What Does level up mean?

In Dark kingdom what does level up mean . It is at the bottom of the tv. I have never played this game before and have not a clue?

Answer

In the pause menu, you can allocate some points to stats you have. If you don't put points on whatever stats you need, & you let them stack up, it might be a bit tougher when you have to fight other monsters & such.

If you press select you will be able to power up your character
