=============================
Introduction (aka "About Me")
=============================

(Skip this if you don't care about me at all, haha) Hi, this is wowitsyugi,
and this is my Weapon FAQ. I don't usually write FAQs, as I prefer instead
to read them for a particular game and then play the game itself. After
years of doing this, I figured I'd give back a little and write one to help
others. Hopefully, if this guide is well-received, it will inspire others
who were like me (aka the "FAQ-readers") to become "FAQ-writers" too. :)

I started playing the "Warriors" series when Dynasty Warriors 3 came out.
Well, actually, I played the Yellow Turban stage in Dynasty Warriors 2, but I
must've been 9 or 10 at the time and don't remember much other than it being
extremely difficult (hey, I was 9 or 10 at the time!). Anyway, Dynasty
Warriors 3 was the first time I put real effort into playing a "Warriors"
game, and it was a fantastic game. And because of that, here I am today,
still playing these games. One of the main things that always bring me back
to these games is the vast variety of weapons available. I love collecting a
copy of each weapon for every character, and I tend to do this for every
"Warriors" game I play. And that is why this Weapon FAQ is being made.

Coming soon:
--> Information on DLC weapons as they continue to be released over time

Considering:
--> Maximized weapon attribute setup for every character. This is something
that requires a tremendous amount of time, so if I'm going to do it, the best
way would be to enlist the help of forumers to discuss maximization for all
132 characters (!) in the game. Unless the demand is high, don't get your
hopes up for this section.

===================================
I. General Weapon Information [GWI]
===================================

The weapon system used in Warriors Orochi 3 is virtually the same as the ones
used in the previous two games, except for some added features. If you
played either Warriors Orochi 1 or 2 (or both), then you will know exactly
what to expect.

--> Every character in the game has access to a 1-star, 2-star, 3-star, 4-
star, and various big-star weapons. The higher the number of stars, the
stronger the weapon is in terms of attack power. Big-star weapons start off
with a very low base attack but can be upgraded to rival or even surpass the
4-star weapons in terms of attack. The attack power is upgraded by raising
the weapon's compatibility (next point).

--> Weapon compatibility (the green bar underneath the weapon's image)
provides an attack boost for the current weapon. Weapon compatibility rises
for a weapon when that weapon is used to kill enemies in battle. More total
kills result in a higher compatibility and thus, a higher attack boost. When
the weapon compatibility has reached maximum, the weapon can no longer gain
an attack boost. 1/2/3/4/big-star weapons receive an upgrade of
+7/+11/+14/+18/+54, respectively, when the compatibility has reached maximum.

--> Weapons can also be upgraded by adding attributes to the weapon (e.g.
Bolt, Might, Brawn, Typhoon, etc.). These attributes can improve not only
the weapon's damage output but affect it in many other ways as well. The
next section, "II. Attributes", provides detailed information on all the
attributes available in the game. A weapon can carry up to 8 attributes.
Most attributes are stackable, meaning that they can be upgraded through
weapon fusion (next point) to improve their effect. Some attributes are non-
stackable (the rare/gold ones) and cannot be upgraded.

--> Weapon fusion is a concept first introduced in Warriors Orochi and works
the same way in WO3 as it did in WO1. If you have two weapons with various
attributes on them, you can combine the two weapons and in turn, transfer all
attributes from one weapon to the other. One weapon will be lost (the 2nd
one) while the other weapon (the 1st one) will have attributes from BOTH
weapons. If two weapons have the same stackable attribute, weapon fusion can
be used to improve the effect of that attribute. For example.........

[Before weapon fusion]

Weapon Attributes
------ ----------
   A Bolt +6 Courage +4 Diligence +2
   B Bolt +2 Diligence +3 Blast +1
______________________________________________________

[After weapon fusion]

   A Bolt +8 Courage +4 Diligence +5 Blast +1

Simple math right? Stackable attributes cap at +10. Gold/Rare attributes
are not stackable during weapon fusion. Weapon fusion is done by visiting
the weapon dealer and requires gems.

