"Terrible, condensed, repetitive, Devil May Cry wannabe"
I can not even begin to explain how fast this game becomes boring. The game looks amazing, the stage designs are well done, and it's nice looking at the protagonist's ass, but that's not enough to save it from how amazingly bland the combat system is and how little variety the game actually has. The targeting system is automated, which can be frustrating at times; boss battles in particular since the enemies just respawn. Outside of these boss battles though, it doesn't matter since you have to kill every single enemy to advance anyways. I literally stopped playing after an hour because I could not stand it any longer, I may as well have been injected by horse tranquilizer.
I'm all for hack n' slashes, but the execution in which the game does it is rather sad. You progress through the game entering different areas, you fight a ridiculous amount of enemies in said area that never seem to die, go through a cut scene, then at some point fight a boss that takes forever to kill. Throughout this process you gain soul points, the currency which will be used to buy new skills, none of which are very creative. You will either be spending these points on new Spells like Fireball, Teleport, or Earthquake to name a few; or on gun styles/upgrades that changes or improves the way you shoot. As you buy new spells or skills you will unlock new ones. However, the gun skills felt vastly inferior to the spells you can get and not much better than the gun style you being with. Overall, the skill system is okay, but after the first few I kind of just stopped caring and after that there was really nothing to look forward to in the game. Maybe the cut scenes with the robotic voice acting...
This game could've been good, even great had more work been done on it. It feels like the developers just wanted to put something out there so they slapped this together and hoped people would buy it just because. It feels unfinished and just the basic core of what the game should've been. The battles seem similar to Devil May Cry at first, but if you play for a while you realize any Devil May Cry is leagues ahead of this game, as they are more polished and fleshed out. This game is bland, bland, bland... eyecandy....
