Spartacus Legends is the new freely downloadable game from Ubisoft that was
released on the PS Store and Xbox Marketplace in June of 2013. The game is
based off the fantastic Starz TV show of the same name. While the game is not
exactly the best game I have ever played, it is quite fun because of the
leveling, equipment gathering and the ability to play and fight characters from
the TV series.

If you're not a Resident Evil fan then you probably don't know me at all. I'm
a VERY hardcore Resident Evil fan that rarely leaves the boundaries of an RE
game or Capcom action game when writing. To put it simply, I have very little
experience with writing for a fighting game so let me know if I can improve in
any areas. The only other fighting game guides I have written is a Chris
Redfield guide for Marvel vs Capcom 3 and a full guide for Injustice: Gods
Among Us.

This guide contains a list of all moves for each gladiator type and some tips
to help you beat the CPU gladiators. I'll include more sections as the days go
by and improve upon existing sections. As always, you can email me at my email
address berserker_kev(@)yahoo(dot)com if you have any questions, suggestions or
comments.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT SPARTACUS LEGENDS

--> Spartacus: Legends is an online free game, so you must be online at ALL
times in order to play it. If you go offline while playing, a message will
appear and tell you that you can't play while offline. A router reset or
connection problems can screw up a match for you this way. Keep this in
    mind.

--> If you are playing the PS3 version and you can't buy gladiators from the
gladiator select screen, you most likely downloaded the game when it was
first available. If that is the case, delete your game then go back to the
PS Store and download the game again. An updated version is now up on the
PS Store. Your save file will keep all of your data for you for when you
load up the game again. Sony should have also sent you a code for 50 gold
coins if you were one of the players that downloaded the game on the first
day - it's a way to say sorry for that game-breaking bug.

--> Spartacus: Legends can freeze randomly at times. If it freezes during the
middle of a fight, you could lose your gladiator from the game thinking you
are leaving the match during the fight. With the PS3 version, don't ever
exit back to the main menu and back to the title screen then try to start
the game again since the game will freeze. Back out of the game (to the
    XMB) then restart it completely.

--> You cannot invite your friends to an online game or host a local match in
the game. Fighting against random opponents is your only option at this
time. While playing online, if the game is terminated for ANY reason
(random freeze, rage quitting on either side, loss of internet connection,
a spilt cup of coffee on your PS3) you run the chance of losing your
gladiator. DO NOT USE LEGENDARY GLADIATORS ONLINE BECAUSE OF STUFF LIKE
    THIS!

This is a diagram showing off the inputs for directions in a Mortal Kombat
style. In this guide all inputs are shown using the notations in the diagram
below. All diagrams assume that a player is on the first player (left) side.

==> BUTTON TERMS --------------------------------------------------------------

The following is a list of attack buttons for Spartacus Legends along with the
notations that I use to describe each input in this guide.

P - Pankration
GR - Grab
BL - Block
D - Dodge

==> BASIC MOVEMENT ------------------------------------------------------------

Moving - Use the left thumbstick to move your gladiator in a direction.

Stepping - Tap the left thumbstick in any direction quickly
(up/down/left/right) to perform a quick step in that direction. This can be
useful for avoiding some attacks or gaining distance on your opponent.

Running - Double tap the left thumbstick toward your opponent and hold down
on the direction to run towards your opponent

Rolling - Tap the right thumbstick or hold the Block button and tap the left
thumbstick in a direction to make your gladiator roll in that direction.
Rolls can be used to avoid attacks, but they decrease your defense meter per
roll, so do not abuse them.

Juking - Dual Swords, Dual Daggers and 2-Handed Sword classes can interrupt
certain combo attacks with a quick dodge to the side known as a "juke". This
move can confuse the opponent and be used in pressuring your opponent.

==> BASIC ATTACKS -------------------------------------------------------------

Light (L) Attack - Light attacks are often the quickest type of normal attack
that each gladiator has. Light attacks do very little damage.

Strong (S) Attack - Strong attacks are often the slowest attack that each
gladiator possesses but they are the most damaging and many strong attacks
have the potential to land a critical hit.

Pankration (P) Attack - Pankration attacks are hits that are mainly used to
break through an opponent's guard. These attacks will decrease an opponent's
defense meter faster than other attacks. Pankration attacks can be both slow
or fast depending on the type of Pankration attack used.