--> There are many different ways to obtain weapons in Warriors Orochi 3:
    1. From Weapon Boxes dropped by specific officers during battle
      - When you pick up a weapon box, you get one weapon for each of the 3
characters that you brought to battle.

      - In general, the higher the game difficulty and stage difficulty
(number of stars), the higher the quality of weapons. Thus, a one
star stage on Easy will give you the worst weapons while a 10 star
stage on Chaos will provide the best possible chances for good
weapons. Weapons received from weapon boxes come with random
attributes. Higher quality weapons come with more attributes and/or
greater attribute level (the "plus" number) than low-quality ones.
Gold/Rare attributes are confirmed to be obtainable by playing on
Hard stages with 8+ stars and Chaos stages with 6+ stars. There have
been reports of people finding Gold attributes on easier difficulties
as well, so you can try them if you're feeling lucky. In general, it
is better to play high difficulties if you really want the Gold
attributes. Big-star weapons cannot be obtained through this method.

     - The same officers always drop weapon boxes in each stage. However, if
your weapon has the Prosperity attribute on it, then there is a chance
that any officer will drop a weapon box upon death.

    2. From the weapon dealer
     - The weapon dealer is found in the Camp and sells weapons in exchange
for gems and crystals. Big-star weapons are always available in the
weapon shop at any time and cost gems + crystals. 1-4 star weapons
only cost gems. If you are only on Chapter 1, the weapon dealer will
sell 1-2 star weapons. He sells 2-3 star weapons during Chapter 2,
mostly 3-star weapons during Chapter 3, and 2-4 star weapons during
Chapter 4. You can see all attributes on a weapon before you purchase
it, so the weapon dealer is a good way to obtain attributes that you
want on a weapon. You cannot obtain Gold attributes from this method.

     - The stage difficulty of the stage you just completed does affect the
quality of weapons that the weapon dealer sells. If you had just
completed a stage with a low number of stars, the weapon dealer will
sell cheaper weapons (in the 3-5K gem range) with very little
attributes. If you are coming off a victory in a harder stage (high
number of stars), the weapon dealer will sell more expensive weapons
(8-10K gems) with many more attributes.

    3. Through lottery tickets
     - Lottery tickets are given to you by allies present during a battle at
the end of battle. If your character's bond with one of the allies is
above one bar (in the yellow), then there is a chance they will give
you a lottery ticket at the end of battle. Visit the weapon dealer to
use lottery tickets, and you will receive 10 random weapons for your
unlocked characters. The quality of weapons you get is based on the
quality of weapons being sold at the weapon shop, so it is generally
wise to save lottery tickets for Chapter 4 if you wish to receive
       higher-quality weapons.

    4. Through maxed out bonds
     - If your character's bond with one of the allies present in a battle is
maxed out (all 3 bars), then you will always receive a weapon for that
character from this ally as a gift at the end of battle (that's a lot
of prepositional phrases in sequence!). From my experience, you will
always get a 2-4 star weapon, regardless of what difficulty you were
       playing on.

     - You can only receive one weapon per character per stage using this
method. This means that even if one character has maxed bonds with
every ally in a stage, only one of the allies will give you a weapon.

    5. DLC
     - Weapons bought from Weapon Packs are typically available to you
       immediately.

     - Weapons bought as part of a Stage Pack need to be unlocked by beating
the appropriate stages on any difficulty (using any team).

--> Weapons that appear in this game were taken from Dynasty Warriors 7:
Xtreme Legends and Samurai Warriors 2/3: Xtreme Legends, although some big-
star weapons were taken from Dynasty Warriors 4 and 6 (e.g. Meng Huo's Beast
King from DW4, Zhang He's Mystery from DW6, etc.). Certain weapons were also
created just for this game (e.g. Sima Zhao's Celestial Fang, Zhuge Liang's
Swan Wing, various "joke" weapons for the "Others" faction, etc.).

--> Finally, every character can hold up to 8 weapons at once (excluding DLC
weapons). If a character has 8 weapons and he/she gains another one, the
game will prompt you to either replace an existing one with the new weapon or
discard the new weapon entirely.

