This FAQ is meant to be a thorough collection of all relevant information to the heroes of Agarest in one spot. This FAQ will cover the following: * The statistics of a hero, sorted by lineage. That means his base stats, the growth rates, the affects of Proof of Valiant. * Weapon choices based on a hero's lineage, including the skill slots given both by weapon choice and added by way of Proof of Valiant. * Willpowers gained by the hero. From the second generation onward, there is some wiggle room to change Willpower based on when you use the Proof of Valiant. While it is generally advised to use the Proof of Valiant as soon as possible, there may be a lineage or two where the Willpower gained by not using a Proof of Valiant is superior. * Extended areas for each hero. This FAQ will not cover any of the following: * A walkthrough for the game. There are plenty of sources available for that, and this is not one of them. * A "how to" for playing Record of Agarest War. * Advice for choices regarding the heroines and how to increase their affection for the hero. If you use this guide to plan out which heroines you wish your heroes to marry, it is easy enough through common sense to woo one particular heroine and maximize her affection. If you need a guide, those are available elsewhere on the internet. Frequently Asked Questions <FAQ> Q: Which version of the game was used to write this walkthrough? A: I have the EU disc-based version, so that's what I used. There are some translation differences to be noted, which is why I've included a Willpower glossary with the Willpower section. Some have different names, but the definitions should be eaqsy enough to follow. Q: My preferred heroine only "Likes" my hero, and doesn't "Love" him. Does it matter? A: A heroine at "Like" affection will give you a decidedly inferior hero for the next generation as opposed to a heroine at "Love" affection. The next generation's hero's base attributes will be the same or lower (usually lower), the growth rates for said attributes will suffer from the same decline, and a Proof of Valiant will also have diminished effects. Sometimes, a hero from the union of a Hero and Heroine at "Like" status will wield different weapons than one from a "Love" relationship. Q: What impact does a mother play? A: The mother is the strongest influence on the hero of the next generation. Most often, a hero will resemble his mother in combat in some fashion -- a mage heroine generally produces mage offspring, and warrior to warrior. The mother determines what a hero looks like, what Willpowers he learns, and what his extended area will be. The mother also contributes one of the extra skill slots learned by a Hero when he uses a Proof of Valiant. Q: What impact does a grandmother, great grandmother, etc., play? A: The grandmother determines the other skill slot learned by a Hero when he uses a Proof of Valiant. Beyond that, the cumulative lineage of a hero will determine a hero's base attributes and growth rates, as well as his weapon of choice. There isn't a hard and fast formula for this one, at least not one that has been discovered. Weapon choices often lean towards those wielded by the hero's parents, grandparents, etc. Q: Why does my hero wield a sword in cut-scenes when he uses a rod (or scythe, or gun, or whatever else)? A: I don't know. Maybe the developers were lazy. Maybe it didn't occur to them. Maybe they decided that a sword "looked cool". Pick your own reason. You can use <Ctrl - F>, the key for a given hero is his generation number, followed by the first letter of each heroine in his lineage. For example, a 3rd generation hero whose lineage was Vira-Lorr and Sharona would be <3VS>, while a 5th generation hero whose lineage was Winfield, Arbol, Ganz, and Fer would be <5WAGF>. Normally, a hero will have at least one attribute at "A" or higher growth. If he doesn't, than he almost always has all "B" growth rates.