Grab (GR) - Grabs are throw moves that will break through an opponent's
guard. The animation cannot be interrupted once it has fully started. As an
opponent grabs your gladiator, you can break out of the grab by pressing the
  grab button however.

==> ADVANCED COMBAT -----------------------------------------------------------

Running and Rolling Attacks - Tap the Strong attack button while running or
rolling in order to perform a unique strong attack.

Charge Attacks - All two-handed weapon classes (two-handed sword, spear,
hammer) can perform a unique charge attack by pressing and holding the Light
and Pankration attack buttons together to charge the attack. The charge for
the move can be cancelled by pressing the block button during the charge.
This move hits hard and it has a good chance for a critical hit.

==> BASIC DEFENSE -------------------------------------------------------------

Blocking - Hold the Block button to guard incoming attacks. The only attack
that cannot be blocked against is a Grab. Blocking an attack will reduce
your defense meter. Holding down on the block button will cause your defense
meter to regenerate at a lower rate when compared to not guarding.

Defense Meter - Below each gladiator's health meter is a defense meter. This
will diminish as a gladiator blocks each attack. Some moves take off more
defense meter than others. Attacks such as the Pankration attack are
designed to eat away at an opponent's defense meter. The defense meter will
replenish over time. If the defense meter is completely drained, your
gladiator will be unable to block attacks for a short time and your
gladiator's rolls will be slower than usual. Do not rely fully on guarding
an opponent's attacks - dodge or roll to the side instead.

==> ADVANCED DEFENSE ----------------------------------------------------------

Dodging - Tap the Dodge button with proper timing to dodge an incoming attack
before it makes contact with your gladiator. Performing a successful dodge
will cause your opponent's attacks to be interrupted, allowing your gladiator
a chance to counter attack or retreat. The choice of leg armor used will
affect your gladiator's ability to dodge.

Parrying - When your opponent attack's if you press the same attack button as
your opponent during the attack, your gladiator will parry the incoming
attack. This is good for turning the tides of an assault and fighting back on
  aggressive opponents.

==> APPEALING TO THE CROWD ----------------------------------------------------

The crowd meter is to the left of your gladiator's health and defense bar.
Performing successful attacks without getting hit and taunting (d-pad
up/down/left/right) will raise the crowd meter. Raising the crowd meter will
allow your gladiator to kill off your opponent after the gauge is completely
full once the final hit has been delivered.

==> ARENA RULES ---------------------------------------------------------------

Defeated - Fully drain your opponent's health bar to defeat their gladiator.
Defeated gladiators will live to fight again.

Executed and Slaughtered - Finish off a gladiator will full crowd favor and
your gladiator will have a chance to kill off that gladiator. Basic attacks
will cut off arms and heads at that time and give you credit for a slaughter.
Special executions can be bought from the equipment menus as "boosts" that
cost extra coin. Executed gladiators will require a certain amount of coin
in order to revive - the first revival is free.

NOTE: Once a gladiator has been defeated when the opponent has a full crowd
meter, that gladiator will die no matter if the opponent performs an execution
or not.

==> EXECUTIONS ----------------------------------------------------------------

Executions are unique to each weapon type. Buy executions from the "Boost"
menu while equipping your gladiator. They can only be a certain number of
times before they have to be purchased again. Once you have achieve a max
crowd meter and defeated your opponent, press any of the attack buttons while
the opponent is dazed in order to perform the Execution finisher. The button
that is pressed will change the viewpoints of the finishing move.

==> REWARDS -------------------------------------------------------------------

Silver Coins - At the end of each fight, you will be awarded with coins based
on your crowd meter and the level of your opponent during the fight. Silver
coins are awarded for your efforts after each fight. Get your crowd meter to
maximum level and fight stronger opponents to increase the amount of coin
  gained from each battle.

Gold Coins -The only way to gain gold coins is through leveling. After
leveling up, a certain amount of gold coins will be given based on your
  current level.

Fame - Fame is given over per battles and it is your experience points for
leveling up. Achieving a high crowd meter will help to give you extra fame
at the end of each battle.

==> RATING --------------------------------------------------------------------

A gladiator's rating reflects his value. The higher your rating, the greater
the reward for your victories. Outfit your gladiator with high stat equipment
in order to boost his rating. Perks, armor and weapons can all boost a
gladiator's rating.

Gladiator's also come with a rating based on the color of their names when
looking over them in the gladiator select screen. Always choose the higher-
level gladiators with a higher rating to get the gladiator with the best stats
pre-equipping him. From least to greatest, the colors are white, green, blue
and purple. The same type of colored grading scale is used for equipment and
weapons as well.

==> PERKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Perks are gained after battles and they can be equipped in order to boost your
gladiator's statistics in a certain area depending on the perk. Each gladiator
can only equip a certain amount of perks as displayed by the slots that they
have while choosing one. A player must pay 2 gold coins in order to delete a
perk from a gladiator once it has been equipped, so choose your perks wisely.

Perks are sometimes gained just from defeating an opponent, but some require
that your gladiator executes your opponent. Some perks are rare and can only
be gained through specific fights. Some of the perks in the game are one-time
only. Once your gladiator falls from execution and is not revived, his perks
are taken away along with that gladiator.

==> LUDUS MENU ----------------------------------------------------------------

Your Ludus is your training area for gladiators. Press the Light attack button
on the main map to pull your Ludus or you will automatically go to it before a
fight. Your Ludus will show you the current gladiators under your house.

Slots - Slots are the amount of available slots that can be used to hold a
gladiator. Extra slots can be purchased with coin and extra slots afterwards
will increase as more slots are bought.

Equip a Gladiator - After highlighting a gladiator on the Ludus menu, press
the Pankration button in order to be taken to the equipment menu to give him
extra armor and weapons. Most armor and weapons must be bought, but
gladiators often come equipped with basic armor and weapons when purchased.

==> RECRUITING A GLADIATOR ----------------------------------------------------

From your Ludus screen, highlight an empty slot and choose to recruit a
gladiator to be taken to a selection screen filled with gladiators. Each
gladiator cost a certain amount of coin.

Weapon - The weapon icon on the top right of each gladiator card shows the
type of weapon that they use. Each weapon type is exclusive to that
particular gladiator meaning that they can't equip another weapon.

Color of Name - Each gladiator's name is highlighted with a certain color
representing increased stats. The colors are as follows from least to
greatest stats: White, Green, Blue, Purple, Yellow. Gladiators with higher
stats will cost more coin than others. All of the higher level gladiators
will cost gold coins when your fame is low, so wait for it to rise. At level
21, you can spend silver coins to buy purple-named gladiators. Be sure to
  keep this in mind.

Recruiting a Legend - Each boss fight stage requires a player to fight
against a Legendary gladiator from the Spartacus TV show. These gladiators
can be added to the recruit gladiator menu once they are defeated. They will
always cost gold coins to recruit. Legendary gladiators will appear on the
selection menu RANDOMLY, so they will not always appear once defeated.

Deleting a Gladiator - Go to the equipment screen from the Ludus menu and
press the shoulder buttons to choose the "Modify Gladiator" option to be
given the option to delete a gladiator and free up a slot in order to choose
another gladiator. The deleted gladiator will be sent back to the mines
to... eat shit? I send my gladiator back to my room to proofread my guides
as punishment - it's really hell, I tell you.

Refreshing the Gladiator List - A gladiator list refresh will happen once
every 30 minutes as shown by the timer on the bottom right hand portion of
the screen. The list can be automatically refreshed for 5 gold pieces.

==> WORLD MAP BATTLES ---------------------------------------------------------

As you fight and level up your house, new areas will be unlocked. Many areas
will be locked out from the starting until you reach a required level as shows
by the number displayed on the lock icon. Stats and any perks that gladiator
might carry are shows on the icon for each event type. Gladiatorial events are
shown in each district as follows:

Arena Battles - These are your basic fights with a randomly chosen gladiator.
The weapon that the gladiator uses is usually shows below the stats for the
gladiator. These events can have battles with mystery opponents of a
  randomly chosen weapon type.

Primus Battle - Primus battles are basically the events that must be
completed in order to gain access to the boss battle for each district.
Primus battles will place your chosen gladiator up against a certain type of
opponent. Some Primus battles require that your gladiator be equipped with a
certain weapon. If the condition is not met, you cannot enter the event.

Boss Battles - Boss battles are battles against legendary gladiator of a very
high rating. These gladiators are equipped with several perks and their own
exclusive armor. A boss battle is always the final event after completing
all the primus battles for each district.

Online Match - These are events where your gladiator can fight against
another player-controlled online gladiator. Each district has one of these.

After entering each district from the world map, press the grab button to exit
from the district and choose another. Each district has its own difficulty
(lethalty) as shown by the statistic screen for each district. Each event in a
district has its own level of difficulty, silver coin that is awarded and fame
level that can be reached during the event. All of the event information is
shown on the information for each event.