============================
II. Weapon Attributes [ATRB]
============================

--> Every weapon can carry up to 8 attributes.

--> Attributes that are elemental (Absorption/Osmosis included) generally
activate on charge attacks (but not all) and at the end of the square string.
However, some characters get elemental activation for R1 specials (e.g. Nuwa,
Toyotomi, Taigong Wang), EX attacks (e.g. Wang Yuanji, Guan Ping, Yueying),
and Musou attacks (e.g. Sun Ce, Nuwa).

--> Attributes such as Celerity, Guerdon, Prosperity, Providence, and Wisdom
require the character equipped with them to do the killing.

Stackable Attributes (cap at +10)
---------------------------------

Absorption ("elemental") - absorbs life from enemy when attacking

Agility - increases attack speed on all attacks

Blast - increases damage for projectiles and shockwave attacks

Bolt (elemental) - stuns enemies and deals fixed damage relative to enemy's
max health. Damage can be stacked with Wind and Slay as well.

Brawn - increases damage for normal (non-charge, non-musou, non-special)
attacks

Cavalier - increases damage for attacks while mounted

Celerity - movement speed occasionally doubles (for 30 seconds) upon
defeating enemy officers.

Chronos - extends resting time in between combos. Combos take longer to
terminate.

Courage - increases damage against enemy officers

Destruction - increases damage of Musou attack

Diligence - increases experience obtained during kills

Flak - increases damage against airborne enemies

Flame (elemental) - burns the enemies, causing depleting health while
airborne

Frenzy - increases damage of Special (R1) attacks. Non-damaging R1s receive
no additional effect (e.g. Gracia, Liu Shan, etc.).

Guerdon - regular peons (not enemy officers as listed in the in-game
description!) occasionally drop gems upon death.

Harmony - increases rate of weapon compatibility increase (takes less kills
to rise)

Ice (elemental) - occasionally freezes enemies, rendering them motionless for
a set time. Higher attribute level increases chances of freezing.

Industry - increases rate of proficiency gain (takes less kills to rise)

Might - increases damage of charge attacks

Osmosis ("elemental") - absorbs musou from enemy when attacking

Prosperity - enemy officers occasionally drop weapon boxes upon death.

Providence - enemy officers occasionally drop item boxes upon death.

Reach - increases attack range, creating an extended hitbox

Slay (elemental) - chance to one-hit kill regular peons and deals fixed
damage relative to enemy's max health. Damage can be stacked with Bolt and
Wind as well.

Wind (elemental) - makes attacks unblockable and deals fixed damage relative
to enemy's max health. Damage can be stacked with Bolt and Slay as well.

Wisdom - regular peons (not enemy officers as listed in the in-game
description!) occasionally drop a mini-EXP scroll (+150 EXP) upon death.

Gold/Rare/Non-stackable Attributes
----------------------------------

--> Confirmed on Hard 8+ stars and Chaos 6+ stars. It is possible to get on
easier difficulties as well but will require extreme luck.

Brilliance - when Musou gauge is full, every attack carries elements
currently equipped on the weapon. Brilliance does not work with Absorption
and Osmosis for normal attacks.

Confluence - True Triple Attack meter fills up faster during combos.

Echo - enemies hit will produce a shockwave around their bodies that damages
(but does not flinch) surrounding enemies. Echo seems to activate on every
non-musou attack except for some hits of certain charge attacks (e.g. the
middle hits of Ling Tong's C6 don't have Echo).

Multi - produces a clone (during normal attacks) that attacks the enemies in
the same way, a split second after your attack. The clones do not carry any
elements.

Typhoon - creates a damaging whirlwind in front for every normal attack (and
most charges and R1 specials)

Verity - Musou attacks always become True Musous regardless of health status.
Characters with "Dynasty Warriors"-type Musous get extra damage and fire
element for their True Musous. Characters with "Samurai Warriors"-type
Musous get extra attacks at the end of theirs.

