Magic weapon?
Is the phosphorus pole worth using damage wise?

Though this is a late answer, if you upgrade with the ancient demon souls, the phosphorus pole does become a viable option. Usually, however; you see people crafting their own magic damaging weapon with one of the polearms which will do much more damage depending on the forging path.