This section lists all the moves for each gladiator type in the game. All
gladiators fall under one certain weapon category and their moves are the same
per weapon category. Later on, I'll go through and make another section with
more detailed info for all moves. This is more of a printable list for those
that don't want to constantly pull up the pause menu screen.

The following is a list of the major districts of Capua along with the Primus
events, Boss battle events and normal events found in each district. All
Primus events and Boss battle events require a certain level to be reached in
order to access them - this number is shown in the icon that will be over the
event circle until you have reached a certain level to unlock it. The
following lists offer no tips - if you want tips, then go to the tips section
since it's all pretty basic for each weapon type overall.

The opening tutorial of the game will have the player in control of Spartacus.
Perform the moves and other requirements listed there to complete the tutorial
and be taken to the map of districts for Capua. From the beginning, all
districts are locked except for the Extremus District. You will only have the
choice of the "Sword and Shield Practice" event at that time, so get started
there and build up your level to unlock Primus events. Complete the Primus
events to unlock the Boss battle for the district.

Once the game is completed one time - all opponents in Primus events and Boss
battles have been defeated - the Primus events will return onto the district
maps and they will have higher level opponents in them and more of those events
will have restrictions. Many of the main events on the second playthrough
require a specific weapon. Normal gladiators battles in the highest level
district will go up to 450+ in rank, so yeah, it's much harder on the second
time through.
                                                                         [DS01]

PRIMUS BATTLE ------------------------------------- HROWULF THE INPENETRABLE --

Opponent Type: Spear and Shield
Gladiator Required: Any Style (first playthrough)
                    Two-Handed Hammer (second playthrough)

Perk Received:

PRIMUS BATTLE --------------------------------------------- REMUS WOLF CHILD --

Opponent Type: Dual Daggers
Gladiator Required: Spear and Shield (first playthrough)

Perk Received:

Rabid Dog - Gain +50% Critical Hit chance and +50% Critical Hit damage when
Health is low.

NOTE: This battle can be a real ass on your first time through since you have
one of the worst weapon type versus a high level of the best weapon type. d +
S, S can work quite well for this battle, but you HAVE to dodge when Remus
starts to attack. Prepare to spam the dodge button while he attacks in order
to dodge him then hit him with a quick d + S, S or b + L. b + L works great
for a retreating attack. This battle is one of the hardest in the game on the
first time through because of the restriction of Spear and Shield.

PRIMUS BATTLE ---------------------------------------- HANNIBAL THE CANNIBAL --

Opponent Type: Two-Handed Trident
Gladiator Required: Any Style (first playthrough)

favor.

PRIMUS BATTLE ------------------------------------------ SERVERUS THE HUNTER --

Opponent Type: Spear and Shield

Perk Received:

Hurried Butcher - +4% Attack Speed.

PRIMUS BATTLE --------------------------------------------------------- BAAL --

Opponent Type: Two-Handed Trident
Gladiator Required: Two-Handed Hammer (first playthrough)
                    Two-Handed Trident (second playthrough)

Perk Received:

Doctore's Focus - Critical Hit Chance +15%, Critical Hit Damage +30%.

NOTE: This fight can be a bit hard during the first playthrough if you're
unfamiliar with the Two-Handed Hammer gameplay of a gladiator. The best way to
finish off this opponent is to stay away from him and hit him with L + P
attacks. Once one of these attacks connects, hit him on the ground with a d +
S attack. This will take off quite a bit of damage. You need patience to beat
Baal and DO NOT allow him to get too close and stay there. His close range
attacks are his worst attacks really. Try to always stay at a distance and
either hit him or break his guard with L + P attacks.

BOSS BATTLE ---------------------------------------------- LEGEND: SPARTACUS --

Opponent Type: Dual Swords
Gladiator Required: Any Style (first playthrough)
                    Sword and Shield (second playthrough)

Perk Received:

Protection of the Crowd - Gain +15% Damage Resistance and +10% Defense Recovery
when you earn high favor with the crowd. (second playthrough)

Character Unlocked:

Spartacus will randomly appear in the gladiator barracks for purchase after
defeating him. He will cost 12 gold coins.