========================================
III. Weapon Database (with stats) [WDTB]
========================================

--> Because there are a whopping 132 characters (!) in this game, this
section is extremely long. I would advise you to do a computer search for
your character of choice by name rather than scrolling through all of this.
If you wish to scroll, then.........

--> Characters are grouped by factions and within each faction, are listed in
the order that they appear in the character select screen, from left to
right. Characters are grouped based on how they appear IN THIS GAME, meaning
that characters like Musashi and Kojiro are placed in the Samurai Warriors 3
category, despite not appearing in that game. I don't want 100 emails
telling me that those characters should be in SW2 category.

--> Big-star weapons tend to have a hidden, innate effect when used in
battle. These "big-star hidden abilities" vary depending on the character
wielding them, and for a given character, the hidden ability is the same for
ALL of their big-star weapons (unless stated otherwise). The big-star hidden
ability is character-specific, not weapon-specific. For example, Cao Cao
gets extra reach on ALL of his big-star weapons, but Xiahou Dun does NOT get
extra reach even though he uses the SAME big-star weapons! I repeat, the
effect is character-specific, not weapon-specific.

--> General format used for this section:

Character Name
--------------
Weapon class:
1. 1-star weapon. Attack: Base Attack (+boost from max compatibility)
2. 2-star weapon. Attack: Base Attack (+boost from max compatibility)
3. 3-star weapon. Attack: Base Attack (+boost from max compatibility)
4. 4-star weapon. Attack: Base Attack (+boost from max compatibility)

**Big-star Weapons**
Shares* with:

1. Big-star weapon 1. Attack: Base Attack (+boost from max compatibility)
  - Weapon class:
2. And so on

Big-star hidden ability**:

* "Shares", in this case, means that the characters involved have access to
the same weapons in the weapon shop. For example, Guan Suo and Ling Tong
share a big-star weapon called Shockwave. However, even if you buy Shockwave
for Ling Tong, you'll still need to buy it again for Guan Suo if you want
Guan Suo to have the weapon as well.

** As stated above (third point), this is the character-specific hidden
effect that is applied to ALL of his/her big-star weapons (unless stated
otherwise). Also, DLC weapons with a +54 attack boost at max compatibility
are treated as big-star weapons and thus, also benefit from having the hidden
effect. If a character has no big-star hidden ability listed below, then
it means that he/she either doesn't have a hidden effect or that it is
currently unknown (likely that latter). Note: For a list of big-star hidden
abilities, please see the "VIII. Frequently Asked Questions" section
(question 11).

IV. DLC Weapons [WDLC]
======================

--> DLC weapons were included in the previous section (III) for the
appropriate characters. This section is here to group them together for
easier viewing.

--> To access the DLC weapons:
    - Go to "Preparations" (during pre-mission preparation screen or press
      'Start' in the camp)
    - Select the appropriate character
    - Select his or her current weapon
    - Press L1/R1 to cycle among normal weapons and DLC weapons

--> Weapons included in a Weapon Pack are available immediately. Weapons
included as part of a Stage Pack need to be unlocked by beating the
appropriate stages on any difficulty (using any team).

--> DLC weapons are classified as 4-stars by default. However, some can gain
an attack boost of +54 at max compatibility (like the big-stars!).

--> It seems you can only acquire one copy of each DLC weapon for the
appropriate characters. Fortunately, there is no way to delete the DLC
weapons, so you won't lose them by accident. Weapon fusion works with DLC
weapons as well, allowing attributes to be added to them.

=====================================
V. "Personal" Big-Star Weapons [PBSW]
=====================================

--> Even though each character has access to many big-star weapons in the
weapon shop, it is apparent that certain big-star weapons "belong" to
specific characters for many reasons (similar artwork to the character's 1-4
star weapon, used by the character in a past game, etc.). For example, Sakon
Shima has access to many big-star weapons of the Great Sword class, but Blade
of Blood is his "personal" big-star weapon since it A) looks like his 1-4
star weapon and B) was used by him in SW3: XL (also in SW2: XL, although
under a different name).

