How do I get my mad catz ps3 controller to work?

I just bought my mad catz ps3 controller and it wont connect with the playstaion. I need some help on how to get it connected. If any one knows please help me out. Thank you

Is it wireless or Wired?

You can try this:

-PS3 system is ON
-plug in USB cable into PS3 system
-plug USB cable into controller
-press PS button until it connects
-reset controller (its still plugged in on USB) (reset is on back of controller, tiny hole, by using a bent Paperclip)
-remove USB cable from controller
-press PS button until it connects