===============================================================================

==> WHAT IS A PERK? -----------------------------------------------------------

A perk is a bonus enhancement that can be equipped to a gladiator. Like
gladiators, perk types come in different colors to show the effectiveness of
each perk. They are color-coded from white-green-blue from order of weakest to
best. The colors for each perk may only be viewed on the Ludus menu while
equipped to your gladiator.

==> GAINING A PERK ------------------------------------------------------------

Perks can be earned at the end of each Primus event and they can be gained
through normal battles by slaughtering or executing your gladiator opponent
when the foe is defeated.

==> EQUIPPING A PERK ----------------------------------------------------------

Perks can only be assigned to the winning gladiator after a battle in which it
is earned. Each gladiator has a certain number of slots that can be filled
with perks based on the color of their name. A price of 2 gold must be paid in
order to unequip a perk and reequip another in its place. Long story short,
unless you want to spend 2 gold to replace a perk, choose them VERY wisely.

==> HOW MANY PERKS CAN BE EQUIPPED? -------------------------------------------

The number of Perks that can be assigned to each gladiator depend on the color-
coded type of gladiator. As far as I know, only one of each type of perk can
be equipped at a time.

.-------------------------.
| COLOR TYPE | PERK SLOTS |
|=========================|
| White | 1 |
| Green | 2 |
| Blue | 3 |
| Purple | 4 |
| Yellow | 5 |
'-------------------------'

==> LOSING A PERK -------------------------------------------------------------

Whenever a gladiator with equipped perks has been killed off, if he is not
revived, his perks will be lost along with him. Perks CANNOT be transferred
between gladiators.

==> PERKS LIST ----------------------------------------------------------------

The following is a list of ALL perks in the Spartacus Legends. The majority of
these perks can be received by defeating a gladiator with a slaughter
(appendage chop) or execution (bought finisher). I really believe that all of
these can be received through normal gladiator events without the need to play
a Primus event. The perks received will always be random no matter which
gladiator, you fight. The only definite perks are the "Thick Skull" perk
received after defeating the gladiator in the training event and the perks
received for the Primus events that I have listed in the Districts section of
this guide.

------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLE TIPS
o If a gladiator is ever close to your gladiator and pressuring a bunch, tap
the dodge button for a good chance to dodge him to cancel his attack allowing
time to perform your own. The harder the difficulty of the CPU, the more
this is needed. Once you make it to the Spectacula district, this is nearly
  required.

o All L + P attacks with double-handed weapons have frame of invincibility
where your gladiator cannot be hit while performing the actual attack. This
helps out tremendously for each double-handed weapon type when fighting the
  CPU gladiators.

o It's far better to use the dodge button to dodge an attack or simply back up
when your CPU opponent attacks rather than guard. The higher-level CPU will
break your guard in second putting you open to their barrage of attacks.

o Kill your opponent with an execution (boost finisher) when crowd favor is
high for a high chance at gaining a new perk. This is the way to basically
guarantee a perk at the end of a battle.

o If your gladiator is lost due to you not reviving him, his perks will be lost
along with him. Some perks are much more rare than others, but no perk is
forever lost - you can always get it back by participating in events and
performing executions until you get a certain one back.

o Most perks can be found through the normal events in each district once the
Primus events have all been completed. The Primus event can be finished to
unlock the Perk and if you don't equip it after the event, it can be later
gained through the surrounding events in the same district by killing the
gladiators with an execution. If you're looking for a certain perk, keep
checking out the events around each district.

o Equipment is not lost when your gladiator is killed. Equipment carries over
to all gladiators and ANY gladiator in your list can be equipped with any
type of matching equipment even if another has it. So basically, you can
have two gladiators with the same weapon.

o Legendary gladiators are added to the list of gladiators that can be bought
after they are defeated. Once they are first defeated is the best time to
get them. When the list resets, they will randomly appear from then on. Try
not to let your legendary gladiators die since they can be lost. Even if
they are lost, they will randomly appear on the list again, but you'll have
to offer up gold coins to buy them once again.

o Never pause the game and choose to exit your game during any kind of fight.
Nothing will happen the first time. The second time, you will receive a
message warning you that if it is done again you're gladiator will be
deleted. After that, your gladiators will start getting deleted if you choose
to exit during a fight. The BAD part about this is that if your router or
modem resets and you get kicked offline, that will count as quitting.

o Purchase as many slots for extra gladiators as possible. This will help you
have a wide variety of gladiators to choose from for weapon specific Primus
events. They do eventually start to cost gold coins. The one for 17 gold
coins is worth buying, but the others are really too expensive, so I don't
recommend buying more than that unless you buy gold through the menu option.

o Finishers can be unequipped through the Boost menu of the gladiator equipment
menu. Once you switch over to a new gladiator, highlight the finisher and
try to buy it to equip it again if you still had any left on the other
gladiator. Finishers can be stocked up so you don't have to constantly buy
  them.