--> This section is dedicated to those people who like giving each character
their own "personal" big-star weapon. If you don't care about this at all
and don't really care if say, Zhao Yun equips Keiji Maeda's Pike (Dragon's
Maw), then this section won't be of much use to you.

--> Thanks to BMSirius of the Warriors Orochi 3 forum on Gamefaqs for
creating a list of "personal" big-star weapons for each character. The
information used below is his, although I took the time to alphabetize his
list (by character name) for easier viewing.

--> Some terms to clarify regarding the list below:
    - "Unique" means that the weapon was created for this game (is original).
    - "Clone" means that the artwork for the two weapons is the exact same.
    - "Recolor" means that the two weapons look the same but have different
      coloring.
    - "Unrelegated" means that the specific weapon could not be assigned to
      any character in the game.
    - DW7 = Dynasty Warriors 7, DW6 = Dynasty Warriors 6 and so on
    - SW3: XL = Samurai Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends or Sengoku Musou 3Z, since
it was released in Japan only

--> Finally, DW7 DLC weapons that appear as big-stars in this game come from
Weapon Rank Pack 1, and DW7 DLC "joke" weapons come from Weapon Rank Pack 2.

VI. Fixed Weapon Box Drops [FWBD]
=================================

--> In every stage, the same two officers always drop a weapon box 100% of
the time (exception: DLC Stage "Duelling Heroes" from Stage Pack 2 has three
fixed weapon box drops). This section is here to answer "who?".

--> Note that with Prosperity attribute on your weapon, there is a chance
that any officer will drop a weapon box upon death. For the officers listed
below, you do NOT need Prosperity to force a weapon box drop. They will
always drop one regardless.

--> If you need help locating an officer, press 'Start' and go to 'Army
Info'. Press L1/R1, and highlight the officer's name to see his/her
location. Some officers may appear later on in the stage and/or require
certain actions to trigger their appearance. These officers will be noted
with an asterisk (*).

--> Stages are listed by chapter with the main story stages first and the
gaiden stages last. Finally, DLC stages are included at the end.

--> Important Note: NONE of the officers below are 'missable' (even the
asterisked ones) unless you rush and kill the commander asap. Sometimes, you
may need to be patient and wait for reinforcements to come or a certain event
to happen. The only exception here is Goemon Ishikawa in the DLC stage "In
Vino Veritas" (Stage Pack 1), who is missable.

VII. Weapon Farming Tips [WFRM]
===============================

--> Bring characters with the Fortune skill to battle and get them to
proficiency S. Fortune improves the quality of weapons (and items) obtained
in battle. The three characters with Fortune skill are Bao Sanniang,
Xiaoqiao, and Gracia. It is unclear whether this skill actually stacks, but
if you're farming weapons for only one character, it won't hurt to bring TWO
Fortune characters to battle alongside your main.

Unlock Requirements:
Xiaoqiao - Clear Chapter 1, Battle of Odawara Castle
Bao Sanniang - Clear Chapter 2, Battle of Kyushu
Gracia - Clear Chapter 3, Battle of Guangzong

--> Equip your characters with Pleiades Belt. This item increases the
quality of weapons you obtain in battle. Only the character equipped with
the item will receive its effect, so if you want all 3 characters to get
better weapons, you'll need to equip all 3 with Pleiades Belt.

Unlock Requirements:
1. Chapter 3, Battle of Changban (non-redux). Hard or Chaos.
2. Bring one (or more) of these characters: Xiaoqiao, Ryu Hayabusa, Bao
Sanniang, Ieyasu Tokugawa
3. Get 1000 KOs total as a team. It doesn't matter who does the killing.
The item will be dropped by an enemy on the 1,001st kill.

