"My Look at Far Cry 2"
So, for a long time there has been a lot of hype for this game. After it was released, I quickly rented it. I was shocked! While all games have their fair share of pros and cons, Far Cry 2's pros definitely outweigh the cons.
Gameplay- The gameplay is so varied. There are so many different ways to accomplish things in the game. You might want to assasinate a business man by sniping him from 200 feet away, running up to him and slicing him with your knife, or just launching an RPG to where he's standing! You can achieve anything by almost any means! But like all things good, there is also something bad. The travel/driving in the game is so annoying! It is constant. You have to spend at least 10 minutes going to your destination for missions, while driving through outposts full of enemies that won't ever stop chasing you. Also, the early game can be very, very difficult. You are given almost no guidance what-so-ever and it can be difficult to move on in the game.
Graphics- Beautiful. Simply beautiful. The graphics are so amazing, almost lifelike. Almost anything you look at will have realistic dirt and texturing on it like real life. The textures are so vivid and nice. If you have an HD TV, the graphics will be so good that they hurt your eyes. (In a good way)
Sound- The sound is semi realistic. Most of the time you just need to pay attention to the enemies, words and such. There's a lot of bugs in the sound for some reason, but they can be ignored.
Storyline- The storyline (no spoiler edition) is that you are a mercenary, of any 9 that you can choose from in the beginning of the game, paid to kill the "Jackal". He is an arms dealer arming 2 factions called the APR and UFLL and they are causing chaos across two provinces called Leboa Seko and Bowa Seko. You will work for both sides to try and get to the Jackal. Well, the storyline is pretty unoriginal. Getting the "bad guy". Not the best, and could use some work.
Bugs/Cons- The driving is sometimes annoying and buggy. If you try driving over a tire, there's a 9/10 chance your vehicle will just stop and not be drivable any more, forcing you to walk to your destination. Also, the AI has like super vision and can see you from very far away, making a silent approach near impossible. Enemies are incredibly durable to nearly all weapons in the game besides sniper rifles. If you shoot an enemy merc in the stomach, or even the head with the G3 or Ak-47, they will almost always get up to rejoin the fight.
Overall- Overall, Far Cry 2 really didn't live up to all the hype I heard. The bugs were disappointing and the gameplay were really annoying. Well, maybe a sequel can make up for what this lacked.