----------------------------------------------------- MONEY SAVING/GAINING TIPS
o Buy cheap gladiators and fight in the Insulae district (the Pits) to receive
a high amount of coins per victory. You'll get around 5000 silver coins per
  victory against high-rated opponents.

o Gold coins are handed over once for each level that is gained. They are very
rare, so use them wisely. The only other way to gain gold coins if by buying
them from the PS Store or MS Marketplace.

o Don't spend gold coins for equipment. Each piece of equipment has a number
by it that represents the level that you must earn before it will be
available for silver coins. Basically, if you wait, each set of equipment
will be available for silver coins instead of having to use your gold coins.

o Don't spend gold coins for ANYTHING. Try your best to find some way around
it. Legendary gladiators should be the only purchase where you'll want to
actually spend gold coins on. Just about every other gold coin purchase can
  be avoided.

o Blue and Purple gladiators will be available for silver coins as your fame
level rises. At level 21, you can purchase Purple gladiators for silver
  coins.

o On PS3, be sure to sign up for U-play and complete the challenges on it to
gain points and unlock some of the equipment on there. It has a very high-
level helmet, dual swords and sword that will help out a BUNCH for starting
out. The U-play Rewards menu on the bottom of the title screen menu will get
you to the U-play unlockables. U-play rewards are not available for the Xbox
  360 version.

---------------------------------- CHEAP ATTACKS FOR BEATING THE CPU GLADIATORS
The following are some of the best moves for fighting high-level CPU opponents
and those annoying legendary boss fight gladiators. Some of these moves can be
spammed and give the AI gladiators very little free time to do anything else to
counter. Some of the moves must be carefully performed from a distance in
order to catch the AI gladiators off guard. Experiment with the following
moves and you might have an easier time battling high-level opponents.

o Dual Daggers

  f + S, S, S (spam this)
  S, S, S (spam this)
b + P (good at interrupting aggressive opponents, this can be spammed)

NOTE: Really high-level opponents can be VERY tough with Dual Daggers. The
best way to exploit the AI gladiators that I have found is to spam them with f
+ S, S, S, until their defense is nearly broken then hit them with b + P to
break their defense. With some gladiators such as two-handed sword, they can
easily interrupt the S spam combo, so you'll need to block if they block. Hit
them with b + P after guarding and that will usually hit them.

o Dual Swords

  d + L, L, L (can be spammed)
  f + L, L, S (can be spammed)
f + S (good poke from long range)
d + S (can be spammed at times)
u + S (good for getting into a distant opponent)
  f, f (dash), S*

* roll/back away or perform follow-up attacks while using this.

o Spear and Shield

  d + S, S (can be spammed)
  d + P, P (can be spammed - doesn't take much damage though)
f + S (good poke from long range)
  b + L (good retreating poke)
  f + L, L, S
  d + L, L, S

NOTE: Spear and Shield gladiators require a lot of patience to play. You can't
just go charging into a CPU opponent and expect to beat them. The best way
that I have found to beat the CPU gladiators is to poke at them with f + L, L,
S and then roll back. Constantly perform the poking combo and then roll back
the entire match even if it hits them or not. Add in a f + S and a d + S, S
every now and then for extra hits but you want to mainly rely on f + L, L, S
and backward rolls.

o Sword and Shield

  f, f (dash), S*
  f + S, P (good poke from long range)
S, S (can be spammed sometimes)
  B + S, S, S (can be spammed sometimes)

* roll/back away or perform follow-up attacks while using this.

o Two-Handed Hammer

  L + P (can be spammed)
  u + S, S, S (can be spammed)
  d + S (good ground hit to follow up the L + P attack)

o Two-Handed Sword

  L + P (can be spammed)
S, S (good combo when close)
  f, f (dash), S

o Two-Handed Trident

  L + P (can be spammed*)
d + S (great range and good ground attack)
S, S (first hit has good range)
  f + L, L, L (good combo when close)