--> Equip Prosperity attribute on at least one character (aim for Prosperity
+10). This allows any officer to drop a weapon box by chance, as long as the
character with Prosperity equipped is doing the killing. Find a stage with
lots of officers (Rescue at Yi Ling has 25 officers in total) and kill, kill,
kill! From my experience, with Prosperity at +10, you will get a weapon box
30-40% of the time when you kill an officer. Find a stage with 20+ officers,
and you're looking at roughly 7-10 weapon boxes per run! (more or less
depending on your luck)

--> Play on higher difficulties and more difficult stages (more stars).
Recall that higher difficulty = higher quality weapons. Once again, Rescue
at Yi Ling is a 9-star stage, so if you can consistently beat it on Hard or
Chaos, you can get really good weapons in a short amount of time. In fact,
Rescue at Yi Ling is pretty much the "all-purpose" stage for grinding and
farming (proficiency, compatibility, experience, weapons, items). If you're
farming for weak characters on hard difficulties, you can bring an
overpowered character with Prosperity and solo the stage.

--> Update: If you bought DLC Stage Pack 2, then the stage "Duelling
Heroes" has THREE fixed weapon box drops (Dodomeki, Kojiro Sasaki,
Achilles) as opposed to the regular two for every other stage. It's
a 9-star stage with 21 officers in total (not counting Nemea at the
end) and can be completed in around 10 minutes (on horse).

--> Combine all 4 of the above tips for efficient weapon farming.

--> See the previous section (VI) for a list of fixed drops. Make sure you
kill those officers before they die across the map.

6. What's the fastest way to reach max. compatibility with a weapon?

8. I combined Absorption/Osmosis with Brilliance. How come I don't gain any

9. I added the Reach attribute to my weapons, but it doesn't seem to help

------
1Q: _______ is wrong, or ________ needs clarification/additional information.

1A: If you think something needs fixing or you desire more content in a
specific area, then please contact me and let me know. My contact
information is listed below. (See "X. Contact Information")

If you wish to add to the FAQ in any way as well, then please contact me.
You will be fully credited for your work.
------
2Q: You listed Musashi Miyamoto as a Samurai Warriors 3 character when he's
not even in that game!

2A: As I explained earlier, I put characters in factions based on how Tecmo-
Koei grouped them IN THIS GAME. In this game, characters such as Musashi,
Goemon, and Kojiro are placed in the SW3 category, so that's where they'll
appear in my FAQ. So don't ask me why, ask Tecmo-Koei.
------
2.5Q: The above two aren't questions.

2.5A: Yes, I'm aware, and neither is this one. Moving on, shall we? (Now
there's a question)
------
3Q: Are the big-star weapons really the strongest weapons available for each
character? How come they start off with such a low attack compared to the
4th weapons?

3A: For most characters, yes. The big-star weapons start off with a low base
attack but gain a major boost when compatibility rises (+54 at max
compatibility). On the other hand, 4-star weapons start with high base
attack but only gain a boost of +18 at max compatibility. For most
characters, the big-star weapons become their strongest weapons (highest
attack power). You really didn't think the weapon dealer was going to charge
you 20,000+ gems for a crap weapon, did you? Some characters, however, do
have a 4-star weapon that ends up stronger than their best big-star weapon.
------
4Q: Who are these characters then with stronger 4th weapons than their best
big-star?

4A: First off, there are two characters whose 4-star and best big-star end up
with the same attack at max compatibility:

Shingen Takeda (4-star: 43+18, big-star: 7+54)
Zuo Ci (4-star: 47+18, big-star: 11+54)

The characters with stronger 4-stars than big-stars are:

Keiji Maeda (4-star: 47+18, big-star: 10+54)
Musashi Miyamoto* (4-star: 47+18, big-star: 9+54)
Achilles (4-star: 48+18, big-star: 10+54)
Lu Bu* (4-star: 50+18, big-star: 10+54)
Susano'o (4-star: 50+18, big-star: 12+54)
Orochi X (4-star: 51+18, big-star: 12+54)
Tadakatsu Honda (4-star: 51+18, big-star: 10+54)

* I'd argue that the Reach bonus from his big-star weapons makes
them the better choices for him though.
------
5Q: You listed big-star weapon X for character X. When I go to the weapon
dealer to buy it, it's not there. Are you sure?

