Blaster: QCF, HY
(1)Hyper Battering Ram: QCB, HY
(1)Killer Illumination: DPF, HY
Tips:
Analysis Cube collects data on hit for a more powerful Psionic Blaster,
Barrier, Balloon Bomb, and Hyper Psionic Blaster.
Barrier is great for blocking projectiles.
Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. Barrier / Forward / Hyper Psionic Blast
2. Balloon Bomb / Forward / Hyper Psionic Blast
3. Psionic Blast / Forward / Hyper Psionic Blast
UMVC3 Changes:
1. Can increase number of his in killer illumination with rapid button mashing
Thoughts:
Cry for me! M.O.D.O.K. eludes me. He has a heck of a keep away game, and can
definitely harass from a distance. I just never knew how to use him effectively
He doesn't seem to do air combos well, and onyl really seems to be able to do
well if he spams Analysis Cube.
Phoenix [PHX]
Table:
Intelligence |||
Strength ||
First Appearance: The X-Men #1 (1963)
Real name: Jean Grey-Summers
Burn Out Beak: (in air) D+3
TK Shot: QCF, AB
Teleport: DPB, AB
Flight: QCB, 4
Hyper Combos:
(1)Phoenix Rage: ACF, HY
(1)Healing Field: QCB, HY
(5)Dark Phoenix: Health bar at zero with 5 hyper gauges
Tips:
Burn Out Beak causes a ground bounce to follow up with another air combo.
Phoenix Rage is great as an air combo finisher.
TK Shot Strong in mid air can be used as an OTG.
TK Shot homes and is great for using Teleport behind to confuse guarding.
Dark phoenix with X-Factor is very powerful.
Never pick Phoenix first.
Assist / Angle / Cross Over:
1. TK Shot / Forward / Phoenix Rage
2. TK Overdirve / Forward / Phoenix Rage
3. TK Trap / Up / Phoenix Rage
UMVC3 Changes:
1. Health lowered
2. TK Shot and Trap will disappear if Phoenix is hit
3. Will use Dark Phoenix if final hit puts Jean at 5 bars.
Thoughts:
I can't Control it! Dark phoenix Rises! Oh gosh I love Phoenix. Well a lot of
poeple don't. They like to call her over powered, but there's really an easy
counter to her, snap backs to get her out. She does have an insane amount of
control over the stage though, but definitely a glass cannon.
Thoughts:
Too much stimulation for you? Trish can be really deadly. I'mn OK with her, but
I've gotten my butt kicked by a few. She's fairly tehnical so it does take a
good bit of practice to get some combos down.
norm for his assist.
Goddess Bracelet! Arthur has a hell of a keep away. He can throw a lot at you
from a distance. He's small but his jump is a bit awkward. He did get a health
increase recently, so he may be even hardier.
*+ FAQ +*
*+*+*+*+*
Q: Why didn't you go more in depth with Missions?
A: Mission are incredibly self explanitory, I literally could not make it any
better.
Q: What's with the ??'s by Magneto's costume pack?
A: Magneto's alternate costume has had some issues with it being similar to a
Spainish leader, so they had to scrap it, as of right now I haven't heard
anything about a replacement.
Q: Why no explained combos?
A: I did provide you with tips to help build your own combos, and combos in
this game can get really convoluded. Explaining in text is a lot harder than if
someone saw it on thier own, I gave you the tools to formulate your own combos.
Use the tools you were given.