* hit opponent with L + P then perform another L + P while opponent is stunned
from the first hit then attack the grounded foe with d + S. This can make
mincemeat out of Legends, even Crixus and Spartacus! This combination takes
off TONS of damage and gladiators will very rarely block it if you perform the
second stab quick enough.

o Unarmed

u + S (good counter)
L, L, L, L, L (good spam attack)
L, L, L, L, P (good spam attack)

Along with the moves listed above, you'll need to add your own follow-up
attacks to some of them and dodge appropriately. It's best to back away or
roll away from your opponent and wait for the opponent to move forward and
attack. One major flaw that the CPU has is that they will often not stop an
attack once they start even from long range. DO NOT get stuck in a corner and
be careful about sticking to close to an opponent when they get stuck in a
corner since your attacks might miss from them dodging to the side - which
might just place you in the corner.

                               VERSION HISTORY
*******************************************************************************

-- July 1, 2013

First version of guide is up. The majority of this was done in a single day.
I'll add more information to this guide this week. I plan to add an event list
with all opponents and perks per opponent.

-- July 4, 2013

Happy Independence Day! Added a District List to the guide. This lists out
all the opponents per event in each district. I listed the perks along with
the opponent's weapons and your required weapon. I also listed out more cheap
tricks to beat the CPU gladiators per weapon in the Tips and Tricks section. I
added a mention of the glitched version of the game on the PS3 version along
with a few other bits of information at the beginning of the guide.

-- July 9, 2013

All of the Perks in the game have now been added to the guide. The District
List was updated a bit. There are some battles that I'm having problems with
on my second playthrough - damn Spear and Shield gladiators! I hate them!!! I
also added some tips to the tips section I believe - can't remember which ones
though. Haha.

I still have more updates coming!

-- July 15, 2013

Filled out the rest of the Districts section information for the second time
through. I'm up to Spartacus and am still trying to beat him with a Sword and
Shield gladiator at the moment. I found out a nice little strategy for the
Spear and Shield gladiator that I added to the tips section. I actually kind
of favor that style now that I know how to use him better.

                                 CONTACT INFO
*******************************************************************************

I can be reached at my email address, which is berserker_kev(at)yahoo.com, so
please contact me if you have any questions, comments, etc. Replace the (at)
with @. I don't mind receiving emails at all. Don't add me to your Yahoo
Messenger though; I use Yahoo Messenger only for close friends.

You can contact me through Xbox or PSN. I'm online nearly all the time. Don't
send a friend request though.

Xbox LIVE Gamertag: Berserker Kev
PSN: Berserker_Kev

I do have a few guidelines however:

1) Give me a subject in the email, preferably one including the name of the
game. An actual subject looks damn sexy in my inbox compared to an
   unattractive blank subject line.
2) Read the guide over and make sure that your question is not already
   answered.
3) Please speak in English and attempt to use some correct grammar. This is in
no way meant to offend those that cannot speak English well. I have spoken
with some readers that claim they cannot speak English when, in fact, they
speak better English then some Americans. So basically if you "try" to talk
to me then that is good enough. :)

And last, but not least, if you found this walkthrough helpful, an email would
be most appreciated. It is very true that I write these guides as a hobby, but
just that little email that lets me know that I have helped someone always
makes me feel special for about five minutes. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone
on the gaming boards that you used a guide. ;)

If you have a youtube account, you could also give me a subscription on
youtube. I promise to keep you entertained with plenty of Chris Redfield
action!

                                   ABOUT ME
*******************************************************************************

My name is Kevin Hall. I'm 33 years old and live in the US, in a small town in
Mississippi. Ever since I was really young, I have been a huge fan of video
games since I was first introduced to them via the Atari 2600 and NES 8-bit.
My favorite gaming series is the Resident Evil series followed closely by the
Castlevania series. I'm a complete horror gaming junkie - survival horrors are
my main cup of tea. Capcom is my favorite video game company. They hardly
ever let me down when it comes to games with plenty of replay value.

                    "Want intense detail? Go Berserk(er)!"

I try my best to put as much detail as I can in all my guides. I have had
remarks that I get ridiculously detailed or come across as long-winded, but
that's just the way I write. When I write, I type out what I would want if I
was looking for an online strategy guide or FAQ/Walkthrough - I would want a
guide that gave all the details for a game. I would want an encyclopedia... or
a wiki in my guide!

My known aliases are Berserker or Berserker Kev. Many people call me "Kev" and
I've also gained the nickname "Kevo" from the RE Mercs community.
