"Assassin's Creed. A game with huge hype, but does it worth it?"
Assassin's Creed. A game with huge hype, but does it worth it? Let me analyze the most important things a game must have and this game contains or lacks.
The cities are really well made. Altair's gesture looks realistic enough and his moves aren't robotic. Even though the game only runs at 720p, the graphics can be very good. Why a 6? Because there are tons of bugs and glitches. Altair's cape keeps getting in his feet and his sword in his cape. Sometimes, people pass trough walls or other people and when a jar breaks, it just disappears. Also, people look like PS2 graphics made. Even though they payed attention to the environmental graphics, they didn't work enough on people's bodies.
The music changes, depending on the situation you are in. It's fit well actually. When you are chased, the music becomes intense while when you are annonymous there is a calm sound. This section looses 2 points because of the confusion that some times happens. Every person in this game talks and says different things. If you push many people though and then enter a conversation, then the confusion starts. People are talking all together and nothing makes sense.
The gameplay is really well-made and new. It's not common at all. Maybe sometimes it reminds of Grand Theft Auto or Prince of Persia, although there are many futures never appeared in a game before. You can climb every building, built or ruins. When you get to a new area, you must get at the higher spot, so that you update the map and check the whole city. Then, mini quests are unlocked, like saving citizens, mugging people, helping other assassin's or getting info. When you are done with everything, you have to kill the main target you were sent to kill. Then the whole town is alerted and you have to hide and then go back to the town's assassins base. Easy? Well you got to try it.
The controls during the gameplay are really confortable and easy to use. There are two control pads. One for the LOW PROFILE and one of the HIGH one. You can run or walk carefully so that you don't become suspicious. The game's producer though said that you never lose control of the character. That's kinda a lie. During the cutscenes the controls become very gimmick and useless, you can only change the camera or walk a little bit. Also, sometimes it's hard to push many buttons together but you get used to it later.
The story is new and good. Medieval assassin's and futuristic technology You learn the story of people who try to create a war in order to have personal profit. French, Jewish and Italians appear in Jerusalim and Damascus. It's a really interesting story, but you have to pay attention often, since it is not explained good some times and also, if English isn't your native language, unfortunately, there are no subtitles.
A game not for everyone, but for many people. It's fun actually although you should know that there are many glitches, like Freezing, White Screen etc. Ubisoft may fix them with a patch so we can only wait. This game has low replayability value, but who would like to play a game that takes more than 40 hours to FULLY beat again? Maybe you? Twice or 3 times is bearable IMO. So my advise: Rent first. If you like it, buy it because it is to long to beat it rented. If you don't like it, keep playing maybe you are still in the tutorial.
