    The expansion to Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 includes 5 new challenges.
    For the fun of it, I suggest trying to solve them without following a guide!
    If you're really stumped, check out the hint(s) that I provide for each
    challenge to see if you can solve it that way before viewing the solution.

    ***Challenge C1: Jitte Choice***
    ********************************
    ********************************

    OBJECTIVE
    ---------
    
    "You and your opponent have four life, but you have more creatures and
    Umezawa's Jitte. Find a way to win this turn."

    ----
    
    The cards in your hand are useless. Nasty trick by the developers, eh?

    SOLUTION
    --------
    
    Equip Umezawa's Jitte to one of your creatures and activate the equipment's
    ability to add +2+2 to the equipped creature.
    
    Repeat the process for your other two creatures so that all three have 4
    power.
    
    Attack with all of your creatures and one of them will get through for the 
    win.

    ***Challenge C2: Curses!***
    ***************************
    ***************************

    OBJECTIVE
    ---------
    
    "Your curses are keeping your opponent weak, but his Oracle reveals
    Witchbane Orb on the top of his library. Win this turn before he can break
    free from your curses!"
    
    (Try to find more than one solution to this challenge!)

    ------
    
    To win, you will need a card that is not in your hand or on the battlefield
    at the beginning of your turn.

    ------
    
    The mechanics of Doublestrike must be exploited in combination with other
    cards.

    SOLUTION #1 (Precise)
    ---------------------
    
    Cast Diabolic Intent and target Bitterheart Witch and choose Curse of the
    Bloodletting to put on the battlefield, targeting Yeva (for this solution,
    it does not matter which card you take from Diabolic Intent).
    
    Cast Curse of Stalked Prey.
    
    Cast another Curse of Stalked Prey.
    
    Cast Hideous Visage so that your opponent cannot block either of your
    creatures.
    
    Attack with both of your creatures to win. When Ridgetop Raptor's Double
    Strike does its First Strike damage, your Curse of Stalked Prey cards will
    activate, adding +2+2 to Ridgetop Raptor before normal combat damage
    takes place. With Curse of Bloodletting doubling damage all around, you'll 
    do exactly the 15 points of damage you need!
    
    
    ----------------------
    SOLUTION #2 (Overkill)
    ----------------------
    
    Cast Diabolic Intent and target Bitterheart Witch and choose Curse of the
    Bloodletting to put on the battlefield, targeting Yeva. Select Trumpet Blast
    from the effect of Diabolic Intent.
    
    Cast Hideous Visage so that your opponent cannot block either of your
    creatures.
    
    Declare both of your creatures as attackers and then stop the timer to
    cast Trumpet Blast. 26 damage! 
    
    (If you want to add insult to injury, before declaring attackers, cast a
    Curse of Stalked Prey. The +1+1 counter added to the Ridgetop Raptor earned
    during first strike will increase your total damage to 28!)

    ***Challenge C3: Golem Defeat***
    ********************************
    ********************************

    OBJECTIVE
    ---------
    
    "Between your hydra and your golems, can you engineer your opponent's
    defeat this turn?"

    A full understanding of proliferate mechanics are required to win this 
    challenge.

    Your first step is to find a way to draw 3 cards.

    -------
    
    Consider both +1+1 counters for your Hydra and -1-1 counters for your 
    opponent's Shivan Dragon.

    SOLUTION
    --------
    
    Cast Aggressive Urge on any one of your golems to draw 3 cards.
    
    Cast Fume Spitter. 
    
    Sacrifice Fume Spitter and target Shivan Dragon to give it a -1-1 counter.
    
    Cast Grim Affliction on one of your golems. This triggers a proliferate
    effect 3 times which will buff your Hydra to 7/7 and reduce the Shivan Dragon
    to a 1/1. 
    
    Cast Spread the Sickness on one of your golems. This again triggers a 
    proliferate effect 3 times which will kill the Shivan Dragon and also make
    your Hydra 10/10, giving it trample. 
    
    With your opponent reduced to only 7 toughness worth of defense between
    all of his creatures, attack with your Hydra for a guarenteed 3 trample
    damage (don't be surprised if your opponent defends with his furnace whelp,
    buffing it to kill your hydra--you will still win).