5A: Yes. Some characters have a TON of big-star weapons available to them
(e.g. sword users, spear users). The weapon dealer usually only sells 3-5
big-star weapons at a time, and the ones he does sell are random. Therefore,
sometimes, not all big-star weapons will be available for purchase at once.
You will have to go clear a stage, and the weapon dealer will be "refreshed"
with a new batch of random weapons when you come back. If you're lucky this
time, he'll sell the one you want.
------
6Q: What's the fastest way to reach max. compatibility with a weapon?

6A: There are a few ways to increase the rate of compatibility gain: bring
Gyuki with proficiency S (his Expertise skill increases compatibility gain),
and equip the Harmony attribute on your weapon. Like proficiency gain, the
difficulty does not affect the rate of increase, but the stage difficulty
DOES. Playing a high-star stage will help you raise compatibility faster.
Depending on how many of the above tactics you employ, it'll take roughly
3,000-5,000 kills to bring a weapon to max. compatibility. Rescue at Yi Ling
is an easy 4,000+ kills considering that after the fire attack (1000 kills or
so), all the enemies will be left with very little HP.

Update: Make sure you play on a high-star stage! I tested on a few one-star
stages, and it took 8000+ kills to max out the compatibility of a fresh
weapon! (and this was with Gyuki on the team)
------
7Q: Is there a recommended weapon attribute setup that works for every
character?

7A: In short, no. The best setup for each character is entirely dependent on
the character's moveset. If you're not satisfied with that answer, then you
can try this general setup:

Bolt, Wind, Slay, Absorption, Agility, Brilliance, Typhoon, Echo

That should turn Chaos into Easy mode for most characters. If you like
abusing Musou attacks and R1 specials (I'm looking at you Nuwa!), then you
can replace Brilliance with Osmosis.
------
8Q: I combined Absorption/Osmosis with Brilliance. How come I don't gain any
life/musou when I hit enemies?

8A: Brilliance does not work with Absorption and Osmosis (for normal
attacks). Recall that the description says "all attacks are imbued with
elements". Absorption and Osmosis aren't really elements now, are they?
------
9Q: I added the Reach attribute to my weapons, but it doesn't seem to help
at all. What gives?

9A: Unfortunately, Reach does not work (or has minimal effect) with a lot of
weapons and attacks in this game. Any kind of ranged attack, such as
shockwaves, magic, projectiles, throwing knives, etc. will not work with
Reach. Reach only applies to the conventional "slash" attacks, and even
then, there are many, MANY exceptions. Typhoon is a passable alternative to
Reach for extra range if Reach doesn't seem to do anything.
------
10Q: Is there any way to delete/sell weapons that you don't want? How about
deleting certain attributes that you don't want on a weapon?

10A: The only way to delete a weapon is by having 8 different weapons for a
character and then gaining another one. The game will allow you to replace
one of the 8 with the new one. Otherwise, there is no other way, and you
can't sell weapons either (a one-way weapon dealer...great). Well, you can
"delete" weapons for a price by fusing it with another weapon. I heard that
there may be a patch coming soon that will allow you to delete weapons the
real way, but don't take my word on it. Similarly, you can't delete
attributes on a weapon. However, if that weapon has the full 8 attributes,
then you can use weapon fusion to replace one attribute with another.
------
11Q: I heard that some big-star weapons have hidden "special effects" that
are not mentioned in the game. What are the weapons with hidden effects, and
what are the effects?

11A: The current theory is that every character has a big-star hidden ability
that is applied to ALL of their big-star weapons* (some exceptions - Guan
Ping, Xiahou Ba). Unfortunately, for most characters, this hidden ability is
currently unknown. Only characters with a reach bonus on their big-star
weapons are known at the moment. Remember, the hidden ability is character-
specific, not weapon-specific. For example, Cao Cao and Xiahou Dun share the
same big-star weapons, but only Cao Cao gets extra reach when using them.
It's a character-based ability and has nothing to do with the weapon itself.

