Question from rricchmmann
What will happen to our psn accounts?
Im just wondering what will happen to our psn accounts when the ps4 comes out. Will we be able to use them for the ps4? Anybody got some ideas
This question is open with pending answers, but none have been accepted yet
looool, the PS4 will came out on 2015 after 6 years from now cuz sony said that the PS3 will stay 10 years in the market after release . and about the PSN account i am sure we can use it on the PS4.
it will be backward compatible unless the technology becomes ret***ed. so you can still use the same psn acc. look at psp, you can dl on your ps3 to upload. this is a sign of flexibility of PS network. Genius!
It was recently confirmed that with the release of the PS4 later this year, that trophies and the like will carry over to the PS4. This means that your PSN account will be the same, but it is certainly notable to the original question that by default, any games purchased on PSN for PS3, are *NOT* going to function for the PS4 as the system will not be backwards compatible ilke the original PS3 was.
However, they have talked about streaming services through Gaikai being usable in yet to be determined functionality to stream PS1/PS2/PS3 titles. Details of specifically how this will work, and if re-purchasing of any content would be required have not yet been revealed. It is very likely that additional details will be provided at E3 which is taking place June 11-13.
In short, the main advantages for a current PSN account being able to be carried over to the PS4 is in relation to the confirmation that trophy scores will carry over, and while I've not yet seen details of any PS+ service for the PS4, it is extremely likely that a single PS+ subscription would be sufficient for both systems.