    ***Challenge C4: Deadman's Gamble***
    ************************************
    ************************************

    OBJECTIVE
    ---------
    
    "You've drawn Gamble. It will give you a chance at any card you need, but can
    you use it and be certain you'll win this turn?"

    HINT #1
    -------
    
    Ignore your opponent's 23 life. Instead, defeat him with 10 Infect damage.

    HINT #2

    It's all about Necrotic Ooze.
    
    
    -------
    HINT #3
    -------
    
    If Gamble is the last card in your hand, when you cast it, the card you draw
    will be immediately discarded.
    
    
    --------
    SOLUTION
    --------
    
    Cast Geth's Verdict, targeting Odric, who will sacrifice the Roc egg and 
    produce a 3/3 flying bird token. 
    
    Cast Vector Asp.
    
    With Metalcraft now in effect, Cast Galvanic Blast and target the 3/3 flying 
    bird token.
    
    Cast Dross Hopper.
    
    Cast your last card, Gamble, and select Grimgrin, Corpse-Born, which will 
    be immediately discarded.
    
    The objective now is to turn your Necrotic Ooze into a flying creature with
    10 power and Infect by sacrificing all of your creatures while buffing the
    slime!  
    
    At this point, Necrotic Ooze should have borrowed an ability from Grimgrin. 
    Activate it to sacrifice the Clockwork Hydra and give Necrotic Ooze a +1+1
    counter.
    
    Necrotic Ooze now has the Hydra's ability to produce counters! Activate the 
    tap ability to put a +1+1 counter on Necrotic Ooze.
    
    Use the Grimgrin's ability again to produce another +1+1 counter and untap 
    Necrotic Ooze. Sacrifice the Vector Asp.
    
    Use the Hydra's ability again, tapping Necrotic Ooze and producing another 
    +1+1 counter.
    
    Use the Grimgrin's ability yet again to produce another +1+1 counter and 
    untap Necrotic Ooze. Sacrifice the Dross Hopper.
    
    Now the Necrotic Ooze has the Dross Hopper's ability. Activate it to add
    flying to the ever-growing list of the slime's skills, and sacrifice the 
    Moltensteel Dragon.
    
    Use the Moltensteel Dragon's ability by paying 2 life for +1+0. 
    
    You should now have 10 power. Activate the Vector Asp's ability to give
    Infect to the Necrotic Ooze.
    
    Attack with your flying, infectious, gelatinous monstrosity for a poisonous 
    victory!

    ***Challenge C5: Into the Pod***
    ********************************
    ********************************

    OBJECTIVE
    ---------
    
    "The board is clogged with creatures. Birthing Pod will let you upgrade one,
    but what will help you win this turn?"

    HINT #1
    -------
    
    Analyze your creatures and think about how you can get more than one use out
    of the Birthing Pod. Now you know what creature to sacrifice first!

    Your library contains a 2nd Birthing Pod. You will need it.

    -------
    
    You will need to cast a spell from your opponent's graveyard. Find a way to
    fill it with useful spells!

    Find a way to use the Lifelink effect on Izzet's True Conviction enchantment
    against him.

    SOLUTION
    --------
    
    Use the Birthing Pod on the Dross Scorpion and target the Birthing Pod with
    the scorpion's ability to untap it.
    
    Select the Hoarding Dragon to put onto the battlefield. As it is summoned,
    you will have to select an artifact from your library to exile temporarily.
    Select the 2nd Birthing Pod. 
    
    Use the original Birthing Pod on the Hoarding Dragon, which will place the
    2nd Birthing Pod in your hand. 
    
    Select Geralf's Mindcrusher and target Izzet with the milling ability. Your
    opponent's graveyard will come in handy later. Geralf Mindcrusher will come
    back from the grave with Undying.
    
    Cast the 2nd Birthing Pod.
    
    Use the 2nd Birthing Pod on Geralf Mindcrusher and target Izzet with the
    milling ability again.
    
    Select Chancellor of the Spires. As it comes into play, choose False Cure
    from Izzet's graveyard. Now your opponent's Lifelink from True Conviction
    will hurt him more than it will heal him!
    
    Attack with all of your creatures to win!