--> Characters with extra reach** on their big-star weapons:

Wei - Cao Cao (extra reach on all attacks), Xu Zhu (jump attack and charge
attacks), Cao Pi (jump attack and charge attacks), Pang De (jump attack only)

Wu - Lu Xun (jump attack and charge attacks), Sun Jian (all attacks), Taishi
Ci (jump attack and charge attacks), Lu Meng (all attacks), Huang Gai (jump
attack and charge attacks), Sun Quan (all attacks)

Shu - Liu Bei (jump attack only), Guan Ping (all attacks, does not work with
Guardian's Pride and Mystic Energy), Liu Shan (all attacks), Xingcai (jump
attack only)

Jin - Sima Shi (all attacks), Sima Zhao (all attacks), Xiahou Ba (all
attacks, does not work with Guardian's Pride and Mystic Energy)

Others 1 - Lu Bu (all attacks), Yuan Shao (all attacks), Fu Xi (all attacks),
Nuwa (all attacks)
Others 2 - no one

Samurai Warriors 1 - no one

Samurai Warriors 2 - no one

Samurai Warriors 3 - Musashi Miyamoto (all attacks), Kojiro Sasaki (all
attacks)

* DLC weapons with a +54 attack boost at max compatibility are treated as
big-star weapons and thus, also benefit from having the hidden effect.

** The reach bonus only applies to attacks that are normally affected by the
'Reach' attribute. Thus, when I say "all attacks", I mean "all attacks that
are affected by Reach attribute".
------
12Q: I also heard that some big-star weapons have special "visual effects",
such as electricity running across the weapon. Who are the characters with
these weapons, and what are the different visual effects?

12A: Any character whose big-star weapon is a clone of his/her 4-star (exact
same artwork, same coloring) gets special effects on the big-star weapon.
The effect is visual only and does NOT affect gameplay in any way. These
characters and their weapons are:

Conjurer's Rod (for Taigong Wang) - Wind. Wind circulating around the weapon
with bamboo leaves floating around

Nagamasa's Love (for Oichi) - Whirlwind. Wind circulating w/o the leaves

Galactic Lord (for Hanbei Takenaka) - Ice. Blue smoke coming out with pieces
of ice present
Sacred Lily (for Joan of Arc) - Ice

Sudden Death (for No) - Fire. Flames circulating with sparkle effects
Python (for Kai) - Fire

Destructive Blast (for Dong Zhuo) - Void. Dark smoke emitting from weapon
with sparkle and electricity effects
Silent Assassin (for Hanzo Hattori) - Void
Sanguine Orb (for Kanbei Kuroda) - Void
Lightning Basara (for Goemon Ishikawa) - Void

Hand of Fate (for Zhang He) - Lightning (yellow). Yellow electricity effects
surrounding weapon
Eagle Eye (for Magoichi Saika) - Lightning (yellow)
Goldenhawk (for Motonari Mori) - Lightning (yellow)

Dead of Night (for Zhou Tai) - Lightning (blue). Blue electricity effects
surrounding weapon
Staff of Victory (for Sun Wukong) - Lightning (blue)
Abyssal Misery (for Toshiie Maeda) - Lightning (blue)
Undying Loyalty (for Masanori Fukushima) - Lightning (blue)
Lightning Strike* (for Goemon Ishikawa) - Lightning (blue)

* Clone of his 3-star weapon

Thanks to WynterRayn from KoeiWarriors forum for the above information!

13Q: I heard there's a weapon glitch that allows any character to wield any
weapon. Is this true and if so, how do I do it?

13A: What is this? Dynasty Warriors 7 all over again? Jokes aside, the answer
is "somewhat". There IS a glitch that allows characters to wield different
weapons, but some weapons remain incompatible for certain characters. If you
use the glitch and the weapon turns out to be incompatible for that
character, the game will freeze! In either case, here is a link to
WynterRayn's Youtube video demonstrating a compatible weapon (notice Wang Yi
is using Honda's weapon? Cool!):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxGhSW0DPEY

Read the video description for step-by-step instructions on how to perform
the glitch. The glitch stops working when the first patch for the game is
downloaded, but as of this moment (6/21/12), only Japan has received that
patch (i.e. it still works for the English version!). People have reported
problems trying to perform this glitch on the 360, so it may be PS3 version
only.
